(00:01):
I'm so glad you're joining us onthis beautiful Sunday afternoon, four six And
Mindy dre Or are you still atthe ball fields or you in the car?
Nope? Can you hear the wind? Can you hear the background of
the ambiance of the home of theWisconsin Badgers? I can you still are?

(00:22):
So bring us up to speed. What's going on in the game up
there in Madison. Well, it'sactually the third game of the series in
Ohio State's winning right now, nineto five. Maybe we are in the
top of the sixth inning, soone more inning to go, the only
place seven in softball. But wereally need this win because I say,
lost on Saturday to the Badgers andlost on Friday, so kind of need

(00:45):
this win. Mickayla, I heardraw was great. Thank you, thank
you, thank you for filling infor Boots and myself. Oh my gosh,
I had just some of the bestconversations. Mindy, thank you for
getting it all set up for me. Joe Schmidt is just so smart,
and I know you know that, but man, we just got in depth,
especially with tax Day right around thecorner, and oh yeah, that's

(01:07):
perfect. And he wrote that book. I hate taxes, and I just
I felt like I learned something thatI need to take to my accountant.
I did an extension this year andI'm like, oh, I need to
take this. And then Jim Eversonwith care Patrol, he just really cares
about helping families. You know. That is such a great service, and

(01:30):
it's a free service for whoever wantsto use care Patrol. They do the
work of lining up your grandparents oryour parents, you know, when it
comes to that elder living situation. And Yeah, when you hear Joe Schmidt,
it's like you want to invest allyour money with him because he's such
a competitor in that financial world andyou know he's going to make your money.
He is so glad that you gotto meet them and talk to them.

(01:51):
Yeah, and then we had areally great Rivia too. We had
Michelle one again, this is likeyou guys, listen to me and Mindy
on a regular phone call right now, tell you like, this is not
Manny and I normally would talk toeach other. Was great, funny.
Rivia was great. Oh my gosh. So I don't know if it'd be
a topic you would typically have, but I felt like it was very thematic.

(02:13):
It was infamous murderers and their trials. What makes you think of that?
That's kind of cool. O.J. Simpson's death earlier this week,
Oh okay, And so you knowwhat, when I saw that Mikayla,
there were so many people commenting soglad that he's no longer alive.

(02:34):
And I looked at my husband Randy, like, does anyone in America think
that man was innocent? Does anybodyreally still think or ever thought that he
was innocent in that whole mess?Well? I think no, there are
very few left to your point, and I don't think you know, I
was. I was a high schoolsenior when that trial was going on,

(02:54):
and I was riveted and couldn't understandwhy he was not found guilty. But
you know, twenty five years later, I was watching some things that Johnny
Cocker knew where the country was interms of race, and when I was
a senior in high school, Idid not know that that really was about
the Rodney King beatings. Oh andall of that laid into Oja being acquitted.

(03:20):
And so now I know that,So looking back, it's very different
for me to view that not guiltyverdict. Yeah, that's true, and
you're ten years younger than me.And I totally got that. I totally
understood. It didn't make it rightat all. But they've interviewed different jurors
that were part of that jury andthey said, yes, that's why we
found him innocent because it was blackversus white and because of their whole Rodney

(03:44):
King beating in all of that death. And and you can never judge one
king because of another. No,you can't. And I know it's not
fair, it's right, and Idon't want to. And we know that
racism exists and existed in this country. But you to your point, you
cannot judge one case by another. You have to take them on individual face

(04:04):
value. Absolutely. Yeah. Sothat was my That was my rivia because
I was I was like, whatam I going to do? Thematically?
What could I do? And thenI got to this place this morning where
I was thinking about it as Iwas finishing up show prep, and I
was like, Okay, this iswhat we're going to do. I learned
a lot myself because we did.Yeah, So it was great. It

(04:24):
was great. Michelle Deere continued,Champion and all is well, well,
So get some Rooster's bucks and whoeverlost to or get some Rooster's bucks as
well. But you know what, you did a great job in raw,
I understand, But we've got apretty darn good show lined up for what
matter for the next two hours too. We do. If you guys are
into we're going to move from likemurder to theater in this conversation. But

(04:46):
that's life. Sometimes it's all inthe state because a lot of theater,
some of the good theater deals withdark Oh that was totally murder mayhem.
Yeah, think about like Phantom ofthe Opera and some of those. Absolutely,
So we're all about theater and artduring this show. There's a lot
going to be devoted to that.So Mindy, you were able to talk
with Jim Fisher over at Kappa, and we're going to do something with him

(05:08):
this afternoon. You know what,I love Broadway Columbus. I love Kappa,
and Columbus area is really thriving inthe arts and Kappa does such a
great job, not just with thetheater productions, but getting kids involved and
having educational programs for adults, twochildren and everything. And so we're going
to hear they've got so much goingon right now and in the Future Mickayla.

(05:31):
I couldn't get over the list thathe sent over Mindy. It'll take
you two hours to read it.I mean it's like two pages, yes,
two pages, two hours, andthere's so much more than just your
standard fair shows. So we'll ro'lldive into that and then a little later.
They have like a different feel.To Mindy's point, there's so much
happening with the arts and theater andColumbus. We'll have the Contemporary Theater of

(05:53):
Ohio and there artistic director is in. There is something that's starting up very
soon, will do a ticket giveawaycalled Ride the Cyclone. It has a
cult following with thousands and thousands ofvideos on TikTok, apparently Ride the Cyclone
does. So we're going to talkwith Leda Hoffman about what's going on with

(06:15):
this specific play and we're going togive away tickets. That's in our five
o'clock hour, and then we havesuch a meaningful interview lined up right at
the top of the five o'clock hourwith a woman who was one of the
most beloved high school softball coaches. Here I am at an Ohio State softball
game against Wisconsin, but this dealswith high school right there in Central Ohio,

(06:36):
legendary loved coach. Her parents diedin a house fire about a year
ago. Both of her parents andthe community came together and made all these
donations in honor of her and herfamily. We're going to find out exactly
what they did with some of thatmoney, because it's all about giving back
to the community even after going througha devastating loss like that. It's a

(06:57):
very humbling, heartwarming story. Notwait for us to talk to her.
I can't wait either. When youshared the story, I was like,
this is a really good one, some really important moments coming out of tragedy
and some really uplifting moments. Soso great. Oh what just happened?
Oh that was loud. Alison Smithjust got to strike out. So we

(07:18):
are in the bottom of the sixth. Score is still nine to five,
but only one out. We gottaget two more outs that had the one
more inning. Can we hold them? That's been our problem all season long.
Ohio State softball can score so manyruns. Yes, we just can't
seem to stop the other team fromscoring. So we gotta hold them.
That's what we're doing during what mattersat least this first part. We're gonna

(07:40):
do Hot Topics next and person madethe catching center field. Okay, good,
we're on the way. Then we'reon the way to that and Hot
topics. If you guys want tocall in about some headlines from this week,
Mandy, I want to ask youabout a tweet from the eclipse,
and then I want to ask youabout how the eclipse went for you because
we haven't talked, so I wantedto talk about that in Hot Topics.

(08:01):
You got it, lady, you'rein charge today. It's a studio all
by yourself. I want to seehow you feel at the end of the
show. Doing four hours of radioevery Sunday, that's what I do.
But it's fun. How you feel? Yeah, Well, check in with
me here in an hour and fortyfive minutes at the very end, and
we'll see how I feel. So, guys, if you want to call
in and talk about the eclipse, was it overhyped, underhyped? What do

(08:24):
you think? Did you see it? And then I want to talk about
Mandy's Twitter poll because I was Ithought it was so interesting. After her
and I had a conversation about itin the studio. Six one, four,
eight two, one, nine, eight eighty six, six one four
