Speaker 1 (00:00):
Oh oh, this is West Michigan's Morning News. Steve Kelly,
that is Bret Pikita. Adam a road show is looking
at weekend events in for Schmidy. It's Thursday, August seventh,
twenty twenty five, and Adam, a big weekend is ahead.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Yeah, we've been talking about it all week. The downtown
Grandville Summer Street Fair going down tomorrow night from four
to ten. Now, I know Steve and Brett will be
out there, but you can enjoy food, trucks, artists in market,
the Huligan Flight Team flyover for the kids, a foam party,
oh yeah, look out, get a free bath in the summertime,
live music, carnival games, rides, and of course the classic

(00:39):
car show presented by our friends at MKD Funeral Homes.
It's gotta be awesome.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
And Steve, we were blown away. Remember last year how
many cars were there. There was even a thread of
rain a little bit.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
But I'd like to break that record again because it
was so fun looking at all the vintage cars. Oh
so cool. Last week or last year was a blast.
I want to try to get the kids out there
because there's so much. I've got four year olds, they
would have a right out.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Don't let them touch the cars and no, no, no,
oh no, you know the rules.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
Big weekend for the West Michigan white Caps. They kick
off a four game homestand against the Cedar Rapids Kernels tonight,
four games through Sunday. Now there's all kinds of cool stuff.
Tonight is thrifty Thursday, So you got three dollars beers,
three dollar dogs, and Pepsi products. Tomorrow night we welcome
back the Beer City bung Hammers celebrating Grand Rapids. Is

(01:26):
beer City US all the best gear out there, it is.
And the first thousand people in the door get a
Beer City bung Hammer's silicone beer glass, which silicon is safer,
you know, Okay, and then you have fireworks after the game,
and then fireworks after Saturday as well, and then Sunday,
first thousand kids in the door eat free and kids

(01:47):
under twelve run the faces after.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
I think that's better than giving out a bunch of
bung Hammers. I think if you had like a thousand
kids running around yeah with bung Hammers stuff could have.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
It's the coolest merch though. Brett's right on that. Fifth
third Summer Concerts at Meyer Gardens tonight, Mary Chapin Carpenter
and Brandy Clark. Tickets are still available for that show
at Meyergardens dot org and then Monday night, Cheap Trick
takes over. That one sold out in like seconds, So
if you've got a ticket to that, that's gonna be awes.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
I want you to love me. This is not cheap trick.
This is Are you going with Sandy Mary Chapin Carpenter Monday? No? Okay,
just checking. I would love to.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Write Downtown Holland sidewalk sales this weekend, the biggest sales
of the year featured in Downtown Holland Tomorrow night and Saturday.
Sixty restaurants and shopper going to participate for Grand rep
is the inaugural Riverside Motorcycle Rally. This kicks off Tomorrow
at noon at Riverside Park and Grand Rapids, with events
through Sunday at five o'clock. You've got food, live performances

(02:54):
available throughout the day. Saturday features a Cutest Biker Baby competition,
so if you want to dress up your little one
and some biker clothes, then they can win that competition.
A big thing happening in Muskegan this weekend the Unity
Christian Music Festival.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
This is Muskegan's largest annual festival and features dozens of
Christian bands Thursday through Sunday. Listen to some of these
names if you're familiar with Christian music. You've got Matthew
West tonight, Rebecca Saint James and Stephen Curtis Chapman tomorrow,
and then Saturday it closes out with the Sidewalk Profee
and Matt Maher. I mean, these are some of the
biggest names in Christian music. Tickets available Unity Music Festival

(03:35):
dot com.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
Awesome.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
A few more things going on this weekend. Down at
the Gilmour Car Museum. You've got Lincoln Homecoming weekend, the
twelfth annual Lincoln Homecoming, featuring of course Lincoln's but also Etzels, Mercuries, Monarchs,
and thunderbirds. Oh Monarchs on display on Saturday.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
There was a wood radio alum that had a yellow
monarch back in the late eighties.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
I don't know if I could identify him on arch.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
You could by smell with this one fuel leak problem,
oh boy.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
And then downtown. Last couple of things if you're heading
downtown this weekend, the piecing together. The Unity Festival is
on Saturday from one to eight at Rosa Parks Circle
and a Glimpse of Africa Festival at calder Plaza. That's
Saturday and Sunday.
