Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let's get to peace talks yesterday and a lot talked
about and it was well attended on the story this
morning with Fox News Radio we in Washington.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
D c.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
Ryan Schmelz, Good morning, kind sir.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Oh, good morning, good sir. How are you so?

Speaker 1 (00:14):
The President of Ukraine is there? But European leaders included
the French president and the British Prime minister. And what
did we find out yesterday?

Speaker 2 (00:26):
I think a lot of the Ukraine Hawks were very
happy that you had the European leader because, you know,
I think there was just always this concern that with
the language barrier and just the tension between Trump and Zolynski,
that things could get out of hand again. So presidents
could have that back up there just in case things
got off the rails. You know, I think that was
that was a si relief, and you know, Trump didn't

(00:47):
really try to challenge the Linskin anyways. Yesterday it seemed
like they seemed very cordial to each other. They both
have had their moments in the Oval Office and some
of the back and forth President Trump had and I
wouldn't say it was contentious at all, but a little
bit of disagreements here and there with some of the
European leaders. But for the most part, I think people's

(01:08):
viewed yesterday as a success so far. The big issue
is going to be, you know, what's what's russ and
President willing to accept and what what can they do
moving forward?

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Well, I guess some of the big issues CRIMEA and NATO.
So where do you And it seems like everybody was
happy with this yesterday and those seemed like some pretty
big deals to me.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
Yes, and and I think that that the United States
Ukraine are starting to accept that just the NATO membership
part of this is not is probably not going to happen,
or it's just gonna be a it's a it's a
non starter for Russia. But the idea of the security guarantees,
I mean, President Trump is marketing and is if they're
on the verge of being NATO membership because like it's

(01:53):
the second best thing native membership. So the Russia has
pretty much said that they're not there. That's a non
startup for them. They don't like this idea of Ukraine
having NATO security on its border and all that. So
we will see what they're would they are willing to
negotiate from here on out.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
Yeah, if they fast tracked NATO in the middle of
this thing, it's World War three, right, there's no way
around saying that. But according to the way that I
saw the Secretary of State Rubio point this thing, and
you just alluded to it, it's one step away from NATO,
meaning that we're selling them weapons now and will somehow

(02:29):
secure the weapons. How did they worry it yesterday?

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Well, one of the ways in which they could secure
the weapons is that the United States. There's a bill
going through the Senate right now that's bipartisan and what
it would do is, essentially, it would give the United
States the authority to make weapons. They would be purchased
by European countries, So European countries would give the United

(02:53):
States money, the United States would make the weapons and
then send them over to Europe, and then Ukraine can
use them forecurity. So that's kind of a way to
take the politics out of out of the Ukraine conflict.
And when people say, well, why is the United States
prioritizing this country and spending all this money overseas, well,
here's a way for the United States to not spend

(03:14):
money but still do its part.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
So the next step some sort of trilateral thing. Everybody
seems on board. Will keep you posted when we know
when it's going to happen. Ryan Schmels with Fox News
Radio I in Washington, d C. Thanks for your time today,
of

Speaker 2 (03:29):
Course, thank you,
