Speaker 1 (00:01):
Back at five point thirty four, many the music came on.
Matt and I were just here chatting. Didn't even realize
it had to put our headphones on. But we're back,
We're back into saddle.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Well, that's what happens when Matt McLaren comes in studio
and music ladies go out to studio right.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
And it's great to be back in the studio. I
was just saying, how I'm gonna make it to the
Dublin Irish Festival this year. Those ladies convinced me I
got to go out and check it out again this year.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
It's like, so up your ass.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Well, you go to so many different festivals, Matt. You
get to go everywhere in the state of Ohio. I'm
sure that festival has to rank one of the best ones.

Speaker 4 (00:35):
It does.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
And now that I know there's whiskey and cheese tastings,
I think it went right to the top.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
I have not done whiskey and cheese together, and you
think I would know. I've done, you know, tastings for
bourbon and things like that, given what I do full time.
But whiskey and cheese definitely one to try. Matt is
in the studio with this fantastic Ohio shirt on. So
for those of you watching on Facebook Live, I've seen
the red version of this, but this is like the
navy blue version and the Ohio flag is like on

(01:02):
the back as a little tag.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
Mindy, how cool is that? Now we're going to have
to leave a couple from a Kayla and me.

Speaker 4 (01:09):
You know, I will.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
I absolutely love sporting Ohio shirts because I love Ohio.
It is the heart of it all. This one has
the pattern of Ohio all acrossed and of course the
state flag.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
It's a good shirt.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
So do you know what company you got it from?

Speaker 4 (01:20):
To let people know about it's a robat shirt.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
How do you spell that?

Speaker 4 (01:24):
I do not know row back.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
I think it might be I've seen it before. We'll
look it up guys before those of you listening. I
think it might be Rob A c K because I've
had it. But yeah, it's a great looking shirt. Mindy's
in myrtle so she's on the go. That's why she's
on the phone today and you're in the studio with
us for the Ohio Chamber of Commerce.

Speaker 5 (01:42):
I am.

Speaker 4 (01:43):
It's great to be here, you know.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
I come in so often we get to talk about
great places to go with the families, great place to
go with friends, Mi, Kayla, Mindy. I'm excited today because
we net to talk about great places to go in
the state of Ohio with your dog.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
And we are all dog lovers. We all have our
own dogs. In fact, I have such a funny story
to tell about one of my own dogs right before
we left Myrtle Beach or North Myrtle Beach, But I'll
wait till the end of the show for that one.
But most of us want to bring our dogs wherever
we go, but we're limited.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
Matt, You're limited, but you're not as limited as you
were before. Many places now across the state want you
to bring your pets, especially under the patios. You have
a lot more options when you're spending the night. Several
airbnbs are dog friendly across the state. But one of
the things I wanted to start with here, I'm excited
to talk about dog friendly places across the state of

(02:32):
Ohio because this is really inspired by an upcoming movie, Superman,
which comes out on July eleventh. The new Superman movie
filmed in the state of Ohio. You'll see scenes from
Cleveland and Cincinnati in it, and where I've seen the
previews and it's like Superman is going to be a hit.
I think Crypto the super Dog, who makes his first
time on the big screen, I think he's going to
steal the show.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Wait, there's there's a dog named Crypto in the New Superman.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
That's right, the New Superman, which was filmed right here
in the state of Ohio. In fact, when you watch it,
you're gonna see the skyline of Cleveland, You're gonna see
Terminal Tower, Progressive Field where the Guardians play is one
of the big fight scenes that's part of the new movie.
And then in Cincinnati, the Cincestanni Museum Center has turned
into the Hall of Justice, all part of the New
Superman movie, of course, starring not only Superman but Crypto
the super Dog.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
So do you think this movie is having kind of
an effect on people as far as opening them up
their businesses to letting more dogs in, because that's one
of the worst sides. I hate to see no dogs allowed.

Speaker 4 (03:31):
Yeah, I don't like to see that either.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
You know, the movie comes out on July eleventh, so
what six days five days from today. I think after
that you're going to start seeing more and more people
like dressing their dog like Crypto. Maybe it might be
a big thing for this Halloween, maybe even dressing them
up and taking them to different patios. But maybe let
me tell you some places where you're not going to
see that no dog sign. In fact, you'll see dogs welcome.
One of my favorites Greaters ice Cream. Greaters is always

(03:54):
prided itself as being pet friendly for the patio, all
of their patios, and if you're like my family this
time of year, that ability to go to the patio
and eat ice cream is just right at the top
of the list, especially on these hot days that we've had,
and taking our dog with us out a leash to
the batio is a great idea.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
I need to take my dogs up to Graters, Mindy.
That's one of the spots I could hit.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Have dogs flavored ice cream, so when you do bring
your dog in, they have their own ice cream cups
that they give out, the cups, the pop cups.

Speaker 4 (04:25):
That's right.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
What else do you have on your list beyond ice cream?

Speaker 3 (04:29):
Matt Yeah, brew Dog of course, the restaurant and brewery,
a few of them around the state and around Central Ohio.
Leash dogs are welcome on the Patio Pen's mechanical company. Right,
it's not just for dates, not just bringing out with friends,
also for bringing you know, man's best friend, You're puppy
with you. I'll bring your dog long to enjoy games,
good vibes and plenty of fun. And then one of
my favorites and actually one that my wife and I

(04:51):
were just at earlier today with our dog state parks.

Speaker 4 (04:53):
We went to alum Creek State Park.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
The dog parks that are in so many of the
different state parks are a great place to take your dog.
All and creeks so wonderful because part of their dog
park is fenced in along the beach. So our puppy
on this hot ninety degree day got to swim in
the water alongside some other friendly puppies that were there
and had a great time at alum Crete State Park.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
Mindy, Hey, Mikayla has news for you, Matt. Tell them, Matt,
where you just were over the weekend, Matt, Mickayla, So
you'll love this.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
And I did not stay here just because you were
coming in McLaren, but and I was looked it up
and it is true, Mindy. We stayed at the Junto
overnight last night. Oh great, and I saw dogs kept
coming into the lobby and the lounge area. And when
we say come together at the junto, they say pets
are included, so you are able to do it. You

(05:40):
can have up to two pets per guest room, up
to seventy pounds apiece, and they really welcome your pet there.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
It's see just another example how you're seeing more and
more businesses welcoming pets. We may even see more of
that after the new Superman movie comes out too, you know, Mindy.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
That made a difference for us choosing what to do
over the fourth of July is well, because we didn't
want to put the dogs. We didn't want to board them.
We felt like we boarded them a couple times, and
we were looking for places to go, but weren't sure where,
and so we didn't end up going too far out
of town. I just needed to talk to Matt to
find out where I could go.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
Maybe just stay exactly, just talk to Matt. He knows. Matt.
I think that there is more of an effort for
Ohio businesses to start allowing dogs.

Speaker 3 (06:23):
I do, and you know where we've seen it baseball games.
In fact, a few nights out of the year you
have Bark in the Park. We talked about how that
big scene was filmed in Superman at the Cleveland Guardians Stadium,
while on September eighth they are doing a Bark in
the Park. Now you have to pay for a ticket
for yourself and they have a lower price ticket for
your dog, but you can take your dog to the
park that day. And it's not just the Cleveland Guardians.

(06:44):
The Columbus Clippers do Puppy Palooza that's on September third,
and the Cincinnati Reds if you can make it to
Cincinnata tomorrow, if you or your dog likes the Reds,
on both July seventh and September eighteenth, they have their
Bark in the Park.

Speaker 4 (06:57):
That is so cool.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
Matt, is there a Is there a place that you've
curated this list for us today? I take it, but
is there a place that dog lovers can go or
are we on the precipice of an idea where you
can list all? It does list all. Now we're going
to go help the dogs can go.

Speaker 4 (07:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
If you go to ahio dot org and type and
dog or dog friendly. That's the state's website. You'll find
a nice list. They have a couple of blocks of places,
or as always, you can follow at Ohio Chamber on
social media and we'll go ahead and post this list
that we talked about today.

Speaker 5 (07:26):
Oh that is fit.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
I always love a social media connection, Mindy. When we
talk about some then it goes up.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
You know. We were talking to Brian Hess of Cattletale
in the first hour and about marketing, and honestly, I
think this is brilliant marketing. People love their pets and
they really do want to include their dogs, especially when
they're going to different places. And if I own a business,
I would definitely allow people with their dogs to come in.

(07:53):
I do think it helps marketing and it makes create
more of a family friendly atmosphere.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
And if you can include the dogs and with what
they're doing, it's that family atmosphere that now goes to
another level. When you see a friendly dog just wagging
his tail. I know everyone in my family smiles. You
get to bet it. It makes the whole experience even better.
Can't get this all the way back to where we started.
I think that's why Greater's ice Cream does their Dog's
Night Out the first Thursday of every month in the summer.
Dogs are always welcome on their patio. But that night,

(08:21):
especially first Thursday night every month in the summer, Dog's
Night out at Greater's ice Cream A howling good time.

Speaker 2 (08:28):
Oh God, to.

Speaker 4 (08:32):
Barking up the right tree.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
There.

Speaker 4 (08:37):
We can keep going all till the tails, all the
tails we have, all the.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
Tails we have. So I have to say this. One
thing about what matters is we are about community and connections,
and we pride ourselves on that. And I love this Mindy.
Matt's wife has texted me the name of the company
and the website of the shirt he is wearing right now.

Speaker 4 (08:58):
She's wonderful sell it.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
So it's r h o b a c k dot com.
R h O b a c k dot com, rowback
dot com. And I'm telling you it's like the most
beautiful material too. I love a good material on a shirt,
and it just looks so classy and modern and at
the same time fun. And then this just beautiful, lightweight material.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
Kayla, You're making me feel great. Maybe I should model
this after the show career, Matt, you look.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
Like a model anyway.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
To me.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
It sounds like the only thing that shirt is missing
is a pall print on it.

Speaker 4 (09:39):
You know, I bet we can send that in as
an idea.

Speaker 1 (09:41):
We might be able to send it in as an idea, Matt,
anything else coming up?

Speaker 4 (09:46):
I know you know budget was just signed.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
Is there anything else you guys are working on over
the chamber that you want us to know about?

Speaker 3 (09:51):
So I'll add in addition to this shirt, there is
a new Ohio the Heart of It All shirt by Homage.
It's a throwback to the original logo because that's what
Homage does so well. So if you're looking for cool
shirts about Ohio, not only this one, but also the
new Ohio the Heart of All shirt from Homage. You've
talked about the budget for the state of Ohio. Very
excited to see the state's investing a little bit more
this year to be able to do the Ohio the

(10:13):
Heart of All marketing campaign to encourage people, to encourage
people to visit, live and work in the state of Ohio.
We are the heart of All and going forward and
be telling even more people that were a great place.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
Matt. I don't think people realize, and maybe you can
remind our listeners. I don't think people realize how many
people come in and out of our state on a
yearly basis, especially in the summertime.

Speaker 3 (10:36):
Yeah, we're The tourism industry is a fifty six billion
dollar industry across the state of Ohio. You're talking about
millions of travelers that come into the state every year,
over forty million hotel room nights. We want to keep
that going up. When we get more people to visit
to Ohio, that's more new money coming into our state.
That's visitors paying tax dollars here. That helps invest in

(10:56):
the infrastructure, invest in Ohio. It's an industry that as
we grow the tourism industy, Tree is able to make
the entire state better and one of my favorite parts
as Ohio keeps adding new companies and needs more workers.
What we've seen is when people come and visit Ohio,
they are more likely to want to live in Ohio.

Speaker 4 (11:13):
In fact, two.

Speaker 3 (11:14):
Thirds of recent movers they first came to their new
hometown as a leisure traveler. A big part of the
reason we want to share Ohio is the heart of
it all and help our economy keep moving forward.

Speaker 1 (11:25):
What a stat two thirds of leeer travelers make the
place they're traveling their new hometown.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
Two thirds of people who recently moved visited that hometown
as a leisure traveler. First, Wow, so you're the nice
way to look at it, or easy way to look
at it is you're likely end up moving to a
place that you've come to see as a visitor before
when you're ready to move.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
Makes so much sense, somebody, Yeah, that makes sense, total sense, absolutely,
And we love our state, you know, from one end
to the other, all eighty eight counties, so much to
do in so many of those counties. People affect the
go out there and do it, really.

Speaker 3 (12:02):
And it's that time a year togo do it. Whether
it's our state parks, our wonderful cities, great sports teams
like our Cleveland Guardians and Cleveland Cincinnati Reds.

Speaker 4 (12:12):
It's just a great state with so much to do.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
I know we've been getting out and enjoying as a family,
and I encourage all of your listeners to get out
and joy our great state also.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
Well, and bring your dog and bring your dog.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
You're all right, mindy, and I love it. So thank
you for reposting this on social We'll look for from
the Ohio Chamber and is it at Ohio Chamber on Instagram?

Speaker 3 (12:29):
Is that right at Ohio Chamber on Instagram and on Facebook.

Speaker 4 (12:32):
Got it?

Speaker 1 (12:33):
And what's the web address in case people want to
hit you up there?

Speaker 4 (12:36):
Sure, Ohio Chamber dot org.

Speaker 1 (12:38):
Always so good to have Matt on Mindy.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
Matt stick around though, because since we're talking about dogs,
I have a story to share with both of you
and our listeners. You guys will die, just die, because
I was dying. I couldn't.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
Okay, he's going to stick around, So after the break
we'll wrap things up with that story. This is what
matters on sixtent WTV.

Speaker 5 (12:57):
In Matt's laughing Mandy appropriately, we've got the Superman theme
song going from Chris.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
I love it.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
Yeah, that would be a good movie. Sounds like a
great movie. Actually, Ready, so this story is hilarious. First
of all, I hope and I always always, we all
do this. We ask people not to bring their dogs
down to the fireworks as place because they freak out,
they run away. And I meant to ask you earlier,
Mikayla if the area shelters there in central Ohio were bombarded,

(13:35):
because if you have lost your dog, and if your
dog's still missing, look at your area shelter because a
lot of times they will pick them up because it
gets so freaked out. You guys know that, right, Yeah,
I was.

Speaker 1 (13:45):
Actually we walked around Boom a little bit when we
were Joe's the other night, and Mindy, we saw some
dogs out there and some of them were like intense
with their owners. I was like, this is just not
the smart play, folks, just not it.

Speaker 2 (13:57):
Not it no exactly. So we know that because one
of our big, tough, strong German shepherds, Striker, hates to
hear any sound like that. I mean so bad that
we were walking. We always take the dogs and walk
behind Western North there's a big area they can just
run and go. Well, one day we were back there
and it was during high school during track season, and

(14:20):
you know a lot of times they start the race
by a gun going off, and the striker heard that
makes a bee line back to our car. When we
finally get back there, we're like, where in the heck
died Striker go? The window was down only halfway. That
dog was so athletic that it jumped through the window
to barricade itself in our car. So he just has
a fear of these things. He's very athletic out of them.

(14:43):
So Anyway, we're walking the dogs and we're again back
behind Western North and we're coming up around our second
loop to toward our car. But as we go up there,
there's one straight car in the parking lot by the
tennis courts. And don't you know, after the fourth you
all hear those stray home fireworks go off, right, you

(15:04):
guys know that, So someone started letting off firecrackers. Striker
hears this and just starts running away from us, and
he goes towards this one lone car in the parking
lot because ours is way ways back there by the
middle school. And I see the guy standing outside a
car talking to someone, and so I know that their
windows down, and I'm thinking, oh no, oh no, oh no,

(15:27):
don't do it, Striker, And I'm not running as fast
as Striker to keep up to him. Next thing I know,
I see my dog, my German shepherd, leap through the
window if this stranger's car, oh my gosh, and barricade
himself for safety. Now imagine you're just there having a
conversation with a guy outside of your car. They probably
just got done playing tennis, and this German shepherd comes

(15:50):
through your window and I hear this guy go oh,
and he gets out of his car. So when he
opens up his door to get out of his car,
my other dogs start getting into their car. I'm finally
caught up to the guy. I'm laughing so hard. Thank goodness.
This guy had such a good sense of humor and
such a good demeanor. And he starts putting out his phony.

(16:13):
He's like, oh, I got to take a picture of this.
My wife's gonna just freak out. And I am laughing
so hard. He looks over at me, he's like, hey,
are you Mindy Dreyer. I'm like, no, I'm Yolanda Harris
Yo where Oh my god. It was so funny. And
then his buddy's like, yeah, you are mindy because I

(16:34):
played softball with your husband years ago and he allst
hit home run. So I was busted. But they were
so nice about it. I just we could not get
the dogs out of this car. Thank goodness that they
were dog lovers or at least night people. But I
just I was I couldn't believe it. I couldn't believe
that they leaped through this window and then the other
dogs got into their car to like barricade themselves They're like, well,

(16:57):
if one goes, we all go.

Speaker 1 (16:58):
We're all gonna go.

Speaker 3 (17:00):
The story, Mindy and the athleticism of your dogs. I
can just see you right there, apologizing, smiling, laughing, pulling
your dogs out of the car.

Speaker 2 (17:07):
Matt exactly.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
Matt has a newer. Would I call this a puppy?
Do you have a newer?

Speaker 4 (17:13):
He is definitely a puppy. Is about five months old.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
How did he do with the fireworks the other night?

Speaker 3 (17:18):
He gets a little scared, so we kept them indoors.
Doesn't do too bad, But I think like most dogs
just would rather be inside when all those fireworks are
going on.

Speaker 1 (17:26):
I mean our dogs were inside, but I will tell
you those street fire crackers, as Mindy was calling them fireworks,
they were barking. They were not happy with what was
going on in the neighborhood.

Speaker 3 (17:38):
Yeah, for a dog, it's got to be a strange evening,
isn't it. I mean, all those noises everyone around outside.

Speaker 2 (17:45):
Right, because we understand what's going on, but they don't.
They really don't. We interviewed a veterinarian the other day
on Spectrum and we talked about those vests. You know
you can buy those thunder vests. He said, they really
do work because they it's like a hug. It's like
they're almost hugging the dog, and so it does make
them feel a little more secure.

Speaker 1 (18:04):
Well, and I've heard of those before, and I was curious.
This was the first time, just like your dog, Matt,
to hear them inside, you know, I was like, I
hope I didn't need to get a thunder vest, and
it didn't get to that extent. But some dogs just
go crazy when they hear it and can't see what's
going on inside the house. So it's a good product.
I've heard a lot about over the past. What did

(18:24):
you do for the fourth math, Matt? We have about
a minute left, and I'm just you always are doing
something fun for the fourth.

Speaker 3 (18:29):
We've had a great weekend. I've got to play a
little golf in Ohio. We had friends and family over
to swim and do a cookout at our place, and
then we watched the Worthington fireworks. You who have a
pretty good view from our backyard, so the neighborhood came
to our house and we watched the new Worthington fireworks.

Speaker 1 (18:43):
Had a great time, Mindy, I think we all had
a good Fourth of July.

Speaker 2 (18:47):
Yeah, yeah, every way around it. It's just such a
great time of the year. And I do love when
people show their patriotism and their love for the.

Speaker 1 (18:54):
USA and Mindy, to answer your question, there were a
lot of flags flying. I feel like in central Ohio, Matt,
do you feel like you saw the same thing in
the inn yards and on doors and you know houses.

Speaker 4 (19:07):
Yeah, I really do.

Speaker 3 (19:08):
This was a very patriotic four it and really the
type of weather you want for the Fourth of July. Hot,
dry and perfect for fireworks. We saw a lot of
people out in a lot of different neighborhoods celebrating Ohio.
And guess what, this time next year, you'll be celebrating
the two hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the United States,
because in twenty twenty sixth, the United States turns two

(19:29):
hundred and fifty years old.

Speaker 1 (19:30):
America.

Speaker 2 (19:31):
I know, I think they're already gearing up for it
now you're already hearing that celebration preview for it. Anyway,
that's a great time Ohio. Yeah, that's right.

Speaker 1 (19:41):
Yeah, we had them on. We had Todd Kleinsmith on
to talk about it. It's been about a month or
two ago. But to Mindy's point, things are really going
to start moving.

Speaker 3 (19:50):
It's great and this starts well just two days ago
started the one year right of the celebrations leading up
to July sixth, twenty twenty six. Maybe I'll have to
come on with Todd and we'll talk about all the
great things at all io is doing to celebrate It
would be amazing.

Speaker 1 (20:02):
Yeah, And I think was it America Ohio to fifty
dot org or I think that is the website or some.

Speaker 4 (20:07):
Of America to fifty Ohio dot org.

Speaker 1 (20:09):
America to fifty Ohio donna org. If you guys want
to check it out. Well, Matt, thank you so much
for being in studio with us. It's always a pleasure
to have.

Speaker 4 (20:17):
You, Mindy.

Speaker 3 (20:18):
And Michaela thanks for having me here. Ohio is the
heart of all talk with you.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
I don't want to make you guys jealous, but we're
getting ready to leave now to go to Captain Jack
for all you can eat seafood buffet down in North
Wortle Beet. Sorry, guys, so that's okay.

Speaker 1 (20:32):
Enjoy every single bit of it, Mindy, since you can't
bring it back with you and that'd be a bad look.

Speaker 2 (20:37):
Okay or bad smell, I.

Speaker 4 (20:39):
Should say no matter.

Speaker 5 (20:42):
Boat.

Speaker 1 (20:43):
Spend some time doing what matters matter
