Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift Engaged!

News broke yesterday of the engagement of Kansas City Chiefs Tight End Travis Kelce and Pop Star Taylor Swift's engagement. NBC News Radio National Correspondent Rory O'Neill joins us with the details

real news came yesterday that Travis Kelcey and Taylor Swift
are going to tie the knot. Rory O'Neal, NBC News

I talk about rocket launches, executions, hurricanes, politics, gaza. I've
never had to do so much homework on a story
in my life for this one because I know nothing
going into it.

We have a positive reaction from the White House, even
it appears as if this is our version of a
royal wedding ahead.

Speaker 3 (00:48):
Where were you.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
When you heard the news that the engagement had been announced.
You'll never forget.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
They everybody seems to like these two people, right, Why
not root for him?

Speaker 2 (01:01):
I think the only danger now is just over exposure, right,
I mean, you know, she's got a new album coming
out in a few weeks. He's got the NFL season
just about to start, you know. Now, you don't want
to just turn out to be sick of them eventually.
And yeah, we've all seen those backyard photos now, and
apparently they were engaged almost two weeks ago. According to

Travis's dad, who spoke to a local TV station that
this happened nearly two weeks ago in Travis's backyard. He
said they were about to go out to dinner. He said, hey,
why don't you come out. Let's have a glass of
wine in the back before we go, And that's where
he popped the question.

That's his back yard. I mean, well, it looks like
a tropical.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
Island, right those are We don't know how that was
set up for the engagement photos. That's typically it, the
actual engagement versus the engagement photo session. Plus I mean
her hair was done, the makeup was done, the thing.
You know, we don't know what they were up to
or even where exactly.

So, Rory, I've been predicting this for a while while,
and I think now this totally makes sense to know.
The NFL weighed in on their congratulations as a league
to these two. Obviously, she's been tremendous for the NFL
with appearing at Kansas City games. Do you think this
is the year that Taylor Swift has announced as the
Super Bowl halftime act.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
Boy, there's the follow up right, well, you know, and
then what if he's not in the super Bowl? Exactly
how much would that hurt? One of them's going.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
I think it's a good sign that they were able
to keep this silent. America loves to build the couples
up and listen, man.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
Oh, there's only one thing we love more.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
Is tearing him marrying the I'm just predicting. I'm just
letting you know. Pretty soon there's going to be some
awful tabloid thing about him doing something stupid or her
stepping out, and can't we just get out of the
way now and let him get married and have a
child and be happy.

Well, some of them was saying, has there ever been
a bigger wedding? And I said, Michael Jackson and Lisa
Marie Presley.

Yeah, And that's see, that's how that thing turned out as.
