Speaker 1 (00:00):
The next two of What Matters. And as soon as
Mikayla walks into the studio, I'm like, you look really
good your face. What do you do differently?
Speaker 2 (00:09):
And I said to you, after I said high.
Speaker 3 (00:11):
Whopper dog, I said, I just put some concealer in
a very specific place.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
That's what I just told you.
Speaker 3 (00:19):
Like I did it upwards from the corner of my
eye to the outer area of my eyebrow. And I said,
I did that after I did my eye makeup. And
it's supposed to give you a little lift.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
That's why I think that's what you're seeing. It's like
an optical illusion. Seriously, but you think it's my brow
I do.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
I just think they look more pronounced. I thought you
got botox. That's the funniest thing.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
I did not get boats.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
So what did you do this little concealer? You put
it where?
Speaker 3 (00:43):
So a line We're on Facebook Live, so will I
will point towards Mindy and I will point towards you.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
So I put lines like this with rat like a cat,
with just.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
The concealer after I was done with my eye makeup,
and then I patted it in.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
Wait a minute, you put concealer on af you put
eyeshadow on. Yes, Oh I did.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Cleaned up my corners that way.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
I mean it conceals, it.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
Conceals, yes, so maybe it brought everything up.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
Okay, So that's that's a good that's a good tip.
I always put concealer on first and then I put
my eyes shadow.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
I do too, but I did more, a little more concealer.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
Well, you did something right, because it looks really good.
I'll take the compliment. Meanwhile, I am like, no makeup
and a hat.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
Hey, you are still living the lake life and it
is November night.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
Right live in lake let We we we're going to
probably wrap the boat up and bring it back to
the place that we got it, Budgs Marina. But who
thought and who knew we would still be on our
boat in November?
Speaker 2 (01:45):
So tell me how cold was it yesterday?
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Honestly, it wasn't that bad. I had a winter coat
on and a hat. Randy had a hat, and he
kept trying to fish in a big old heavy sweatshirt.
But the dogs were with us. Let's just go, let's
just go one more time. We're not going to go
real fast, he wanted to just what do you call
it trolling? He wanted to go troll around the lake
to while he fished.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
So that's trolling, is not like a different social media.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
An actual fishing term. Troll. Yeah, you just kind of
you don't press the gas or anything or move the boat.
You just kind of troll along. And he didn't catch anything.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
I could definitely buy into that kind of trolling.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
But I have to ask something that I saw on
your social media posts. You got this, I want to say,
from TikTok. Maybe you're like, I've got to try this.
It looked like a marshmallow in a doughnut over a fire.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
It's a marshmallow in a Crispy Cream original donut.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
Did you get that off a TikTok?
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Totally got that off a TikTok?
Speaker 1 (02:44):
Was it good?
Speaker 2 (02:45):
Shockingly? Yes, we made a fire yesterday morning.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Fires. Yeah, and we.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
Know we hadn't made one this fall so far. Oh
really shockingly, we also hadn't done that. Maybe it's because
we were gone for a couple of weeks and it
finally got cool and so I picked up some Crispy Kreams.
I had like a large marshmallow at home, and you
just stick it in the middle of the donut. And
stab it with your thing that you put over the fire.
(03:13):
And I will tell you it was a delicious breakfast treat.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
So you would do it again.
Speaker 4 (03:20):
I would.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
I'm planning on it, but I would do it.
Speaker 5 (03:23):
Ya.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
Those are the funny things that you really do get
either on Pinterest, Instagram, TikTok. I don't know if you've
seen this. I'm going to try to pull up this sound.
It is the funniest thing. I don't know if it's real,
because you know, with AI, you just have to guess
is it real is it not? Because some of those
things look so real do they not?
Speaker 5 (03:45):
Well?
Speaker 3 (03:45):
Yeah, I mean, as you're pulling this up, I will
say and I meant to say this.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
I got duped by.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
Something last weekend that I said on this radio show,
but we wanted to believe it because we did. It
was the Julian saying thing about him giving away all
of his nil money, the one point two million, and
I saw the sources and Chris was like, yeah, I've
seen it too and it wasn't real.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
So yes, we can get real duped anymore. And you
know me, I pride myself on like sourcing material.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
You do that better than anyone I know. That's why
when I found out the information and I sent it
to you and Chris, I was shocked because you normally
do all that background looking because you have to these
days with AI. You don't know what's real. But why
put a story out there makes it look so believable
and it's not at all.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
I think this might be the life we're living in.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Well, sure it is, that's okay, show me this. So
this is a video I'm gonna show you and everybody
listening you have to hear it. I don't know if
you've seen these or not. There's these real life looking
cakes and they look just like cats or dogs like Whopper.
I would have a cake made just like Whopper, and
I cut this cake in front of Whopper and these
(04:56):
animals the way they react to this. Hold on, I'm
gonna play this and then I want the cake. Oh
that's wild. It's vanilla inside seat.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
Hey, I don't get out of my hair, perfect cut
right down the middle, easy, it's just okay. Stop.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
I mean, these cats are not happy. They're not happy
at all.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
It looks like they're getting like they're seeing their twin
being cut into and the twin's a cake.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
And the owners are doing it just to be funny
to get a reaction from their pets. It looks so real,
but some of those reactions, is that really real? I
just don't know. What is that crazy to get that
cake that looks so real like that and then cutting
into it in front of your pets.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
So I've seen some of the cake shows where they
make real life objects.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
Yes I guess which one's real or.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
Not, right, but I hadn't seen it done with an animal,
And unfortunately the video doesn't have an AI stamp on it.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
I kind of like it when that happens when you
haven't seen that.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
Parts of this video might be AI generated, like they
slap a label on it. No, so some social media
it is good, but it was not on that so
I don't and not everybody does it, so I don't.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
I'm I'm at a loss. That was a wild video and.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
They're all over Then they're doing them with their dogs,
they're doing them with parrots. This parrot's like, that's my friend,
that's my friends. Like it's so it's crazy to me
that that these are really real life videos. But the
reactions of these animals as they're watching their look like
get cut into. Why would you do that to your
poor pet?
Speaker 2 (06:48):
I don't know. I think it sounds a little emotionally abusive.
I'm not gonna lie to the pet.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
So you brought up the NIL money, yes with a
high state's quarterback that I was wrong. I didn't mean
that part.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
I'm just gonna say that.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
And I've been wanting to talk to you about this, yeah,
and all of our listeners, because I just can't believe
it's happening. But right now, Ohio is the forty fifth
state to allow high school athletes to accept NIL. A
Franklin County judge block the ban that was in place,
saying no athletes at the high school level cannot be
paid or right now they can be until it gets
(07:26):
voted in permanently, and that vote's going to take place
I think this month in November. So that was going
to be my hot topic because you took at NIL
and the college level. In my humble opinion, it has
almost ruined college sports. I think it's just gotten so
far out of control. I think they threw nil, which
(07:46):
is your name, image and likeness out there without a
lot of caps involved, without a lot of control involved.
Do I think some athletes should be paid because the
money they're bringing into the universities. Wholeheartedly, absolutely absolutely, but
I think there's going to be some guidelines put in
place because it is the have and have nots, and
kids aren't playing for their school that they love anymore.
(08:09):
They're paying for who has the most money to bring
them over and that's sad.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
So that that's one of our hot topics guys. So
we'll get you on the line for this. Would love
your opinion. Six one four eight two one nine eight
eight six that six one four eight two one WTVN
some setup facts.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
So okay, the IHSAA.
Speaker 3 (08:30):
Is voting on this for high school kids soon or
a different group.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
So the Ohio High School Athletic Association you have to
be member coaches, so if your school is in that
membership of the Ohio High School Athletic Association, you will
soon be voting on this. A judge took the ban
away temporarily, so right now Ohio high school athletes can
accept a deal with their name, image and likeness, they
(08:55):
can get paid. This whole stemmed from an Ohio high
school football star who was committed to Ohio State and
the family of this young man fought it and said,
you're cheating our son out of a lot of money
that he could be getting. Like I said, if this
goes to fruition and it stays as is, Ohio will
be the forty fifth state allowing high school nil. I
(09:20):
just can't believe it.
Speaker 3 (09:23):
And blue chip players are the ones who benefit, the
ones you're about to get or are being actively recruited
or if committed to these schools, and you know some
of them come from meager beginnings, right, and so it
can also be very attractive if you're an athlete who's
really put yourself into the sport and haven't come from
(09:43):
much when it comes to your economics.
Speaker 1 (09:46):
But chances are you're going to get a full ride.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
I mean chances are.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
I just thought, so, yeah, that's a great hot topic.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
I don't know what your hot topic was, but we
do want to tee up the rest of the show.
I just thought, with you thrown out saying I did
quarterback for Ohio State, yeah, I think, And what happened
last week when we announced that, I thought, okay, we'll
throw out that too, with a high school nil, I'll
maybe get the phone calls ring Yeah, we would love
to know your opinion on this, but also we've got
a lot of stuff going up today.
Speaker 4 (10:10):
We do.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
So there is a case that I think it's being
talked about pretty quietly in the Upper Arlington community, but
some things are starting to come.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
To the service. That's how I'll put it.
Speaker 3 (10:21):
Brad Kawfl is going to come in and talk about
an investigation he's working on. And you know Brad from
his podcast and his radio show here on WTVN for
the Defense. Brad is working with a family in Upper
Arlington to make sure a situation didn't stem out of
bullying and harassment. And you reached out to him this
(10:42):
week to talk about this because it's an important subject.
Speaker 1 (10:45):
Well, you brought it to my attention. I honestly had
not heard about it yet. I did see that there
have been some media coverage. Some local stations have followed
this a little bit, and I've put it out there,
but nothing to the extent of maybe what it should be. Yeah,
because of what you told me should never happens something
like this, Na Kayla.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
So I don't know how much Bratt'll be able to
share today, but we will have that conversation at four
thirty five, and then into the holiday season, we go
we've got Kappa comings, Yes we do. Yeah, top of
the five.
Speaker 2 (11:15):
What are they going to talk about?
Speaker 1 (11:16):
Different Broadway shows that are coming to town, And what
a great gift idea, go get some tickets to Broadway.
You know, people don't think of Columbus as far as
being on Broadway, but there's some darn good shows that
come through our city, and our Kappa does a great
job of promoting them and bringing you shows that you
normally wouldn't get a chance to see on live stage.
Speaker 3 (11:38):
And I can't wait to hear about some of the
musical stuff they have coming.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
Into for the holidays. You always know that they do.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
Something interesting or a whopper of the holiday schedule.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
She's old, she's fat, she's mostly blind and deaf, but
she leaves her a jump right, see her jump right
up into my arms.
Speaker 3 (11:56):
Say high, whopper, a whopper and somewhere breathing, can we
all can? So we'll do that at five o'clock. And
then at five thirty five. A group that is doing
good things in the corporate community.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
Yeah, you know what it's all about, volunteering, and it's
such a good time of the year when we're in
November and we're being thankful for what's in our life,
and then you get into the holidays and you want
to find a way to do good, to do some
good in your own community and to make a difference. Well,
if you've ever thought about volunteering and you don't know
who quite to volunteer for, they match you up with
(12:32):
different nonprofits to give back. They'll look at your personality,
what you care about, what would be a great match
for you, Because sometimes people want to give back, they
don't know where to begin, how, they don't know who
to help.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
And I think they might work with some companies too
from looking into their website.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
So we'll we'll have that coming up at five thirty five. So, yes,
hot topics, what's your on topic?
Speaker 3 (12:54):
It has to do with graveyards and teslas and so
what I would love to know and hear from If
people out here are listening with a tesla, If you
have a Tesla, we want to talk to you and
I'll show Mindy why. But something is happening and Fox
eight did something on this. Something is happening with tesla's
(13:16):
in graveyards that is very odd. The screen is showing
people who are not there.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
What I know. So have you been in a tesla before?
Speaker 1 (13:29):
I have not. I can text a friend of Cammi's
who has one, so.
Speaker 3 (13:33):
You can see the people that you're passing by. We
wrote in a lot of tesla's when we were in Italy,
and you can see like the foot traffic next to
your car, and it represents the people so you don't
run into them.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
Some extra people are showing up in graveyards.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
Oh that's weird.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
So I'm gonna we'll talk about that in hot topics.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
So give us a call if you have a tesla,
but really also give us a call if you have
interest and thoughts on this nil thing with high school
students six one four eight two one nine eight eight
six six one for a two to one WTVN.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
This is what matters. Born like a little puffer coat.
I didn't. I just came in like this, I did.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
I brought my was yours here, my little more there
coat out there.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
Lake yesterday, puffer coat today.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
I only had the puffer coat on the boat while
I was early yesterday. So a couple of things we're
talking about. Would love to know your opinion of Nil name,
image and likeness now moving into the high school athletes
in the state of Ohio, it's already been around for
forty four different states at the high school level. Actually,
it's basically letting your high school athlete get paid to
(14:41):
be an athlete.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
Yeah, and so what do you think about that?
Speaker 3 (14:44):
There is a band that was temporarily lifted Mindy shared
before the break where currently high school athletes can get paid.
But there will be a vote coming up with the
Ohio High School Athletic Association here and not very long,
So we would I love to hear your thoughts on
high school athletes getting paid for your NIL?
Speaker 1 (15:04):
Do you think they should or shouldn't.
Speaker 2 (15:05):
I think it's so.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
Early, and I think you could pay a kid now,
but we have no clue what could happen to his
body or his brain as he's going through the college years.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
What is wrong with letting kids be kids playing for
the love of the game, keep practicing, keep working your
butt off to get to the next level, to go
and play in college where now NIL is alive and
well and real, and it has changed the face of
sports forever. It's basically professional athletes at the college level.
(15:35):
Should they be at the high school level too. You're
a professional when you're paid for what you do.
Speaker 3 (15:39):
You are and I think I'm kind of over some
of our fast culture.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
That's how I'm going to put it.
Speaker 3 (15:45):
There are certain stages in life you get to and
you are successful in those stages based on the hard
work you put in that we're talking about, and this
fast culture wants us to.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
Have more, quicker, better, better And I slow down, buddy, Yeah,
it's okay to slow down.
Speaker 3 (16:04):
So I think when I think about this, for a
senior in high school who's committed to an Alabama or
something like that or Ohio State, you think to yourself, Okay,
well what else am I looking forward to? And how
do I protect my body to not get hurt during
this time?
Speaker 1 (16:23):
Right there? Is So we are taking your phone calls
about that. Are you four or against high school athletes
getting paid? The other thing, Mikayla just showed me this
video and it really applies to those of you who
have a Tesla. It's so eerie what you show you.
Speaker 2 (16:38):
It's very creepy.
Speaker 3 (16:39):
So those of you who have a Tesla know this,
but for those who don't. Tesla vehicles they're equipped with
these advanced camera systems designed to detect people and other objects,
and it puts those images on a screen, that big
screen inside teslas.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
It's easy to see that teslas have those screens from
the driver's seat in the passenger seats.
Speaker 3 (16:59):
But a growing number of drivers nationwide reports seeing quote,
phantom figures. I'm going to put that in quotes, like
ghosts appearing on their screen when no one is nearby.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
So I showed Mindy.
Speaker 3 (17:11):
This this video, and I will say, Mindy, whether you're
a real person or you're a phantom figure, all the
figures look like this.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
Those crosswalk figures, so pedestrian something like that.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
So those of you who have tesla's know about this.
Speaker 5 (17:27):
I remember coming.
Speaker 1 (17:28):
Around this one section again where we could come by already.
Also what also boom? We saw flags like okay, that's creepy.
And then they just started to accelerate from their cameras
designed to detect people producing images out of thin air.
And these are they're driving by the cemeteries. This is weird.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
While they're in cemeteries.
Speaker 3 (17:49):
And so Fox eight actually did a story on this.
I'm not bringing it to you from some weird article,
but Fox bits Yeah, I know, right, did something on
that and I find it just very interesting.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
I knew it would be a good hot topic.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
So we want to know if you drive a Tesla.
Has this ever happened to you? One of Cammy's very
very best friends has a Tesla. I asked him to
call in. He didn't want to, But Ben, thank you
for calling us up to see if. I just want
to know have you experienced this at all? Have you
seen these type of videos from other Tesla drivers? What
they're putting out there?
Speaker 4 (18:27):
I think, Ben me with us.
Speaker 1 (18:29):
Can you you know what we didn't We were not
able to take your phone call right away? So can
you repeat what you just said?
Speaker 5 (18:34):
Ben?
Speaker 4 (18:36):
So, I don't know. I've seen the video and stuff,
but I don't it's kind of far fact. I think
Elon Musk would probably be messing with us and doing
that on purpose. So I don't know. I've had nothing
but good things with the Tesla.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
So have you been inside a cemetery with a Tesla?
Speaker 4 (18:54):
I'm not I got to try that out, I guess.
Speaker 2 (18:56):
I mean that's what I want you to do.
Speaker 3 (18:58):
I went in and try it out, and not less
if you see anything, because the Fox eight team went
and did it themselves and it happened to them like
you could see the reporter on the dashboard, but then
there was another figure near her that came out of nowhere.
Speaker 2 (19:13):
And yes, that's it's creepy.
Speaker 4 (19:18):
I've heard that it's just programmed in there to do
that just to mess with people. But now I'll try
that out for sure, because sometimes it shows up as
figures when it's like a cone or something, but not
usually so, so you think.
Speaker 3 (19:32):
It could be like an inanimate object that's showing up,
but that's not supposed to be how it's supposed to go.
Speaker 4 (19:38):
I mean, if that's happening all the time, I think
it would be programmed in there to do that when
you go near a cemetery.
Speaker 1 (19:44):
How long as you had your Tesla been.
Speaker 4 (19:47):
I think like two months now.
Speaker 1 (19:49):
So are these for older models? Are they happening right now, Mikayla?
Speaker 3 (19:52):
I mean, Ben, you have the figures walking like the
pedestrians walk by you when they're real pedestrians, right.
Speaker 4 (19:58):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, so you can see.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
The people, so the figures are real people, but the
figures are also in cemeteries.
Speaker 2 (20:07):
They're saying others, Ben, thank you for setting that up for.
Speaker 1 (20:09):
Us, Yes, and drive by a cemetery without Cami in
your car, drive by a cemetery and let us know
what happens. All right, Ben oh will, thanks buddy.
Speaker 2 (20:18):
Thanks Ben. Pete, you're on the line with an NIL comment.
Go right ahead.
Speaker 5 (20:24):
Yeah, can you guys hear me? Okay?
Speaker 1 (20:25):
We sure, Kate. Hey, we got a phone call right
like that. We love it, Yes, Pete, what's your what's
your opinion on NIL at the high school level?
Speaker 5 (20:33):
Well, you know, the thing is financial literacy is I
don't think it's something that's taught very well at the
high school level. So my fear is that you know,
these kids are gonna get I don't know how much
you know they're getting, So I'm sorry any time to
google that, but you know they're gonna get. If they're
(20:54):
gonna get an obscene amount of money, what are they
gonna do with it? I mean, are they gonna you know,
they're sure they're probably going to get a really nice
sports car, but if they have money left over, I'm
just afraid that I don't know what I want to say.
You know, there's there's professional athletes who who've lost a
lot of money because they trusted the wrong people and
the wrong financial advisors and so forth. So now we're
(21:16):
talking about high schoolers who you know, haven't been as
round long enough as the professional athletes. They they're not
familiar with what goes on. I'm probably going to get
good advice and so forth. But if they get bad advice,
I don't know. I just I think that there has
to be a stipulation. If they're going to get the money,
somebody's got to teach them. They got to teach maybe
some kind of class and a college class on you know,
(21:37):
how to be financially responsible.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
What a really good point on the financial literacy.
Speaker 3 (21:43):
Absolutely, there are new standards, right Pete, that are in
place right now when it comes to financial literacy. But
the amount the volume you get in high school is
still I think it's like one class you're required to
take one class, but we all know it's so much
more than just one class.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
