Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, let's stay in Michigan as it relates to Washington,
d C. After Representative Shri Tanadar of Michigan stood on
the House floor, this is West Michigan's morning news. Steve
Kelly read Bikita. It is Ryan Schmells with Boxing News
Radio Ian Washington, d C. Ryan, thanks for doing this today.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Yeah, of course, thank you.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
So after the first Trump administration, I sort of thought
we'd see more of these and when they started to
talk about impeachment, thought this thing might get some legs.
But is there bipartisan agreement not.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
To do this? Pretty much? Yeah, there was a report
from Axios that during a closed door meeting amongst Democrats,
some members use words like dumb to describe it, and
they really just did not like the timing. At one
point just had a number of co sponsors. Eventually, as
co sponsors pulled their names from the bill from the
(01:00):
articles of impeachment, and Democrats leadership eventually said that they
were going to with against this and pretty much tell
their members to vote in favor of a motion to table,
thus killing the resolution. So this kind of went up
in flames and was over faster than it began.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
Give us a little recap. What was he thinking about
in the first place when he introduced.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
It, Well, I mean, he felt that Donald Trump had
committed high crimes and was impeachable. You know, he felt
that there were examples of corruption, that there were examples
of maybe insider trading with some of these tariff deals.
And then of course, now you know, he believes that
President Trump had violated due process with some of these deportations.
So I think that was the big justification he was using.
(01:46):
And I mean it covered a number of Litania things
and accusations towards the president. But you know, just it
didn't seem like Democrats are really in the mood to
be pursuing this right now.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Yeah, so I guess what more do we know about
what that mood looks like. I mean, obviously that doesn't
mean they're in favor about what the president is doing.
They're just not thinking they're going to have the boats
to pull something like that off.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Well, let's just put it this way. I'm sure you
saw the images of Debbie Dingle sleeping at the committee
hearing this week. You know, this was a long week
on Capitol Hill. There were hours upon hours worth of
committee hearings, and markups, especially surrounding the one big beautiful
bill in the case of the hearing that Debbie Dingle
(02:34):
was in, and you know, they were in that Energy
and Commerce hearing for you know, well over twenty four hours,
and so people here are exhausted, and there's a lot
of effort amongst Democrats to try and kill this one
big beautiful bill there, you know, there are they're making
the claim that this is going to kick people off Medicaid,
this is going to lead to a number of concerning things,
(02:57):
and I just think that Democrats felt that that's should
be their big focus right now, not impeachment.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
That is Fox News Radios. Ryan Schmels in Washington, DC
this morning. Thanks for your time today.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
Of course, I have a good one
