The celebrated Nathaniel Dett Chorale will perform on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. at All Saints Church in Windsor, Ontario, to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Amherstburg Freedom Museum. This special event will raise funds to support the museum's mission to preserve and share African Canadian history, particularly that of the Underground Railroad.
Under the direction of Brainerd Blyden-Taylor, the chorale will perform a moving program featuring African Canadian and African American spirituals, classical pieces, and gospel music. Known for their exceptional artistry, the chorale has garnered international acclaim, including a performance at President Barack Obama’s 2009 inauguration—an honour that further solidified their reputation for excellence.

Tickets for the concert are $40 for general admission and $30 for students, with all proceeds supporting the museum’s educational programs and initiatives. Founded in 1975 and now celebrating its fiftieth anniversary, the Amherstburg Freedom Museum is a community-based, non-profit museum and archive that tells the story of African Canadians’ history and contributions, offering Black history and universal inspiration. The Museum remains a leading voice in the region, dedicated to preserving the rich history of efforts to pursue freedom and justice in Canada.
