Speaker 1 (00:00):
Oh, turn on your cassette recorders. I think this is
going to be a good one. This is West Michigan's
Morning News. Steve Kelly, that's Adam Morocho, Brett Meakita, and
Lawrence Smith. You've made it to Tuesday, June third, twenty
twenty five. For that is an accomplishment for many, So congratulations.
Let's get to today's top five.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Schmidty Number five. Walt Disney World has a bit of
a wet lawsuit on their hands. A man who was
over a ride's weight limit says he was launched into agony.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Eugene Strickland, who weighed three hundred and thirty four pounds
when he hit the downhill Double Dipper at Disney's Blizzard
Beach despite the three hundred pound weight limit, says the
ride sent him flying, left him with permanent injuries. He says,
catastrophic pain, scarring, and an alleged loss of the ability

(00:47):
to enjoy life. He claims the design of the inner
tube caused to slide out from under him.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
Did he lie about his weight? I mean, I know
I'm not making fun of him. My weight's gotten away
from me, for sure.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
That's what Disney says, They're like, well, you saw the
three hundred pound limit. You knew that the tube might
not hold you up as.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
A bigger fella. They're not weighing you way you get
up on the stairs. It's the honor system, right.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
Yeah, that's so. It's same thing about little planes when
they say, got to put enough fuel in for y'all
to be honest.

Speaker 4 (01:20):
I actually saw something at Universal. We were down at
spring rit I've never seen someone though on the Hulk ride.
It's it's one of those where it goes over you, you know,
the app you shoulder.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
He was no, he was two.

Speaker 4 (01:36):
Big upper body wise. This guy was like a wrestler
or something. And they couldn't they couldn't get it seatbelted down,
so he had to.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Leave the ride.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
Like at least you got to feel good about Hey,
I've been working out right.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
That sounded we love you. It's not about you.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
No.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
There were four of the lists. Police in Florida shared
a photo of a bear rail The police in Florida
sharing a photo of a bear taking a nap in
a construction lobby of a condominium building. That's that's number four.
He just wandered in and sure it was a bear, right,

(02:14):
bears don't care. Okay, No, it was, you know, a
little heavy, but I don't think that's why he fell asleep.

Speaker 4 (02:20):
At number three history in the making. Last night in
women's college softball, if I can get it to play
and no, it was exciting.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
Yeah, yeah, here we go.

Speaker 4 (02:34):
Well, I'll tell you that Texas Tech had a walk
off moment against the not one, not two, not three,
four time defending national champion Oklahoma Sooners. They knocked them
out in Texas Tech gets their first ever in school
history Women's College Softball World Series championship birth.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
What's a Sooner?

Speaker 4 (02:55):
A Sooner? Yeah, that's when they were you know, exploring,
not exploring, but they were taking. I mean they opened
up Oklahoma where they could grab their land where they
wanted to. And so the Sooners were the people that
because they just flew out there and their wagons and
claimed their land.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
That's that's where it came, like Tom Cruise and yeah,
exact far and away exactly. I am so impressed that
you knew that, not a clue. I thought it was
all like a animal.

Speaker 4 (03:20):
No, that's why don't you ever see at their football
games they have the little ponies come out. They have
the wagon and everything and they're flying across the field.
Never saw that boomer sooner. That's what it's from.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
Number two and number two. Two motorcyclists in Florida are
recovering after they hit a six foot long alligator in
the middle of the highway. Well, they got a motorcycle
motorcycle while they were driving. Sixty seven year old Cameron Gilmore,
speaking to the news from his hospital bed.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
I said, help me Jesus, and I just kept flipping.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
I'm like, when is this going to stop.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
Both sustained minor injuries. The state of the alligator is unknown,
but the picture of the news shared has its head
blurred out, so I'm assuming he's just fine.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
I mean, honestly, those things.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Are huge concussion steptic pen, little band aid. He'll be okay. Finally,
number one on the list.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
Hopefully.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
This is something you will not hear every ten minutes.
Reported in traffic today, but a tractor trailer crash on
a Washington road set an estimated fourteen million bees loose
near the Canadian border, causing the roadway to be closed
for twenty four hours. It's a lot of bees, talk about.
So they got smoke, because it's a lot of smoke

(04:38):
coming down. They got bees and this listen, Canada, We
feel for you. The what Come County Sheriff's Office said
the truck was carrying more than seventy thousand pounds of
honey bee hives when it rolled over between Loomis Trail
and West Badger Roads. Just in case you're following along
at home. Originally it was reported to be two hundred

(04:59):
and fifty million bees, later amended to fourteen million. That's
kind of a difference there.

Speaker 4 (05:03):
I thought you meant the smoke to corralum, so they
could have used the wildfire smoke.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
Oh yeah, please get out of your cars and fan.
That's today's top five. My gosh, we're lucky.
