Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is West Michigan's Morning News. Steve Kelly and Brett
Katas Schmidty back with us soon. We are one week
away from Halloween. This is West Michigan's Morning News, and
Tanya Jay Powers joins us with Fox News Radio. Good morning, Tanya.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Hey, good morning.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
You your kids have their Halloween costumes all figured out.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
They are a little older, so yes, they've they've been
planning their Halloween costumes for white. Sometimes it becomes a
thing I think will or when maybe when you're an
adult and you dress up for Halloween and you're like, Okay, this,
I'm going to plan this and I'm going to get this,
and this is going to be the coolest thing ever.
It's like very creative. Not the little kids aren't, but
(00:48):
they seem to put a lot more emphasis on theirs
now than they used to.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
Are you the mom that dresses up when you're handing
out candy?
Speaker 2 (00:56):
You know, I normally don't hand out any candy because
here in the city, little kids trick or treat around
the neighborhood like its stores. They don't normally come through
your apartment building because you know, everything's like security, so
you're not probably not you know, random people aren't aren't
parading through your building most of the time, so here
(01:16):
they it's always a lot of fun to go, like
wander around the neighborhood and the little trick or treaters
are going everywhere and little they're having so much fun
and people get their pets dressed up, and it's it's
just a really cool festive thing that I've never I'm
not seen I've not seen it done like this anywhere else.
It's kind of cool.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
We've talked about the price of candies up this year.
What are people buying what we're always the little candy
bar people and then for the super cool close neighbors
or people we know, we sneak in the full size,
so we're discriminatory about how that works out.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
What are they handed out? Well, the the biggest selling
Halloween candy and what they looked at? What was the
top ordered candy on Instacart last year in October to
you know, kind of see last last Halloween. Reese's peanut
butter cups. It seems like it is the perennial favorite.
It It's been that way for quite some time, followed
(02:11):
by peanut Eminem's regular eminems and kit cats that seems
to be where our you know, we love us some
chocolates and so like. Number one through four are are
those the interesting notes that they had with with this
From the information that I found, and by the way,
you can actually look this up. It's been food and wine.
(02:33):
They had this article about Halloween candy and that's they
talked about the Instacart numbers. One of the other things
they said was Utah household purchased fifty percent more candy
than the national average, while Florida, New York and California
ordered the least, which I had no idea why. There's
(02:53):
just what this is just what was the numbers that
they had found when they looked at you know, who
ordered what on instacart last October.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
So, Tanya, what I think is interesting is costumes, and
you know you're getting older when you don't recognize any
of the costumes the kids dress up with anymore, which
is going to be the case I think for a
lot of people.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Now.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
Thank goodness, we have Smitty our Post who kind of
joins us on the show and she's got younger kids.
But K Pop Demon Hunters is dominating the list right now,
which I don't even know what k Pop Demon Hunters is. Uh,
but hell yeah, there you go.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
It's probably better that way.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
Yeah. If you look at Google Trends, they have the
fright Geist, which is where they ranked the costumes and
numbers one through five are kip Hop Demon Hunters that
obviously the main characters are you know, number Rumy, Zoe
and Mira are number one, two and three. They said
purple hair has been searched more than ever. Uh and
that's only you know, because we clearly didn't you know,
(03:46):
have you know that available to us to search in
the eighties. But if you look at the rest of
the top ten, you've got there's there's the chicken Jockey
from Minecraft that you know, that movie has been huge,
the La Boo Boo that is number seven. Also though
from Wicked is number nine. The lower axes ten Hamilton
costumes are number eleven. Glinda from Wicked is number fifteen.
(04:10):
Oh I forgot you have too, Flips from How to
Train Your Dragon at number fourteen, and Supergirl and Superman
at eighteen and nineteen. Those are some of the big
notable ones there in the top twenty that they that
Google Trends has found from that people are searching for
so you. Probably chances are pretty good you're going to
see some kpop demon hunters out there on Halloween.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
It's time to Jay Powers with Fox News Radio in
New York. Thank you,
