Speaker 2 (00:08):
All right, let's play Monday Morning quarterback with former line himself,
an NFL insider, Tie Hellick. And it wasn't a perfect
trifecta for the Mitton state, but we'll take them here
with I think the fan bases and where we feel
right now. The Lions are rolling ty thirty seven to
twenty four. Nice win in Cincinnati. I know the Bengals
had a nice comeback in the fourth cord they scored
twenty two points. I never really felt threatened in this game.

(00:30):
In Detroit. They just do what they do. They've now
rolled the four straight wins.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
Yeah, phenomenal. You know, game really all the way around.
And when you talk about at times, so many times
after games you talk about different facets of the game
that maybe went wrong or a group that wasn't doing
as well, but the offense, defense, end, special teams all
kind of played a good part. Montgomery and Gibbs get
a couple of pair of touchdowns for the fourteenth time

(00:56):
in the National Football League. Tire record defense, three I
iNTS with Roberts and Joseph and Anzeloni, Aiden Hutchinson with
a couple of sacks, could have had a third one
but was lined up a little bit too close, and
Jack Fox our punter. Three times they stopped the Bengals
inside the ten, so contributing on all factors. Yes, they

(01:17):
gave up some plays, but I'm gonna tell you something
right now, how would you like to have Jamar Chase
on your football? Oh? Holy cow, what a good receiver.
And he's due his at some point, but those plays happen.
It is the National Football League. I get Bengals credit
for being competitive, but without their starting quarterback and Joe
Burrow and quite frankly, just having the type of team

(01:38):
the Lions does. Hard to come back when you actually
feel like you make a little bit of progress, and
the Lions do what they do, march right down the field,
Jared golf pinpoint and the running the football, get touchdowns
and get themselves right back in the control of the game.
Good game for the Lions yesterday.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
I think they say two out of three isn't bad.
Let's go to the other win that happened on Saturday
at the big House number twenty Michigan taking care of
business against pesky Wisconsin twenty four to ten. It was
only ten to seven Michigan and half and then they
stretched things out in the second half. And the one
thing you can say that's tried and true, the offensive
lines do a nice job. But how good is Justice
Haines nineteen carries one hundred and seventeen yards, two touchdowns.

(02:16):
He's gone over one hundred in every game of the
five games so far this season.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
Well, I think he's the he's the real key to
that offense and certainly is a great friend to Bryce Underwood.
The ability to run the football allows Bryce Underwood to
use his feet at times and get the ball downfield
when needed. And that happened, right, I mean eventually in
the third Later in the third he was able to
Underwood was able to connect with Donovan McCauley, who had,

(02:44):
you know, six catches for one hundred and twelve yards
for the game. But you look at the way that
the game kind of went, and when you read a
little bit about this too, the encouragement that you hear
in terms of Underwear becoming a leader is going into
half time. I'm only a three point lead and saying, hey,
we got to take care of our business and get
this done. Look, we said it on Friday. Wisconsin was

(03:06):
one of the best defenses, particularly against the run in
the country. There was going to be you know, Wisconsin
isn't playing as well as what Wisconsin has in the past,
but they had a component that was pretty good. And
I think Michigan answers the bell on this again with
the run game, the ability to have a quarterback that
that can make some plays with his feet but also
with his arm, and when guys like McCauley step up,

(03:29):
that type of stuff is winning football. That was a
good win.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
It's going to be a fun primetime weekend coming up.
By the way, Michigan at USC will be primetime on
Saturday night from the Coliseum. Then Sunday Night football the
Lions at KC to take on Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.
So there we go to. Now the drop off. Michigan
State goes to Nebraska and at one point they take
the lead in the third quarter twenty one to fourteen eight,

(03:53):
and childs a couple rushing touchdowns, but they just fall
apart on special teams. Defense played better, got some sack,
but Nebraska taking advantage of opportunities thirty eight to twenty seven,
they get the victory to improve to four and one.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
Yeah, you know, I look at this game and it's
just you battled yourself back into position and then figured out,
you know, ways to get rid of it. Special teams fumbled,
you know, kickoff return, you know, Aiden Childs, a couple
of untimed interceptions, which is not normally good, although we
get a couple of rushing touchdowns. You know, it's one

(04:31):
of those things that the end of this game, with
so many self inflicting wounds that you just weren't going
to get passed, but then you give up a couple
of big plays that come off those you know, those scenarios,
and it's just it gets deflating. And then you're in
a position where, you know, then Chiles is nicked up
a little bit and things aren't going the way you
want and they turned around and score on you. Where

(04:54):
do you find guys digging deep? I mean there is
there is flashes of guys that are playing really well.
I thinking at a high level. Jordan Hall at eight
tackles in an interception. But somehow, some way, when you
talk about what the Lions did yesterday, Offense, defense, special teams.
Michigan State's got to dig deep in all three of
those phases and figure out ways to do the right
things all game long and not give up some of

(05:16):
these opportunities and shoot themselves in the foot like they did.
