Speaker 1 (00:00):
As the Senate goped debates changes to President Trump's budget bill,
Elon Musk said, it's just not his cup of tea.
Missus West, Michigan's Morning News Steve Kelly and Reat Pikita.
Of course, I'm being facetious. Ryan Smells with Fox News
Radio in Washington, d C. Good morning, Ryan, thanks for
doing this today.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Good morning, And yeah, not his cup of tea would
probably be the latest way you could put it.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Well, the guy that President Trump tapped head Doze says
it's a disgusting abomination his words. I mean, how much
of that now do they take into consideration and what
sort of things are being talked about.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
There are a number of different ways to look at it.
I mean, certainly there are those who believe this one bolden,
those who are critics of the bill on the Republican side.
I mean, someone has given Democrats something to message on.
But you know, Democrats dislike the build for different reasons.
So there's that, and you know, I think there are
but I think there are also those on the Republican
side who are also critical of the bill, who are saying, well,

(01:01):
you know, you could have done this a couple of
weeks ago. When you know, before it passed the House
and we could have made changes to it. But now
it's like, you know there, I mean, maybe not too
little too late, but it's getting close to being too
little too late, because you know, it's already cleared the House.
There's the sense of urgency if they want to get
this done before that fourth of July deadline. You know,
the dead ceilings up at its limits. So I think

(01:24):
there is this sense from Republicans that, yeah, we would
like to see changes, but we're just so close to
being at the end that we want this thing to
get done.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Yeah, and to that deadline idea, just me speaking here, now,
you've added an extra pressure because if you don't get
it done, then everybody's going to point the finger at
you for not getting it done. So how does the
deadline affect this conversation?

Speaker 2 (01:46):
Well, number one, I mean, look, they've wanted to have
this done for some time. They've kept pushing the deadline back.
You know, now President Trump's been pretty adamant about getting
it done in the fourth of July. You know, there
was a meeting at the White House a couple of
weeks ago where you know, the House was still trying
to pass this. They brought some of the holdouts to
the White House and President Trump was pretty stern that
he wanted it done that week on the House side.

(02:09):
So he wants this done before fourth of July. And
he also keep in mind the debt ceiling plays in
here where we're getting close to that default. De mind,
we've already hit it, and the Treasury is kind of
doing some things to prop it up and avoid us
from defaulting until for a while. But you know, they
can only do that for so much time, and I
think there's a concern it could happen this summer, so

(02:30):
I think they want to get the debt ceiling lifted
so they can avoid that.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
And back to Elon Musk, it's it's really the debt
right that he has the biggest trouble.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
Yes, And what didn't help Republicans yesterday is that the CBO,
the Congressional Budget Office, came out with its estimate and
final estimates from some of the changes Republicans made to
the bill initially, and it believes it estimates that the
deficit will go up by upwards of two point four
trillion dollars over the next ten years, and so Republicans

(03:02):
or at least those like Musk are are kind of
pointing to that and saying that's not a good number.
But at the same time, do you have Republicans who
say that the CBO does not factor in economic growth
and a number of these other factors too, So they
think it's you know, they're kind of war with this
Congressional Budget Office kind of continues and their disagreements with
it continue too.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
You know, Rand Paul, Senator Ran Paul gets a lot
of at tension in the midst of these things. How
much of what he has to say and his criticism
come into play.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
Oh, I mean, like he's been in boldened by Musk,
no doubt about it. He's definitely, you know, utilizing what
Musk is doing to try to rally support against it.
But you know, there are some others who are saying,
like we said before, it's a little too little too
late on the criticism side. Maybe not too late, but
it's close to being too little too late. But yeah,
I mean, the senators who are trying to get some

(03:50):
changes in, they definitely can utilize Musk. It doesn't hurt
their cause whatsoever, that's for sure.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Man is Ryan smells with Box news radio in Washington,
d C.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Thank you, course, thank you
