Speaker 1 (00:01):
It's been a heavy, heavy day really, first on Raw
then here on What Matters.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
We talked it out.

Speaker 1 (00:06):
We did talk it out, and that's what's so important,
and that's what Charlie Kirk did. He talked it out
and he heard from the opposition. We're switching up gears
because we want to end on a positive note for
all of our listeners. And there comes a time in
your life where you have to unwind, sometimes unplug and
get healthy again.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
Yeah, and we literally came on here and I was like, Oh,
you guys are gonna be perfect for the menopausal and
perimenopausal women into life because at the core of what
they do is the word core. I'll let you introduce that.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Katie and Carolyn I found this little place that they
have called Encore. What's the other part of it?

Speaker 4 (00:42):
Levery a grief witness studio, all.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Agree, what's out? I don't even know what that was.

Speaker 4 (00:45):
Agreed to find out.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
We're gonna find out what that means. I would just
see this big Encore and I'm like, well, what is this?
What does this mean? So we reached out because Mikayla
and I love to promote small businesses. We like to
help them grow. What is encore? Katie will start with you.
Oh you want me to start with you, Carolyn.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
Said, ok, I can start. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:05):
So Lagree is a high intensity, low impact workout.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
It's all done on a mega reformer.

Speaker 5 (01:10):
So when you think about a typical pilates reformer, there's
usually one part that stays still, one part that moves.
On this, there's two parts that stays still and one
part that moves in the middle. Lagree as a whole
is all built on bodybuilding, So the whole foundational workout
is supposed to be very strength building, great for your
muscular endurance, while also lengthening and toning your muscles, which is.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
Very popular amongst females. So that's kind of the gist
of it.

Speaker 5 (01:36):
It's really great for your core hence the name as well,
but really high intensity, low impact that's what you could expect.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
And Katie, there's there's not a lot of places in
Columbus like this, and especially not out where you guys
established this is that how you found the opening to
do this in terms of like, Okay, this is a
place we need to be.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
Yeah, we we like the area, we know the area.
We worked at a prior gym, together, you know, in
kind of that same area, and it's a great community
up there, and there wasn't any Lagree studios up there,
and we're like, we kind of wanted to capitalize on
that and introduce it to the Polaris area.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
What do you think is the biggest difference, because a
lot of people sign up for gyms, especially at the
very beginning of the year, and then those memberships die off,
and honestly, we need a break right now mentally, and
a lot of times being physically active can help our
mental well being as well.

Speaker 4 (02:27):
Absolutely. Yeah, it's fifty minutes to just focus on you,
to close everything out. We don't want your cell phones
in there, we don't want anything in there. We want
you to leave everything in our locker room, come in
and just focus on yourself, on your mental health, on
your well being, and leave just a stronger person, both
mentally and physically.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
Carolyn, tell me a little bit about the difference between
regular pilates and Lagree, Like what are the different benefits.
And I'm sure there's some similarities too, but people I
feel like no pilates, it might not no Lagree as well.

Speaker 5 (02:55):
That's a great point and it definitely gets confused often
between pilates and lagree. So pilates would be a really
restorative workout, not necessarily where you'd be looking to build
a lot of strength. Yes, you definitely will get some
strength benefits from plates, but lagree itself is a functional workout.
And think about lunges, think about bicep curls, moves that
you would actually see in a gym in a bodybuilding

(03:16):
area as well.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
And that's what the big difference is.

Speaker 5 (03:20):
You can go into a lot of detail on what
like the technical differences are, but we really focus on
form and range of motion and lagree that's probably the
two biggest things, and that's not always the case in
a typical PLATES class.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
So you guys like personal trainers for people when they
come in, do you walk them through, do you help them?
And also people want to be in shape yesterday, so
how soon will you start noticing results if you stick
with it?

Speaker 2 (03:42):
Yeah, that's a great question as well.

Speaker 5 (03:43):
So when you come to your first class at Encore,
we know these machines are going to look.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
A little bit scary.

Speaker 5 (03:48):
They're really big machines, so we take the time to
get you a tour of the studio. You can walk around,
make sure you're comfortable, put your stuff away, and then
our instructors will go over the entire machine with you
one on one and if you're the only first timer,
or as a group if there's quite a few first
timers in there, just to make sure you feel comfortable
and know how to change the springs and know what's
happening in your first class.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
I would say Lagree is a method, so.

Speaker 5 (04:10):
You have to give yourself a little bit of time
to get used to some of the moves and the
naming conventions, but you definitely do get into it very quickly.
From a results standpoint, I would always say, like give
yourself about six to eight classes. You'll start to feel
stronger first, and then others will start to see it
in you, and then you really start to see it
in yourself as well. But we've had people achieve really
great results very quickly, like within a month.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
Wow, yes, yeah, within a month.

Speaker 5 (04:34):
Yeah, they can start to see your arms getting toned.
You see it in your core really quick. Yeah, it's
very effective.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
Let's go to your core really quick, because I do
think for perimenopausa menopausal woman, core is such an issue.
I can't believe the changes I've seen in my body
in the last two years.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
So I get into kind of that period.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
Of life and sometimes it's really defeating. You know, you're
eating all the protein, you're drinking water, you're walking and
doing what you've done before, and it's not making any
dents in the situation. If anything, it gets worse. So
what is so important about this core workout that can
can speak to the men a belly that everybody talks.

Speaker 4 (05:11):
About, right, And that's exactly where I am as well.
And I've done the same thing that you were mentioning.
I eat the right things, I do the everything I'm
supposed to do. But like you have that, you know,
the stubborn areas that won't go away as you get older.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
You can't defy age.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
You can't.

Speaker 4 (05:23):
You can't. But again, encore again, emphasizing the core. Your
core is engaged for the entire class, no matter what
you're doing, if you're doing a leg section, if you're
doing your arm section, no matter what section, your core
has to be engaged. So that's going to make you
stronger all the way around, even if you're perimenopausal before
or menopausal, it's gonna make your back stronger. It's going
to make everything just better and stronger because you are

(05:46):
engaging that core for the whole fifty minutes. Like it
doesn't get a break, it's it's just it's engaged.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
Is it expensive? Because there's a lot of different fitness
options out there that people just can't afford to do.
Obviously a lot of people want to I'll pay whatever
takes to look as good as I possibly can. What
are the prices? And do you have to sign up
for a year? Do you come as you do you
pay as you go? How does encore work?

Speaker 4 (06:11):
Okay, So there are many different ways you can go
about this. We have retailor our packages according to where
you are in your fitness journey and what you want
to do. So if you're supplementing your current workout, if
you're at a big box gym and you want to
use us as a supplement, we've got packages for you.
We've got like five classes per month or ten classes
per month. If you want this to be your sole workout,
we've got unlimited, so we have several different price points.

(06:33):
We also have introductory class as well, so if you
want to come try us out before you you know
are locked in and we don't lock anybody into a
long term contract either. We just didn't feel that was
beneficial for people. So you come and our memberships are
usually a three month minimum, and after that, if you
don't want to be a member with us, you don't

(06:53):
have to be, because you know, we don't want to
thera if you.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
Don't want if you don't think a lot of gyms
and a lot of specialty workout places have learned the
hard way. If you let people in for a year
and then they give up in that time, then no
one's happy. So if we give you three months to
do the work and if it works for us, we're.

Speaker 4 (07:11):
Gonna know, right Yeah, that's exactly where the three months
of minimal comes in, because we want you to stick
to it and stick with it so you can see
the results for yourself. Because a lot of people do
give up on different workouts, especially if it's new, they'll
give up on it quickly. So we want you to
be there and try us out for at least you know,
three months, try it out, get strong, and see the
results for yourself.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
Three months is reasonable and I think you would know
after three months if this is something you want to continue.
And obviously if you can start seeing the results after
one month, you might just fall in love with it.
So we need to go to break But I just
want each of you, Carolyn and Katie, just to give
your pitch. Why should people come out to Encore.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
Oh I like this question personally.

Speaker 5 (07:49):
I would say, if you want a sense of community
while also getting a lot stronger and being empowered by
other women in the area, women and men, but I
feel like we're mostly women.

Speaker 2 (07:59):
I think that's the spot for you.

Speaker 5 (08:00):
We do a lot of fun stuff. You will make
friends there. We've seen it happening already. So come to
a place where you feel welcome would be my pitch.

Speaker 4 (08:06):
Yeah, and me for we know that starting a new
workout is intimidating, and walking through those doors is the
first stop. So take that first step, walk through a doors.
We have our welcoming member experience specialists are going to
welcome you, give you the tour. We come as you are,
Leave Unstoppable as our tagline, So come as you are.
We don't wherever you are in your fitness journey, just start,
just to start, Just open that door.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
What's your website?

Speaker 4 (08:27):
It is www dot encore lagree dot com.

Speaker 1 (08:30):

Speaker 1 (08:44):
