Speaker 1 (00:00):
I guess if we did this show on stage in
front of people all the time, what Schmidt's about to
do would make sense. But it doesn't because we don't.
This is West Michigan's Morning News to you, Kelly Brett Pakita.
I love the cause, but you got guts. Girl. Here's
somebody that does it for a living director of marketing
and communications and I should say actor for the Grand
(00:22):
Rapid Civic Theater too. Nadia Skidmore, Welcome back to Wood Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Oh my gosh, Hi, good morning friends.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
So this thing's tomorrow night. It's the uh what Tomorrow
Night lip Sync Battle twenty twenty five Rock of Ages
versus Juliet And talk to us a little bit about
we'll get to the terrifying thing that Schmitty will have
to do, but talk to us a little bit about
the fundraiser and who it helps.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
Jell. So what we're doing is we at Ground our
Pacific Theater are partnering up with our friends at Broadway
Ground Rapids one night only Lipzinc Battle where we have
taken five very cool humans much like who are going
to be co captains representing various areas of media and
in fine raps along with five of our friends from
(01:09):
Grand Rapids Civic Theater who are familiar faces on the stage.
We're teaming them up together as coke stins of five
various themes, twatting together people from their world and the
theater world, and we're going head to head with some
lip sync battlestup between the music of Rock of Ages,
(01:29):
which is the first and only, no, not only the
first jukebox musical sixth season, and then Anne Juliet, which
is their big jukebox musical of the season. And Yeah,
I'm going to happen to right on the Civic stage.
Mar Andrew gel Is one of the co captains.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
I'm really excited about this, Nadia. I'm a little nervous.
I've been practicing the songs because they're a little different
the stage versions versus what you've heard from them like
pop culturally. I won't give away the songs, but I
will tell you you'll hear a little bit of Ario
Speedwagon and you'll hear a little bit of an Xtreet Boys.
And I believe as of this afternoon, I will get
(02:09):
all of the rest of my shipments for costumes. Oh boy, costumes,
We're got all out and again it's really cool if
you are right, and it's really cool if you want
to come out to this because, like Natti had said,
this goes to help so many of the awesome programs
that both the Civic Theater and Broadway Grand Rapids do.
Because you guys are nonprofits, people might forget that.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Yeah, really true. One of the people. One of the
things that a lot of people just don't realize is
that well on capa Civic Theater stage, even though it
is so beautifully produced, we're one of the biggest community
theaters in the country. The cost of tickets to enter
the theater and to show only covers about thirty five
(02:52):
percent of the extensive that we incur throughout a year.
In order to keep our theater and our Civic School
of Theater Arts open and running in Broadway Ground Rapids,
they create Broadway Arts Access program, which brings in students
and their families to see live theater. And so what
we're really doing is we're doing this event with our community,
(03:15):
for our community. And what's super fun is the community,
the people in the audiences, they determine the winner. We're
measuring applause, decipels, and shears, and that's how we're going
to determine who the winner is at the end of it.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
So it's at Grand Rapet's Civic Theater tomorrow evening. Are
their tickets available at the door? Can we get them beforehand?
How does that work?
Speaker 2 (03:37):
You can get them a store. We would love it
if you've got them beforehand. You can purchase at GRCT
dot org, or you can pop down to the box
office today or tomorrow sometime between noon and five pm,
or just right before the show. We are doing a
five thirty to six thirty pm mix and mingle with
some small bites courtesy of Chef from Amoury and Chef
(03:58):
Tommy Fitzgerald. We also have a drink ticket that's included
in that price as well. And the performance is from
six thirty to eight and it is co hosted by
me and Jennifer Paswa at Broadway Grand Rapids. And we
have so many cool people on stage. People just aren't
going a lot to this.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
Smitty's got our big fan section though, I'm just for
warm he oh yeah, yeah, so.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
Serious, serious. It's got three different stations. We're drawing it
in from everybody.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
We will put the link in the podcast section at
Wood Radio dot com where this conversation will live, so
you can show up and please cheer for our friend. Schmidty,
Director of Marketing Communications at the Grand Rep Pacific Theater,
Nadia Skidmore. Great idea, Thank you for your time. Thanks
for not asking me because I don't want to do it.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Well, you know what, Steve, you're twenty twenty six, it's
going to be it's a no.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
Let me let me answer that question now, and oh,
I'll just sending money. Thank you. You know what.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
Yes, you can also make destinations in either of our
websites at GRCT dot org or for Broadway Ground Rapids
as well. We greatly accept that, appreciate it to you.
Speaker 1 (05:11):

money
