was face guarding, but I don't think he made any contact.
He did make it difficult for Hoppa to come back
to the football. It falls in complete. There is no

There he was, Hoppa was hitting just before the ball arrived.
I thought he had to wait until the ball arrived.

and the Norse are in trouble and the.

throw a little behind him in and out of his

This offense is sputtering and a very athletic PW defense.
They're all over the field. They're like I said, there's
no fat on anyone on their team. They are an
athletic bunch and right now this defense is dominating the game.

Colbert back to kick, he kicks it away from his

The punt high end over and it'll bounce at that

The twenty five yard punt no return. But puamo Asveelia,
fresh off a touchdown run, is going to take over
in North Miskeigan territory at the forty and boy, the
Norse defense is going to have it on their shoulders
here to make a stop.

Yeah, this is huge right now, this last three minutes

try to make some adjustments and come and then turn

Puem mos Velia has had two drives go deep into
North Wiskicking territory. They've got it inside the ten in
the first quarter, but a couple of penalties ended up
forcing a turnover on downs and then their last possession
they drove sixty four yards and eight plays and scored
a touchdown. Here comes Tyth Thalen and running right, but
he's hitting the backfield and drop. Drew Gabriel makes the
tackle for a loss. An excellent play by the outside

linebacker and boy, winning first down is huge.

And that was a big play from number eleven. What
another great play by Gabriel. He was getting blocked there,
but he pushed through the block and was able to
take down Thalen right at the knees. It's a good
thing he did because he was really the only Norse
defender over there.

Well, you know, those outside linebackers are so good and
as Chuck rips to defense. And I'll tell you what,
Keith and Keith Kerzman and Drew Gabriel been really good
here in this first half.

Yeah, they've they've been standing out, no question about it.

Second out in thirteen for PW. Thalen in the shotgun.

especially when you got him in a third and long
and great coverage downfield, but Ty Thalen a great individual
play he has got him back in business two.

and the Pirates extend to a two score lead.

Wow, what a what a killer that was for Poamo again.
North Muskegan had him in third and long, but the
big play by Thalen with his legs and then there
with his arm he found his man, Caleb Blythe over
the middle.

Tie Thalen, the senior quarterback, will hold it, and the sophomore,
Kevin Hafner, will attempt the extra point.

He's hit and dropped to the line of scrimmage. Wilder
had an excellent kick return for North Miskegan. They're bringing
it all the way out to the Norseman forty seven
yard line. Got these home fans fired up for a minute,
but then on first and ten they try to run
it up the middle and not much there for Wilder.
It'll be second down and long clock is running a

Here before the break, they do have all three of
their timeouts remaining. Second down and long, Colbert in the
gun with Wilder to his right, using a lot of
the play clock here in Colbert drops straight back to pass.
With time completed, the Gabriel into Paemo wats Valia territory
down to about the forty seven.

That the kickoff returned Jay by Hunter Wilder was just
what the doctor murdered right up near midfield. And now
Bryce Colbert, I mean he hasn't completed a lot of
passes tonight, but he finally completed one over the middle.
Let's see if that helps him out a little bit.
I wouldn't be surprised to see if they take a
chance down field right here.

That last paem wat Pailia touchdown drive four plays forty yards.
He used a minute thirty one off the clock, and
it's capped with a Caleb Blythe nineteen yard touchdown reception
on the pass from Tythale. An extra point from Kevin
Hafner makes it fourteen to nothing, and on third down
and four. Bryce Colbert pass is caught the number twelve

Becket Hoppa inside the thirty five yard line for a
first down at the thirty three yard line, So give
him fourteen yards and Larry Wiham's going to use his
first time out with twenty seven seconds to play in
the half, and Northmuskeig has got a chance here to
try to get on the board before the break. That
Paemos pail a touchdown is another touchdown for our kids.

get on the board here. Really haven't done anything offensively
this whole first half, but sometimes that's what it takes.
You know, you get punched in the face a few
times and that wakes you up a little bit. So
maybe this offense after that nice kickoff return by Wilder,
that was a beautiful throw there from Colbert out to

Happa and you know who are the thirty three yard line,
only twenty seven seconds to go.

But with a guy like Colbert, he certainly can do this.

So in first inten Senior Braylen Burrew will be sput out,
why to the left, Beckett hop of the junior short
side right, Barto's in the slot to the right, and
it's going to be a screen pass. Colbert sets it
up to Wilder, who catches it, but he stumbles down
after a very short gain of maybe a yard or two,
and that's going to force the Norseman to use their
second timeout with sixteen seconds to play in the second quarter.

Unfortunate for North Mskeig because it looked like I was
set up pretty well.

It was a great play call by Larry with him
and he just stumbled there.

Was able to keep his feet, he might have been

maybe get ten fifteen yards, but as it is just
a short gain, another time out, so.

play by the defensive back for Plama Westphalia and North
Muskegan's you know, best drive of the half ends with

wager that the Pirates are just gonna fall on this one.

You know, they didn't get here till, you know, after

game right now leading Rockford twenty one to fourteen. Lowell thirteen,
East Grand Rapids seven, Jason's alma mater, Belding thirty four
to seven over Ionia and in a great game.

Forest Hills Northern fourteen, ken Owa Hill's fourteen and Don
Fellows he's a North Muskegan resident and his son, Grayson

it's Hudsonville seven Byron Center six, Grand Haven. I mentioned

them earlier that they're a team to watch. How about
this score thirty one to nothing over Stevensville Lake Shore.
So the Bucks off and running good game as we expected.
Oak Ridge and Orchard View. Oakridge leads at twenty two
to fourteen spring Lake fourteen, Fruitport nothing. And here's a
good back and forth game. It's been very entertaining at Coopersville.

Last report Luddington twenty, Coopersville thirteen, so watch out for
Luddington in that West Michigan Conference Lakes Division. And then
a final score Hopkins twenty Fremont eight.

if the Sailors and Mona Shores can't mount to come

If you're a North Muskegan fan, youel we came in
talking about this great backfield for North Mischigan. Colin Bartos
and Hunter Wilder haven't done much so far. Hunter Wilder
two carries for two yards, Colin Bartos three carries for
seven yards. The leading rusher for North Muskegan has been
Keith Kurzman two carries for twelve yards, but overall for

North Muskegan eight rushes for sixteen yards. That's not gonna
get it done. Through the air hasn't been a whole
lot better. Bryce Colbert four of twelve for thirty eight
yards and one interception so so far. Witham known as
a kind of an offensive guru, North Muskegan just fifty

four yards of total offense in the first half.

Flip it over to p W one hundred and sixty two.

Yards of total offense, so more than almost three times
as much offense for the Pirates so far. They've been
led by their senior quarterback Tythalen. He's been great on
the ground and through the air. He's the leading rusher
in the game by far, eleven carries for eighty seven yards.

Alex Nurenberg the junior, he has five carries for forty
two yards, but overall for p W twenty one rushes
one hundred and thirty two yards and the touchdown four
yard touchdown run by Tythalen. And then through the air,
Thalen three for seven for thirty yards, including the nineteen

So again the stats very one side at Jay PW
one hundred and sixty two yards of offense North Muskegan

I'll tell you what, when you talk about coordinators in
State of Michigan, Nathan Thalen, the defense coordinator a poemos Valia,
has got to be pretty high on any list that
you can come up with. They've won four state titles,
he and Jeremy Miller together at Poems Vileia and every
last one of them for the bat in the last decade,
they've had really really good defenses, and this is another
really good defense. And I don't think anyone should be
surprised because they're really good athletes. They coach them up

really well, and year after year they are tough to
move the football again.

Speaker 3 (18:30):
Very great point there, Jay, And even when North Muskegan
tried to throw a wrinkle at him, putting in Colin
Bartos in the wildcat, they weren't fooled at all. They
were ready for it. They've been ready for everything. But
in a game like this, one big play could really
change the momentum of this game. It could bring this
home crowd back on its feet. So I mentioned in

the pregame one of the keys for p W was eliminating.

The big play. They've certainly done that.

North Muskegan needs a couple of either a long pass
or a long run by Colin Bartos to get themselves

Well, obviously for North Muskegan, they've got to get their
athletes out in space. They just haven't been able to
get Colin Bartos or a Hunter Wilder out in the open.
They've got to find a way. I guess that starts
up front. But they got to get the guys into
space in order to make a big play and flip
it over to for Poamo, kind of a story of

doing what they're doing, I think they they need right
now with a fourteen point lead. The key to them
will be not turning it over and just possessing the
ball because pretty soon North Mischian is gonna run out
of time to make a comeback. Yeah.

the ball to start the second half. Hunter Wilder will
take it at his own nine yard line with the
head to steam up the middle. He will be hitting
dropped at about the twenty four yard line, and that
is where the Norse and Bryce Colbert will go to
work down two scores here early in this third Quarter's.

That time we saw more of a burst out of Hunter.
I mean, he's a he's got it takes him a
little bit to get going. If he if he had
a little bit quicker first step, he'd be able to
get through that get through that gap there. That time,
he seemed to push himself a little bit and made
a nice gain.

It doesn't get ahole lot better than this time. And
we're in for the first of fourteenth straight weeks high
school football.

God, it's gonna be a blast.

So Bartos moves from slot receiver. He'll move into the
backfield now to take Wilder spot. Keith Kurzman and Drew
Gabriel both in at h back and the pass is
going to be incomplete. Braden Burrell was the intended receiver,
but he tried to stop come back to the football
and his feet went right out from under him.

Yeah, just out of sync a little bit, this offense,
you know what I mean. And I think a lot
of that has to do with the athleticism of PW.
You know, you try in preseason practices to emulate what
you're gonna see in the game, but I don't think
there's any way to really emulate this PW defense, And
