From TODAY, December 14th to February 15th, the federal government is waiving the 5% GST on select products—and here in Ontario, the full HST is waived!
So, what’s included? The tax break covers prepared foods like veggie trays, pre-made meals, sandwiches, restaurant meals (dine-in, takeout, or delivery), and snacks like chips, candy, and granola bars. It also applies to beer, wine, cider, and pre-mixed alcoholic beverages under 7% ABV.
Plus, there’s relief on children’s clothing, footwear, car seats, diapers, toys like board games and video game consoles, certain books and newspapers, and even Christmas trees! Happy saving, Ontario!
