(01:06):
so it's the holidays. There's a lot of really sweet
stories that you might see but the South drive In,
which are have you ever been to.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
The South Drive in?
Speaker 1 (01:17):
So it's it's actually one mile north of I two seventy,
but it's called the South Drive in and it's on
High Street thirty to fifty South High Street, so what's interesting,
So it must be on the other like a mile
north of two seventy on the south side. They had
this really great thing that they did for the holidays.
(01:39):
They posted about their flea market staff will be making
Christmas Eve dinner for those who are not able to
get out or can't leave their house for whatever reason.
So if they said, if you're in need of dinner,
please call or text this number will help as many
people as we can. Food will be delivered to homes
Wednesday evening. And then they said this is not a
political post. This is a post about human and helping
(02:00):
those in need. And the response cat was huge, so
so many people donated. They updated on Christmas Eve. It
helped go a long way. They started delivering. They actually
couldn't take any more requests because the demand was so
high to get the help into these homes. They said,
(02:25):
since this was a success, we'll be doing this again.
Wash our page for the post. We're proud to support
those in need in our community, just like you have
supported us all these years. Without you, there would not
be a drive in more than one hundred and thirty
meals were served.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
That is ulterior.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
I mean that is communities standing up for the people
who are their neighbors and living purpose right and finding
ways to do it. I thought that was just an incredible,
incredible story from the South Drive In and I give
them all the kudos in the world.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
Absolutely. I love that so much. You know, I think
that people will show up for their communities. I just
truly believe that there are so many good people in
the world and they want to do good, but it
can also be so overwhelming with what to do. So
when you know South Drive In puts something together like
that and all you have to do is show up
and like provide, it's like an amazing feeling, right, That's fantastic.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
Yeah, And so follow South drive In give them a
like or two on their Facebook page for that post
because I just think it was a wonderful thing to
do this holidays amazing.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
So that was my good news.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
So what good news do you have?
Speaker 2 (03:38):
I was so excited to bring this today. I've been
talking about this for days, that's how much you love it.
Speaker 1 (03:46):

Speaker 2 (03:56):
So they have this really really cool program where you
can do overnights with the dog. So rather than full
on commit to adopting a dog, you can take the
dog for an overnight or a couple of days overnight
and it the benefit is getting the dog out, getting
the dog socialized, giving them a break from being in
their kennel, and then providing feedback back to the folks
(04:20):
at Franklin County Dog Shelter to kind of let them
know like how it went. Yeah, the dogs like and
what they don't like. They had a drive to get
all there this. I'm not gonna cry, I promise they
had a drive to get all of their dogs out
to overnights over Christmas. They had one hundred and thirty
eight shelter dogs. What and they got them and I
(04:42):
was following they were all got them all out and
got them all overnights. I know, right, That's amazing, isn't
that incredible.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
So dogs had a place to go for Christmas. Yes,
what a sweet, sweet story.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
It says it was. The shelter is the quietest and
calmest it's been in years, all thanks to this community.
