Speaker 1 (00:00):
What about Egle.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Now.
Speaker 1 (00:04):
Now, it is so fun to have two of my
favorite people here in studio with me to talk about
something extra special going on in the community. Christina from
United Way and I have Brant from Corwin here and Christina,
I just want to start off talking about this United
Way School Supply Drive. Talk about this for somebody who's
(00:24):
been living out of I Rock and doesn't know about it.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
Well, I know summer is in full swing, but we
a United Way and at Corwin we are already thinking
about our school supply drive. So you can give to
our school supply drive now. And our goal this year
is to help six five hundred local kids go back
to school. So we're pretty excited about it. But we
need and want the communities help.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
Absolutely you do. And you know those kids get pretty
excited when they get these supplies, like it's crazy, like
the smiles that just light up their faces. Talk about
some of the needs, like what you need.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
So the easiest thing to do is to hop online
and give online. If you want to do that, Corwin's
going to talk a little bit about what that would
mean for us. And if you really want to do
the shopping, you can go on out get those supplies.
We need new backpacks, pencils, crans, all the things you
would expect. But our website has a great list, So
if you want to make a day of it and
print off that list and go shopping, you can do that,
or you can hop on our website and give online.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
Perfect and how long is this going until that they
can be donating for it.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
So we have a ton of volunteers that help us
to get those backpacks packed. So we would hope that
by July twenty eighth we have our donations in. And
you're thinking, I know that's like Midsummer, but we want
to get those backpacks into the hands of kids in
August so they're not worried about the school year. So
July twenty eighth is that magic date that we hope
to get donations in.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
By fantastic and a little something extra special. Of course,
we know Corwin loves to give back to the community
and they've got something that they're going to be doing
with this United Way School Supply drive. Brant, why don't
you tell us a little bit about what you're doing
to help out.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
Oh my gosh, I mean, we're so excited to be involved
in this again. I think we were just talking. It's
our fourth year of being involved in the school supply drive,
and I mean, let's face it, it's tough to be
a kid going to school, especially if you're not prepared.
You don't feel like you have everything that you need
to be successful. So really getting these kids set up
for success is what this program is all about. And
I think it's just such a great cause right here
in a local community. So this year, Corron Automotive is
(02:11):
going to match every dollar up to forty thousand bucks.
So your twenty five dollars gift that gets one backpack
actually turns into fifty dollars that gets two backpacks. So
we're really excited to be involved in again and are
really hoping to set some records this year.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
Well that's fantastic.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
So you heard it here.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
So your twenty five dollars getting matched up to forty
thousand dollars corn given back, And oh my gosh, Christina,
how much difference does that help make?
Speaker 3 (02:36):
Well you think about I actually had a chance to
meet someone in his twenties who remembered getting a backpack
when he was a middle schooler, and he works at
a local business here in town, and he talked about
what it meant to him back then, and he's actually
volunteered now. But you know, it's so joyous when it
happens at the moment, but it stays with them forever.
You know, this young man remember what it felt like
to go to school, you know, with a grocery bag
(02:57):
full of supplies, and then when United Way came, he
had ever think he needed. So that's a really special
story to us.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
I love that. And now you both being parents, I'm
sure you understand the importance in watching these kids and
making their life a little less stressful, so definitely make
sure you're giving brand. We appreciate everything that you and
Corwin do for the community, and of course Christina, you
and United Way if they need any more info, where
can we go?
Speaker 3 (03:21):
So you can google United Way Fargo that's pretty easy,
but unitedwaycasclay dot org and kind of cool. If you
just want to venmo us you can actually venmo your
gift and Corwin will match it, so how cool is that?
Or you can give online as well.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
Thank you guys. It is United Way School Supply Drive
and of course that wonderful donation matching up to forty
thousand dollars from Corwin. Thanks so much, guys for coming
in today.
