(00:21):
I hope that you are having thebest day of your life. I want
to start out sharing a scripture withyou. It's a powerful scripture. Psalm
one hundred and thirty nine, verseseventeen to eighteen says this, How precious
are your thoughts concerning me? OhGod, how vast and number they are.
If I try to count them, there would be more of them than
(00:42):
there are grains of sand. WhenI wake up, I am still with
you. Isn't that encouraging to knowthat as a child of God, if
you have been born again through faithin Jesus Christ, who is at working
you all the great thoughts that Godhas about you. I want to share
(01:03):
with you some startling statistics, andI've shared these from behind the pulpit before.
According to the National Science Foundation, eighty percent of our thoughts are negative
and ninety five percent of our thoughtsare repetitive. That is a lot of
negative, repetitive thoughts. If youwere to ask yourself, how often do
(01:30):
you think good thoughts about yourself?Well, if you're like me, sometimes
I don't have good thoughts about myself. Sometimes I have thoughts that of doubt.
Why God, why do you wantto use me? How can you
say this about me? How canyou say that you love me in light
(01:53):
of my imperfections? In light ofwho you are? How can you say
you love me? Have you everthought those thoughts about you? How about
yourself? Have you ever let yourpast rob you of the joy that is
rightfully yours in Christ Today? Thethoughts that God thinks of you matter.
(02:19):
Regardless of whatever you think about yourself, you need to remember that your heavenly
Father has his own thoughts about you, and the thoughts that he thinks about
you are good. You know thescripture John three point sixteen. For God
so loved the world he gave hisonly begotten son, that whoever believes in
(02:40):
him will not perish but have everlastinglife. God loves you, and he
has shown that, and He's provedthat at the Cross, even when you
were against him. That's how muchGod loves you. But what I want
to touch on is the fact thatthe thoughts that we think throughout the day
(03:02):
matter. I've talked about this multipletimes within the church because it's important.
It's important to remember the thoughts thatwe think will impact how our day or
how we experience our day to daylife. Philippians, chapter four, verse
eight. Four to excuse me,Philippians, chapter four, verse eight,
(03:25):
The apostle Paul says this, finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever
is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely,
whatever is commendable, if there isany excellence, if there is anything worthy
of praise, think about these things. Now here's a little self examination time.
(03:51):
How long or how often can yousay that you think thoughts that are
honorable, that are pure, thatare lovely, that are commendable. Maybe
you do, and that's wonderful ifyou do, keep thinking those thoughts.
But if you're like many people, you think negative thoughts. Let's back up
(04:14):
to verse six. In the samechapter of Philippians. Philippians, chapter four,
verse six, Paul says, donot be anxious about anything. Wow,
that's a crazy thing to say.Right this week, I've been tempted
to worry. Maybe you have two. But do you know what God says?
God says, don't be anxious aboutanything, but in everything, by
(04:40):
prayer and supplication with thanksgiving. Makesure to give thanks to God. Let
your request be made known to God. It's so important to remember what the
scriptures say in your day to daylife that requires you to grow in your
relationship with the Lord Me through studyinghis word. No, you don't have
(05:01):
to know it all, but theHoly Spirit will have a better opportunity to
remind you of the words of yourheavenly Father if you do study the scriptures.
I want to share with you anotherscripture, Romans twelve, verse twelve.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal
(05:26):
of your mind, that by testingyou may discern what is the will of
God, what is good and acceptableand perfect. Paul says, don't be
conformed to this world. Matthew.Chapter six, Jesus goes in to saying,
long story short, I thought aboutgoing into the whole chapter, but
I'm not going to. He says, don't be like the unbelievers of the
(05:50):
world. Don't be like the gentileswho worry about everything. Here's what you
need to focus on. So ifyou're listening, listen carefully right now.
Here is what you need to focuson today. Jesus says, seek God's
kingdom first, and all of thenecessities of life, such as food,
(06:13):
clothing. God will take care ofyou. That is from the very mouth
of the son of God, andGod, who does not lie, will
stick to his promises. So rememberingthat the thoughts that we think circling back
(06:34):
to the thoughts that we think aboutour selves matter. God loves you so
much that he looks past your imperfections. He looks past those negative thoughts that
you think about yourself, and whatHe wants you to do is thinking,
(06:55):
is to think positive thoughts. Onthe days where you are anxious. You
need to remember Philippians chapter four, verse eight. To think thoughts of that
are good. You need to rememberMatthew chapter six, where Jesus says,
don't worry about anything. Just keepyour eyes on me, keep your eyes
on God, and let me takecare of it all for you. Yes,
(07:15):
you can't see the future, butI'm already there. Sometimes it's hard
to train our thoughts to consistently itconstantly be good to think good thoughts.
That could be a hard thing todo. But as a Christian myself and
as a Christian I hope that youare you who are listening today, you
(07:38):
need to think positive thoughts. RememberRomans eight one. There is no condemnation
for those who were in Christ.Jesus, you were on God's side.
Don't be like those who have nofaith in God, who have no hope
in this life, think negative thoughts. Don't be the Christian that comes to
(08:03):
church on Sunday and has nothing todo with God throughout the week. And
you wonder why your life is sochaotic. The thoughts that you think about
yourself matter again Psalm one thirty nine, seventeen to eighteen. How precious are
your thoughts concerning me? Oh God, there's also a scripture. I don't
(08:28):
have the book, chapter and versein front of me, but how God
says, Oh how my thoughts aredifferent than yours, and oh how my
ways are different than yours, Howhigh my thoughts are compared to yours.
God thinks differently than we do.That's why sometimes when I see, you
(08:50):
know, people debating over whether evolutionis true versus creationism. You know,
when the earth started, was therea big bang in the whole nine yards?
You know, regardless of where youend up on that side of the
argument of that debate, you know, I wonder what God thinks. You
(09:11):
know, how you can just lookat everything, and you know you think
that all of this happened for nothing, for no reason, for no purpose.
Anyways, not to get into thatdiscussion today. The thoughts that you
think about yourself matter. If youare someone who struggles with depression, I
want you to ask yourself, whatthoughts do you think throughout the day.
(09:33):
If you're someone who struggles with anger, with being angry all the time,
with experiencing angry emotions or sad emotions, I want you to think to yourself,
what thoughts are racing through your head? You know, I just I
did a series a couple months agoor for the past two months on the
spiritual armor of God that he providesus in Ephesians chapter six, and we
(09:56):
and what we did, myself andthe church. We analyzed each component of
the spiritual armor that God gives us. And the helmet of salvation was the
first piece of armor that I preachedabout. The helmet of salvation. Number
one, you are assured of yoursalvation because of what Christ has done for
you, and because of that, you can be assured that you can endure
(10:20):
this battle. But the helmet ofsalvation is all about protecting your mind,
protecting the inner you, the heart, mind, and soul of you,
and how you live your day today Life's one thing that Satan is so
great at doing is getting Christians tothink negative thoughts, and that affects the
joy that is rightfully theirs. Soif you take anything away from this podcast
(10:41):
episode today, I want you totake away the fact that God thinks wonderful
thoughts concerning you. He doesn't lookat you through the lenses of your good
works. He doesn't look at youthrough the lenses of anything else other than
the blood of His son Jesus Christand what he accomplished for you and for
(11:03):
me. Praise God, Amen.He who knew no sin became sin for
us so that we might become therighteousness of God. What a wonderful gift,
What a wonderful way to show usthat He loves us. So I
want to talk to those for asecond who are not a part of the
(11:26):
body of Christ. I have aboutthree and a half minutes left. These
are fifteen minute podcast episodes. Iwant you to look at where you're at
in your life, and I wantyou to ask yourself, are you happy
with where you're at? If youhave any addictions that you're struggling with,
Hey, don't beat yourself up.This is the real world and that is
(11:48):
why you need a savior. Ineed a savior. All of us do.
We all need grace. Jesus invitesevery single person who has breath on
this planet to come to him asthey are. You don't have to fix
anything before you come to Jesus.Yes, you need to recognize that you've
(12:11):
messed up. We all have messedup, and you need to recognize that
you can't do it. You can'tget yourself right with God. You need
to come to the cross. Thesymbol of the cross represents selflessness, self
denial. What I mean by thatwhen I say that Jesus denied himself,
(12:33):
Jesus willfully put himself on the crossfor you, personally for you. If
it were just for you, hewould have done it. He would have
been nailed to the cross, hewould have went through that scourging that he
went through. He would have carriedhis cross for you. So, if
(12:54):
you are not saved today, Iwant you to go to Jesus in faith
to him. Yes, you cansay a prayer. That prayer does not
save you. Jesus saves you andit's through your faith in Him that saves
you. But if you'd like toutilize a prayer to connect with Jesus.
(13:18):
Feel free to do that. Goto Jesus in faith wholeheartedly, believing who
he is and what He's done foryou. And God says you will be
saved one hundred percent. You areeternally secure. And then after that,
the Holy Spirit he's planted within yourheart and he's going to convict you,
(13:39):
and he's going to want you tolive a life that is for your savior.
And that may come in different differentways, but you are a child
of God. Now you have beenredeemed. If you place your faith in
Jesus Christ, realize on what He'sdone for you. He died for you,
(14:01):
He's buried for you, he roseagain on the third Day. For
you. Without the resurrection, thereis no hope. Because He lives,
You live too. Now. Iwant you to embrace that. I want
you to really believe that, andlet that truth ignite a fire within your
heart. Go out into the world, spread the gospel, make a difference.
That's what this world needs. Ihope that this has been encouraging to
(14:24):
you. And if you have,if you are out of fellowship right now,
confess your sin to the Lord.He always forgives, and he will
restore you. Back to that fellowship. I hope that you think good thoughts
about yourself today, and that youcontinue to do so on endto eternity,
until next time, God bless
