Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's Bowen Megan in the morning.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
I'm one O six nine the Eagle, and we are
so excited to have our friends from United Way of
cast Clay and Corwen in here.
Speaker 1 (00:07):
We have brand and Christina and welcome. Good morning everybody.
Good morning.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
Well we are so happy because last time we talked
to you, we were just kicking off the United Way
school supply drive and mote Christina, why don't you tell
us a little bit about it and how it's going.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
So each year, United Way brings the community together to
make sure that thousands of kids have backpacks and school
supplies ready to go for the first day of school.
All those kids in need want to make sure they
have what they need to succeed for school. We do
this every year.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
And okay, so how many backpacks are you looking to fill?
Speaker 1 (00:37):
Are you looking to give away? Because I know what's
happening soon.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
It is this week we're going to be getting the
backpacks into the hands of kiddos in our community. Our
goal this year was six thousand, five hundred backpacks, so
we are very very close to reaching that goal. We've
got volunteers that are actually working right up at the
Fargo Dome this morning. But six thousand, five hundred kids
is our goal.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
We love that and one of the things that is
helping make it possible this year actually is Corwin and Rant.
You guys decided to team up and you are actually
matching these gifts that people have donated. Why don't you
tell us a little bit about why behind that, but
also what.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
The goal was?
Speaker 4 (01:11):
Yeah? Absolutely, I mean the why is pretty easy for us.
You know, we're a fourth generation family car dealership. We've
kind of intertwined ourselves into this community for many many
years and the community has given us so much, and
so we feel like it's kind of our duty to
give back to some of these awesome causes and you know,
preparing the next generation. I mean, what could be a
better cause than that? You know, getting the necessary supplies
into these kiddos' hands to make sure that they have
(01:33):
a great year of learning and growing is just something
that is so fun to be a part of. So
we're super excited for it again.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
And you decided to match this year up to what
was the goal again this year?
Speaker 4 (01:45):
Yeah, the match kind of a part of the sixty
five hundred total backpacks we're matching up to forty thousand dollars.
Any dollar that is that is donated, we're matching it.
So I'm super excited to hear where we ended up at.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
Well, Christina, that's where you come in. Where are we at.
Speaker 3 (01:57):
It was so cool to see every time we sent
out communication inspiring the community to give and say hey
you can give. Corwen will take that one backpack and
make it too. It was so cool to see how
those donations roll in and be inspired by Corwen's match.
And I'm here to say that.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
We made it.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
We got to that courting kay awesome.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
The community really stepped forward for this match, and Corwin
just provides that inspiration and that heart behind it, and
it really motivates people to give, which is what a beautiful,
wonderful partnership that we have.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
Looking forward to all those kiddos, like the smiles that
are on their face when they get those backpacks.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
Right, It's so fun.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
And you know what, I have to tell a quick story.
I was visiting with someone in his late twenties who
remembers as a middle schooler getting a backpack. He lives
here in this community, and he talked about the confidence
it gave him and just fitting in, fitting in with all.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
The rest of the kids.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
I know, Brandt talked about that.
Speaker 4 (02:43):
Yeah, that's awesome. Just you know, something that we may
take for granted as something small, you know, with school
supplies and a backpack, it can make a huge difference
to these guys' lives.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
It's just it's pretty cool. Yeah, gives them those confidence
and we love that.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
Thank you guys so much for the work that you
do and we look forward to when other kid I
was going to be getting.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
Starting Wednesday afternoon, So thank you Corwin for putting those
smiles on those faces.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
And United Wave Castplay.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
Their work never ends, so you can always donate as well.
And where can they find a little bit more info
into just that.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
Yes, you can google United Wayfargo that's pretty easy. But
unitedwaycasplay dot org. And we are still accepting financial donations
because as many kids as we can help this week
we will. So thank you Corwin for helping us get
there on our way to the sixty five hundred.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
Thank you all and have a wonderful day and good
luck with everything.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
Thank you
