Speaker 1 (00:08):
Good afternoon. I hope that you are having a great
day in Jesus. I hope that your day is going
the best that it possibly can. Right, some of us
may have woken up today and we're having a very
bad day. I want to encourage you with Philippians chapter four,
specifically verses four to seven. Believe it or not, God
(00:31):
wants you to do something, and here's what he wants
you to do today. Rejoice in the Lord always. Philippians four,
verse four says again, I will say rejoice. All right,
let's stop there, Paul, Are you crazy? What are you
talking about? Rejoicing the Lord always? Rejoice? It's hard to
(00:51):
rejoice today because I'm having a bad day. My day
started off pretty rough. I received some news today that
I didn't want to receive. All of us, I'm sure
have days like that. We wake up, things are falling
in our house. It just seems like everything is going south.
Just having a bad day, stressful day. You know. One
(01:15):
of the unique blessings that belong to the children of
God is that because of who we are in Christ,
we are the righteousness of Christ. And because of that,
because we have been saved, because we have been redeemed,
because we have been forgiven, because we have been added
to the priesthood of God, because we have died with Christ,
because we have been made alive with Christ, because we
(01:35):
have been transferred from the kingdom of darkness into the
Kingdom of Light, because we received eternal life. I go
on wrong because of so many things. God says we
can be people who rejoice, and that's what we're supposed
to be, people who rejoice in all circumstances. It's easy
to read that in the Bible, and it's easy to
(01:57):
want to be like that, but sometimes it's horrid to
be what we read. Right James, in his letter, he says,
don't just be a hero of the word. Don't just
read what's on the paper that I'm writing to you,
actually do what God wants us to do. And one
of the things he wants you to do today, one
of the things that he wants me to do today
is rejoice always again, I will say rejoice. So I
(02:20):
want to encourage you to rejoice no matter what's going
on today in your life. Rejoice. That's number one. First
thing that I want to encourage you with is God
wants you to rejoice in the Lord, no matter what
you're going through. Okay. Number two. In verse five, he says,
let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord
(02:42):
is at hand. Are you a gentle person? Maybe you're
a little feisty, Maybe you have days where your temper
gets the best to you. God wants you to trust
in Him, to learn more about Him, to grow into
a deeper relationship with Him, to grow into this gentleness,
(03:05):
which is a feu of the Holy Spirit. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness,
and self control. God wants us to be gentle people,
so he wants us to rejoice. He wants us to
be gentle people. He wants our gentleness to be known
to the rest of the world because when we do that,
we reflect our heavenly Father. When we are gentle people,
(03:26):
we reflect our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. And he
wants us to remember that the Lord is at hand.
The day of the Lord is at hand. It could
be at any day, anytime, rapture could happen. Boom, and
there he is. And you know what. In first John says,
some believers will be ashamed at his coming, believe it
or not. Some believers will be ashamed when Jesus returns.
(03:47):
Why could be many reasons? Number one, well, I think
I think it's could be one big reason. They're living
in sin as Christians. That is not well, and we
have died to that way of living. That is not
who we are anymore. We are new in Christ. So
rejoice in the Lord. Let our gentleness be known to
(04:09):
all people. The Lord's at hand. Then verse six, be
anxious for nothing. All right, stop there, be anxious for nothing.
Don't worry about anything. That sounds crazy, doesn't it When
you read this scripture. It's not Gary Johnson telling you this.
(04:34):
It's really God telling you this. Don't worry about a
single thing that is happening in your life. Why Because
I am God. I am already in the future whatever
you're dealing with. Here's what you need to do. Don't
worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication
(04:56):
with thanksgiving. Okay, three things. Prayer, supplication, thanksgiving. Let me
say that again. Prayer, supplication, and thanksgiving. Okay. We all
know what prayer is. It is talking to our heavenly Father,
letting our requests be made known to him. We pour
(05:17):
our heart out to God. We talk to God supplication.
What does that work mean in the Bible. An easy
way to understand that word you could use a synonym,
a different word for that. It's appealing to God. It's
the action of asking or begging for something earnestly, but
in humility. May we always humble ourselves before God, realizing
(05:39):
that what we have today is because of God, and
what we're asking God for only can come from His hand.
We must remain humble, says Butt In everything by prayer
and supplication, with thanksgiving, thanksgivings right around the corner right,
I want you to think about the things that you
were thankful for. I want you to assess your life
(06:02):
and think of the things that you are thankful for.
And when you pray to God whatever you're going through today,
remember to be thankful. Remember to have a thankful heart
and a thankful spirit for what He has done for you.
Let your request be made known to God is what
the scripture says verse six. So prayer, supplication, and thanksgiving
(06:25):
through those three things, let your request be made known
to God. And the peace of God verse seven, which
surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds
through Christ and Jesus. When you pray and humility and earnestly,
(06:49):
while also being thankful, the peace of God, which surpasses
all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ. Jesus,
I tell you what. And Ephesians chapter two it says,
specifically verses eleven to eighteen, says that Jesus has come
(07:13):
and he has tore down the dividing wall of hostility
that existed between the Jews and the Gentiles. He is
our peace. Jesus is our peace. Therefore, when you pray,
you pray in Jesus. You pray in the spirits. You
pray in the spirit that in dwells you. You pray
(07:37):
in the spirit that is the Holy Spirit. And you
pray in the same spirit that is of the Trinity,
the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. When you pray
this way, through prayer, supplication, and thanksgiving, there will be
peace that will come upon you. So rejoice in the Lord. Always,
(07:59):
as crazy as it sounds, rejoice, Remember who's writing this.
This is the apostle Paul, and he's he's been locked up.
So this is the guy who's been mistreated. If you
live in America and you're a Christian, I'm gonna say,
you got it made because there's not a lot of
real persecution, physical persecution for us as Christians, and thank
(08:20):
God for that. I continue to pray that that freedom
is given to us and that He will protect that.
But let's never forget our brothers and sisters on the
other side of the world in different places who are
being physically persecuted for their faith, all because they love
Jesus and because they're living out their faith. Maybe keep
(08:42):
them in our prayers. But Lord help us. May the
Lord help us to do his will by rejoicing in
him always. This is this comes from God. He wants
us to rejoice in Him. He wants us to be gentle,
(09:02):
and he doesn't want us to worry about anything. So
I pray that if you have something that is on
your heart today, that is causing you anxiety, that is
eating you up, that you will hand it over to
the Lord. One Peter chapter five, verse seven to eight says,
cast your anxieties upon him because he cares for you.
(09:23):
God is God. He is bigger than what you're going through.
Always remember that and always give Him thanks. I hope
this is encouraging to you. May God bless you
