Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let's talk a little longer form about that conversation was
long distance. Just so you know, I'm not sure who
picked up the charges on that. I'm assuming we did.
We're very generous as the nation. Tanya J. Powers with
Fox News Radio in New York, Good.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Morning, Good morning.
Speaker 1 (00:15):
So what came out of this thing We've been talking
piece between those two nations for a long time. President
Trump in the middle to try to broker this thing,
any progress that we know of.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Well, I mean, okay, here's what happened. And it's called
the Coalition of the Willing. That is the kind of
the name for this group. And the call that Trump
joined was with Stelensky and these other European leaders, and
he basically pressed the European nations to stop buying Russian
oil as a way to you know, cut off funding
(00:46):
for their economy, which of course is how they are
funding the war, the invasion of Ukraine. This was also
just the maximum protection for Ukraine's skies was also discussed
in the in the portion of the call with Trump
and Zelenski and the other leaders. Of course, this is
all happening as Russia is continuing to bombard Ukraine with
(01:08):
you know, missiles and drone strikes, that is that has
not let up. Ukraine has been pushing for more US
air defense systems to protect the civilians and you know,
everybody there in Ukraine from these relentless attacks. The president
you know, said he did not want to did not
seem interested in sending more you know, financial support for Ukraine,
(01:31):
but encouraging NATO countries to buy more weapons for Ukraine's defense.
Of course, the US is the one who sells those weapons.
In addition to all of this, now we have information
that putin his comments made just hours after this, uh,
you know, pledging repledging basically of a commitment by these
European leaders to Ukraine. Uh. His comments said this is
(01:55):
this is what he This is a quote. If any
troops appear there, meaning foreign troops deployed to Ukraine, especially
now while fighting is ongoing, we assume that they will
be legitimate targets. He said this during a panel at
the Eastern Economic Forum in Russia. He also dismissed the
idea of peacekeeping forces in Ukraine after a final peace deal,
(02:18):
saying no one should doubt that Moscow would comply with
a treaty to stop its you know, invasion of its
its neighbors or its neighbor Rather, he said security guarantees
would needed for needed for both Russia and Ukraine. I'm
not sure quite what those, you know, he thinks those
should look like. You know, it's important to remember that
one Putin is a dictator and two they did the
(02:41):
invading of Ukraine. So this is you know, like I said,
these comments have come after this meeting and this phone call.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
And at a time when Putin is high profile with
President of China and Wikim Jong un and Mody. Yeah,
so we will keep our eye on just what could
possibly be next on the piece process. Fox News Radios,
