Speaker 1 (00:00):
They motion purchase now sending him back. Played fake fist
fires across the middle. Touchdown has this man on a
little crossing route. Jack Dahn holds it in in traffick
this with a bullet deer in South Christian on the board.
Fourteen to six hand off from left to right, cutting
off Campaign us all more off to the races. Twenty
fifty ten touchdown. He saw his senior brother do what
(00:24):
he said. I can do it too. Campaign takes it
from forty two yards out and the Bulldogs extend their lead.

We got a great show for you tonight. Two head
(02:30):
coaches that we haven't talked to before on the show.
Mick Enders supported Central High School, ranked number one of
the state this week in Division two, still yet to
give up a point on the season defensively. And then
Will Siffen in our featured game on ninety six to
one the game first every time we've done Holland High
in football as far as our game of the week coverage.
He's now in his fourth season and he'll tell you
a little bit about the Dutch and why they are
(02:52):
high flying with that passeat attack as we saw last
week against Comstock Park. Let's go into our first Montel
construction Coaches Corner, and this is a story we're excited
to tell you about. Maybe you haven't heard this name before.
He's now in his fourth season as the head coach
of Holland, revitalizing that Dutch program. His name is Will Siffin,
and he takes over at the time in twenty twenty two,
(03:15):
his first season, a club that was one in eight
a year before, and then in twenty twenty two they
weren't able to finish the season. They four foot of
the last few games because of a shortage of players.
Twenty twenty three, oh to nine. Then last year, coach
five and four. You guys are two and two and
what was a crazy game on Friday night at Comstock
Park and okay, silver play. Welcome to the show, coach,
(03:36):
and I said, I'm probably a few years behind, but
welcome to West Michigan and taking over this Dutch program.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
I appreciate that.
Speaker 4 (03:42):
Thank you all right, coach, So can you kind of
just bring us up today a little bit on your
background in terms of like as a player and as
a coach, and how you ended up at Holland High School.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
It's kint a little bit of a ride. I went
to destroying Hight Stevenson. I was part of the dynasty
out there. We won six regional championships in a row,
mentored with some really good coaches, so rick By is
in the Michigan Hall of Fame. After I graduated, I
went to Wayne State University. Played tight end there. I
was gonna transfer to switch to quarterback because I just
(04:13):
kept getting kind of beat up after a while, but
played my four years and then kind of left my
church open as far as my first position, and found
myself going back down to Texas. I was a military
brag growing up, so it wasn't too big of a
jump for me, but got to see real Texas football.
Was at Duncanville for a few years and then we
were kind of branched out a little bit, so we
(04:34):
wanted to get a little closer to home, and then
I found a home in Iowa. They were going to
pay for my masters and kind of bumped me up
in the coaching scale a little bit. Got my first
stint at Des Moines Hoover, was there for several years,
saw some pretty good success, something that we're seeing here
at Holland, and then got another opportunity to get back
to Michigan and it was on the west side, and
we checked it out, thought it was beautiful and took
(04:57):
the leap and now here I am at Holland Highest,
cool and trying to turn things around.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
It is beautiful. I love the beaches. Coach I got
admed I live in Pirates Center. I've been in West
Visit in my whole life, and there's nothing like Collins
State Park in that whole area and the community, the
way it's growing up. And obviously Hope College, you guys
share a field with them. But as you go through
and come here and like you said, for the first time,
see the place, interview, you know, ask your own questions
about it. What questions do you have that they answered
(05:25):
for what was a really struggling program at the time.
I mean they were just trying to get players out.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
I think you have to look deeper into the potential
of an area. It's definitely a strong community, a lot
of support, a lot of people out here and they
want to win, and so if you have that element,
then you can do something with it. So I took
the leap of faith. We've been grinding out, so we
got a new revamp s weight room. They just passed
the bond to build a new stadium as just I
(05:51):
felt that the opportunity was here and the people wanted to,
you know, put in the work to get where we
are and try to moving forward and take the program
to another level.
Speaker 4 (06:02):
We're talking with Holland head coach Will Siff and his
Dutch getting ready to take on building Friday night in
a big OG's case.
Speaker 5 (06:07):
Silver game.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
Coach.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
You know last year to go five and four to
have a winning season. I know you just missed out
on the playoffs, but how big of a step was
that for your program to win five games and kind
of build a little momentum.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
It was gigantic. Actually, every win from the beginning of
the season to the end mattered a lot of these
people in the fact that we won all our home
games in front of our home crowd to show them
that we're here, we're real. I know they won like
one game and the whole place went nuts, but it's
just felt that we owed it to them to win
(06:39):
in front of them, and to win big at times,
and to show that we are a strong program and
the support is going to something and not nothing. So
it's every win kind of built the confidence of the
community and the people involved in our program to show
that their efforts are going somewhere and that it all
mounts to something. And it was very special to a
lot of people, and I was kind of glad they
(07:00):
would help bring that to them.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
Well, with your college background, you know and can appreciate
when you start a program, you know that's one thing,
and you have to throw younger kids out there, right
because that's the way it goes. We've seen that twice over.
Matter of fact, Jason is a color analyst for Calvin
football now just in its second year, and they've grown
from year one to year two. But it wasn't too
long ago that we watched Davenport University in our own
backyard start a football program, hire a head coach, and
(07:24):
I just kept thinking, boy, you got to rely upon
freshmen and sophomores. That was before the transfer portal. And
for you, you've got two very talented sophomores. But it's
more than that, I know. But you're having to throw
young kids out there necessarily. But the games are as
they get experience, as they become more confident in their
skill set and playing at the varsity level, you see
results like you saw even in a loss on Friday
(07:47):
night to Comstock Park. I mean, two school records were
broken coach by two different guys.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
It was a very impressive night. I've had a couple
of times where i started a sophomore quarterback. Usually when
I do that, the kids are ready to play. Obviously
not at their peak, but eventually it will be by
their senior year. But you see a maturity build pretty
fast amongst some of these kids. You know, a lot
of people are kind of nervous of ruining a kid
or a player and giving them a bad experience, but
(08:13):
I don't want to put them in that position, and
I have the confidence that they will thrive and it's
basically irreplaceable experiences that helped build them into the potential
that they have. And sometimes kids don't get that opportunity
until their senior year, and some of these kids are
thriving early and it was really nice to see that
last Friday night.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
Let me share who those individuals are and then you
can comment on them. Coach Finn Galloway scored four receiving touchdowns,
three more rushing touchdowns for you, seven total touchdowns, a
game of school record. Many people remember these Holland teams
that included Corey Willis went on to play at CMU.
That is the individual that had the record with six touchdowns.
And then your sophomore quarterback Eli Walters through five touchdown
(08:55):
passes through for five hundred and eleven yards, which was
another school record, broke his own record from the Holland
Christian Game way through for three seventy eight. So talk
about those two individuals and how they lead your team.
Speaker 3 (09:06):
Both are very special players. They have great character, they
have great families that support them. Basically, they're here all summer.
They're willing to work and learn. It's just some certain
dynamics that you kind of take for granted, and when
you get it, it definitely makes a big difference on
the field. They both are ahead of their time, very mature,
still lots of potential. Finn Galloway a very special receiver.
(09:30):
I do predicate my offense. I'm balancing and giving the
ball distributed lead to all receivers, but sometimes when you
get it to a certain receiver, it just makes extra
special place happen. Even though I believe the rest of
my receiving corps is very talent and capable of doing
great things. It just happened to be that Finn got
all the touchdowns except for that one from Xavier Murphy.
(09:51):
Very impressive, seventy three your touchdown from Eli Walters and
who's a playing above himself and very mature for such
a young gentleman. But it's a lot more than just
you know, physical ability. But they put a lot of
time in the offseason and they're open to learning and
accepting coaching. So it's helped them reach the next level.
(10:12):
And basically they have only up and up.
Speaker 4 (10:14):
To go a wild game. A wild game one hundred
and nine points. You just don't see too many games
like that. And I know you wanted to win, but
to be down twenty eight and to rally back like
you did and you only gave up seven points in
the second half, what did you see from your team?
You had to take some positives out of that second half.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
Well, when you go into the first half, you try
to keep perspective on the team and say, it's only
three touchdowns, it's twenty two points. It seems insurmountable. It
was twenty eight at one time, but we got one
right before half, and then you just got to get
them to believe and the kind of wipe away the
negativity and understand that you know, we're here, we got
a whole second half of football. Let's get better, let's
(10:54):
keep improving, let's keep fighting. See what happens. And then
things start to kind of fall into place, and then
players are being made, and then they started to actually
believe and they started playing even better and we give
ourselves a chance. And yeah, it's hard to walk away
with the loss. At the same time, there's just so
many positive, amazing things that happened that night that you
just you can't ignore and you want to make sure
(11:16):
that they know it so they're not just hanging their
heads and realize they did still account for something great.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
So coach, this Friday night, we're excited to go out
there Ray and Sewsmith Stadium, home of Hope College, as
I mentioned, but also your home Buck Geno and I
have the call on ninety six to one. The game live.
You can also stream at nine to six onethegame dot Com,
and you take on the Bully in the Block as
I like to call them, because they're multiple Okay Silver
Conference champion in Belding. Two different offenses completely, but when
(11:42):
you look at Belding and Monty Prices Club. What do
you see? What's the biggest thing you guys have to
do on Friday night to try to get a victory.
Speaker 3 (11:49):
It's a very disciplined team, the very hard knows they're
always tough. They have a different dynamic this year, but
it's nothing to sleep on, and something that we need
to kind of focus on is being disciplined ourselves on defense,
trying to stop the run as best as possible, try
to get them into a passing concept because it's more
of our strength, and then kind of unleash our offense
(12:12):
and see what we can do with that. I know
we put up a lot of passing yards, but so
we try to balance it as best as possible and.
Speaker 6 (12:19):
Just go with what works.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
And we're gonna have to see how that goes on
Friday night and then just kind of combine the two
and try to come out with a w.
Speaker 5 (12:27):
What's the challenge for this prep for you guys?
Speaker 6 (12:30):
Right?
Speaker 4 (12:30):
Because you played Holland Christian two weeks ago, they're a spread,
throw the ball a lot count stock park.
Speaker 5 (12:35):
Similar.
Speaker 4 (12:36):
Now you get in and you face this flat tea,
you know, power tea. How different is the prep and
how hard is it to get ready for this kind
of offense when you haven't seen it, you know, in the
last couple weeks.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
It's tough. We try to keep tabs on it. We
make sure our preseason scrimmage is against the team very
similar to that we saw Poppa. Everyone brings a little
unique twist to it. But yeah, it kind of fluctuates
back and forth, trying to keep kids healthy, trying to
give a realistic prep in practice and show a good scout.
(13:07):
But yeah, it's definitely challenging because nothing's better than the
team you face and trying to replicate that. So you
just try to be creative as much as possible in
your drills and how you run team to get guys
more of a realistic view so when they get to
Friday night, they're not all shocked and ready to roll.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
It's gonna be our game of the week. On Friday night,
six o'clock starts to coverage. Looking forward to it. Holland
High head coach Will Siffen is joining us and coach
My last question is this looking at the Oka Silver
compared to even last year, how wide open it is?
I mean, Gawin Heights with a couple of wins. You
played a tight one with Comstock Park, you got Belding
coming up. Belding at Hopkins played a great game. I mean,
(13:46):
do you see this as a deep race that anything
can happen here?
Speaker 3 (13:50):
I think it's pretty wide open. It's very unique. I
think the dust will eventually settle, but there is definitely
opportunity and we try to let the boys know that that, yeah,
we dropped one, but we still have a chance as
we stay strong. And that probably brings true for a
lot of teams that are out there, and hopes for
everyone is kind of high, and so it basically means
every week can't sleep on anybody and be ready to
(14:11):
play because they're going to bring it.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
Coach, thank you so much for the time. We appreciate it,
and again, like I said, looking forward to Friday night
and Jason and I excited to finally get a chance
to talk to you and covering Dutch football.
Speaker 3 (14:20):
Thank you appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (14:26):
This is the LMCU High School Football Preview Show with
Brett Pikita and Jason Hutton on ninety six one the
game WMAXFM, Holland Grand Rapids.
Speaker 1 (14:35):
Time for our four pack. We welcome in Tom Kendram
Buck Gino to join myself and Jason Hutt will go
around the horn four different games besides our LMCU Games
of the Week for Week five, which, by the way,
Buck and I did make a switch last week in
case you missed it. We're going Okay, Silver Showdown Belding
at three and one. We'll take on Holland at two
and two out at Ray and Sewsmith Stadium, same stadium,
The Whole College in peter Stursma and the Flying Dutchman
(14:57):
play at six o'clock with the coverage there I'm not
won the game, and then Tom Kendra and Jason Nutting
love the call. Okay Redstown on the Lake Shore Grand
Haven at one in three taking on Westadawa Panthers, still
looking for their first win but have played it seems
like everybody tough. One oh seven. M us the moose
for that one again. Six o'clock starts the coverage with
(15:17):
the jan Hs Family Stores pregame show, which brings you
this segment. Now sixty plus locations across Michigan to serve
you Jane H's Family Stores stopping on the way to
your next game or on your way home rapid fire
is the way we go. We start with Tom, Kendra
and Tom. You're standing in your own backyard, the Big
Reds and Miskeigan, and we're impressive with a victory, a
blowout victory over Byron Center Ackley Stadium. They go on
(15:38):
the road this week in the Ok Green at Forest
Hills Northern. Who's now gotten back to back wins.
Speaker 3 (15:43):
That's right, Brett.
Speaker 7 (15:44):
Both of these teams started out zero and two. They
both won two games in a row. I want to
start out with Forest Hills Northern. You know what an
opportunity for the Huskies in this game. Playing at home.
They got Muskegan coming in with Skegan maybe looking ahead
to that big showdown next week at MoMA Shores. This
would be a huge win. I know they're looking to
get maybe a statement win. They want to be a
(16:05):
factor in the Ok Green. This is their opportunity. Junior
quarterback Owen Ostapo very efficient last week eight of nine
ninety eight yards in a touchdown. They got the great
running back and Colton Sawyer who went for over two
hundred against Forstfield Central. So you know I'm looking at this.
They're going to be fired up for this game.
Speaker 6 (16:22):
Of Skegan.
Speaker 7 (16:23):
They better watch out. They better be an upset alert.
On the other hand, they are getting their swagger back.
As Shane Fairfield said, you know it was two years
ago in twenty twenty three, they started out zh to two.
All they did was win the rest of their games
and win a state championship. You know, similarities. That team
had ma Kay Guy at quarterback. This year's team has
Lamar Bradford, who we were super impressed with Jason and
(16:46):
I when they played Rockford. It was when he got
injured that that game kind of got away from him.
But Keyshawn Drummer last week, that's what they've been waiting for.
Eighteen carry two hundred and ninety nine yards against Byron
Center and three touchdown eighty four yards, sixty four yards
and forty three yards. So that's looking like quite a
one two punch. So Miskegan's going in with confident forest
(17:09):
child Northern has a great opportunity at home. I think
this is going to be a great showdown.
Speaker 4 (17:14):
Well, to me, it comes down to the running game
of forrestles Northern against the defensive Miskeig and right that
big red defense much maligned through two weeks. You know,
they give up forty four to Grandville, you give up thirty,
including twenty seven in the second half to Rockford, and
they struggled to stop the run. Well last week, all
they did was hold one of the best running backs
in the state Campaigned at one yard rushing one. So yeah,
I mean, can they hold down Colton Sawyer and Owen
(17:37):
Ostapo because those dudes can really run the ball and
they run behind a really good offensive line. That's going
to be fascinating to me. That matchup Northern's run game
against Miskegan's run defense.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
All right, Buck, you know, I know that's your backyard forests, Northern,
where your kids go. So your thoughts on the Huskies
you and I have seen them in person so far
this year.
Speaker 8 (17:55):
Yeah, And I also think that they probably have improved
since we saw them last against Jennison, and they've had
two good wins for them. As Jason mentioned, Colton Sawyer
kind of finding his way and putting up some big
numbers in own Ostpoe the junior quarterback also helping on
the ground, And you're right, I mean they're going to
have to get it done on the ground. So many
(18:16):
of their players that have been injured during the season
and it's been a lot unfortunately for the Huskies. Are
the guys that probably would have been stretching the field vertically,
but that is what it is. They they've turned themselves
into more of a power spread attack and that's taken
a little bit of time to get used to, but
it seems like they've hit their stride and then the
scheme in same thing started off ohing two. Yes, they
(18:38):
played very good teams to start the season and that's
probably why they're OEt because they do have I call
him young, but clearly you know, as as a senior,
you know, not young, but as a quarterback without a
lot of experience in that era, you know, they've had
to kind of work around that. And now they've kind
of found their stride and being a Byron Center team
(19:00):
that feels.
Speaker 6 (19:00):
Like it's on the last.
Speaker 8 (19:02):
Legs and maybe against the Ropes this year just because
of a lot of injuries themselves, this seems like a pivotal
matchup in the Oka Green to find out who's going
to really be on top to kind of run with
Mona Shores. If Norton can get a signature win here.
A schedule does not get any easier for them, But
they don't get Mona Shores for another couple of weeks.
And you're right, Tom, the Skeagan looking at next week
(19:24):
thinking that is the game that they always circle on
their schedule, and this is a game that they cannot
overlook because if they go into that game with a
loss following them, that's going to kill a lot of
momentum that Shane has been talking about. So this is
a critical matchup. I'm in the same as Jason. I
think this is going to be looking at the defense
of Muskegan and how they hold up against a team
(19:46):
that is more of a power running game. Now, they
did it against Byron Center, but that was without a
starting quarterback as well. So they've played some teams that
are good but wounded, and this is no exception. So
this is a critical game in the Okay Green because
it's going m canna determined loosing to be up there
to run with more shore for the rest of the way.
Speaker 1 (20:03):
I think Miskegan defensively licking their chops here. I think
that trip to Ohio and I think, Jason, you refer
to this couple of weeks ago, Shane Fairfield talked about
that as you and Tom know, was a rallying point
for this team. Long bus ride right, you start to
gel you start to look at it and say, hey, guys,
we got to turn this season around. They know from
how Forest Hills Northern played them last year tight until
(20:24):
they pulled away late. What Forest Hills Northern is coming
in because a lot of those guys coming back. And
I don't think, guys, this is fortunate for the Huskies
to play this game on the turf because I think
that Miskegan getting to the edge with their speed. You
saw it was big plays eighty four sixty four, forty
three yard runs for Drummer against a pretty good Byron
Center defense that Buck and I saw as well. So
(20:45):
I definitely agree with you guys on the assessment. I
just think it's going to be a tough one for
Forestills Northern and I think it's gonna be tough for
the Huskies defensively to try and stop the speed of Muskegan.
Let's go next to Buck Gino. Forest Hills Eastern at
Grand Rapids, Christian and Okay White battle.
Speaker 8 (21:00):
Both of these teams coming in at two and two,
but they've gotten their very different ways. I think I
look at this one, and this is going to kind
of determine who's going to run with West Catholic and
that Okay White, Grand Rapids Christian very up and down.
They lose at South Christian, they go to Illinois and
they beat a team over there, and then they get
absolutely pummeled by East Grand Rapids and then they beat
(21:23):
a pretty fucky spring Light team. So you're thinking, I
don't know what I'm thinking about Grand Rapids Christian. I
don't know really which one of the real one is.
Maybe we find that out. Chuck King and his group
is starting to find a little bit of continuity offensively.
It's going to be the defense for Grand Rapids Christian
that's going to have to show up for silth Eastern.
I think it's probably played the weakest schedule in the
(21:45):
Okay White and they've got a team now that three
of their wins have come against teams that are three
and nine, So this is going to be a test
for them. They're playing a team got a little bit
more weight under the belt, and with jordan'ship by and
Kenrick Pengovic at quarterback, they're going to have to start
to show something on offense because Ben Reffords. Christian has
(22:07):
been pretty good defensively overall this season. Except for the
one game against the East Grand Rapids, They've given up
less fewer than twenty five points in every other game.
So this is going to be another one where we
look at this and we think, Okay, well, West Caalflic's
probably going to win the division, just kind of like
we thought with the Okay Green Motorshore is probably the
favorite now, but this is going to be a test
(22:28):
because now we're starting to look at playoff points and
everything else, orso Zeason kind of needs this one because
they've they've going beaten teams that have three wins combined,
and there's some other teams on that schedule that don't
have a lot of wins either. So for playoff point purposes,
this is going to be something that they're going to
have to win because the rest of the schedule is
not kind and they're going to need a signature win
(22:50):
somewhere and this might be it.
Speaker 5 (22:51):
I just look at it as the Okay White.
Speaker 4 (22:53):
There's there's a lot of teams that can win on
any given Friday night, and I think this is one
of those games where I think either team can win
the football game. I'll tell you this, West Callack has
to still be considered the favorite because they're the defending champs.
But you know they had their handsful of Hamilton last week.
I think that somebody's gonna win this game, and we
really feel good about themselves as they get closer to
that matchup with West Kelley Jordanshabaz three hundred and eighty
yards rushing five touchdowns already. I mean, he is the
(23:14):
feature back for Forestals Eastern. He's a really good one.
And then you look at Granpitz Christian what they're doing
with Chuck kingk Brecton Mousin little Wildcat. They'll hand him
the ball. The guy I love is Davis Hutt. He
plays center, he plays linebacker. I mean this, dude's a
two way standout. You want to win high school games,
you want Davis Hutt on your team. Watch number fifty
six in this game Friday night. I think it'll be
really close.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
Yeah. I like Forest Hills Eastern on the road here.
I think they have a little bit more as far
as line play and maybe some more players, but I
really like it. I'm glad you comment on Charlie King.
I mean this guy's just creative. He's a dual threat quarterback.
He will will his team to win if he can,
and they all kind of rally around him. I love
to see that, sort of like a Baker Mayfield kind
of player for Grand Rappids Christians. So they're fun to watch.
(23:52):
And like Buck alluded to, I mean it's like which
Grand Rappids Christian team is going to show up with
this matchup, because I think Forrestal's Eastern and West Ethic
are probably the two teams I would put at the
top of the Okay White right now off of what
I've seen, So this would be a mild upset in
my mind. For granted it's Christian even though they're playing
at home. Tom Kendra, your thoughts, you get the last laugh.
Speaker 7 (24:11):
Well, this is a great opportunity for Grand Rapids Christian
just like I mentioned with Forest Shields Northern, you know there,
Christian is two and two, but they're playing at home.
That win last week over spring Lake that snapped a
fifteen game conference losing streak for them, But now they
have a Forest Hills Eastern team which is gettable this year.
So I think you know they're going into this game thinking, man,
we could get a winning streak going here in the conference.
(24:33):
I think this will be a close game right right
down to the finish. But you know, Charlie King, like
you guys mentioned, is a leader for this team, and
he left them to a come from behind with last week,
and I think he's got a great chance to do
it again this week.
Speaker 1 (24:45):
All Right, we had the okay, Green, we had the
okay White. Jay's going next? Okay, Red, what are your favorites?
Jay Rockford at Grandville?
Speaker 4 (24:52):
Yeah, well, I struggled to branch out. I'm just okay,
Red dominant.
Speaker 5 (24:56):
It's a problem. I'll work on it.
Speaker 4 (24:57):
But listen, like I did not see Rockford beating camp
With last week, right, So I think that shook everything
up a little bit, and it just kind of shifted
everything in my mind. Like now I hold Selene in
a higher regard than I did. And anyways, the point
here is is Grandville three and one. Their only loss
was in overtime at cast Tech, who I believe is
the best team in the state. But you know, Jad
and Terry went down with that injury at Caledonia last week,
(25:18):
and I listen, Rockford's been really good at defending Granville's
flat tea offense over the years. Now, Granville did really
well in the playoff game last year at Carlson Munger Stadium, right,
but that was with the big game from jad and Terry.
No idea the status of Jadan Terry, but my guess
is he's not going to play. It certainly didn't look
good based on what happened last Friday night. Boy Brayln
Haney really stepped up in his absence, and a guy
I love is DJ Hardiman, right, I mean DJ Harden
(25:40):
was the fullback and a really good blocker. They moved
him to that spot where jad and Terry was like,
I really like DJ. Like, I'm not trying to tell
you there's not going to be a drop off without
Jayden Terry because just nobody's Jaden Terry. But like, I
think Granville can still be really good here. I wouldn't
rule HM out.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
All right, Let's go to Tom Cander first before Buck
Cheeto and I give our thoughts because we just saw
Rockford last week. Tom, go ahead, Yes.
Speaker 7 (26:00):
Classic heavyweight bout and you know, you know I'm looking
over at Rockford. You know, we're halfway through the season here,
and my choice for the Player of the year in
West Michigan is Luca hearn for Rockford. I mean, he
may not have the stats that some of these other
folks do, but you know, Jason and I were there
at Hackley Stadium and Rockford had nothing going. At halftime
of that game, they move Lucaharn into the quarterback spot.
(26:21):
You know, it's playing a little wildcat. He just sparked
the team, did what he had to do to turn
that game around. And then last week too, you know
against Eecet Kentwood came up huge, thirteen rushes for seventy
six yards, leads them to a huge win. You know,
nobody was picking Rockford last week twenty one to fourteen
over East Kentwood. The guys just a gamer finds a
way to win. But you know, yeah, like Jason said,
(26:43):
DJ Hardiman, everyone talked about Tank. Terry Hardiman was huge
in that win over Muskegan as well. So this is
a great game and as we always talk about, you know,
it's probably round one of two because they're likely to
meet again in the district, but should be another classic
Rockford Grandville game.
Speaker 1 (27:00):
Your point, Tom Kendra, he was our player of the game.
Luca Hearne. It wasn't because of his stats. It's because
when it was go to guy and they needed to
get a first out or needed to push it over
the goal line to get that winning score, Luca Hearn,
they went to and but you know, I'll go to
you next. You called it correctly. It's kind of an
old form single wing they went to, right, Yeah.
Speaker 8 (27:17):
I mean to talk about the injury situation. I mean,
Luca Hearn kind of did the old Kevin Nash mean
where he kind of rolled him out in the cast
and then he throws the blanket off and he plays
fifty five sixty playing He's including most of those in
the fourth quarter on offense. That quarterback and seen it before.
But and that's something that I thought that Rocking kind
of lacked. I'm always the big identity guy. You got
(27:38):
to have something that you do and you do it well,
even if it's not something that is popular or flashy. Wise,
I kind of feel like Rockford had gotten away from
that a little bit, especially last year. Offensively, they just
struggled in a lot of big key games or in
big key spots, they just didn't have what they should have.
They got big guys up front, they got tough kids
(27:58):
in the backfield, have the ball to somebody and run it.
Just run the dang ball. And I think that Rockford
getting back to that those roots that Ralph Munger had
planted many many years ago. And we talked to Brent
coming to every game, he was like, no, I wanted this,
this is something I've wanted and we finally got it
done this year. Well, it really has helped him because
(28:19):
it's saved your season in my opinion. I mean, Luca
Hearn coming into both of those games and really setting
its own. They could be one and three right now
if they weren't for Luca Hurt. I look at this
and think, boy, this is a game that normally we
look at Rockford Granville. It's a little bit of a contrast,
but boy, this one could be very similar. This one
might be done by eight thirty. I mean, if they
(28:41):
decided to just run the football on both sides, this
could be a really smash mouth old school matchup. I
just look at Grandville number one. We don't know Tank
Perry's status. We hope for the best, but you know,
the word that we're getting is not very much, which
tends to not be great. But we won't speculate here,
but even with him out, I think defensively, Grandville is
(29:02):
just gonna have to show up. That's been their achilles
heel really the last couple of years, and they had
a dominating performance against Rockford the playoffs last year, and
I think that's something that's going to stay in the
taste of the rams mouth. Also, this is a big
revenge game for them. Think that Rockford going to try
to get it done at Grandville because the last game
(29:22):
was at rock for a playoff game, and they also
played them at home during the Reguar series. We did
that game, and so this they're gonna have to go
to Grandville. And I think just the Grandville defense is
going to have to be ready because now you don't
know what you're in a get get Brayln Daniels running around,
extending plays, throwing the ball into some playmakers like Jack Teichsbauer,
or are you're just going to get hit in the
mouth repeaters repeatedly by a kid like Luca Hearn, Wyatt, Colson,
(29:46):
Nick Manner, all those linebackers playing fullback or running back.
That's just a lot to deal with if you're Grandville
and it's going to be a really tough game for them. Defensively,
I think more than the offensive.
Speaker 1 (29:57):
Side seniors riseing to vcasion one Allo bring up Sam Cummings,
who hadn't practiced much the last two plus weeks, played
well in that game. He is back at linebacker for them.
Makes Rockford different. And also Braydon Daniels. I did see
a difference in year two. He came off that perfect
game with Grand Haven. Yeah, he had a couple of
arrant balls, but boy, there were times where he ran
the football. His decision making was good. He protected the football,
(30:19):
didn't throw it out there or didn't throw an I
int And that's critical when it comes to a game
like this, as far as not turning the ball over,
protecting the ball and letting that ground game. Like Buck said,
take over, guys. Will end with Mine East Grand Rapids
at Norfew in the OK Black East. Grand Rapids a
tough loss ten to seven, a game that may they
could have easily won in that rivalry game with Grand
(30:40):
appis Catholic Central, but I think they're for real. And
then Northfiew at four and Oho but escapes a little
bit over Holland Christian thirty five to twenty eight. I
think this is going to be a heck of a
football game. I could see either team winning that. I
could make a case. I think the physicality, Jay, I'll
go to you next of East Grand Rapids is a
concern for Norfew. Not saying north he is a complete
finesse team, but they have a lot of athletes in
(31:01):
skill like to get in space where East Grand Rapids
can pound you a little bit.
Speaker 4 (31:04):
Yeah, this is a fascinating matchup and you look at it.
North Few's just struggled in the first half of games
this year. We save this part a game where they
just dominated from start to finish. But you know, they
had to come from behind in the second half to
win three of their four games at this point, and
they're not going to be able to keep doing that
weekend and week out. At some point They're gonna need
to start quickly because they're going to find a deficit
they can overcome. But this matchup is excellent. I mean
you can say, ah, Easter gron Rapids is zero is
(31:26):
two and two. You know they got blown out by
Lowell in week one, but I mean you just watched
the team like this defensively. Yeah, East Gront Rapids is
really good. I mean they're front seven as good as
anybody you're gonna find, you know, So how does Northview
match up with that?
Speaker 5 (31:38):
With their speed in space?
Speaker 4 (31:39):
Jalen gant Is, I mean, I mean he had four
touchdowns last week apart returning. I mean he's on another level.
Like love, Just match up should be a great game,
all right.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
Tom Kendra you next.
Speaker 7 (31:48):
Yeah, Northview comes into this game. They've won thirteen regular
season games in a row, you know, But East Grand
Rapids is a, like Jason mentioned, a team that really
intrigues me. Yeah, they got flattened by Lowell and that opener.
People forgot about them a couple of nights wins and
then last week, you know, really emotional game. But now
they're coming off in emotional luck. Can they get you know,
(32:08):
back psyched up again and play the same way they
did last week against Catholic Central against North View? That's
going to be the challenge for them. Don't forget about
the Pioneers. They're a Division three team. You know, as
we start looking at the playoffs, you know, Division three
is a little bit open. I would say this year,
you know, Zeland West was really the team last year,
you know, but this year you got Kenawa Hills, you
(32:29):
got Lowell again. But I think East Grand Rapids could
make some noise in Division three in the playoffs. As
far as Northview goes, you know, they had that great
regular season looking to repeat in the Okay Black, but
you know they're in Division two and that's a tough
road to hoe when you start talking about Mona Shores
in the Skeig and so. But as far as this
matchup goes, yeah, should be even. It might go right
down to the wire like last week's games did all right?
Speaker 1 (32:51):
Buck? Do you know you saw East Grand Rapids and
the scrimmage, you covered them for years. What are you
thinking about this matchup?
Speaker 8 (32:56):
Well, it's really interesting that people talked about these of
the Eastern Rapids senior you know, during the high watermark
of the Pater Stursma era. And yeah, they had guys
like Luke and Joe Glendenning, they had the Grady, they
had guys that could throw the football, and people kind
of forgotten that they played defense really, really well. And
(33:17):
that's kind of what I feel like here is people
look at Eastern Apids, they don't necessarily think defense just
because of the guys, the kids that have gone through
the program. They've got a really good defense. We saw
during the scrimmage that they're physical, they're big, but they
also can move. There was a lot of good things
that I saw from them when they were playing a
(33:37):
team like Hudsonville that can get sideline the sideline and yeah,
they're playing a D one team that's going to be
a little bit of a challenge. But man, they just
have so much upfront. The thing that I'm worried about
here and Jay even said their front seven is great.
Once their back and forth look like because Northia is
not going to be afraid put that ball in the
air with their quarterback and so that's going to be
(33:58):
something that they're going to have to do against. But
you're right, Gains on another level right now. They're multi faceted.
Last year we saw them, they weren't as good in
the past game. Well, Ryan Nashmak now has both sides
working for him and he's got a very good offense
and that's going to be the key for me. I
think it's going to be how does the Eastern Raffids
stop a team that is able to pass the football
(34:19):
and do it effectively. And then the other side for
East Grand Raffens, they're going to have to find the
way offensively. They've got to increase the offensive output because
other than Christian that outburst against Grand Rapids Christian, they
just haven't been able to do much. So this is
going to be a tough one, but it's going to
be a good matchup in the Okay Black All right,
thank you, gentlemen.

Speaker 1 (35:11):
Welcome back into this week five edition of the high
School Football Preview. We now are going to go into
another Montel construction coaches Corner, and I'm going to start
with little congratulations. You've probably heard before that I get
a chance as a voter of a panel on the
Detroit Lions for the high school football Coach of the
Week award. We do during the regular season and at
the end of the state championship weekend, we select our
(35:33):
coach of the Year with the Lions, and there is
a donation to the program involved if you're a weekly
on aree. And our next guest is four week three.
He is none of the Mick Enders sported Central High
School head coach and coach. Congratulations a well deserved honor.
You've been doing it for a while. How special is
it to do it as long as you have an
assistant coach first and now a very successful head coach
(35:54):
at your alma mater where you played.
Speaker 6 (35:56):
You know, it's really special. You know, it's it's the
comunity I grew up in. You know, it's a community
that I played in and just that continuity, you know,
just to be able to get back to something that
gave me so much is a real honor.
Speaker 9 (36:09):
Goat your four and oh and you're just I mean
role and outscore and your opponents one hundred and ninety
eight to nothing through four weeks and it's not I mean,
you played the Atlantic Weague one there in the state semifinals.
Speaker 3 (36:20):
Last year you played four so century too. They want
to stay champions two years ago.
Speaker 9 (36:23):
How are you guys making this look so easy through
four games?
Speaker 6 (36:26):
Well, it's never easy. There's a lot of hard work
behind the scenes. But I will say our senior group
has done a really good job. You know. We always,
you know, kind of put a little bit extra on
our seniors early on to kind of guide us through
until the younger guys can kind of catch up a
little bit. And they've done a tremendous job this year
so far.
Speaker 1 (36:44):
Coach. I'm always amazed. I get a chance to chat
with you and your assistants and stuff and the kids
when you come up to the Byron Center scrimmage, which
I always tell people is fantastic Rockford. You force those
Easterns gotten into the mix, but you guys have been
staples along with Byron Center, and it's just quality football.
Quality coach. But from day one in that scrimmage to
all the way through the season. When I think a
(37:04):
ported Central, every team has a mantra, right, I think physical,
I think defensive oriented. They're going to ground you out
and pound you with their offensive line and they're running backs.
Where did that mentality come from from the Mustangs?
Speaker 6 (37:17):
I started a long time before I was here. You know,
I played for Bob Knight, legendary coach here reported Central,
and way back, you know, early seventies, he brought the
split back beer. And you know, we've kind of established
that and kept that for for a long time and
recently switched to the flex blown offense. But they're very similar.
They go hand in hand, and I think we compliment
each other. You know, sometimes our best defense is our
(37:38):
offense limiting the other team's offensive skill players to get
on the field. And I just think it goes hand
in hand.
Speaker 9 (37:45):
Well, let's stay on that because that was something I'm
intrigued by because I you know, I go back to
your early days as the head coach at played at Central,
and you know, I always think of that line from
I remember the Titans and I run sixth plays lit
beer and like you guys had so MUCHSS doing that.
You know, I always think of Port of Center when
I see that movie. Anyways, I like you, as you
mentioned you switched offenses. I mean you throw the ball
(38:07):
a lot more now than you ever used to. Just
why make the transition and just how beneficial has it been?
How has it worked out for you guys, you know
through the years.
Speaker 6 (38:16):
Well, I think we're starting to see the benefits. This
is this is year four for us in it, you know,
and this is the first group that we've had all
the way through that have run the system since their
freshman year. You know. I just think it gives us
a little bit more flexibility as far as formations and
getting some kids in space and be able to do
some of the things that we want to do.
Speaker 1 (38:34):
Coach, you guys are ranked number one of the state
this week in the Detroit Free Press in Division two.
You know how tough Division two can be when it
comes to playoff time, usually running into someone from Grand
Rapids of the West Michigan area if you don't already
medium in the regular season. And I look at this
squad and what Jay said that you guys have done
this year against good competition and the smack West. As
you know, a year in and year out, there's all
(38:55):
these rivalries, there's always tough games, and you've still got
a lot of football to play. But you're guys have
kind of set the tone and they've built off of
success they've had the last few years with this group,
haven't they?
Speaker 6 (39:05):
They really have? You know, we have we have three
three seniors that are three year starters for us, you know,
and that that always helps, you know, the other other
pieces that you know, not go wood. We've been fairly healthy,
which hasn't been the case in the last couple of years.
So just kind of tying all those things together because
really kind of propelled us early on here.
Speaker 9 (39:22):
Quick you talked about your senior class and what they've
met and how they've kind of led this this season.
That's been so good so far. You know, when you
dominate opponents like you have to four weeks, how have
you seen them come to practice every day, still work,
still be hungry and not be satisfied with what you've
done to this point.
Speaker 6 (39:39):
It's a concert reminder. You know, we, like I said earlier,
you know, we we haven't accomplished anything yet. You know,
we're not in the playoffs the conference championship is still
wide open. You know. We we have a robbery game
this week with Mattawan, We have Porters Northern coming up,
and then to finish out the year, we have a
co conference champ last year Saint Joe. So there's a
lot of things that are still to be played and
(40:02):
you know, we just try and reinforce that with our kids.
Speaker 1 (40:04):
Ported Central head football coach Mick Enders join us here
in the Montel Construction Coaches Quarter of this week. He
was named the Detroit Lions High School Football Coach of
the Week last week for the State of Michigan and
coach I also think of you guys pump out college
football players every year. Take us through some of those
seniors you talked about, starting with six five, two forty.
(40:26):
He's a load three star recruit tight end linebacker Charlie Gillick,
who's already committed to UCF.
Speaker 6 (40:31):
Yeah, he's had a tributos start to the year. Last year,
he broke both of his hands ironically, you know, he
broke one hand early in the year and then just
when he was about ready to get the cast off,
unfortunately broke his other hand, you know, and it kind
of limited him a little bit on offense for us,
but so far, so good here at at the beginning
of this year, he's he's able to do some things
(40:52):
both offensive defense and he is the quarterback of our defense.
He's making all the calls the adjustments along with our
free safety Nolan bloom Quist. So those two have really
stood out as far as our senior leaders.
Speaker 9 (41:03):
Coach, you look at your times, head coach, You've had
some really good teams. I always go back to that
twenty thirteen team in one of its first twelve games
went to the state semi find a lot of nail
bier to the Skeigan at East Kentwood. When you compare
this team to that team, where are they similar and
where are they different in terms of, you know, the
makeup of the team, indion just how they go about it.
Speaker 6 (41:22):
Similarities, you know, I would say that, you know, the
physicalness is is pretty similar. You know. I think we
had a little bit bigger offensive line in thirteen. You know,
we had you know, Gerard Davis was a home run thread.
I think we're a little bit deeper in the skill positions.
You know, you just can't load up on one we
you know, we have Cam Noley a sophomore fullback for US,
Nolan Bloomquist at ABAG, Wendell Tomes, Charlie Gillick. You know,
(41:46):
the list just goes on and on, and I think
our depth is what really separates the two groups right now.
Speaker 1 (41:52):
Yeah, no way, Division I prospect keep your eye on.
He's six three, two hundred pounds, like coach said, is
only a sophomore. But I want to go to something
that I've noticed in the screen the last couple of
years when he was a junior last year, a senior
this year, and he's played with a lot of confidence. He's
got a strong arm. He's a baseball player, Ryan McNally,
and what he brings to what Jason said earlier, he
can take the top off the defense so they can't
(42:13):
cheat up on you, right.
Speaker 6 (42:14):
Coach exactly, you know, and he's got a big time arm,
and you know, as he's getting into our system a
little bit more, you can just see his comfort level.
Speaker 8 (42:22):
You know.
Speaker 6 (42:23):
He has commanded the offense, making good decisions, you know,
limiting the mistakes, and has had a really great sun
to the season for US.
Speaker 9 (42:31):
Coach, you guys always have such a great following imported essentially,
you know, One of the things that makes high school
football special is the community aspect, and they don't get
better than what you guys have with this strong start.
I mean, you guys don't have to be amazing to
get great support. But is there a feeling around school?
Is there an extra excitement considering you guys have played
so well so early here?
Speaker 6 (42:49):
Yeah, you know, our boosters do a tremendous joblege just
like any other program you know that has a following,
you know, the school, the community, you name it. You know,
the tailgate before the games and just to support just
a community atmosphere. You know, it's there's nothing white Friday nights.
You know, we we do it pretty well around here.
Speaker 1 (43:08):
Coach, I'll give you my last question to let Jay
finish up after this, but I got to ask you
about because we deal with it, as you know, with
Zealand East and Zealand West. What's it like with the
ported Central Portage Northern rivalry and the two schools who
used to as you know back in the day when
you played and coached a little bit, shared the same field, right, Yeah,
it was.
Speaker 6 (43:27):
It was a unique situation, you know where we at
one point we used to paint the goalposts, the winning colors,
and that stayed up for the year. So that has
a little bit extra juice to it. But you know
now that we both each have a have a phenomenal facility,
you know, I think there's respect on both ends. Definitely
from our end of you know, just the community these
(43:48):
kids grow up playing with each other, and just the
way a rivalry should be.
Speaker 9 (43:52):
All right, coach, So let's just look at the at
the West Division here. Obviously you've already beaten the Lake
Shore just five teams in your division. Now you have
three more games, including matt On this week. I mean,
it looks pretty I mean, I know you're probably going
to say this anyway, but it looks I mean, it's
it's pretty even. Right, you talk about Saint Joe in
week nine, they of course shared the league title with
you last year, rival Portage Northern and Mattawan this week,
(44:12):
I mean every week, right, you see this as you
got to come right to.
Speaker 6 (44:15):
Play absolutely, you know in two of those games rivalry games,
and you know Saint Joe is always going to be
a tough, hard pot game, especially going down there this year.
You just can't take a week off. You have to
show up every week, and I think that's the one
unique aspect to high school football. You know, you're only
guaranteed nine games, and you can't you can't take a
(44:36):
lighter than each one, and you got to show up
each and every week.
Speaker 1 (44:39):
He is the ported Central head coach. The Mustang's a
perfect four and oh they've outscored their opponents one ninety
eight to zero, as Jason had that stat earlier, and
he was the Detroit Lions high school football Coach of
the Week last week for the State of Michigan. Mick
Anders joined us coach, thank you so much, best of
luck this finding out against Madawan, and thanks for taking
the time.
Speaker 3 (44:56):
He absolutely thank you guys for having me.
Speaker 6 (44:58):
Have great rest of the year and hopefully we just.
Speaker 10 (44:59):
Get as we walk you back in don't forget on
Touchdowns for Kids campaign to benefit Kids Food Basket with
our friends at Lake Michigan Credit Union.
Speaker 1 (45:12):
It continued last week with eight total touchdowns. More of
a defensive affair, I guess give them the tip of
the cap and in week four that means four hundred
dollars we add to the total at fifty dollars per
touchdown with Lake Michigan Credit Union and our four week
total now is twenty four hundred and fifty dollars. Thank
you so much. You can make a donation. Find out
more about how you can volunteer your time or maybe
(45:34):
as a team or a group. Just go to kidsfood
Basket dot org. Well, final segment of the show meets.
It's time for our top ten rankings and also our
uptown Cheapskate players of the Week in jaalgo first going
into week five. Here's the way our top ten looks.
If you wonder or you want to check out all
the top fives of our crew, you can do that
at West Michigan oksports dot com. It's brought to you
(45:55):
by wind Shoolers. There's a little panel there you can
click on along with standings, fall sports schedules, whatever you need.
Check out West Michigan oksports dot com. All right, Hudsonville
is still my number one team. They have been since
the start at four and oh Eagles keeper only. I
think that's twelve consecutive wins now for them. As far
as the regular season is concerned, Grandville at number two,
(46:17):
three in one. They've got Rockford this week. Jayden Terry
goes down with an injury last week, but they did
get the win. Unity Christian is three for me at
four and oh Mona Shores moving up. Don't forget about
the Sailors. They're gonna try and spoil Byron Centers home coming.
They're at number four Rockford with that nice win at home,
they set a crowd of just under ten thousand there
at Carl Sumonger Stadium to watch the Rams get it
(46:39):
done over East Kentwood twenty one to fourteen. Thus the
Falcons dropped down to six for me at three and one.
Portage Central. I flip flopped with norf You've just been
so impressed, Mick Anders. Mustangs still yet to give up
a point on this season, so they are number seven
this week at four and oh Norfew is eight. Grand
Rappids Catholic Central that big field goal win over East
Grand Rapids do improve to four no at nine and
(47:00):
then Zealand West hanging on there at number ten for
me at three in one.
Speaker 4 (47:04):
Just to be completely honest here, I guess I didn't
realize we were counting Portage Central, So if I'm being
perfectly honest, I wouldn't have port of Central somewhere in
my top ten as well. I'm ranking Okay Conference teams
in River City's Alliance teams here, so that's gonna be
a big difference in our pool. Port Central would certainly
be I think a top ten team, so I'd have
no problem with that. But I so I have Hudson
Mill Grandville one and two, just like you do. I
(47:26):
have Rockford three. I mean, let's be honest. They lost
to Selene, who just put what sixty three on a
really good Dexter team last week. Yep, Selene's are really
good and so Rockford, you know, easily could have won
that game.
Speaker 1 (47:38):
And look what Mskegan did to Byron Center this week
and Rockford went there. You guys called that game and
came back and Hackley stand him against the big Red's
not easy to do.
Speaker 4 (47:46):
So I have rock For three, so I've okay, read one, two, three,
okay read bias, no question. I have Mona Shorres four,
same as you. I have a Skikan five. You don't
have him in your top ten. I still think Moskeigan's
really good. They lost by four to teams that I
have two and three East Camp when I've moved down
to six after the loss at Rock to have Northew
seven in Grams Caywoch Central eight. I moved Unity Christian
into the top ten this week for the first time
at number nine.
Speaker 1 (48:05):
Again.
Speaker 4 (48:06):
I just wanted to wait and see. With so many
new starters, they've proven it. You know, you have them three.
I mean, if you look at all four teams they've
beaten are three and one. Their only loss is to
Unity Christian. And then I have Kenawall Hill's steady there
at number ten.
Speaker 1 (48:17):
I think it's interesting, though, Jay, we have a lot
of teams that are still unbeaten at this point as
we go over the halfway mark. We like to say
four week five. But you got loll that's still unbeaten
there at four, and oh, Kadawa Hills is still unbeating
at four and oh nice win over the Cedar Springs
RedHawks for Don Fellows and the Knights and Luddington. They're
one that I know is kind of on the outside
like you're talking about, but I consider Lyingdon fun to
(48:38):
watch with the Oils at four. And oh and what
they did to Muskege Oakridge, putting fifty plus up on
Oakridge and shutting them out. Wow, I mean you got
to take notice, right.
Speaker 4 (48:47):
You certainly do. Cam Gunsel's outstanding. That's why he's going
to Fair State and you look at it. They'll have
Whitehall coming up soon, which I think will be their
toughest test. Yeah, decideer probably regular season, but the way
Lightning is playing, boy, I mean, it might be potential
matchup with Big Rapids in the playoffs. Big Rapids is
playing really good football too. That a huge win over
Tri County, who was undefeated last week, and then Uni
Christian maybe. I mean you start looking at these D
(49:08):
four potential playoff battles, you know, because at South Christian
at one and three, we're used to the South Christian
Union Chrisian thing. I don't know if that's going to happen
this year, So you know for Soils Eastern is there.
It'll be interesting in D four for sure.
Speaker 1 (49:18):
One of the things I want to throw out because
we didn't cover it in our four pack and we
have all of our four pack games are going to
be covered. Plus we got Orchard Field, Moschigean Catholic, Hudsonville
and Jennison with our game reporters this week. But one
game we should take note of that's big in the
River City's alliance is loll hosting Cedar Springs. It's the
pink Arrow game, but maybe the toughest test. I mean,
I know they beat these Grand Rapids. Besides ease Grand
(49:40):
Rapids coming up for the Red Rols.
Speaker 4 (49:41):
Well, it still to play Keniwa Hills as well. But yeah,
I mean Lowell and Cedar played twice last year if
you remember so. I mean this should be fun, This
should be a great matchup.
Speaker 1 (49:49):
What a pink arrow game, right when he going out
to Lowell to watch that one. So enjoy that if
you are for redro fans and always a special cause
with the Pink Arrow contest. All right, it's time now

Speaker 4 (50:14):
Well, I go with Grady Augustin and the quarterback at
West Katholick. He set the school record for single season
pass excuse me, single game passing yards four hundred and
eighteen of them through three touchdown passes, completing nineteen to
twenty seven as West Kelig needed him in a thirty
four to twenty one win over Hamilton.
Speaker 1 (50:29):
All right, now, I'm gonna go with Hollenheim. Excited to
see one of two sophomores. We talked about Eli Walters
a quarterback, But how about Finn Galloway for receiving touchdowns
three rushing touchdowns That snaps the school record of six
scept by the great Corey Willis, who went to Rama
Maters CMU and had a pretty good college career. Finn
Galloway will be on display in our game of the
Week against Belly Friday night. But wow, what a performance.
(50:51):
I mean, I can't even fathom seven touchdowns. Congratulations to him.
Speaker 4 (50:55):
He also had an interception because he played safety. He's
on Compact Park's first possession of the game, then had
a pick.
Speaker 5 (51:00):
I mean, dudes, unbelievable. He's in tenth grade.
Speaker 1 (51:02):
