Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well as one of the things Putin wasn't really fired
up about. So there were some meetings yesterday on that
story in London this morning Fox News Radios Jonathan Savage,
thanks for doing this today, Jonathan.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
Thank you for having me so.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
We hear talks between Special Envoy Win Cough went late
last night. What was talked about and how was it received?
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Well, they certainly went on late after midnight to Moscow
time by the time things wraps up, and we were
told that what they talked about with the idea of
Ukraine giving up territory but also future economic cooperation between
Russia and the United States, and that Russia were told
received four additional documents beyond the revised plan for peace,
(00:46):
So a lot to talk about, but not much agreed.
The talks were described by constructive, very useful and substantive,
but there's no compromise being offered by the Russians in
order to reach a piece and there's clearly some very
hard work ahead.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
So there was a report back to Zelenski that was
at least in the Fox story that I read to
be done afterwards. Do we know is he briefed on
what they talked about and what did he have to
say about that.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
The plan was that Vladimir Zelenski would be debriefed in Brussels,
Belgium by Steve Wikoff and Jared Kushner, the two main
men in the American delegation, but that was abruptly called
off and the Americans were said to be heading directly
back to the United States, probably a sign that things
(01:35):
did not go exceptionally well. Some people have said that
Vladimir Putin rejected the plan, the Kremlin today saying it's
wrong to say that he rejected the plan, and this
was simply a first exchange of opinions. But it's clear
the opinion of Ladimir Putin was not, let's go for
this right now.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
Oh it's so nothing else on the table in the
immediacy about talks between the three.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
I think we need to figure out what happens when
the American delegation gets back to Washington and Deep briefs
the president, and then President Frank will decide what's going
to happen next. He has said that he will talk
to Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelenski face to face, but
only when a deal is close. The Ukrainians say that
they are happy to go to Washington, DC whenever because
(02:22):
they want to achieve real and lasting peace.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
Interesting though, with the United States involved, when we talk
about opportunities for economic partnerships between the United States, Ukraine,
and Russia, I suppose this thing is all about land
and money and power to begin with. I'm interested to
know what specifically those things were talked about.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
Yeah, I'd be interested to know that too, but we
haven't been given many details about that. There's no official
American statement that we have on the talks or for
what was possibly offered to Russia. We do know, of course,
the Trump administration has looked at economic cooperation as being
(03:07):
part of the future of peace in Ukraine for a
very long time. You'll remember that rare earth minerals deal
that was done earlier this year, which would give the
United States a stake in the in Ukraine, generally and
arguably a stake in ensuring there's peace in the future,
but also seen as a way for the United States
to get some sort of return on the billions of
(03:29):
dollars that is plowed into the war.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
Fox News Radios Jonathan Savage in London, thank you, Thank you,
