Speaker 1 (00:00):
Real spots.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
On Tuesday, we salute our United States veterans. It is
Veterans Day. And I wanted to end Mikayla or just
at least talked about our veterans. And I found this
little poem. This is my second thing. I'm going to read,
I know, but I don't ever read unless we do
like Santamouse, we'll read Christmas story. Sometimes this is called
(00:28):
legacy of a veteran. You marched with courage, heart and
pride through distant lands so far and wide. You stood
for peace, your duty true. A silent hero, brave and new,
through battles, fought through night and day, you paved us
a safer way. The flag you served now rests with
(00:51):
grace in hearts you touched. You hold a place now sleep,
Dear soldier, rest in light. Your spirit shines through stars
so bright, Forever honored, brave and strong in grateful hearts,
you will live on.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
Right it is and in a reminder for US Veterans
Day is for all veterans.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
We always do this on Memorial Day, all veterans living
and passed and deceased.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
Memorial Days for those who have passed in war. Right,
that's correct. I believe so, or within some kind of conflict.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
I don't know. I think, yeah, look that up, because
I think it's just all veterans. Do you have to
do you have to have been killed in the line
of duty? Or is it just if you served our
nation and are no longer here. That's what we're asking
Mikayla's gonna find out right now.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
Honoring those who died in military service.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
That's Memorial Day.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
Memorial Day? Is that peace officers Memorial Day?
Speaker 2 (01:48):
But what's Veterans Day?
Speaker 3 (01:50):
So veterans is all veterans. That's no matter if you're alive,
if you've passed.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
Okay, So yeah, so thank a veteran this week, you know,
we have the day off for the state of Ohio.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
But I do want to point something out. This is
going to be a day where I point two things out.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
But I have to tell you veterans, sometimes it can
be hard to pair up with.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
The right job once you get out of the military.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
You know, and I'm sure you've probably heard that, Like
there's veteran job fairs and different opportunities.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
So the state.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
Legislature this summer when they passed the budget bill, they
asked for us and.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
The Department of Veteran Services to create a resource.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
For veterans looking for jobs. So we created one and mindy,
it just went up fairly recently, so.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
I wanted to note it. You'll find it.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
It's information for veterans in terms of all the different
benefits that are out there for veterans who are looking
for a job or wanting to make a transition.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
So I just wanted to.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
Note that because I'm thinking about it with this Veteran's
Day to support the veterans in our lives.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
Are your kids off of school for Veterans Day on Tuesday?
Speaker 3 (03:05):
They are not?
Speaker 2 (03:06):
See? Does that bother you? Do you think they should be.
I'm looking this up on Google and says most schools
are closed on Veterans Day as it is a federal holiday,
but closures can vary by state to state and school
district to school district. They close for so many different things.
Why not Veterans Day.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
My take on it is they do a lot of
parent teacher conferences in November. They also didn't take off
Columbus Day, so they don't have.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
Veterans Day off Columbus Day. You used to get off
when I was in school, but I don't know how
long ago.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
I mean in Delaware County, I know that they will
close for the little Brown jug because everyone's so active
and the local.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
You know, I don't know why State of Ohio schools don't.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
Now Cammy, you know, is working at Ohio State in
the Athletic department. She is off on Tuesday.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
Yeah, because she works for the state.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
Technically, I think schools should be closed on Veterans Day.
Who else is more important than our veterans to give
them a day off? I think that's my m a
little wel right.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
Because in terms of supporting them and what they do.
By the way, that poster that I was telling you about,
the Veterans Benefits poster you can get to has many
different things. Veterans Crisis hotline, unemployment benefits, legal services, substance
abuse and mental health treatment programs which veterans can suffer
from a lot at times, right, tax benefits and exemptions.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
There's so much out there. So that is why I
wanted to mention that.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
I agree with that. All Right, anything big.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
Going on for your week other than this play like
every single day we got the plague going on?
Speaker 2 (04:39):
Is he practicing all around house? Like do you sing it.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
We took a hike yesterday at Bettel Darby Metro Park
and we took the dogs with us, and he sang
and danced the whole hike and which everyone everyone was
really annoyed except me.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
I was like, this is just what he's going to
do for the next week. He's practicing.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
Moms would never get annoyed at something like that.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
That's your kid, I know.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
But he sound good.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
Is he's ready. He doesn't have a major part this year.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
Do you know that the songs or anything any of
the boys.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
I mean, it's it's Frozen Junior, which is a version
of Frozen the movie for the same song to the
same song.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
He's a version of Letting Go and all of that. So, yeah,
that's what I'm preparing for this week. How about you?
Speaker 1 (05:16):
Gosh, I can think I got a light week and
her boat is probably getting wrapped and put up, you
know what.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
Yeah, that is supposed to be happening this week. And
then Randy's going to pass out uniforms at Crystal Ray.
I'm so excited to see him be a head coach again.
It is where he belongs. He's such a good mentor
to these kids had to make cuts. Never easy, never
never easy, the hardest part. But it's gonna be really
fun to watch this Crystal Ray team from the beginning
(05:43):
of the season. If they get one win.
Speaker 3 (05:45):
One win, it's not a huge time bead last year.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
Yeah, Randy's the right guy, Mindy, he is here, he
is living in his purpose.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
Has the sports isn't all about wins and losses. It's
about making a difference and being a good role mo
and mentor and learning life lessons. It's all about sports.
You can learn so many lessons along the way, and
he's just the best one to do that for these kids.
So Crystal Christal Ray Cougar's Christa Ray Kuger. I'm official
Cougar baby in more ways than one. I don't know
(06:16):
about that. I'm a Crystal Ray Cougar.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
You guys, enjoy your week like Mendy and I are
hoping to enjoy our week. Thank a veteran, and no
matter what you do this week, spend some time doing
what matters.
