Hi Marilyn Denis and Jamar,
My parents were high school sweethearts and stuck it out for 20 years before calling it quits. During their time together my dad stepped out a few times but my mom mostly remembers the good times and the fact that their marriage gave her me and my sibling, which she's super grateful for. She's thinking of the positive experience with my dad & thinking about her wedding ring as a memento of their young love, but for me that ring just reminds me of how things didn't work out between them. Now she's dropping hints to my boyfriend suggesting we use her ring for my engagement. How do I tell my mom that I don't want her ring? Or should I just take it because it's 'the thought that counts'?
Thanks,
Jennifer
