Speaker 1 (00:01):
Start off by saying, I am so sorry because I
missed Mikayla's birthday. You know, sometimes our lives get so busy,
crazy and hectic you don't know one end from one end.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Of the other.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
That's a nice way to put it.
Speaker 1 (00:15):
Yeah, I mean, it's been absolutely crazy, but you should
always remember your friend's birthdays. And the weird thing about
it is I didn't see anything on Facebook or anything
about it.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
It was Friday.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
It was Friday.
Speaker 4 (00:29):
Yeah, Friday birthday, which everyone says is the ideal. But
Mindy has been in a you've been zoned in. How
about I put it that way.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
I think you've been zoned No doubt. Life has been crazy.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
We're not talking about yet why it's been crazy, but
it has been crazy for you. I can't wait till
we can talk a little bit about it.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
But oh, we are going to talk about it today.
Oh we are. Yes, that's one of the reasons.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
But the whole big thing too, Before we get to that,
did you have a happy birthday? Did you hear from
someone who you haven't heard from in so many years?
That was a nice surprise that someone out of the
blue remembered. I mean, I feel so guilty because I didn't.
So so you walked in today and said something and
I'm like, oh my gosh, terrible.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
You were not the only really good friend that.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
I didn't hear from my first so sorry.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
But the other one did text me the next day.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
Yeah, I have been I have not seen anything.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
She hasn't seen anything. It's okay.
Speaker 4 (01:24):
No, the one person that I heard from I have
a really good college friend who is a year and
a day older than I am, or no, no, three hundred.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
And sixty four days older than I am. Her birthday
is the next day, and so she lives in Michigan.
She texted me, and it was so good to hear
from her, and then mindy, I didn't text her back.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Now that I think about it, it's.
Speaker 4 (01:46):
Been a whack week birth She texted me, and I
didn't text her back.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
I was like, and I said something about.
Speaker 4 (01:52):
You're always a year older and wiser, and I said
I recognized that her birthday was the next day, but no,
because was that yes was interesting?
Speaker 3 (02:01):
So no, I did not.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
The funny thing is Christian performed at the fair this morning,
and I remember that I texted, how Kristen do this morning?
And She's like, you didn't even text me about my birthday.
I'm sure you're thinking this, but you could ask me
about my.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
I laughed, No, here's here's what I did.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
I laughed because I knew where Mendy's brain was. Like
when you're in it, you're in it. And I didn't
know what was going on, but I did know. I
did know the Cami moved home and I saw the
pile piles of things that went into what three rooms?
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Three did you say?
Speaker 3 (02:33):
Three?
Speaker 1 (02:34):
Almost every room in our house, including my bedroom and
the bathroom and the basement. Like I cannot believe one
person had so much stuff in a teeny apartment on
hitting day. Well, yeah, during her years at Ohio State,
she lived in a dorm the first year, right, and
had this apartment for three years.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
Where were she hiding stuff?
Speaker 2 (02:51):
But it all exploded in my house.
Speaker 4 (02:54):
I didn't know that Kai was home. But now I
had it all together and I came home.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
And the other thing is I'm going to finally.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
Tell everybody because I had put on social media a
while ago when we were looking for because I needed
advice from all of you, our listeners about different lakes
around the state of Ohio, Buckeye Lake, Apple Valley, Kandlewood
Indian Lake.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
Because now that we are in the season of watching
our kids retire from sports, we.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
Have a lot more time on our hands and I'm
going to be very sad when softball season starts up.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
I need something to do. I'm going to need a distraction.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
And we'd been talking about it for several years and
we thought, you know what, now is the time to
do it. We're really going to do this. So we've
been looking for little lake houses, but we have so
many specifics that we need as far as we have
four dogs, so we don't need a lake house that
doesn't have a yard. Nope.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
That was the biggest thing.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
Everyone's like, why who buys a lake house for their dogs?
But the dogs are my fancy family. So we found
this cute little house with a backyard that's already fenced
in in Indian Lake and Mikayla. It has been one
thing after another.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
Are we in? Are we out of contract?
Speaker 1 (03:59):
Are we in a Because it's just been one I
can't believe that buying a house like this has been
such a headache.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
I didn't think it would be this miserable.
Speaker 4 (04:07):
Are you gonna talk to Dixie about this later today
when she's on the show.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
Yeah, because I have some different questions. Mollie is my
real estate agent, because she's my sister. Otherwise first, sure
I would have yeah, but you always got to go
with family first, and poor Mollie. I mean, this has
just been one headache after another. But we are supposed
to close on August eleventh, which means we're gonna be
able to move in. He's gonna let us move in
August tenth. To get up because that's a Sunday. Right
(04:31):
after the show, I'm gonna take off to Indian Lake
and move everything in. Kylin will be home, Camie, We're
all gonna go up together. And so in the process
of that, we have a little dock. Part of this
little house is a little dock. We're getting a pontoon boat.
We have to be a specific sized pontoon that would
fit in this little dock.
Speaker 4 (04:49):
Wait wait, wait, so there's specific sized pontoons.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
I just thought there was like a standard pontoon too.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
Let me tell you something.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
My whole world has been turned upside down, and it's
been one extreme to another with Cammy moving in, looking
at these little Lake houses and making sure everything's done
and ready to go.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
But it looks like.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
I looked at Randy the other day and I said,
we're really doing this, aren't we.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
We're gonna love it. I love Indian Lake.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
When you put into the water, you love the sun.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
And when you buy a boat, you got to test
drive it.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
So we got to spend a couple hours on Indian
Lake test driving this one pontoon.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
It's so much bigger than I thought.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
There's so many coves and islands and all the people
that we've met so far. I cannot wait to be
part of this Indian Lake community.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
You're gonna have so much fun.
Speaker 4 (05:34):
Much my one of my work besties, her mom lives
on Indian Lake. And I think a friend of hers
does not live too far from where you're going, because
we've talked about this and she just goes up on
you know, Friday afternoons, Friday evenings and has a great time.
And all these places you can bounce around to with
your boats.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
An hour drive from here to there.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
That's cool.
Speaker 4 (05:56):
Great.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
So that has been my world. But I am not
going to make any from missing your birthday. I should
never miss your birthday well, and I can guarant damnt
promise that next year. Chris remind me, I am not
going to forget your birthday. I don't care how busy
I am. I don't care if I'm on a boat upside.
Speaker 4 (06:15):
Down, you're gonna invite me on that boat on any al.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
Yeah, that's what's going to happen.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
So how did Kristin do with the fair?
Speaker 4 (06:22):
I think he did great. You know, Marcus and Logan
and him are headed there right now. There are you know,
there are eighty eight counties in Ohio and all these
kids came from nine o'clock to I think about three
o'clock today to do their public speaking. It was communications day,
it was leadership day at the fair for four h
So in about forty five minutes he will find out
if he's I mean, I think the thing that he's
(06:44):
kind of hoping that could happen, but we're not sure
if it will is to be in that top twenty
percent of your category.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
That's a thing that they must recognize. He did great.
Speaker 4 (06:54):
He was loud, no shock there, but they said his
he had a very unique speech because most people are
talking about both sites or like three D printing, and
Christian is teaching people how to dance it right, demons
demonstrating it.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
So, but I will tell you what.
Speaker 4 (07:13):
It has been such a strange weather pattern for the
fair these last two days.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
I mean, this summer has been.
Speaker 4 (07:22):
And you say to yourself why, I mean, we've had
a lot of rain and feet.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
This time of the year. Normally the grass is so
brittle and dry and we're going through drought systems.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
Not now.
Speaker 4 (07:34):
We had a pipe leak at the Bricker where our
agency has our booth, so I was out of the
fair until about ten o'clock last night. That's been part
of my weekend cleaning up. So we water got under
our floor where we have this map of the state
of Ohio, kind of a map of counties, and we
were thanking firefighters by putting stickers on the floor, like
(07:54):
you could go get a sticker and find your home county.
And so we had to bring some of that up.
It got back down today, but just it's wet, it's messy.
Two other agencies had an inch of water all over
their stuff. I feel so much for them. It's just
the rain is causing a lot of pressure on pieces
that are older, right, buildings that are older and they're
doing so much great stuff out.
Speaker 3 (08:15):
Have you been out lately to the Expo Center.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
No, I haven't.
Speaker 4 (08:19):
Oh my gosh, when I went for opening day. It's
amazing the construction. I mean, we've been hearing about it
and there's been news pieces on it. But there's a
real box office at the Cardinal Gate, like a true
box office. You don't walk in under a tent and
show your bag anymore. There are metal detectors, but it's
very open and wide. They've paid it and paved it,
(08:39):
and there's this huge dome that's almost like two times
the size of the short North domes that say Ohio
ExpoCenter and State Fair and I think they light up
at night.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
I mean, mindy, this is going to be impressive once
it's done. I can't wait for you to see it.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
Yeah, that's cool. So we have a lot coming on
this show today. Coside we always give away tickets Kosai
either Kosai after Dark that's the adult style party for Kosai,
but also regular family fourpac tickets too.
Speaker 4 (09:07):
Yeah, and we've got some great stuff going on, including
the Science of ice Cream and unofficial Galaxies continue.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
So Stephen Whidell be in with us.
Speaker 4 (09:14):
Additionally, given real estate and what you're dealing with, there's
a lot to talk about in that area right now.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
Now, I have learned one thing.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
I don't know anybody who has tried to and I
don't know why anybody would do this, try to buy
a house or sell your house without a real estate agent.
I can't imagine because there's so many obstacles that you
have to go through. So we are going to talk
to Dixie of the Dixie of the Lungquistrayalty Group and
Melinda from Fine Designs and Interiors. Melinda wants to talk
(09:42):
about blinds. She said, these are not your mama's blinds anymore.
You can really get new, cool, updated, funky looking and
very fashionable blinds in your home and in your business.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
Or going to have that discussion as well.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
And Dixie wants people to know you hear a lot
of ads right now about cash for your home.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
Yeah you do, don't go down that alley.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
She says, you can get so much more from your
house than just doing that quick, easy cash for your house.
Speaker 4 (10:09):
That's interesting because you know, we've heard both sides of
that story, so I'm curious what she has.
Speaker 3 (10:14):
To say about it.
Speaker 4 (10:15):
We're also going to continue to boomerang conversation about boomerang kids,
given what you've been dealing with, right, Like.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
We're boomerang kids. As far as what do you do
with all this stuff now? Is the best person to
talk to about that? Like do I build a new there?
Someone said, it's a good thing that you got this
little Indian Lake house because you'll have two houses now
to move some of that stuff in.
Speaker 3 (10:36):
I would not want to put any of her stuff
in Indian La.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
It's never to give me space break from all that
stuff that's now in my house.
Speaker 2 (10:44):
I can at least go there and not see any
of this Kimmy joke.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
I can't.
Speaker 4 (10:49):
I can't wait because I actually want to know how
the first week has gone.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
So when I wanted so darn busy, I wonder you
know what I did? And I don't know if you've
ever done this, or if anyone listening has done this.
I went to my very first white party.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
Is that where you wear white? Well?
Speaker 1 (11:04):
I didn't know when I first got that invitation. I'm like,
this is kind of racist. I don't think I want
to go to a party that's just for white people.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
When is that? And what is a white party?
Speaker 3 (11:12):
Can take it. That's not what it was.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
No, so I had to google and I looked it up.
Speaker 1 (11:15):
But well, then the party who was four is an
African American friend of ours.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
I'm like, why would he be having a white party.
But it was where you dress up in white and
everybody at this party were white. It was really cool
to see.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
But I want to save that for a good news
story because it was the reason behind the party. And
if you ever feel you're going through prep in your life,
don't ever give up.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
Wow. Yeah that's a testimony. It is just Yeah, So
that's my good news.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
Okay, we got a lot coming up.
Speaker 4 (11:44):
Hot topics next six one four eight two one WTV
and six one four eight two, one nine eight eight six.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
This is what
