Speaker 1 (00:03):
Okay, ready to have another conversation, kind of serious conversation
and then a different conversation.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Oh yeah, I have something I want to ask Melenda about.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
I forgot yes, but right now, Melinda Peters Elliott, you
can't see.

Speaker 3 (00:15):
I guess we can see a little bit, Melinda if
you want to.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
That's okay. Your son, who you were just in studio
with talking about find his own interiors. Your son plays
football for London, and your team's kind of been going
through a prayer circle of really trying to rally around
one of your players.

Speaker 4 (00:32):
Yeah, this is Carson Lewis and he is Gavin's best friend.
They've been best friend since second grade. So Carson plays,
He plays offense and defense. He's a he's a receiver,
little guy quick, you know, really smart, excellent football player.
So he was tackling a kid at Indian Lake High

(00:56):
School about three weeks ago and hit.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
Hit real hard on his neck.

Speaker 4 (01:02):
Now nobody really knew he was hurt, and he kind
of like he limped right.

Speaker 5 (01:07):
Off the field.

Speaker 4 (01:08):
Yeah, so one of the kids picked him up, saw
him he had gone down, say picked him up, and
the kind of drugged him across the field and then
he kind of limped off and he kind of like
collapsed on the sidelines. Well, we've had some injuries like
this lately, where concussions or whatever things are things are happening,
and I was kind of like, oh, what's going on. Well,

(01:29):
they worked on him, they start cutting off everything and
putting him on a stretch with.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
His parents at the game because to sit in the stands,
and this is my point, I would I want to
get to when you're a parent and you know that
injuries are part of any sport that you play, Yeah,
but to see it unfold right before your eyes, it's
really scary.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
Yeah, it was scary.

Speaker 4 (01:47):
Well, you know, if you trying to be a cool parent,
you're like sitting there like what happened?

Speaker 3 (01:52):
What happened? Is he hurt? Is he hurt?

Speaker 4 (01:54):
And you don't want to like run down there because
you don't want to look like too like anxious, you know,
kind of staying there and waited out, waited out. Well,
we saw someone start running towards the ambulance from the
side from where Carson was, and his mom went up,
his dad got up, and they went down there, and
you know, about that time, I'm.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
Going, what is going on?

Speaker 4 (02:15):
This child has gone on vacation with us, so I
was like, oh my gosh, he's like one of my Yeah.
So anyway, he gets carted off ambulance. Next thing we know,
there's a helicopter coming and they have to care flighting
the children's well.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
He's in our hearts and prayers. Is he getting better? Yeah,
he is.

Speaker 4 (02:34):
He has a concussion, he has a next sprain with
torn ligaments. He's a spinal cord injury and that is
causing tingling in his like hands and feet.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
It's so scary.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
And he is a fracture on his neck bone. So
he could use as many prayers as everybody could. We
want him to get a full recovery, obviously, and we
know he is.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
He is going to be one hundred percent better. Her
just takes time.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
And you're a hockey mom. Yeah, and that's a dangerous sports.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Yan, Yeah, I see. I mean, Logan is real fast
and he tends to where's the wood to knock on
get himself out of situations. But it can happen to anyone, right,
it could happen to him. I've seen some nasty stuff.
I've seen a lot of stuff up against the boards, concussions.
Logan did have a concussion at one point. You you

(03:26):
say a prayer before the game. Yes, you hope for
the best, you hope for smart plays, but you can't
help sometimes what other kids do. And sometimes other kids
aren't intentional about it, like an ego's somewhere and your
head's going a different direction, like.

Speaker 4 (03:38):
With this kid, And yeah, that's what I think. But
he did anything intentional? Is just the way that the
injury just happened.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
No, it's part of the game. Injuries are part of sports.
There's no but got hurt. You know, she broke her
nose just talking about it. Yeah, she hit her own
self in the notes. So they're just part of it.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
We just wanted to let you tell the story to Yeah,
you know, our thoughts for everybody at London. Yes, it's
tough when you see you know, someone you know so closely.
And we've been following your social media pictures as well.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
Yeah, so you wanted something else.

Speaker 6 (04:10):
To talk about.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
Yeah, you know, Mindy has this new leg house that
she's been decorating and she's done a lovely job with it,
you know, because you're it's your second space, right and
so you've done a great job.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
Goodwill, all the all the things.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
But you know, and I have two grandmas coming to
stay with the two boys while Marcus and I go
to Italy for two weeks next Sunday, and so I
really want to make the guest bedrooms special, like I
want to do a little something extra.

Speaker 5 (04:35):
So I was.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
Curious, what advice do you give for making a guest
bedroom a little extra special, whether you're coming up to
a lake house or you have family coming in to
watch kids. What are some things that can be done
on your mind that might be able to work, Because
I'm ready to do it. I'm in the middle of
that part of this whole journey right now.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
Well, to me, it's all about the bedding, and like
making the bed just an amazing experience, you know. So
you know a lot of fullness, a lot of fluffy
pillows and clean sheets and turned down and you know,
you I think always putting guest bedrooms need to be

(05:14):
real cozy and homye, So putting window treatments in there
to add a little bit of you know, character and
flavor and kind of dead in the sound is really good.
And then if you don't have time to do that,
I would definitely say to add like a basket of
snacks and a basket of bathroom body types of things.

Speaker 3 (05:37):
Like in the bathroom. I was a great idea and
someone says.

Speaker 4 (05:40):
You know, here's a basket of you know options, and
you know who doesn't have a bunch of you know
things that you've been given over the years, and you know,
just keep them a few little things there for them so.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
To make it a little more call me comforting, and
that you just want them to feel valued, because we're
really grateful that we're going to be able to go
take this adventure. And the two moms are coming in,
so I'm like, what can I put in their room
that will make it special.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
That the body's good?

Speaker 5 (06:07):
Yeah, or you just hire like a massousekis. I might
know one and let them do the massage on your
mom's That would be a good IDEA lake house, we have,
you know, all the hotels that we've been at through
the sporting years, and I always collect all the.

Speaker 3 (06:23):
Shampoos and lotions.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
So I have like a bucket or a basket of them,
so anyone who comes, that's it.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
I have a massive bathroom downstairs next to one of
the guest bedrooms.

Speaker 6 (06:35):
You have a massive downstairs, and I got to figure
out what to put in that bathroom too, because if
I were the moms, I would like share.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
That space instead of going into the boys bathroom that
is upstairs by the other.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
I got it.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
I got exactly what they should have, big old bottle
of wine in there.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
Yes, they're going to need it. Put it out and
I will bring you back a big old bottle of wine.

Speaker 4 (07:04):
That's right, Like a loofa, Like fluffy towels, like brand
new fluffy towels.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
There's nothing like a brand new fluffy towel. I mean, okay,
you're so I've got the things. I'm so excited your
trip to Italy.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
We are about to give away tickets to the Italian Festival,
and we have the best people to get all the
dirt on this year's Italian Festival in Studie.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
Cheese, all the cheese whiz that's coming up next.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
