Jennifer Giffin is parent to identical twins, Wesley who is earthside, and Oliver, who died unexpectedly about 12 hours after their birth. She knew she needed to contribute in a new way to the landscape of grief support for people facing this type of loss after her own experience with it. She needed to create lasting, community support networks to reduce the shame, guilt, pain and isolation she felt for everyone else who is dealt these devastating cards. Professionally, she was a Registered Nurse in Oncology for 10 years before pursuing her Masters in Counselling Psychology and Grief and Loss Coaching Certification, both of which she's currently completing so she can have all of the tools to help others who've lost their babies and children.

Jennifer is the Founder of Oliver's Offerings Nonprofit Society, which aims to create containers of community support for bereaved parents to tell their stories and be affirmed and validated in their grief. Oliver's Offerings will be a no-cost, barrier-free weekend retreat where birthing parents will be able to participate in various healing modalities such as art, somatic and written therapies, massage and osteopathy, small and large group therapeutic discussions over delicious and healthy meals and camp fires. She's creating this retreat to continue the love Oliver showed her during his short time with her , and to help others continue to parent and connect with their lost little ones.

She has partnered with the Pregnancy and Infancy Loss Support Centre out of Calgary, a registered charity that provides cost free support to this population as well. To support, attend retreat or find out more about Oliver's Offerings, please visit www.oliversofferings.ca .

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
