Speaker 1 (00:04):
All right.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
We are back on a Sunday, the Sunday before Independence Day,
and it's kind of patriotic, so much on my end
because I just came in after a five and a
half hour car drive from Nashville. But you look at
you when you got your red, white and blue American
flag on your test.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
I do.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
And we have the National Veterans Memorial Museum. Stephen White
was just in talking about what they're up to. Earl
Burke is going to be in to talk about the
always amazing Red White and Boo.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
Which we just found out that there's something new this
year that you will see in the skies.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
So we can't wait to talk about that.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
It is a you know, it was funny you were
saying something to Joe earlier about you were just saying
something about like living life and doing what you know,
not taking anything too seriously.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
That's what we were said.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
Earlier because of our caller Katy, her caller Kayden.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
And it has kind of been as so I will
say it's been a celebration summer and a celebration spring.
If I don't four you, it's rubbed off, I think
on everybody, and it's just kind of good to celebrate
the big things in life.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
And you did take this trip.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
This was Cammy's graduation trip, right Dan, This is where
she wanted to go.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
She wanted to go to Nashville.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
That's what she wanted to do. Didn't have a party.
And I'm really more of a believer of having your
high school graduation parties. I don't know if you have
that full out graduation party for college. I don't know why.
It just seems to me that it's a bigger deal
for high school to have those parties and collect envelopes
and money. But college, I think you just celebrate with
your family or close friends. That's just how I've always
(01:32):
grown up.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
This trip thing.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
I've seen a lot of college seniors do this with
their parents this year.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
And it worked out great. Cameron along with two of
her friends and softball players. One was Ohio State teammate
of hers. The other was a Bobcat from ou who
came he played travel ball with. So those three have
stayed friends, good friends, if not best friends, and they
wanted us to include us to families. This is what
she wanted to do. We're like, okay, we're in Randy
(01:58):
had never been to Nashville.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
I can't believe never been as I've only.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
Been there one other time and that was well, Ohio
State was playing Belmont in Nashville, Okay, in softball, but
it is an experience. It is really so different than
any other city. You could wear cowboy boots with a bikini.
I mean, it doesn't make fine. You could wear cowboy
boots any time of the day in the rain, sun, snow, sleet,
(02:23):
it doesn't matter. You're just it's such that cowboy feeling.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
It really is this pontoon situation that it looks amazing.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
Next time I go to Nashville, this is happening.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Well, it was only fifty dollars a person and it's
a two hour ride. No, because everything's so expensive there
and the alcohol, like it was like six dollars of
beer while you're on the pontoon saloon, which they're almost
fifteen dollars for any drink in Nashville.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
Well, I think the you guys celebrated and that's what
you should do. And I think again you've rubbed off
on people. Hey we've had a good time. Our twentieth
anniversary is in three days.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
Now, can you believe it? I mean, honestly, because that's
a big deal. Really, when you look back, do you
see that it has been twenty years that you guys
exchanged vowels?
Speaker 3 (03:07):
It goes by in a blink, doesn't it.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
Oh yeah, if it's a good marriage, and.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
So it is. I mean it's not to say that
there haven't been tough times, and.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
You know that marriage is tough.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
But like when you have.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
A good partner, just a really solid partner, and you
have one you know, like I do, like that supports
you and cares about you and lifts you up and
wants to see you succeed, it's it's it's just wonderful.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
So it's a blink.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
Well, marriage is a roller coaster. There's so many ups,
there's so many downs. There's so many exciting, thrilling moments
as well. But as long as you ride that ride together,
that's what really matters. Because there's going to be ups
and downs in any situation. But do you separate or
do you stay together and say, man, we are in
this to win this or in the battle through the
(03:51):
good through the bad because we love each other. And
I think so many people have to think back to
and I've heard this advice from different different people and
agencies and professionals. You always think back to what made you, guys,
first fall in love? What was it about Marcus that
made you really fall in love at the very beginning?
And those people who get tired of their nine to
(04:13):
five job or whatever they do, or they get tired
of the sport they play, think back to why you
started doing it in the first place. So if you
go back to the beginning of anything in life, either
it's what you do or your job or who you love,
go back to the very beginning, and sometimes it all
makes sense.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
It does. He's my best friend. I couldn't do it
lot of them, you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
It's how I look at what Randy.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
You do, and he was he was the funniest.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
I knew why he made me laugh my entire life
and not take myself too seriously.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
I knew that about Marcus.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
Because sometimes you do take Gette seriously. Yes, you're the organizer,
you're that we're having a conversation with people who has
her notebook out taking notes, MICHAELA who's just winging it
with not even a pencil in sight.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
Andy, what I love it?
Speaker 2 (04:58):
But see, so you need that ying to the yang
you do. And if Marcus can keep the humor and
make you.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
I knew it would be a really good dad. Those
were the two wells.
Speaker 2 (05:06):
That's huge too, really. I mean it's one thing to
be a good husband, more importantly to be a good
father or to be a good mother, because when you
see your husband being a great parent, it makes you
love them even more. And when we're watching for this weekend,
for example, when we're watching Kylin and Cameron simply play
darts or dance or something together, and I'm watching Randy
(05:30):
watch them, and then he'll say, I just love seeing
those two together. I love that. And that means everything,
it really does.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
We're doing some small things this week because you know,
we have this big trip that we're trying to plan
for early October to go to Italy. And we got
together and we made our plans while the kids were
at camp this week. And it's a pretty you know.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
Me, it's a pretty good document.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
But I don't know anything about traveling internationally. I really don't,
and so I want to hand it off to a
travel agent.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
Do you think that's a good idea?
Speaker 2 (06:00):
Yeah, I'm sure you could ask around. I don't know
if travel agents are used quite as much as they
were before, because you can research so much on your
own online. But I don't know why you wouldn't ask.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
Do they cost an additional Like I again, I don't
know much, and I don't know if you know much.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
I don't think so, because I think that these vacation
spots or destinations pay different travel agencies to promote them.
I don't think it costs you the consumer. Now I
could be wrong, and if I'm wrong, call us up
and let us know, because I would like to know
the truth of the matter. But that's how I have
been told, is that it doesn't cost you to use
(06:38):
a travel agent or agency. They're getting paid elsewhere.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
So kind of like I want to say, like the
interior designer mentality, that it's going to cost you the
same to do it yourself as it would be to have.
You know, we've heard that about interior design before, because they're.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
Getting paid somewhere. Yeah, they're coming from somewhere. So maybe
maybe down the line we are footing the bill one
way or another, right, but not like out of the pocket,
here's my fee.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
Well, it can't do me any harm because I don't
know what places are dangerous or not, you know, and
I don't know the best things to do. I know
what I would like to do, but there's no way.
I mean, as organized as I am, I still don't
think I could plan at all.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
So October you're going to be in Italy.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
Yeah, thank god I'm not there right now. It is
blazing hot over in Europe right now. I have a
cousin who's over there. He and I think in like
the triples, like they ran a car and I would
not want to be there. And we had a friend
who went, well, we had a former coworker and his
wife who went I think last summer, and she's always
like this is the best and she was like, uh,
(07:37):
I would rethink coming at this time of year.
Speaker 3 (07:39):
So I'm glad I'm waiting until October.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
Yeah, you know, there's still a chance that Cammie Joe
will play professionals softball over in Italy. She should know
sometime in August if that's going to be a realistic
option for her.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
Well, she haf to travel over to check anything out
or like, you know, so I.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
Don't know anything about it. You know, i'd go over
there with her, you would. I would at least for
some of the time. She would not want me there
all the time.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
But you should definitely. Oh, I can't wait because then
it'll be so fun to you to go in October.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
Yeah, Medica talks out about it. You can prepare us
for what it said. That's the one thing. Since my
mom was full blooded, one hundred percent Italian Carmela and
Nancy Benedetto, she did get to go over to Italy.
She did get to know that. And my grandma Josephine
never made it over and she was always kind of
jealous that Mom got to go to Italy and she
didn't wait.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
So she came up. Was she over on the boat
and then never went back? Was that the situation or no?
Speaker 2 (08:30):
No, my grandma was born he my grandma and grandpa
were born here, but their parents did come over. They
were the boat.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
Oka.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
Yeah, but Mom just went on a vacation to Italy,
but my grandma Josephine never did. But you know, those
ages and stages of life, people just didn't travel like
they do these days.
Speaker 3 (08:45):
Yeah, they didn't.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
We talked about a little bit of everything in this segment,
but we were catching up because I didn't see you
last weekend.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
I know, yeah, because you were out taking the kids
to camp. I was our next guest. Looks like he's
been at camp like for a month, because he's as
tan as tan can be.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
Bronze got over here, he says, he's trying.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
Earl Burke with the Red Wine Boom is going to
give you all the details about what's going on downtown,
and like we said earlier, something new that was really
exciting to hear about.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
That comes up next here on What Matters
