Speaker 1 (00:05):
Welcome back to what matters.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
And you know there are companies and organizations that really
matter to our community, Mindy, And the next interview that
we have is one of those, plus an old friend
of ours.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
Andy, what's it feel like to be back into a
radio station in studio?

Speaker 4 (00:23):
Oh, Mindy, where are you at?

Speaker 3 (00:26):
We're coming home from Penn State.

Speaker 4 (00:28):
How they do it?

Speaker 3 (00:28):
Tony Lyons? And we took them down nice. They beat
us the second game, and we beat him the first
and third game. And you know what, Andy, I know
you're a huge UM fan. Guess who's coming to town
this week. Baby.

Speaker 5 (00:40):
I would be at that game if I was not
going to be in Chicago for a volleyball tournament.

Speaker 4 (00:43):
You know that?

Speaker 3 (00:45):
Yeah, I did that. So funny thing is Mikayla. He
goes to a game. As soon as he leaves, Gammy
hits the home run.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
Clockwork, clockwork.

Speaker 5 (00:54):
We my daughter and I left, got in the car,
got home, got on Twitter, and I saw she hit
a home run and she was the next up to
bat that My daughter was ready.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
I know, I know. Yeah, it's a good thing you left.
Maybe you were rubbing off bad on her.

Speaker 5 (01:08):
My daughter did have a Michigan bracelet on, so we
didn't show you that that's what it is.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
Have you ever seen the stadium Often State for the
Nine Lions football? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:20):
Yeah, yeah. My brother played there. Actually he played for
Kent State, so we went over there.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
I didn't know that. That's the first time Randy and
I saw it. It's pretty big, and they're they're reconstructing.
They're rebuilding it. To you, they're adding all in.

Speaker 4 (01:32):
Well, it just pops up out of nowhere.

Speaker 5 (01:34):
You're driving in the middle of nowhere and then there's
this huge stadium, but.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
Right on the corner.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
Yeah, still not as big as a big house.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
So of course he would drop that in there, mindy,
of course he would.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
Are you still there, mindy? No, she's cough, she's coffin.
She has the allergies going on, I think. And Reinhard
with Jermaine I had a coffee jack, No, no worries.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
Andrew Reinhart, Andy Reinheart with Jermaine Automotive Partnership. He's their
marketing director. You know, everybody knows the Germaine name. And
we saw that you posted something earlier this week where
you're about to do something a bit innovative, a little
more revolutionary than normal.

Speaker 5 (02:20):
Yeah, I've you know, I've been there for about two
years now, and you know, we talk a lot about
car buying and the experience and you know, just how
do we stand out and how do we make it
a little bit different than everyone, because quite honestly, car
buying is you know, you can get the same brand
new F one fifty at our store at somebody else's store,
So it really comes down to more than just price.

(02:42):
So you know, we were just talking about this new
campaign and what we could do and you know, and
making the buying experience a lot more than just on price.
So that's that's kind of where we're at right now.
And you said you saw the video, so I appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Yeah, so we all know.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
And we were singing the jingle earlier, Jermaine Germine. Remember
that that's not going anywhere, right.

Speaker 4 (03:02):
Not going anywhere.

Speaker 5 (03:03):
We are just expanding off of it and came up
with a little bit of a new slogan, more than
a name. So we're just trying to show why we're
more than a name.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
And so more than a name, So maybe that's where
they're going, more than a name.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
The jingle's not leaving, so.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
What do you think, andy is the main message you
really want people to get out of more than a name.

Speaker 5 (03:25):
So it's interesting we you know, we came up with
we call them USP's unique selling points, and the six
unique selling points.

Speaker 4 (03:33):
Are more selection. We have over five thousand.

Speaker 5 (03:36):
Vehicles on one website. We came up with more value,
whereas if you find a vehicle that you like and
you find another dealership and it's priced lower, we will
give you one thousand dollars and match the price. We
have more assurance, which is a seventy two hour exchange policy.
You know, if you get a you know, maybe you
buy a truck and you realize, gosh, this thing doesn't
fit into my garage, you can return it before seventy

(03:58):
two hours. We have more confidence. We're offering a three month,
three thousand mile powertrain warranty on all qualified pre owned vehicles.
More convenience. As I said, we have seventeen dealerships, but
we have twelve here in town. And then more community
is the one that you know. To me, more community
says a lot about this This this family, i'll call it,

(04:18):
I don't even want to call it a company, but
a family. And the organizations that we, you know, support,
I mean we've been They've been doing business for seventy
eight years. So when you're doing business for seventy eight
years in the town that you live in and you support,
you know, you give back a lot. And it's just
something that to me is really what made me make
the switch and head over to Germaine about two years ago.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
Seventy two hour exchange policy. I want to talk about
that because I don't think I've heard much about that
with dealerships. Is that becoming a thing in your space now?
When you guys decided to do it or are you
on the front of.

Speaker 5 (04:51):
That, you know, we excuse me, we did it, I
believe we did it at the Hyundai store, made it available,
but again we didn't really go out and tell people
that it was just something that we did.

Speaker 4 (05:02):
We found that.

Speaker 5 (05:03):
You know, there are times where people buy a car
and say, I don't know if this is it or oh,
I thought this third seat was going to be what
I need and they don't, so, you know, and I'd say,
there are stipulations obviously, I mean, you know, you can't
take the car and drive it twenty thousand miles in
seventy two hours and then say hey, I want to
bring it back.

Speaker 4 (05:20):
But you know, I think in seventy.

Speaker 5 (05:22):
Two hours, you know pretty well if you're going to
like this car, if it's going to work for your needs.
So again, it was one of those things I said, well,
what makes us different? And that was one of them
we came up with.

Speaker 3 (05:32):
You know, when Mitchamas and I were talking earlier this show,
and we're going to have the conversation at the second
hour as well. You know, sometimes in life you take
a chance and you get a little older, and you
Andy had your career, You had the same job you
know at iHeart for so many years, but you took
a chance and you went to this place instead and
created a whole new job opportunity for yourself. Talk about

(05:54):
that a little bit, because it's scary to make that
jump from company to company. The place.

Speaker 5 (06:00):
Yeah, you know you mentioned I was with iHeart with
the stations here for twenty one years, left as the
VP of sales, loved it, loved the job, but was
ready for a new experience. And you know, there's a
lot of great companies here in town. And you know,
I think I could count on my hand of places
that I would have left somewhere for you know, after
twenty plus years for and this was one of them,

(06:21):
so known the family for a while. I've talked to
them over the years and just kind of kept putting
my hand up that, hey, you know, if if this
opportunity comes available, would would love to join the family and.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
Not actually the family should say.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
That they didn't think Germane at this point.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
Now.

Speaker 5 (06:37):
Yeah, but you know again, I just I look at
it and say, there's you know, when you're buying a car,
And that's kind of how we came up with the
more than a name. I just kept saying, we're more
than cars, We're more than cars, Like what does that mean?
And that's kind of where this evolved into, was you know,
more than a name, and you're.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
More than Central Ohio too.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
I mean, they've expanded over the years, and so I
would take get that your selection is it's wider than
what we have even in the lots here, right.

Speaker 4 (07:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (07:04):
So we've got two dealerships down in Naples, Florida. We
have a Toyota store and we have a Lincoln store.
We have three up in the state up north. We
have one in ann Arbor. We have a Lexus store
in ann Arbor. We have a Toyota store in Dundee, Michigan,
and then we also have a Toyota store in Lansing, Michigan.
So that's again kind of goes back onto the more
selection with you know, five thousand new or pre owned

(07:28):
vehicles on one website, which is you know, Gojermain dot com.
You can actually buy your vehicle right online. You never
have to step into the dealership, so that is again
kind of that more convenience. Like you know, some people
like to come in and kick the tires. Some people say,
this is exactly.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
What I want.

Speaker 5 (07:43):
I've done my research. You guys have at price the best.
They just go online and buy it.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
Mindy, you had to bring up ann Arbor and you
just had to throw ann Arbor in there.

Speaker 5 (07:53):
It's a great time. I was actually just there. I
was going to pick up some stuff I was I
just left.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
Did you throw out a big oh?

Speaker 6 (08:02):
No?

Speaker 5 (08:02):
I was looking for Carol Hutchins to remind her the
biggest mistake she made was not getting Cammy.

Speaker 3 (08:06):
But it's so funny. Let me ask you something. There's
a lot of talk right now with tariffs on auto
parts and on cars and really hoping to bring more
manufacturing for automobiles back to the United States. What do
you guys think of that? Is there any kind of
talker on the office with that?

Speaker 4 (08:23):
Yeah, you know what.

Speaker 5 (08:23):
I it's funny staying in the marketing department. I try
to stay there and not get too involved.

Speaker 4 (08:28):
I try to know and not get that.

Speaker 5 (08:29):
But I look at it as you know, the tariffs
aren't something that any of the dealerships or the manufacturers
have brought on.

Speaker 4 (08:36):
So you know, we have to do what we're being
told to do.

Speaker 5 (08:40):
And I look at it as attack. So you know,
is it uncertainty for some people?

Speaker 4 (08:44):
Sure?

Speaker 5 (08:45):
But you know, I mean there's so many manufacturers. So
we have we have a Nissan store here in town.
Nissan actually lowered their prices, lowered their MSRP on on
a lot of cars we have. Let me think, here,
I think, and you're gonna ask me this question. I
should have came more prepared, but I think Kundai has
like a sixty day They're not raising any prices on

(09:07):
ms rps. And then Ford is offering Ford and Lincoln
are offering friends and family pricing for everybody. So you know,
you start looking at it and then you start saying, well, okay,
who's made in other you know, in other countries, who's
made mostly here? You know, again, I think it's just
something that we all have to deal with. But if

(09:28):
you need a car, in my opinion, you're you're going to.

Speaker 4 (09:30):
Buy a car.

Speaker 5 (09:30):
So it's it's an extra tax and it's something that
we can't control. And you know, if we're doing it,
everyone else is.

Speaker 2 (09:36):
So yeah, across the board, yep, so you I but
the friends and family idea and the coming down to
the m s RP with the other those are the
things you can do to offset a little bit of
at least to keep people shopping.

Speaker 5 (09:47):
Yeah, and that's the manufacturers. That's that's not even us,
So you know, to have that. And then one of
our more you know, more value is you know, we
we guarantee you know, if you've seen the TV spots
yet that just started last week. H Rick Jermaine, the
owner of the company, is out there saying, you know,
no one's going to sell you a car for less,
and that's true, so you know, we can do what
we can do. And then you know, if you've got

(10:08):
another offer from somewhere else and you come and find
a similar car.

Speaker 4 (10:11):
We're going to sell it to you. We're going to
sell it deep for less and give you a thousand dollars.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
I'll play the audio from it real quickly. Here we go, Middi,
this is what is on tv H.

Speaker 6 (10:20):
I'm Rick Jermaine. For nearly eighty years, you've remembered the name.

Speaker 3 (10:23):
But Jermaine is.

Speaker 6 (10:24):
More than a name. With over five thousand vehicles to
choose from, we offer you more selection. Plus you'll get
more value with our one thousand dollars price promise. No
one sells more cars and no one will sell you
a car for less. You'll have more assurance with our
seventy two hour exchange policy, and you can buy with
more confidence going at Every pre owned vehicle comes with

Speaker 3 (11:02):
More than any There you go, Mendy, I love it
who does their marketing.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
M somebody a team with a smart leader.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
I'm thinking, Yeah, you know what though, it is so smart.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
You've been with that community. Are this dealership has been
part of this community more than seventy years. It's so
smart to invest in its people and to let people
realize that, yeah, they really are more than the name.
Invest in people and you find success. I think it's great.

Speaker 4 (11:32):
Ay, thanks Mendy, And you know that's it's funny.

Speaker 5 (11:35):
I just printed out some of the organizations that we
do support, and you know, I think the biggest logo
I see right here is Ohio State. We do a
lot without Ohio State. We've got Pelotonia coming up. Operation
Warm is something that we do. We donate our time
and hand out jackets to some of the you know,
less unfortunate children in the community, the Middle High Food Bank,

(11:57):
and I could really literally go on and read all
these crystal rays, Brighter Days, you know, even some of
the things in the other markets. Yeah, so you know again,
that's what it's all about. And in my opinion, it's
I tried. I tried to when I did this, I
tried to say, well, what what do I look for?
Whenever I'm going to buy a vehicle, and it's usually
you know, someone's second largest purchase behind their house. And

(12:18):
you know, to do it with someone who's given you
an you know, giving you assurance, making sure you're get
in the right car, making sure that if it's not
the right car, you can return it, making sure that
if you're buying a used car, you can trust it it's.

Speaker 4 (12:27):
Got a good warranty.

Speaker 5 (12:28):
And then know that they you know that we give
back to the community that we serve. It's just it's
just been a blessing to be there for the last
two years.

Speaker 3 (12:36):
I love hearing that you mentioned Krista Ray. That's where
Randy works now really and he and he talks about
all the time, the community involvement with the student body
there and with the school. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (12:45):
Yeah, I've done the last two years. I've been there
on their draft and it's so great to see these kids.
They you know, they get drafted, we you know, organizations
draft them and then they come to work for us,
and you know, it's been pretty fun. We've you know,
to see some of the things we've given these kids.
I think it's just right. They're getting toolboxes and it's
just and there's so many companies that you know and
are very aware of that are involved at Crystal Ray.

Speaker 4 (13:07):
So if you're not, I would suggest checking.

Speaker 2 (13:08):
It out, including the Ohio Department of Commerce, who drafted
five interns last year, and I we love our interns,
and now I'm talking to them about what are your
college plans? What are you doing with this? I mean,
it's such an opportunity. So I love it that you
guys are doing it. I know exactly what that program
is and it's fantastic.

Speaker 3 (13:26):
I'm Brandy keeps shaking his head, yes, agreeing with you guys.
He's driving the car right now, it's riding back and
he keeps shaking the head. Yeah. Christ raise a great setup.

Speaker 5 (13:35):
Andy.

Speaker 1 (13:35):
Where do folks go to learn about more?

Speaker 5 (13:38):
Yeah, go to goat. Let's let's start that over. Visit
go germain dot com. And as I said, every vehicle
we have that's for sale there any you know, if
you need to contact any of our body shops, the
insurance company. We also have an insurance company. We've got
service centers. I mean, you name it. It's all right there.

Speaker 2 (13:55):
So awesome, Go Germain dot com. All right, thank you
for being here. Mindy was good to see his face. Sir,
you couldn't give him a hug.

Speaker 3 (14:06):
Yeah, I know, but I saw his face a few
weeks ago.

Speaker 4 (14:09):
Sorry about that, Candy.

Speaker 3 (14:11):
I love you. I'm so glad you came in studio
and it was a great conversation on Master Sunday.

Speaker 2 (14:16):
I said to him, as he's coming in with his
memorial tournament hat on.

Speaker 5 (14:20):
So my son was pretty bumm that I was leaving,
but I told him I could see it on the phone,
so I'll be back there to see the end.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
All right. Well, thanks Andy.

Speaker 4 (14:27):
This is what matters.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
Yeah, of course, this is what matters. On six' ten
