Speaker 1 (00:00):
You know what matters the United States of America and Barbados, Barbados.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
You gotta get away. You gotta get away a few times.
Speaker 3 (00:09):
So one of our favorites has gotten away, as he
should because he's always in a busy season.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
So you got to take breaks.
Speaker 4 (00:17):
Doctor B. How is it right there? What time is it?
Speaker 5 (00:21):
Claire? Yes, listeners and listener land, I am in Barbados,
but I am not on vacation. What tosi your costs?
I works with the US Embassy in Barbados to take
our great science, technology, indiny and math programming to the
Barbados community. And it is funded by the US government,
specifically the US State Department and the US Embassy. So
(00:43):
I'm throw up to be here. So you have in Barbados,
but I'm working.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
You're working. It's not vacation.
Speaker 4 (00:49):
Do you ever take a vacation, doctor B.
Speaker 5 (00:50):
Honestly, okay, Jess, sir Worth Claire, I was on the
beach half hour going. I was like, oh my god,
I gotta get back to the hotel. Get night many
MICHAELA five minutes. So that did happen. But yes, I
work really hard, like the rest of your listeners.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
We would take you at the beach too, doctor B.
We take phone calls from the beach. We enjoy that
as well.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
But we we're glad you're with us period. Thank you.
And so what are you doing down there right now?
Like you you've had a.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
Partnership, I remember this, but specifically what are you down
there for currently?
Speaker 5 (01:24):
Yeah, So what's really cool is obviously we're in central Ohio,
so we impact Central Ohio and the eighty seven other
counties in Ohio. But we're also in about thirty eight
different states. But the other interesting thing is the US government,
in particular the state departments. I've decided that what Kosai
offers from an educational outreach around science technology internet masks
(01:46):
for kiddos from like kindergarten to like grade twelve, the
US State Department likes that, and they fund us to
take our programmers around the world, and that includes you know, Italy, England,
do buy you name it, India. We are all over
the place, and we're in the Caribbean. And so I
(02:07):
drew the short straw to make the Caribbean program work.
Speaker 4 (02:12):
Hey, doctor B.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
When all of these different countries and people meet you
and they learn about Kosai, are.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
They blown away?
Speaker 5 (02:20):
Well, listen, I really appreciate them in the So the
real deal is and I actually said this to Mayor
and Againster the other day and to the Governor. I
had the pleasure of being at the home open of
the Browns versus the Bengals. The Governor is a huge
Bengals fan. I was sporting the Browns. We're in Brown's
Nation lost. But when I was there with him, we
(02:40):
talked about this and I said, listen, I slash coasts.
I We carry the Columbus the Ohio brand everywhere we go.
So every time Indy we do this program, it really
expands the world's apotra to see that, oh, this is
this place, not just us, which is phenomenal. Everybody knows that.
But then in Columbus Will High they're doing some really
(03:01):
cool things. So I carry a brand everywhere I go, and.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
You carry it well.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
And we're so happy that you're our ambassador from this
great state of Ohio and teaching kids all this great stuff.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
We have a ton of stuff happening here too.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
Obviously.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
I'm looking at this list that you all sent over,
and my goodness, there's a lot of things happening.
Speaker 5 (03:19):
Your listeners are not Randy mc are not ready, MICHAELA.
They're not ready. They're not ready. You let me know
what you want to talk about, because this unbelievable. We
have happening at Kosi Deaths in a few weeks.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
Okay, So let's talk about a couple of exhibits. You've
got Wildcrafts and the Science behind Pixar.
Speaker 5 (03:40):
Okay, So Wildcats, which began September twenty fifth, it's just opened,
goes to January fifth. That's Wildcats. If you got kiddos,
you'll know what wildcatt is. That's part of your admission.
But the most exciting thing is October eleven, we are
opening up the science behind PickStar. So if you know
anything about Toast, you know anything about Monsters, inc. If
(04:02):
you know anything about any kind of Pixar animated experience
you had, this is one of the coolest exhibits we
have ever had. A COSI Wow.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
So what about this art contest? You know a lot
of our listeners have kids that really delve into art
in any form. What is this art contest? Is it
just for kids or is it people are all together?
Speaker 5 (04:26):
Yeah? Mindy, Sorry, thanks so much for asking about that.
So the art contest is interesting every time, so please
listeners becau. Every time we have a signature exhibit, which
is twice a year, we trigger an art contest where
if you're an elementary school you participate, if you're in
high school you participate, and then if you're an adult
(04:47):
you practiceate there. So we have three categories elementary, high school,
and adult and you submit your art based on the exhibit.
But here's the cool thing, mindy, that art if you win,
and we have first place, second place, third place honorable
for all the different categories. So we have about twelveson winners,
and then we bring a few other winners. That art
gets exhibited in the number one science museum in the
(05:09):
nation for the entire run of the exhibition. So I
know some people have art at Starbucks, and I think
that's cool in art in different places, but that's up
for like a weekend or maybe two weeks. You get
to have your art be exhibited in the number one
science team in the country for free, where seven hundred
and fifty thousand people see your work. So this competition
(05:32):
is really amazing. It's about telling the story of Kosai,
not civil Frederick Berkeley's lens as the CEO or our
board or our team, but telling the story of Kosai
through the lens of the community as they submit their
art inspired by arguments.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
Gosh.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
So people have until October twenty seventh to submit, and
I take it. Coside dot org is where you go
to submit.
Speaker 5 (05:53):
That's right, coside dot org. And by the way, Cosai
is not the tourists we have like people from the
art museum, people from Columbus State, people from whatever art
kind of space. We bring them in a judges and
they decide who wins, and it's really cool thing. Then
we do a beautiful ceremony for the kids, the adults
and the families to come in and showcase their art.
Speaker 4 (06:15):
That is awesome.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
I love that it's the art of storytelling too, because
you can tell a story in so many different ways,
not just with words, but with pictures or drawings. There's
so many different types of storytelling, Obstacles out there or
objects or opportunities, all the things.
Speaker 5 (06:31):
We It's so funny you say that because we're a
science museum, but you know, to your appointment, they like
people communicate and connects two different ways. Obviously, I love
science as a scientists, but art is powerful storytelling is powerful,
writing is powerful, and we make sure Cosai has some
of that for everyone.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
Let's go ahead and give away the four pack of
VIP tickets that includes the science behind Pixar and Mindy.
Do you want people to tell us favorite Pixar movie
and why that's what you want to do? Favorite Pixar
movie and why.
Speaker 4 (07:02):
My favorite thing about COSA either one.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
We'll pick. We'll pick a winner.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
Four pack VIP tickets with Pixar six one four eight
two one nine eighty eight six six one four eight
two one w TV and Doctor B. While we're waiting
for folks to call in, tee it up a little more.
You said it's going to be amazing, So tell us
a little bit about the exhibit.
Speaker 5 (07:20):
Okay. In short, everybody knows about Pixar around the world.
This exhibit makes it come alive in a really excited way.
You will not be disappointed. It is literally the coolest
thing that I've seen in a very very long time.
If you like King Tut, if you like Tooton Common,
if you like Marvel, package all those and come to Pixar.
(07:41):
It's really unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
I love both of those.
Speaker 3 (07:44):
When they were here, they were both really incredible for
the family, like multi generation too, right, Like we were
talking all Jen Alpha through boomers.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
Love those two in my house.
Speaker 4 (07:53):
So doctor B, go ahead.
Speaker 5 (07:55):
I mean, that's a cool thing about Pixar. I mean,
you know it started in nineteen eighty six, so I
how much to be listenership is born before eighty six,
probably you know, a decent amount. But it started in
nineteen eighty six. So this is not something that, oh,
Pixar started five years ago. We have a good forty
years amazing content from Pixtars, so come check it out.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
Wasn't Toy Story the very first Pixar movie? Yep, we
talked about that, I think last time.
Speaker 4 (08:20):
Yeah, last month we talked about that. So let me
ask you something, doctor B.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
You've had so many exhibits a Kosai and from one
end of the spectrum to another. If you could have
anything come to Kosai, if you could create your own exhibit,
what would you make?
Speaker 4 (08:35):
What would you want people to see? It?
Speaker 5 (08:38):
Be a Mendy and McKay.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
He knows how to flatter girls. He knows how to
flatter the girls.
Speaker 4 (08:45):
Yeah, he does.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
Well, there's a lot we can bring.
Speaker 5 (08:48):
To that if we can have it if we can
have an exhibit about YouTube, about how you communicate really powerful,
important messages for the world. I'd be the first to
side out.
Speaker 3 (08:57):
I'm going to make a guess, since you're gonna be
because this is probably your hard choice for you, doctor
b what your favorite would be given what you do
in your role.
Speaker 4 (09:04):
And because science is everywhere and in everything, so.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
You guessed too, Mindy. I'm gonna put in my guests though. First.
Speaker 3 (09:10):
I think he would love to do a hockey exhibit
of some sort of science of hockey.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
I was going to say something with sports, either basketball
or hockey or something.
Speaker 5 (09:18):
Well you know what, you too know me so well.
So what I would do all jo aside after the
Mindy Mickaylae exhibit, I would do the science of sports.
And we know why I say sports is this can
be softball, as I know you love, Mindy, hockey, football, basketball, baseball.
Sports is something that connects with literally everybody, and it's
important because you might be an acthy yourself, but guess what.
(09:42):
You might not be an Athley, but you might be
someone at home that loves watching baby right well, or
basketball or softball and you never really played, but you
appreciate the sport. It's one of the few things that
connects with everybody. So you guys are spot on. It
would be the science of sports.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
Yeah, and then you have the data guy right like
I have one of my kids. He doesn't love sports,
but he loves like the data behind it. Okay, Bob
is on the line with us. Bob, tell us what
your favorite Pixar movie is and why?
Speaker 6 (10:14):
Definitely Toy Story. It took a four years old and
just recently it was shown in the theater, so I
got to take my daughter and my three year old
grandchild to see Toy Story and both of them loved
it just as much as it did the first time
we saw my daughter. My grandson loved it as well.
(10:35):
So it was just a just a beautiful memory. And
it's so hard to believe that many years has past
been seeing it.
Speaker 3 (10:41):
But yeah, doctor b how's that for a four pack
winner to see?
Speaker 5 (10:46):
COSI Bob, Bob, I absolutely love that you could take
your daughter, your grandchild and whoever else and have a
great time. You are not going to be disappointed, but
thank you for.
Speaker 4 (10:56):
Sharing that awesome bless you know what. We love that
you called in. We love that you won. We do
this every time Doctor B is on with us.
Speaker 1 (11:05):
Yeah, Doctor B, have fun in Barbados. When are you
coming home?
Speaker 5 (11:11):
Thursday? Flyback, kicking and screaming.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
Well, it's eighty degrees here today, so it's gonna feel
just as warm.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
We just don't have the beach.
Speaker 5 (11:22):
Listen, there's something called white sand and blue water. Now
again for your listeners. I'm working really hard for Kosai,
taking signs from Columbus, Ohio to around the world. But
that blue.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
Oh absolutely, we're water girls. So we send us some pictures,
Doctor be So we will see you hopefully next time
next month and with more giveaways.
Speaker 4 (11:46):
And we're going to give away your.
Speaker 3 (11:49):
