Speaker 1 (00:06):
All right, four h six. It is Sunday. It's a
Master's Final Sunday.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
And you know what, it was a softball Sunday too,
Mindy Dreyer in the car with us coming back from Pennsylvania.
Speaker 1 (00:18):
Dreyer, how did it go?
Speaker 2 (00:19):
I know already, but I don't know if everyone joining
this hour knows.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
Yeah, it was a battle. We won the first game,
they won the second game. In fact, and talking about
they meaning penn State and Penn State actually run ruled
us yesterday, which that's the first time Ohio State has
ever been run rulled. Of this entire season, we've been
the ones run ruling teams, which means if you are
(00:44):
beating a team by eight runs in the fifth inning,
the game's over, so you run rule then? Is that softball?
Speaker 1 (00:52):
Only they did that to you.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
Guys, They did that to us. Yeah, no, you can
get run rule in baseball. But I don't know what
the exact numbers are.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
I don't know a higher one. But man, that was yesterday.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
They did that to us. Yeah, that's why today he
didn't know what was going to happen, you know what
I mean. But one of the major things, and I
was telling Boots this you know, Reagan, you've met Timmy's roommate, teammate,
one of her best friends, Reagan Milliken.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
Yes, I have. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
She hit three home runs today in this game. Today.
What And that's the only three Buckeye players in the
history of a high state softball has ever done that.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
Only three women have ever done that. And she did
that today.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
Uh huh. That's what's even crazier for her about it.
It's in her home state. She's from Pennsylvania. She's from Pittsburgh,
and so she had a lot of her family there.
I'm going to give her dad crap because her dad
didn't drive to make the game, and like you, two
and a half hours and you could have watched your
daughter make history. You know, I'm gonna give him some
(02:01):
crap for that. But what a tremendous beat. And here's
the thing about this team. Hitting is really difficult and
not everybody can hit all the time, you know. And
right before that, you know, a few games before that,
she was really struggling. But somebody steps up at different
times at different time. Today, Timmy really struggled. She didn't
get a hit today, you know, But you've got to
(02:23):
be able to play defense. Too, because you're not always
going to hit. It's a hard thing, it's a game
of failure, but you can't let it get into your head.
Like today, Cammy made the last out of the games,
a line drive shot that she that she snagged at
the end of the game. So if you have been
worried and concentrating on not getting a hit, who knows
if a ball would have got by her. You know
what I mean? You have to stay focused whether you're
(02:46):
hitting it, killing it or striking out or not getting
on Well, I know you're.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Killing it using your voice.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
I can tell from this phone call already in this
hotline you have been yelling, have you?
Speaker 1 (02:57):
And I can tell you know what.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
I can't even credit yelling this time. I got a
bad dry cough a couple of days ago. It was
so bad and I had no running nose, no anything.
It was just a dry cough. And then like at
w night, my throat like felt like it was on fire,
and I'm like, what the heck? So I couldn't even
yell very much the last two games. So the moms
(03:22):
around me, I've kind of like inspired them to be
my voice because they're normally kind of quiet I'm like,
you guys are going to have to step it up
for me and yell. So they're doing my ball ball ball, they're.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
Doing they're doing that for you.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
Chris said he was watching the game and he's pretty
sure he heard you when Cammy was up to that.
You must be loud enough with the croak in your
in your voice.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
Ask him if that was today, it was yesterday. I
think it was today. It was today because when she
was first stepped up the very first inning, I heard
I heard a very loud Cami, and I was like,
I think I know who that was.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
I hope, I don't know, man, I really to try
to see my voice. But if you guys ever have
that were I can't even blame it on the yelling
because I didn't get to yell that much. But it
was literally a cough came out of nowhere, set my
throat on.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
Fire, CAMMI. I was just almost called mindy Cammy, mindy eye.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
Everybody called me anymore, So funny.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
Just came out.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
So you know what I did recently because I was
feeling coughing and I didn't know what was wrong.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
I thought I had a sinus infection. Actually went to
the doctor.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
I started taking allergy medication at night on a regular basis,
and I don't even have allergies, Mindy. It totally cleared
everything up. I'm wondering if you're having a little bit
of allergies to whatever in the air where.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
You are, well, you know what that could be, that
very well could be.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
And you're like me, you just kind of pushed through
on that kind of stuff.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
I don't think you and I are like big, like
I gotta have ibuprofen.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
Or I gotta have an allergy medication.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
So I broke down and did it before we went
to Georgia to where it has changed some things for me.
I can't believe it took me forty six years to
get here.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
Well that's the thing to know though. Really, I just
kept drinking hot tea at night, and then I couldn't
get any sleep. I'm like, maybe I drank too much tea,
But then the next night I just drite hot water.
I'm like, I'm a hot mess. I am a hot mess. Oh,
you cannot do what it is.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
You cannot be a mid fifties woman and drink that
much tea at night, Mindy.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
I mean I'm mid forties and I can't do.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
It, oh obviously, And I'm like, I wonder why I
even took a unism and I still kept waking up
every two hours. I'm like, what am I doing? Like
you would think at age fifty seven, at some point
in my life I would know better, you know. And
I say that every time I do lose my voice
by yelling at games. Yeah, you would think I would
know better at some point in my life. But this
(05:41):
wasn't even from yelling like to me, it was torture
sitting next to my buddy Jody and having her yell
for me and me not able to join in with her.
You know, that's tortured to me. And then you, Mikayla
had this idiot Penn State guy fan behind us who was, oh, ibnoxious.
What I mean we were They were announcing our lineup.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
Oh don't dreer and what happened And as they.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
Were yelling the announcing their name, he would yell, he sucks,
he sucks to everybody. And then they announced our picture
and he's like, he really sucks. And I'm thinking, dude,
if you're going to be that obnoxious, go sit on
your own side. The way the stadium is divided Ohio
State visitors is on one side, The visitors are on
(06:28):
one side. Home team is on the other. Go sit
on the side, dude, Why are you trying to do this?
But then he had a shut up at the end
of the game because we won.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Yeah, I mean, you're not going to say much more
after that speaking of this kind of behavior. I'm going
to tell you about something that happened yesterday, and I'm
very curious what your opinion will be about it. So
Logan and I went to the CBJ game. They played
the Capitals. Vechkin did not play. He had some big
thing back in DC, so I was excited to see him,
but it turned out I couldn't. So all these Capitals
(06:57):
fans had bought tickets and we had great seats and
we were near a lot of them. And during the
national anthem, when Leo was singing, they would yell red
at the top.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
Of their lungs.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
Why, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
I don't know enough about the Capitals. But and then
they did another word well, and I just kind of
looked around and I'm like, why are we shouting these
two words during the national anthem?
Speaker 1 (07:27):
I didn't feel great about it. I'm gonna be honest.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
Yeah, I don't like that at all. I don't even
know why they would yell that as other team color.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
Yeah they do have red, but then the other word
they yelled was not a color, and so I just thought,
this is not great behavior, guys, and then they got smoked.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
No, you know what, MICHAELA. There's a time and place
to yell your team colors or your team chance. During
the national anthem is not one of those. It made
me realize though. Last week. You know, we played UCLA
and they played the national anthem before every game, and
I didn't even think this was still a thing anymore.
(08:05):
Three of the UCLA players took in me during the
national anthem.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
That's interesting. I have not seen that lately.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
I haven't either, and I didn't even know if it
was still a thing. I am so proud that every
single Buckeye stands tall and proud during the national anthem,
and every other school that we've played so far, they've
all stood and been proud for the national anthem. UCLA
was the only time I saw three different players all
took a knee, and I'm like, oh, I hope we
(08:35):
beat them, so badly, but then they beat us so badly. Well,
it didn't work.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
I mean, you got to respect the anthem. You've got
to yelling whatever.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
You can have your disagreements with the United States of America,
and I fully understand that, but like the anthem is
for all of us, and you can actually go out
there and do more problem solving than making a quote
unquote statement that way.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
I think people look stupid, dumb. That's the national anthem.
I don't care. It is for the United States of America.
Don't disrespect you, though I can't believe that he did that. Yeah,
the same thing with the UCLA girl. That was just dumb.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
Don't do it dumb.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
Like I said, I didn't even think that was a
thing anymore.
Speaker 2 (09:16):
Really, we have old friends in the studio today, Like
all three of our guests are old friends, Mindy, and
you're you're gonna miss him, but I'm glad you're gonna
be on the line with us.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
I'll be on the line with you, guys. I hate
not being in there, especially because one of our old
friends is bringing in old good food.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
Well, yeah, and so Richie of Richie's New York Deli
in Circleville.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
He's not even coming in.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
I mean, I love that he's bringing some snacks, but
he's not even coming in to.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
Talk about food.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
Overalls, he's really made his way into a new journey.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
And I didn't know this until you told me last week.
Speaker 3 (09:57):
Well, he was on the show and we preview what
he was going to try to do. And you know what,
when you're a little older in life and a little
later in life and you want to go out on
the ledge and try something new, take a chance. How
many times have you and I talked about life is
all about taking chances, go for it. And that's what
Richie has done in the acting world, in that difficult
(10:18):
arena of acting.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
But he has such a big personality, so I could
totally see him making this way there. Oh yeah, So
we gonna talk to him about this movie that he
made right right here in Columbus, right.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
Yeah, But he's been doing some other things too, so
he is going to be in the talk about that,
But it'll probably plug his deli as well, you know that.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
Yeah, yeah, And well, like the food is always delicious,
I'm grateful that he's bringing in some snacks. And then
Andy Reinhart, marketing director of Germaine Automotive Partnership. He's coming
in because you know, we know them from their jingle, Mindy,
but it sounds like they've really started an expanded campaign.
Speaker 3 (10:57):
Are you talking about Jermaine?
Speaker 1 (11:00):
Remember the name?
Speaker 2 (11:02):
Yes, I mean how many years has that been around?
But the car going business has changed, and so they're
looking to communicate that. And I think it'd be really
interesting to talk to him to see whe.
Speaker 1 (11:14):
They're up to.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
And you say old Fred, and he really is an
old friend of us personally but also professionally because it
was Andy who really kickstarted the What Matters show. He
was in our corner from the get go, he was.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
It'll be good to see him a hug.
Speaker 2 (11:28):
And then another old friend from Channel four, and she's
bringing a guest along with her, is also going to
join us in the five o'clock hour.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
Yes, we have Aaron talking about a great, great event
that so many people can get involved with. And you
talk about taking a chance in life and doing it
for a really good cause. I don't know, not too
many people would be willing to take this chance and
go over the led.
Speaker 2 (11:53):
I know. So she'll be in and it's for a
really great cause, one that We've talked about a lot
actually here over time on.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
The What Matter show, So lots coming up.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
Mindy's on her drive, I'm in the studio, stick around,
This is What Matters on six' TEN wtv in
