Speaker 1 (00:00):
So now what those famous words Jonathan Savage, Fox News
Radio in London this morning after yesterday's historic peace deal. Jonathan,
thanks for doing this today.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Hello, good morning.
Speaker 1 (00:10):
So where do we stand today? We saw a lot
of we heard a lot of speeches yesterday and some
really remarkable emotional video of families being reunited.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
Yes, that's right. The twenty Israeli hostages who returned home
from Gaza yesterday have spent their first night back in
Israel in more than two years. No doubt, the emotion
and the highs of yesterday will give way now to
the reality of returning from captivity, and they will have
a long journey, many of them physically and mentally, to
(00:40):
get back to their former selves and start building towards
the future. But of course the momentum is there and
the support is certainly going to be there for them. Likewise,
I think for many Palestinians who were returned in the
West Bank Gaza from being prisoners or detainees of Israel,
almost two thousand of them, and there was great scenes
(01:01):
of emotion in those areas as well. So the hostage
crisis is over, the fighting has stopped, and many hope
and believe that's the fighting stop for good President Trump
among them. But there are a lot of uncertainties about
what's going to happen now.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
Yeah, and to that point, we haven't spent much time
talking about some two thousand Palestinians, which includes on that
list some two hundred and fifty terrorists. By some sort
of wording here, rebuilding you hope would be their priority.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
Right, Yeah, you certainly would think so. Gaza, according to
the United Nations, has over eighty percent of its buildings
destroyed or damaged. In Gaza City in the north that
number goes up to ninety two percent. So there's the
physical rebuilding to be done as well as the sort
of cultural and other rebuilding of life and trying to
(01:58):
get normal life back in place in Gaza. Amas. Meanwhile,
I don't know about rebuilding, but arguably reforming sending thousands
of troops and police onto the streets and areas where
Israel has withdrawn. There has been a gunfire and killings
between Gaza for Hamas forces and local clans, some of
(02:21):
which may be backed and supported by the Israeli government.
So there is now also in Gaza, while people are
trying to rebuild, the possibility of internal violence too.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
Wow, So talk to us a little bit about what
happened after all of the fanfare in Israel Air Force
one flies to Egypt. We're hearing less from that and
a lot more pictures. So anything more about And President
Trump said in his very long speech yesterday in front
of the Israeli Parliament something about maybe a peace deal
with Iran. Anything more about that?
Speaker 2 (02:53):
Yeah, a long and delayed speech, which delayed things in
Egypt as well. Yeah, there was a lot of big
talk and big hopes, especially yesterday by President Trump and others,
and he did mention the idea of opening up the
hand of friendship to Iran and cooperation as well. He
later went on to say beyond the speech that he
(03:13):
believes that Iran wants a deal, possibly on their nuclear
program and on relations with other countries. So, you know,
we wait to see whether that comes to fruition. And
no doubt President Trump, in his desire to create peace
and prosperity in the Middle least, would like to get
a deal done if the terms are correct. So we
(03:33):
don't have any official confirmation on that, just the words
of President Trump in passing when he went to Egypt
twenty world leaders plus with him there last night to
sign the peace agreement, and you know, arguably more symbolic
than substantive. He did say that negotiations underway for the
rest of his twenty point plan for Gaza, but there
(03:55):
was no one from Israel or Hamas at the meeting,
so you do wonder just how much meaning full progress
was made.
Speaker 1 (04:01):

Speaker 2 (04:04):
Thank you, thank you,
