Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is West Michigan's Morning News. Joining us on the
live line on the story at the White House. Ryan
Schmells with Fox News Radio. Thanks for doing this today.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Ryan, Yeah, of course, good morning.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
So the President and we were going to talk a
little bit about the big beautiful bill. He's doing some
side work at the G seven, but he wanted to
come back for more important matters. Talk to us a
little bit about what you heard and what's going on
right now.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Yeah, well, the President said during a daggle that the
important matters were obvious for why he's coming back. You know,
I'll talk about probably some of the issues with going
on in Iran. In Israel, he says that he's looking
for more than a ceasefire with Iran. You know, he
said he wants people to be safe. When he was
asked about the Tehran evacuation order that he put out

(00:48):
last night, asking everyone in Tehran, you know, a country
of millions of people to evacuate, and he possibly could
say send jd Vance and Steve Whitcoff to meet with Iranians.
It depends on what happens when I get back.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
Okay, Well, I wanted to play for you something that
Senator Lindsey Graham said yesterday.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
Wouldn't the world be better off if the I tootals
went away and replaced by something better? Wouldn't Iran be
better off?

Speaker 1 (01:14):
So is he telegraphing some sort of movement from the
United States.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
I don't know. It's kind of hard to know. Lindsey
Graham is not you know. You know, he's the Budget
committe chairman right now. He's been pretty adamant about his
support for Israel in the past. You know, I think
he's taken kind of the he's taken a lot of
criticism from the MAGA wing of the party when it
comes to some of these conflicts. So whether he's got
the sway to tell Donald Trump you should go to

(01:41):
war or whatnot, I don't know if that if that's
if that's if that's really way too much into that.
But you know, he has talked to you he's he's
one of the people who would like to see regime
change in Iran. And I think those who've been pushing
for regime change in Iran are a little in bolden
right now because look what happened in Syria where Bashar
al Sad was overthrown and now you have a regime

(02:03):
there a new president in Syria who, from what we
have seen so far, has been willing to work with
the United States, has been willing to address a number
of the United States concerns, and has been in many
ways he started off as a partner. Of course, there's
I think a little bit of a cautious optimism with
that because of this person's past. But I think people

(02:25):
look at Syria, which just went through a regime change,
and say that Syria isn't a way better place than
it was two years ago.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
I think it is important to point out, though, Ryan
and a little more on that, that the President did
either strongly disagree with the idea of taking out the
aetola or vetoed that thing in the whole in the
first place.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Yeah, and President Trump has, guys, kind of made it
clear that he does not want to get involved with
this conflict outside of they as of right now defensive position.
But he's also had to make it. I mean, it's
a balancing act, plumb, right. You know, he got elected
on saying We're not going to get involved in these conflicts,
you know, But at the same time he has made
it very clear that he supports Israel and also, you know,

(03:06):
he's Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. He has said
that peace through strength is not peace when Iran has
potentials to have nuclear weapons. So it's it's it's a
very delicate situation to be balancing for President Trump.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
At the White House this morning, Ryan Smells with Box
News Radio.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
Thank you, of course, thank you.
