Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hours of raw and now we're going to have a
pack two hours of what matters and we get to
give things out because it has officially beat Michigan Week.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
I wrote it with the X. Did I do it appropriately?
For the folks at Valleydale? I was thinking that they
probably buy into that too.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
Of course they do.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
Remember when they were in studio?
Speaker 3 (00:18):
Was it last week?
Speaker 2 (00:18):
They were just here?
Speaker 1 (00:19):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (00:20):
I think it was xagin X again, that's how she
says Michigan. But I think you could go either way.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
But I hate when people call it Michigan Week. It
is not Michigan Week. That gives them way too much
credit and too much power. It's beat Michigan Week, which
hopefully Ryan they will do it this year. I'm saying
he does it this year.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
I probably would have said that the last couple of years, right,
but they right.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
This was the year of the head coach changed for
them because of all the drama, right, yes, yes, So
I feel like there's a chance. And the way Ohio
State's been playing, oh my gosh, a.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
Lot of people were not happy with how they played yesterday.
But you had two your star receivers off the field,
I mean.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
And you still scored forty two points. I mean, and
what did Rutgers score? Was it six or nine? I
can't remember?
Speaker 1 (01:05):
Ten?
Speaker 2 (01:05):
Did they get to ten?
Speaker 1 (01:06):
But you know what, it's the first time, Mikayla, I've
been in the Shoe for a game in a long time.
It's been a while because every time I get an
opportunity to go, I'm like, you know what, I appreciate it,
but I think you get to the point in your
life I'm like, I just would rather watch it at home.
And I've been to the biggest games in that stadium,
And not to take away from any game at all,
Ohio State against Rutgers, but it is Ohio State against Rutgers.
(01:30):
And when you are right there in the thick of
that stadium in the Horseshoe, when Ohio State is playing
that team up north the year that they were ranked
one and two, it doesn't get any better or bigger
than that. I've been to some great, great games there.
I feel very, very honored and thankful to have had
those opportunities. But then you get to that part in
your life and you're like, let other people go and enjoy.
(01:52):
But to be back down there tailgating and seeing that
you know what, I just had to smile to myself
when I see that horse shoe filled with Buckeye nation,
the colors, the beautiful colors of scarlet and gray, and
just to hear that roar. It made me very thankful
to be back there.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
So you were happy to be back there?
Speaker 1 (02:11):
Yeah, really, I know what. I didn't think I would
miss it like it, But it was great. It was
a great feeling to be back in what a beautiful day.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
You have been spoiled. I even have been spoiled. I
mean when I got here, they would send her night side,
a reporter on the weekends to cover the game, and
you'd be on the field. I don't remember what all
the angles were that I covered, but you know, it
was such an investment of the TV station's time. You
were able to cover some great games and beyond the game.
And so, yeah, we're a little spoiled. And it's to
(02:39):
get into the stadium proper. There's a lot you got
to go through to get in there, so it takes
some time.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
It doesn't then there's parking, and then just you get
to a certain age you just don't want to deal
with the headaches anymore. But I was glad that we did.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
Know.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
I will tell you this, we parked always away.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
So I was going to ask you where you parked
and what time you had to get there.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
So back in the day, we used to park at
Channel four at the parking lot and just walk down
Old Tang River Road. It didn't take that long. So
we parked across the street from Channel four in one
of the hotels. We just used that little lot walk
and poor Randy doesn't walk like I walk, and I'm
high tailing it. I'm like, cause we're planning to meet Cammy.
Cammy was the one who provided these tickets for us.
She had tickets to give away to her family and
(03:19):
different friends and stuff, and we were going to tailgated
and meet her when you can because she's on the schedule.
She's working for the department. They have like department, but
there's a certain window we can actually go and see her.
So I was like a mom on a mission. Come on.
Randy's like, you know, we see Cammy about every day
because she's living with us right now. I'm like, it
doesn't matter. Any opportunity you get to see your kids,
you do. So I'm used to walking fast and it's
(03:40):
no big deal for me. Well, poor Randy's a big
dude and he's trying to keep up. He's trying to walk.
Speaker 3 (03:45):
So today he said, I think, man, I think my
calves feeling.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
And he has great out I know, and he works
out a lot, but when you don't speed walk like
we did. But we reached it in time, had a
great time with great people, and I was very thankful
to be back in the thick of it with all
of you Buckeye fans. It was great again to be
back there. That's awesome.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Yeah, we had Hilliard Idol yesterday.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
What is that?
Speaker 2 (04:09):
So it's like American Idol, but Hilliard does it. And
these kids are amazing Christians group performed. His a cappella
group performed, but he was not a finalist. There are
ten junior finalists, ten senior finalists, and mindy these kids
in Hilliard. One of the judges says, I don't know
what's in the water over here, but some of you
have some of the most talented kids when it comes
(04:30):
to vocals. And so it was just a real joy
that was That was like three a three and a
half hours for me last night. So that was a
big commitment last night in my world?
Speaker 1 (04:39):
Did someone really stand out to you that you think
yourself of? Now, what's the age range? Did you say
it was?
Speaker 2 (04:44):
So, it's a junior group and a senior group, but
the junior group can be elementary kids. But there was
a fifth grader, a boy who sang Fireflies, you know
the song that I'm talking about.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
Yeah, he was amazing.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
He was the people's choice. But who who was even
more amazing than that? No, because he did. He wasn't
a finalist. He did great though when it came to Yeah,
I'll show you some video, say.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
I wish you had sound, we could maybe play it
for everybody.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
I do. I have a little bit of sound. But
what I will say is, while I'm pulling it up
this there is a sixth grade girl who sang part
of your World from The Little Mermaids.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
I you mindy.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
You should have seen her her stage presence and every
in her voice.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
I was shocked. But don't you think you either have
it or you don't.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
I mean, you can get better no matter what your
skill is, with rehearsals and practices and voice coaches or
any kind of coach, whatever you love to do. But
I think naturally some people have it or they don't,
and she did.
Speaker 2 (05:42):
I was shocked for her to be eleven years old,
and I wish I had a video of it. She
literally stunned me. Here's a quick snippet of their performance.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
This is just a group familiar.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
So this Christians a cappella group from seventh and eighth grade.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
How many kids you're talking about are in that group?
Speaker 2 (06:07):
There's about twenty of them.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
That sounded good and they didn't mean the final list.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Well, no, So it's individuals that compete, and so they
had the a cappella groups, which a couple of them
have won international competitions in Hilliard. They performed last night.
So while they were telling the judge of scores, you
know how that works with things et seed. So yeah,
it was it was great, and yeah it was very good.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
It was.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
It's been a busy weekend.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
I want to ask you about your hat. Look into
the camera before we get to that. Dick from Dayton
real quickly, Dicky said, you wanted to talk about the game,
So what.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
Did you think of the game?
Speaker 1 (06:37):
And is Ohio Ista going to win this year?
Speaker 4 (06:39):
It's the greatest thing I've ever seen. They're this year
a year for.
Speaker 3 (06:44):
Those guys they won it all last year.
Speaker 4 (06:47):
You know, I just think it's so good.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
You know, Yeah, they looked pretty good. Yeah, defense especially.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
How do you feel about scores coming up this week?
Speaker 4 (06:56):
Dick?
Speaker 2 (06:56):
Any any guesses?
Speaker 4 (06:59):
Well, you know, I'm thanking. The only team that is
going to give us is Indiana. But I'm I'm you know,
I'm but good to talk to you guys.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
Well, Tank, you too, thank you, And yeah, it'll most
likely be Indiana and High State the Big Ten championship.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
Yeah, it most well.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
We love you copy Thanksgiving and we're going to talk
about things. We're thankful for our listeners far and away
one of the most thankful things that we do feel.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
And we have loyal callers. We love to have you
guys call in and chat with us each weekend.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
All right, what's up with your team? USA? So?
Speaker 2 (07:35):
Yeah, so I it's white and blue. It's white and blue, right,
I am in?
Speaker 3 (07:40):
I know you, I know I have no yellow on
st Do I look like I couldn't.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
I couldn't look like Penn State. That's not what I'm channeling.
I was just like comfortable, clean clothes. But okay, so
I'm in the I am in the camera. We are
live on Facebook pages today, so look up INDI your
eye and you'll find us. But so I have this
hat on, and ten us say, my husband interviewed a
potential skeleton competitor for the Olympics through what he does
(08:08):
at Ohio Health. And so he has a podcast at
Ohio Health and so he you know, treat like treatment
and those kinds of things. And so he doesn't look
good in white hats. And so I get Marcus says,
he doesn't look good white hat.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
How do you not look good in a colored I
don't get you don't look good in a white hair?
Speaker 2 (08:27):
This his face looks too wide in a white hat.
And I honestly I do that analogy at all. He
has a big old head like a white hat head,
and yeah, he just doesn't and he's pale, you know, Marcus.
So I had him try it on before I took
it from him or he gave it to me, but
before I said okay, you're ye, like, yeah, you don't
(08:47):
look good in it.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
So I get that hat, and you.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
Know, Milan is right around the corner. It's in what February.
I want to say, So is that when the winner
I think it is, so I was like, yeah, I'll
sport this in the USA all the way.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
I like it. Yeah, you can't go wrong when you're
on Team USA.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
You can't.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
You know, you can go wrong with your cheering for
that stupid school up north, but can't go wrong. So
we have a lot, a lot, a lot to talk about.
And yes, we mentioned Validale. We love the Valley Dale.
And I don't know if you guys realize this, but
they have dances at one of the last five remaining
ballrooms in the entire USA, and it's a beautiful ballroom,
(09:27):
but they have dances every Friday night. This upcoming Friday
is a little different.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
Yeah, it's the Beat Michigan Dance and they're gonna have
a DJ there. I know she talked about that and
as well. Yeah, and the band as well. So if
you're looking for something great to do on Friday night,
it's an awesome option. And we have some tickets to
give away.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
We're gonna give away tickets to that coming up in
the second hour. And obviously Thanksgiving is Thursday, and a
lot of us love it because you get to see
family that you haven't seen her. It's just that whole
feeling of togetherness. But if we're really honest, it can
be also a little difficult because maybe you've lost a
loved one and this is your first Thanksgiving without your
(10:03):
parent or grandparent or friend or cousin, and then it's
kind of difficult, it really is.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
There may be some other kind of rift in your
family too, and you're showing up to a difficult spot.
So Anne Hurst open arms counseling. She is a favorite
on this show. I mean, we could take your phone
calls if you have questions when she's in at four
thirty five today, or we can just have a general
conversation with her about how to survive during this time
when it can be hard.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
And I'm so excited we have a new debut of
a segment with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. How well do
you really know these musicians, the people who live and
breathe the symphony.
Speaker 2 (10:44):
Well, and they do more. This is not their full
time job. And I noticed that in the signature of
the gal that we're going to be talking with today.
Speaker 3 (10:51):
I think it is.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
I mean, if you think you're in the Columbus Syphony Orchestra,
when you think that's your full time day, I.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
Would think so, but you know, we're going to learn
more about how it works because did you see that
on our Yes, I was like, oh, she does that too,
and so I think there's no better way you can
honor your community by going to see a great performance
and knowing that they do with something else a little
different too, with their lives. So I'm excited to meet
Jenna Hubner. She's coming in. She's a double bassist. And
(11:15):
I don't know about you, but symphony orchestra really moves me,
like a really great violin and all the things.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
All of the percussions.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
I mean, it's just you feel it in your heart sometimes.
And so great holiday stuff too, I'm sure. So we'll
talk with her in the five o'clock hour.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
Speaking of holidays, have you decorated yet? Yes or no?
For you, Michaia, I have not, so I actually decorated
you may Lake House because I was up there. Randy
came up later on Friday. He's like, what you do all?
Dan Like, well, way, do just step inside? Created of
course I went back to the Dollar Store.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
Oh it's the best.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
The Dollar Store is perfect, especially when decorating for Christmas
and other holidays. So it's not like I'm used to
my househouse. That's just it vomits Christmas. We have so
much stuff through the years. Yeah, Randy's parents always got
us Christmas decorations that we have just collected, so we
have just an assortment. So the little house in India
Lake is nothing like that.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
But it's okay.
Speaker 2 (12:13):
Well, I love that you brought up the dollar store
thing because I've been seeing dollar store dupes and we'll
have to ask Melinda Peters Elliott about this when she
comes on in the five o'clock hour, because I've seen
some interesting dollar store dupes.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
What do you mean?
Speaker 2 (12:26):
You know what a dupe is? Right?
Speaker 1 (12:28):
Like, I don't understand why you're putting it in with this,
like what for.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
Example, like a pottery barn or I don't want to
say restoration hardware, but Creighton Beryl. So dollar store dupes
for those products that are at those high ends. So
I wonder what Melinda would say about that and how
it's possible. I love that you brought that up.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
Melinda, with fine designs and interiors, is going to give
us all kinds of great advice to decorate and make
it look cozy for the family, for Thanksgiving and also
for Christmas and New Year's.
Speaker 2 (12:59):
Yeah, Ted, before we go to break, we can take
your call real quick. You have a question about Mindy's
lake house that she has just decorated for Christmas.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
What's up, Ted?
Speaker 4 (13:08):
I was wondering if she got ya that tourist attraction
up the road therapy.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
I am listen to this. You called in a while ago.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
Tell us about it, right, yeah, quite a while.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
Remind our listeners what it is. I have not seen
it yet.
Speaker 4 (13:24):
It's just a couple of miles up the road on
thirty three there, but it's it's just political bandwagon on it.
Speaker 1 (13:31):
Oh yeah, I have not seen that. But you know
what I have seen, as I'm coming up on thirty
three getting really close to Indie Lake, a big Charlie
Kirk billboard with American flags. I passed that every time.
But I have not seen this thing that you've talked
about to us lately.
Speaker 4 (13:51):
I mean, you got to go up beyond Indian Lakes
for that.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
We actually when we go to Randy's family, that's when
we're going to go past Indian Lake because they're up
a little hour north of Indian Lake. Look, so I
will look for it. Specifically for you, Ted, I promise.
Speaker 3 (14:11):
Call on next Sunday. We'll see if I saw it.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
Yeah, all right, Happy Thanksgiving. I'm going to take a
picture of it.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
Yeah, put it in our group. Okay, you guys, it's
a Thanksgiving show. We're going to come back with hot topics.
This is what matters on six' ten TO wutv in.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
All, right hot, topics we talk about him n memory
single week right at this, time and obviously the big
hot topic Throughout Central ohio was the court case For Officer,
grubb who was cleared of all, counts one of those
being a charge of. Murder and we did talk to
his attorney in the first, hour first half hour of
raw and just to hear the different, side you, know
(14:54):
where the officer was saying To Mark, collins his, ATTORNEY
i can't Believe i'm going to be charged for, this
and to hear that side of. It you, know it
was a case THAT i think so many people watched
and were waiting to hear the. Verdict and he a
friend of his and a cohort texts me because she
was listening to the interview and she, said he never
wanted this to feel like a. Win situation because there
(15:16):
was a death and it was it was just a hard.
Situation if you all, opinion feel free to call in
at six one four eight two one, nine eight eighty.
SIX i did see so many comments with people so
thankful that he was.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
CLEARED i think it is one of those situations where
you have to.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
Know the.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
Details details. MATTER i was just saying that To mindy
off the air and so many. Times unfortunately, anymore when
you get a news, story you don't get all the.
Details you were talking about a headline ON Cbs news
that made it sound. Horrific what? Happened what was the?
Speaker 1 (15:51):
Headline the headline FROM Cbs news was An ohio police
officer acquitted after fatally shooting a black woman after a shoplifting.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
And she a pregnant black, woman? Correct is that?
Speaker 1 (16:04):
Right and that was but you don't even need to
put that race in there for one, thing and it
wasn't because of. Shoplifting and that's funny that you bring this, Up,
mikayla because when we talked to his, Attorney Mark, collins
and also THE fop President Brian, steele they both said
the exact same thing you. Did they get so frustrated
of misinformation or one side being portrayed and not the other.
(16:25):
Side you have to be transparent all the way. Around
they would agree with you one hundred.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
Percent, Yeah and in this the jury found him not
guilty based on the. Details AND i think and did
the officer say that they told her to stop eleven?
Times is that on the? Record, YES i, mean this
is a. Problem she should have. Stopped and so officers
are given the ability to use the force they're able
(16:52):
to use when they're in a situation that is life.
Threatening and she was about to run over, him right with?
Speaker 1 (16:57):
It get our, car get out of the. Car, stop
get out of the. Car and how many times do you.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
Have to say? That you? Know, YEAH i MEAN i,
know you, know we were also saying this off. Air you,
know there are bad apples in every, profession including, policing
but you have to look at the. DETAILS i don't
know if you realized there was a case in the
area THAT i was raised in In, Springfield, illinois kind
of close By Sonia. Massey does that? Name is that
(17:22):
name familiar to? You it was national. News she had
called police over a sheriff's deputy actually because she thought
there was a prowler near her. House she had boiling
water on her stove and, wait.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
Was this a while?
Speaker 3 (17:36):
Ago, YES i do remember, this, yes, Yes and so
it was caught on.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
Video it was and she she threw the water and
then it didn't hit. Him she, apologized ducked her, hand
ducked kind of behind a, counter raised her, hands and
then he shot her three times and she. Died so
that's a different situation than the situation we're talking, about
in my, opinion from the. Evidence SO i think we
(18:01):
have to know that evidence and details.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
Matter and if an officer feels, threatened if his life is,
threatened and that was the case of, this he felt
like his life was in.
Speaker 3 (18:09):
Jeopardy, yeah you.
Speaker 1 (18:10):
Know, Yeah And i've said so many, Times mikayla and everybody,
listening if we would just do what the officers ask
us to. Do if we have a, gun drop the,
gun drop the, gun stop, running stop, running just what to, do,
Right just just do. THAT i have something for, You
and you're gonna love this BECAUSE i think it is
a hot topic BECAUSE i think this is the world
(18:31):
that we live. In we get so used to technology
And alexa's and all that stuff that it has just
controlled our. Life listen to what. Happened this took place
inside a little coffee shop or, whatever AND i don't
even know where this, is but they were rolling on.
This so just listen to this And i'll explain, it
And i'll have you listen to one more. Time it's real. Quick,
(18:52):
okay go, Ahead, chris play? It? Hi CAN i place an?
Speaker 2 (18:55):
Order?
Speaker 1 (18:55):
Yeah you can place it With.
Speaker 2 (18:56):
Alexa oh, Okay? Alexa CAN i get an.
Speaker 1 (19:02):
That's a milk picture over? Here And alexa's a real.
Speaker 2 (19:05):
Person for, ONCE i saw something That mandy s, yes is.
Speaker 3 (19:11):
This the world that we live?
Speaker 1 (19:12):
In?
Speaker 2 (19:12):
SO i couldn't.
Speaker 3 (19:13):
Tell is it?
Speaker 1 (19:14):
Reelers at?
Speaker 2 (19:14):
STAGE i don't.
Speaker 3 (19:15):
Know it was kind of, like, oh that's kind of.
Funny it's kind of.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
Funny it was kind of, Cute.
Speaker 1 (19:19):
But why would you be rolling on?
Speaker 3 (19:20):
That but, anyway if it, correct.
Speaker 2 (19:22):
Why would you be rolling on?
Speaker 3 (19:23):
That but if it's either it is the world we're?
Speaker 1 (19:25):
Living really? True you totally thought or she totally thought
Of alexa as a device instead of a real per.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
Son do you think no one names their Kids alexa?
ANYMORE i work with An. Alexa SO i went to
college with An. Alexa BUT i wonder now in twenty twenty,
five if people don't name their Kid, alexa wouldn't of
THAT i wouldn't. EITHER i, mean nobody's naming their, Kids.
Siri we know that for the most, part there's a
few series out, there but alexis kind of a more
common ish, name AND i bet it is low on
(19:54):
the totem pole of new baby names.
Speaker 3 (19:55):
Lately what was your hot?
Speaker 1 (19:56):
Topic my hot?
Speaker 2 (19:58):
Topic oh my, gosh let me, LOOK i don't have
time for the sound THAT i, have So i'll continue
to save it because it's a good. One but my
hot topic actually had to do with tournaments On thanksgiving.
Weekends sports tournaments On thanksgiving. Weekend but maybe we can
talk a little bit about that later in our five.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
Twenty well we're Dedicating thanksgiving at five.
