Speaker 1 (00:03):
All right, Mikayla. We're having our fun at the car show.
We've done this now annually out at the Moose. The
cars look awesome. I haven't actually looked and picked out
my favorite yet of you.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
This blue one right here, which I think I want
to say.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
It looks to be shaped.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Oh no, I'm wrong. I thought it was like a Ford.
Maybe it was a Mustang. But this blue one that
has it's a convertible. It's popped. It's really pretty, very subtle.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
You know.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
I really love a Thunderbird, like a Ford Thunderbird, and
if in my older age I would like to have one.
I think those are beautiful cars and bucket list. Bucket list, yeah,
to have a Thunderbird convertible. So yeah, you guys are
out here, Boots is out here until seven? Is that
about right tonight?

Speaker 1 (00:44):
We convertible?

Speaker 4 (00:45):
No, I haven't.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
My mom had one for a little while.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
I had one. I had LeBaron convertible. I could see
you and oh my gosh, I loved it. And then
I wrecked it.

Speaker 4 (00:53):
Ah.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
That was the with the dog of the Yes with
Guidla convertible. Yes, And I got another one afterwards. But
I think they say there's a little life lesson. It's
a book of life lessons, things that you're supposed to
do once in your life, and that was in there. Yes,
at some point in your life own a convertible, So
I did that.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
You did that already and I'm gonna check it off
to many And I've known each other for a long time,
and I mean, how long have we done this show?
Seven years? Yes, past seven years is a cifix show
for seven years, and you know we've seen ourselves through
a lot of different things. We were broadcasting during COVID,
which was a really difficult time, and you know politics
is hard right like in the world today. But I've

(01:32):
been holding on to this piece of audio for the
last few weeks because I truly feel like Mindy and
I and you've heard me say this, or kind of
a role model in terms of how to do a
relationship when you don't always necessarily see everything.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
I to die now.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
I'm we joke and we can't be moderate, Michayla, because
I'm really into ideas more than one side or the
other typically. But we've had meaningful conversations this last year
with before but without arguing, and I think a lot
of families and friends have had a lot of trouble
this year having conversations if they don't see things the

(02:08):
same way.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
So what does this sound you're going to play us?
So the sound that I'm going to play?

Speaker 2 (02:12):
There was a Ted style talk, and we've all heard
of Ted talks. There was a Ted style talk about
two close friends and how they make it work. And
I feel like we needed to hear this, and so Chris,
if you could play the audio, then we'll talk a
little bit about it.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
And if you want to call in a comment about it,
feel free.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
Said mom. We don't know anybody who voted for Trump?

Speaker 3 (02:40):
Right?

Speaker 4 (02:44):
And I pause, I took a deep breath, Yes we do,
the cause your mondis and his response was so great.
He kind of got this confused look on his space
and he said, but we love them, and I answered,
yes we do. And then he said why wouldn't they

(03:07):
vote for him? And I remember stopping and thinking that
it was really important how I answered this question. Somehow
I had to honor our own family values and show
respect for our friends. So I finally said, I think
that's the.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Right direction for this country. And of course, before I
had even.

Speaker 4 (03:24):
Gotten the whole seton set at my mouth. He had
moved on.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
To the soccer game he was going to play at resas.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
So life with boys. So, what Lauren and I have
discovered through our bipartisan friendship is the possibility that lives
in dialogue. We have chosen to be genuinely curious about
each other's ideas and perspectives, and to be willing to
listen to one another even when we disagree, and by
putting aside our ego and our preconceived ideas, we've opened

(03:50):
ourselves up to limitless learning.

Speaker 4 (03:52):
Let's go back to election night. As the polls were
closing and it became clear that Trump was going to
be our new president. I was ivastated. I was sad,
I was confused, and I'll be honest, I was angry.
And then just before midnight, I received this text message
from Caitlin.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
The text basically says, thinking of you know that it's
tough like from and why.

Speaker 4 (04:17):
They're so easily could have been weeks or months of
awkwardness and unspoken hostility. There was this an offering of
empathy rooted in friendship, and I knew in that moment
that we would make it through this. After the election.
I was taking myself.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
How cool is that?

Speaker 1 (04:35):
And now she loves President Trump and she's going to
vote for him, But you can't vote for him next time,
you know. I wish more people could get along, you know,
and see the good and no matter where you stand,
and not even just politically speaking, but things what we
were talking about. Do you believe in heaven? Do not believe?
You know, that's a big debate too. There are Christians,
there are non Christians. But somehow you got to be

(04:56):
able to get along in this world.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
And I feel as though those two women and their
friendship are a really great example of you have to
know the other person in your life is coming from
a good place and where they are and their values right,
And I just it just really struck me. And I said,
you know, I have a good friend who hasn't.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
Talked to her brother because of the election.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
Because of the election, and it was even pre no
it was right after the election. They were supposed to
have Thanksgiving together and they haven't talked. I need to
give this audio to.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
Turn them right. And I think, and maybe it's just
because more of my friends believe one way and not
another way. But another friend of mine who lives up
in the Toledo area. Her daughters are twins and they'd
go to Kentucky and because of the way of election,
they were conservative and they were supportive of Trump, but
they have friends that won't talk to them anymore. Well,

(05:51):
I think that, and just of what I've witnessed from
my own people in my own life, it seems like
the people who are for Trump, and maybe it's because
he won, are willing to bridge the gap more. I
think there's such a hatred and shops Donald Trump that
they're not even willing to make that bridge that gap.
But maybe it would have been switched around if he
would have lost. It's easier to be a good winner

(06:14):
than it is to be a good loser.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
That is definitely true.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
So that's why I give this person on that tate
that you had credit for being able to put her
barriers down. Obviously, she didn't vote for him, she didn't
believe in him, but she's okay with accepting her friend,
and I think there needs to be more acceptance. I
was just reading this survey that was done and a
lot of this has to do with the hatred of
President Trump for the liberals and forty five percent of

(06:39):
Liberals have poor mental health, and this was done after
the election, compared to nineteen percent of Conservatives who don't
have mental health.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
Because they're camping on the fact that this election that
happened back in November happened.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
Is that the reason why, right, and there's such hatred
for Donald Trump doesn't even matter what he stands for.
Does he stand for men not playing women's sports. There
aren't too many people in this country that oppose that,
but they can't get by the hatred for this man.
So yeah, they're willing to end relationships and friendships and families.
Is it worth it?

Speaker 2 (07:14):
It seems petty? And I know, you know, my parents
are Republican as well, and they're Trump supporters. And does
my mom love everything he does? No, she's upset about
something with medicare right now, but she.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
Still supports him.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
You don't have to like agree with every single thing,
but like people need to have dialogue and talk about
it and make some room for the fact that there
shouldn't be hatred over this because they are good people.
They're good people in your life that you're shutting out.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
Yeah, And it's like I said, is it really worth
it because you gotta get Piet, you got to get
past it. And in politically speaking, you're not going to
have these politicians in office no matter what it is forever.
You could have a friendship forever. So ruin it for
someone and you don't.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Even know a good conversation for us to have, considering
we were talking about life and death today.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
Yeah, alright, this is you can salvage that you don't
have to die according to a friendship. You know what
I mean? Correct, You can still keep that going.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
Hopefully you guys take some of that to heart. This
