(00:23):
Thank you for taking the time outof your day to come listen to a
message from me. This is oneforgiven ministries exalting truth no matter of the
cost. I sincerely hope that you'rehaving a blessed day. I hope that
your day's going well. If you'verun into any trials and tribulations today,
know that you're not the only one. As Christians and even people who aren't

(00:44):
Christians, we all go through life. We go through it together, and
some of us are at good pointsin our life and others are at bad
points. Regardless, at the endof the day, whether you're a believer
or not, Jesus remains here foryou. The good news that the world
has is that Jesus is for usand he's not against us. I hope

(01:08):
that you're having a blessed day.If not, you're in my heart,
You're in my mind, and Ijust I want to encourage you with a
message from God's word this morning. In my personal studies, right now,
I am in Romans chapter three.I'm also reading in the Old Testament as
well, but today it's Romans chapterthree. And what Paul does the apostle

(01:30):
Paul, he opens up and says, are Jews better than non Jewish people?
The term he uses is gentiles, and his point here talking to his
Jewish audience, is no, weare not better than non Jewish people.
If you know anything about Jewish people, about the Israelites, they are God's

(01:53):
chosen people, and God has usedthem throughout history, and there will come
a time where Jews will eventually cometo Jesus. There is a remnant not
to get into that. But Romanschapter three opens up asking the question,
what advantage then, has the jewor what prophet of circumcision? Much?
In every way? Chiefly because ofthem were committed the oracles of God.

(02:17):
The oracles of God were given tothe Jewish people for what if some did
not believe? Will their unbelief makethe faithfulness of God without effect? Certainly
not? Indeed, let them letGod be true? But every man a
liar anyway. You may be thinking, what's that even mean? There's a
context here, and the point ofthis episode is not going not going to

(02:38):
the nitty gritty details of Romans chapterthree, rather just tell you what the
apostle Paul's point is. You know, at the end of the day,
I want to make sure that mylife is being founded upon the word of
God, and I hope that's thecase for you. Back in Matthew chapter
four, when Satan tempted Jesus, what did What did Jesus do in front
of Satan? Jesus told saying thatman does not live on bread alone,

(03:02):
but by every word that proceeds outof the mouth of God. That's what
man lives on. Yes, physicalfood is important, but our spiritual food
is important as well. What webuild our life upon, the decisions that
I make, the decisions that youmake. It's so important. No,
we're not perfect, but yet thatmatter still matters. The question how is

(03:25):
a person made right with God?Now, there are different churches who believe
different things. There are different churcheswho have different ideas of this subject matter.
And what my goal is in thislife is to understand what God's word
said, what's what God has donefor you and me, and to understand

(03:49):
that in its fullness, in itsfullness. So how we understand the word
of God is important, but howwe understand how we're saved and how we're
kept saying that's just as important.Yes, our physical food is important,
but our spiritual food and our understandingof how a person is saved is just
as important anyway. Roumis Chapter three, Paul says in verse nine, are

(04:13):
we better than they? He saysto the Jews, are we better than
non Jewish people? Not at all, for we have previously charged both Jews
and Greeks that they are all undersin. The fact of the matter is
we've all screwed up. We haveall messed up somewhere in this life that
has disqualified us from entering into thegates of heaven, to entering into God's

(04:34):
kingdom through our good works in anyshape or form. Now why do I
say that? Let's continue to read. In verse nineteen of chapter three,
Paul says, now we know thatwhatever the law says, it says to
those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and

(04:55):
all the world may become guilty beforeGod. Therefore, verse twenty, by
the deeds of the law, noflesh will be justified in his sight.
That's God's sight, for by thelaw is the knowledge of sin. So
this is really important here. Let'sstop here and dissect this before we go

(05:16):
any further. The apostle Paul iscrystal clear no one by the deeds of
the law will be justified at allperiod, because why the law. The
only purpose of the law is tobring us to the knowledge of our sin.

(05:39):
When God gives us the commandments. When God gave the Israelites to commandments
to love your neighbor, don't steal, don't commit adultery, don't murder,
the whole nine yards, or Icould say the whole ten yards. When
he gave those to us, hewas not giving them to us for us
to rely on our obedience of keepingthat law in order to get us right

(06:00):
with God. Because if that's thecase, we've got it all wrong.
James, Chapter two, verse ten. James says, if we fail in
one area of the law, wefail the whole thing. The point here
is that people cannot get right withGod by keeping his commandments. Contrary to

(06:21):
what you may have heard in churchon Sunday, or maybe you've heard this
in the past, you cannot getright with God by keeping commandments period.
In any way, shape or form. Your obedience your command keeping, your
ability to do that is not inany way mixed with your justification before God.

(06:45):
Make that crystal clear. Why isthat? Because all of us have
sinned and fallen in short of theglory of God. The point here is
that when we sin the first time, the fact that all of us have
sins in our life, that justus. There's no more hope for us
in that matter of getting right withGod. In that pathway of getting right
with God by doing good deeds ortrying to be perfect, or trying to

(07:09):
be you know, one hundred percentgood, ninety percent good, whatever,
that pathway is no use to us. There's no hope in that. Paul
continues, even excuse me, hesays, being witnessed by the Law and
the prophets verse twenty one. Actuallyback up, yeah, verse twenty one.

(07:30):
But now the righteousness of God apartfrom the law. Hear that the
righteousness of God apart from the lawis revealed. There is something apart from
the law that is God's righteousness, and that's what we need to be looking
towards. We're not to be lookingto the law for righteousness because it doesn't
provide us that it doesn't bring usrighteousness. Paul continues, being witnessed by

(07:54):
the Law and the prophets, eventhe righteousness of God through faith in Jesus
Christ, to all on who believe, for there is no difference, for
all have sinned and fall short ofthe glory of God, being justified freely
by His grace through the redemption thatis in Christ Jesus. So there is

(08:16):
a righteousness of God that is completelyapart from the Mosaic law. Many people
think that they're going to get intoheaven because they're good people. The truth
is, in terms of getting rightwith God, in terms of going to
heaven, they are not good people. Why because they have sin in their
life. That applies to me,that applies to you, that applies to
everybody. There's a righteousness of Godthat is separate from the law. The

(08:39):
law does us no good in gettingus right with God. The law does
us no good and keeping up savedbefore God even after we become a Christian.
The point here is that the righteousnessof God is found in Jesus Christ
alone, and all we can dois rely on him literally. By paying

(09:00):
the penalty of their sin. Throughhis death of our sins, Jesus can
free people from our sins and transferhis righteousness to everyone who believes. We
have to understand this. We can'tdo anything, We cannot contribute anything to

(09:22):
our justification before God. In versetwenty four Romans chapter three says, being
justified freely by His grace through theredemption that is in Christ Jesus. One
thing about being justified before God isit's free. We don't have to pay
for it. No, this isnot cheap grace, as many people would

(09:43):
say, because it wasn't cheap forJesus. Yeah, you better believe it's
cheap for us, and you betterhope that that's the case, because if
it's not, we have nothing topay God. We don't have enough money,
we don't have enough good works topay God back for our sinful condition.
But thankfully we don't have to worryabout that. Why Because Romans Force

(10:03):
comes up later on something we willread more extensively in the future. But
being justified freely by His grace itis a free gift. Eternal life is
free to everyone who places their faithin Jesus Christ. Yes, obedience to
God is vital and important, andthrough it comes blessings. Disobedience is vital

(10:26):
to understand. It's important to understand, and by disobeying, consequences will come
from that period lo or baptism.Submitting to that is vital that's important.
That any command from God for usto do is important. It's vital for
us to obey and not put off. But if we are relying on any

(10:50):
of these things, anything that wedo to have any contribution to our salvation,
there is no hope for us,because it's all of Jesus from start
to finish. It is my convictionthat there's a difference between being a child
of God and a disciple of God. There are those two distinctions that the

(11:11):
scriptures lay out that I see Romanschapter four, and I am well aware
of James chapter two, something we'lltalk about as well. And there's three
different views of that scripture that saysfaith and works go together, but the
context means everything. I'll throw thatout there. Romans chapter four, concerning

(11:33):
Abraham, how was he justified?Paul says Abraham was. Abraham believed God,
and it was counted to him forrighteousness period. Works were not in
the picture before God. Abraham wasjustified by faith alone. And he goes
on Romans four to four. Nowto him who works, the wages are
not counting his grace but as adebt. But to him who does not

(11:56):
work but believes on him who justifiesthe young God. The his faith is
accounted for righteousness. No works inthe picture when it comes to justification at
all. All Abraham did was trustingin God, trusting in the Lord,
and he was saved period. That'show he became righteous. Faith alone and
Christ alone. That is Paul's pointhere. There were no works in the

(12:18):
picture at all, no water, baptism, no prayer service, no attendance
for a church service whatever. Abrahamwas justified by faith alone. That is
how we are justified today. Andit's important to understand that, completely important

(12:39):
to understand that. I hope thatmakes sense to you. In order to
be saved by grace, there cannotbe works in the picture. Romans eleven,
verse six and Ephesians chapter two.More than once, Paul says to
the Ephesian church, you have beensaved by grace. He says that twice,
and then he goes into verse eightsays it, for we have been
saved by grace through faith. Thisis none of yourselves. It's a gift

(13:01):
from God, not of works, lest any man should boast. Period.
Works and grace cannot mix together. However, works should follow. After we
are saved. We are to obeyGod after we are saved because we are
Jesus's workmanship, created in Christ,Jesus for good works. So if you

(13:22):
see someone in need today, legitimatelyin need, help them and give the
glory to God. But don't bankyour salvation upon your obedience to that good
work that you do or lack thereof. Even if you don't rely on Jesus
alone, but know that God willhold us accountable for every single decision we

(13:43):
make or lack thereop. I hopethat this is important to you. I
hope that this is a blessing toyou. You are saved by grace through
faith alone, in Christ alone, period. The righteousness of God is Jesus
Christ, and it's found apart fromthe law. All have sinned and fall
in short of the glory of God, and we will continue to mess up
throughout our lives. I hope thatthat is encouraging to you. Those facts,

(14:05):
not that we're gonna fall short.I hate that fact, but that
is just the case. We mustrely on a holy God each and every
day. We must rely on hisgrace. If you fall in today,
pick yourself back up by God's grace. Don't let Satan get in your mind
and make you believe that you've donemessed it all up. You can't turn

(14:26):
around, you can't turn back tothe Lord. Turn back to the Lord
right now, pick yourself up byhis grace, realizing you don't deserve it.
You'll never deserve it. None ofus deserve it and will never deserve
it. That's why Jesus is sogood to us. Eternal life is free.
And if you haven't received that byplacing your faith in Jesus Christ to
day, I hope that you will, and I hope that you have a
blessed day until next time. Godbless
