Speaker 1 (00:02):
Put me off through.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
News.

Speaker 3 (00:07):
All right, So moms and dads, grandparents, maybe you can
chime in as well. How many of you are in
this situation? Because my daughter Cammy just graduated from Ohio
State and great little career there, playing softball, becoming an athlete,
becoming a student athlete, and really a lot of success.
But now she wants to save some money even though

(00:30):
she has a job. The Ohistate University Athletic Department hired
her one of eight former athletes who are now going
to work with the department.

Speaker 4 (00:36):
Which we're super proud of her.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
It's a great honor and she could probably live on
her own, but she wants to save money, so she's
moving back home with Randy and me.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
So she's a boomerang kid. And that's what I told Christian.
I said, she did well with nil, but she's saving money.
I said, I think that's the reason she's moving back home,
because she's cheap like her mom's.

Speaker 4 (00:56):
So true.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
And so, yeah, have you had a boomerang experience at
your house? Six one four, eight two one nine eighty six.
We have two family four packs to the Ohio State
Fair on the line for your stories again. Eight two
one at WTVN. So how are you feeling about it, Mandy.

Speaker 4 (01:15):
I'm so excited. We keep calling each other roomy.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Again.

Speaker 4 (01:20):
But I've always been that hovering mom.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Probably too much helicopter, Yes, hovering helicopter mom. And I've
been so involved in all that, both Kyl and the
camera's lives as much as I possibly can. I can't
get enough of my kids. I don't like being an
empty nester. I really don't know you.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
I'm so glad she's coming back.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
It'll be hard when she leaves, because when she leaves
this time, I know it'll probably be forever.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
You moved back after your first what two jobs again?

Speaker 4 (01:48):
To save money? Yeah? Right, because I was gonna.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
So it could be the first or last. I mean
I moved back because I had student loans I couldn't
pay and I was getting paid like nineteen thousand dollars
as a producer in TV. You know, after I traveled
as a leadership consultant for PIFI. So I don't know
if my parents were happy I was back or not.
I feel like they were like, oh, you're back, and
you know I crossed their paths. But I worked a
night side shift so I don't know if they enjoyed

(02:14):
it as much as you're going to enjoy camp.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
Well, and I say that now, but maybe later I'll
be like, oh my gosh, she's driving me crazy.

Speaker 4 (02:21):
Pretty clean, No, okay, Kylon is my clean freak.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
He even when we went on vacation, you know, we
had each had these little rooms. He was so neat
and tidy, everything organized and ready to go.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Cameron.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
Oh, I'm going to show you a picture. She's already
bringing all this stuff, so much stuff from their apartment
back into her own little room.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
She said.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
The other day, She's like, oh, looks like I'm probably
gonna have to use two rooms up here for my
clothes and shoes and everything.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Lisa, you're on the line with us. Do you have
a boomerang story to tell?

Speaker 1 (02:51):
I do well kind of a story. I don't consider
boomerang kids those who go to college, finish and come
home to then start their life. I've always thought of
boomerang kids as the ones who have moved out, gotten
their own apartment, and then said, oh, craft can I

(03:13):
come back home? That was always my idea. And we
had one of those who, after college, you know, got
his own place moved back after realizing you know everything

(03:37):
that is involved. And to me, back to a boomerang kid,
if your child's going to college, they finished college, they've
done great, and now they're going to come home to
now start their life, that to me doesn't say boomerang kid.
You know what I'm saying, boomerang Lisa to come back.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
What's the thing I have a question for her? For you, though,
no matter what you wanted to define boomerang kid, is
what did you learn from that experience, Lisa that you
can share it with Mendy.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
I was actually very happy too you No. My husband
might have tried, but but no, I was happy to
in the idea of you know, especially more so nowadays

(04:32):
it's a matter of no, you can't be seen living
at your parents' home.

Speaker 4 (04:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
And that son actually had a friend who ended up
moving to different apartments. She was constantly begging him to
move in, and we tried to explain to him, he's
begging you to move in because he can't afford it.
He wants you to move in to help him. The
idea that if you can stay home for as long

(04:59):
as you can't out. Don't get me wrong, we charged
them rent. I mean, we still have a responsibility.

Speaker 4 (05:07):
Yeah, I can't. I can't do that yet.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
She's yeah, but Lisa, we want to give you four
tickets to the Ohio State Fair.

Speaker 4 (05:15):
Okay, will you go?

Speaker 3 (05:18):
Absolutely, we want another caller like Lisa.

Speaker 4 (05:20):
We're looking for one more. Lisa. Give your information to
our producer. So glad you called.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
I'm so glad you call. We want you to have
fun at the fair. And yeah, thanks for listening.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
Well, I'm good luck Mandy.

Speaker 4 (05:31):
Thank you. I think I'm gonna need it. A happy hour.
We're gonna have happy hour with my.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Happy hour with your daughter.

Speaker 4 (05:37):
So we did.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
We. I saw that we had another caller, but Ashley,
I don't know if I saw TJ. Somebody was typing
TJ in oh. TJ called back. We have another four
pack to give away.

Speaker 4 (05:49):
We want to give away tickets to the Ohio State Fair.
So just call back.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
Whether you think it's a good idea to have kids
move back home, who's gonna it's gonna be harder on
mom's dads or the kid.

Speaker 4 (05:58):
There are a couple.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
Because I hosted this on my Facebook pace, it exploded.
I mean there were so many people commenting. Deb said
my daughter graduated college, moved back home temporarily to save money.

Speaker 4 (06:09):
It worked out.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
Four years later, she got married and moved out about
two miles from home. It took a bit of compromise
on all parties, but as parents, it was nice having
our daughter home a little while. Karen put, I don't
see why this is such a flashpoint today. When I
graduated back in nineteen seventy one, I can't think of
anyone who went directly to their apartment or house unless

(06:29):
they got a really good job right away.

Speaker 4 (06:32):
In another area.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
And then there was another comment from Amy who said,
my daughter graduated last year, moved home for two months,
got a job, moved into an apartment with her friend
and middle school person, and they will start She will
start middle school medical school next month.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
Well, I think those are that Facebook post did explode.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
People relate to that because it's happening right now in
so many of our lives. You think they're gone, but baby,
they're back, and I'm glad. I cannot wait to have
Caami back home. I say that now, check in with
me in.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
A couple of months. Boomerang, All right, coming up next,
we're going to talk about, oh, do.

Speaker 4 (07:13):
We have can we take come on please?

Speaker 2 (07:15):
Okay, okay, Teresa, what's your boomerang story? Real quick? We
have about a minute.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
Hey, my daughter moved out and then she had a baby,
so she moved back home, and now she's moved out again,
and I'm so sad.

Speaker 4 (07:30):
Oh see, we want our kids to stay home forever.
Well maybe not forever.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
Yes, yeah, but.

Speaker 4 (07:39):
Your son of you a different story. Is that what
you just said?

Speaker 2 (07:45):
Well, Teresa, stay on the line, get those tickets, take
that daughter and that grand baby to the State Fair
if you can make a part of.

Speaker 4 (07:51):
Your fore pack.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (07:53):
Thank you.
