I'm gonna go with one that I talked about on

I'm gonna take Vanderbilt plus seven and a half at Auburn.
I understand all of the advanced metrics that make Auburn
look like a good football team. But let's get it
serious on this. They beat a hapless Kentucky team that

cannot score. Last week. Kentucky has done nothing. They had
the one win against Olemiss aside from keeping it close
against Georgia earlier in the year. This offense for Kentucky
has been absolutely abysmal. And when you look at all
of the little things, Auburn had their number one twenty
nine in turnover margin. They give the ball away more

than anybody in the conference and almost anybody in the country.
They have gotten a little bit better at that, but look,
this is a team that, when you get them frustrated,
make mistakes. And there is not a single more frustrating
team in the entire country than Vanderbilt. Right now, Diego

Pavia as a dog is undefeated. Yes, he's incredible, Like
this guy is unreal, and typically it's as a double
digit dog. But look seven and a half, you're giving
me a touchdown and the hook here. I feel great
about this. I'm looking at all the little fringe things. Right,
Vanderbilt is number sixteen in the country in special teams efficiency.

Auburn is number fifty two. It's these little bitty things
where they're gonna be able to keep the ball and
make it where Auburn when they do get the ball,
feels like they have to push. And when you get
a quarterback like Peyton Thorn where he feels pressure to
make something happen because you don't know when you're gonna
see the ball again, it's a mistake. It's a problem

and constantly.

And we've already seen them lose what to cal at home,
they lost to Arkansas at home. What gives you, add
Oklahoma team in what gives you confidence in Auburn to
be this significant of a favor favorite? And again for
Vanderbilt it's five five times they've been an underdog this year.

hosting ole Miss on Saturday morning. And look, Arkansas has
been pretty good. This ole Miss team. They are propped
up by what they had happened in the non conference.
Since they got into SEC play, they have just not
been nearly as good. And there's just something about going

to end. I know that it's an early game, so
obviously the crowd in Faeteville is not going to be
quite the same, but Taylor Green, there's a lot of variants.
There's a lot of volatility with this Arkansas offense. What
Bobby Petrino has done has been incredibly impressive and miss
they're already looking ahead a little bit to next week.

They are already, you know, next week, they've got Georgia
coming into Oxford. Lane spent part of his time in
his press conference this week talking about the fact that
they did not get a they didn't get a night
game from ESPN, right right, So I don't know how
focused they are on Arkansas. I do know that they've

got a good defense, so there's a chance that they
can just completely shut Arkansas down. But we don't know
if Trey Harris is gonna play. That offense does not
look the same without Trey Harris at wide receiver. I
feel I feel kind of froggy about Arkansas maybe winning
this thing outright, because this team has been good. I'm
going to put the card up.

in Week four, I had Arkansas plus the two and
a half, and I'm trying to remember if that was

got available. He did it last year against UCLA in
his first year, where their quarterbacks were hurt, they couldn't

thing and beat UCLA, who was actually a fairly decent
team in Chip Kelly's last year, beat them seventeen to
seven by just keeping the ball away from like and
nobody expected them to run that kind of thing. Coach,
you never know what you're gonna get. It's coaching exactly,
but Gundhy can kind of be the same thing. Alan
Bowman isn't great. This is a team that last year

had three point three more wins than they were projected
to have based on postgame win expectancy, right, so they
overperformed all year and then they got a like ninety
something percent their production was coming back. They were number
what one, two or three in the country depending.

On that, because Ali Gordon's leading returner in the nation
in rushing seventeen hundred yards last year. So maybe a
little market correction because Oklahoma State is now underperformed as
opposed to that, it's regression to the means. However, this
sooner or later it comes due, and I think this

the bye, I will take them on three dog Thursday
in that afternoon game in the Big twelve, one more
underdog from each one of us. Will also touch on

I'm going to the ACC And this is another one
that I did talk about, but I feel strongly about
this one. I'm going with Pitt against the SMU.

You know those traditional ACC rivals, Pitt and SMIU.

Right, good gracious, Look you look at strength of schedule.
Isn't good for either one of these teams? Number one
oh one for Pitt, umber seventy seven for SMU. Is
I'm not going to call them a turnover machine, but
they are number one twenty one in the country in
giveaway rate. That is that is not good at all.
And then Pitt has been pretty good. They're number twenty

seven in takeaways. Pitt doesn't turn the ball over number
eighteen and giveaways per game. And then of course there's
the other little things, right like Pitt is number eight
in special teams efficiency. SMU is number forty four in that.
So SMU and terrible, but it's still a bit of
an edge for Pitt when it comes to penalties per game,
Pitt is significantly better. All the little fundamental things this
Pit team is really really good at. So on the margins,

they're just an overall better football team. And that's what
I'm looking at in this I know SMU is at home,
but SMU coming off a tough game against Duke coming
back home. I think that Pitt's going to be able
to hang in this game. I think that both quarterbacks
are going to play. This Pit offense over the last
four weeks has not been very good, number ninety three

in the country in PPA drive, but their defense has
been number two. This Pit defense is legit right now.

that the USC has been kind of hot and cold offensively.

Shoulda cooda would have beat Penn State. Lost a game
in overtime, but again they've not been the same team
on the road. Lost in the final seconds to Minnesota,

to take Oregon here, and my gut is saying you
gotta take Michigan. There's a little bit of an advantage
with Michigan running the ball against that Oregon defensive line

my gut tells me in Michigan the number say Oregon,

Franklin ever gonna win an important Michigan or Ohio State

I think yeah, the line is right, at least when
it comes to advanced metrics and whatnot. I think Penn

Wisconsin off guard. But Drew Aller is going to play.

I think he's gonna be fine. The thing or the
people that are not going to play are the first
and second string left tackles for Ohio State, and that
is a huge concern when you're talking about Abdul Carter
in that front seven for Penn State. I just get

been been waiting for and Ohio State all this talk

and all this hype, and yeah, I just I don't
feel good about their chances going into Happy But could
you imagine Ohio State being out of the Big Ten
race by the first weekend in November.

of this team, where the talent level isn't isn't one
of the best teams in the country, but they've got
a lot of returning experience. They've been in the system
for a long time. They're incredibly well coached. Heecock, they're

shut teams down. I don't know if you can shut

with Texas Tech. They're at Kansas who's bad. They got
Cincinnati at home very winnable, they got Utah Utah who's

There is a realistic chance that if they win this
game with Texas Tech, they could roll their way to

played better for A and M the running quarterback in

I'm gonna go with one that I talked about on
the bet Us Show and it's moved against me, but
I'm gonna take Vanderbilt plus seven and a half at Auburn.
I understand all of the advanced metrics that make Auburn
look like a good football team. But let's get it
serious on this. They beat a hapless Kentucky team that

cannot score. Last week. Kentucky has done nothing. They had
the one win against Olemiss aside from keeping it close
against Georgia earlier in the year. This offense for Kentucky
has been absolutely abysmal. And when you look at all
of the little things, Auburn had their number one twenty
nine in turnover margin. They give the ball away more
(04:48):
than anybody in the conference and almost anybody in the country.
They have gotten a little bit better at that, but look,
this is a team that, when you get them frustrated,
make mistakes. And there is not a single more frustrating
team in the entire country than Vanderbilt. Right now, Diego
(05:08):
Pavia as a dog is undefeated. Yes, he's incredible, Like
this guy is unreal, and typically it's as a double
digit dog. But look seven and a half, you're giving
me a touchdown and the hook here. I feel great
about this. I'm looking at all the little fringe things. Right,
Vanderbilt is number sixteen in the country in special teams efficiency.

Auburn is number fifty two. It's these little bitty things
where they're gonna be able to keep the ball and
make it where Auburn when they do get the ball,
feels like they have to push. And when you get
a quarterback like Peyton Thorn where he feels pressure to
make something happen because you don't know when you're gonna
see the ball again, it's a mistake. It's a problem

and constantly.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
And we've already seen them lose what to cal at home,
they lost to Arkansas at home. What gives you, add
Oklahoma team in what gives you confidence in Auburn to
be this significant of a favor favorite? And again for
Vanderbilt it's five five times they've been an underdog this year.
They are five and oh ats.

And have won three of them outright.

Including beating Alabama.

If you can't tell by the tone of my voice,
I was already believing in this before Gary took to

Yeah it can. We've seen this over and over again
this year. They can't get the numbers right on these
smaller teams, right. Vanderbilt was not supposed to be good.
Indiana was not supposed to be good. Illinois was not supposed.

At pitt was not supposed to be good. They can't
get the numbers right on it.

Sure, And if PAVI as a one man wrecking crew
against Hugh Freeze, are you aware that with New Mexico
State they went to Liberty as a twenty plus point
underdog and destroyed them. And then with Domexico State last
year at Auburn as a twenty plus point underdog. Wiped
out Auburn last year in Hugh Freeze. I mean, if
if Pavia with Vanderbilt beats them again and beats Hugh

Freeze again, good gracious, And we think it's at least
going to be close here. So for three Dog Thursday
purposes underdog number one, that's an noon ish or what
is it, twelve thirty maybe on the SEC network, eleven
thirty Central early game Vandy at Auburn. We're both taking
Vanderbilt here in this instance. Are you gonna stay in

the SEC with your second underdog? Since I joined in,
we each have now done one underdog? Are you going
to stay in the Southeastern Conference for your second underdog?

I am, and I am going to go with Arkansas
hosting ole Miss on Saturday morning. And look, Arkansas has
been pretty good. This ole Miss team. They are propped
up by what they had happened in the non conference.
Since they got into SEC play, they have just not
been nearly as good. And there's just something about going

to end. I know that it's an early game, so
obviously the crowd in Faeteville is not going to be
quite the same, but Taylor Green, there's a lot of variants.
There's a lot of volatility with this Arkansas offense. What
Bobby Petrino has done has been incredibly impressive and miss
they're already looking ahead a little bit to next week.

They are already, you know, next week, they've got Georgia
coming into Oxford. Lane spent part of his time in
his press conference this week talking about the fact that
they did not get a they didn't get a night
game from ESPN, right right, So I don't know how
focused they are on Arkansas. I do know that they've

got a good defense, so there's a chance that they
can just completely shut Arkansas down. But we don't know
if Trey Harris is gonna play. That offense does not
look the same without Trey Harris at wide receiver. I
feel I feel kind of froggy about Arkansas maybe winning
this thing outright, because this team has been good. I'm
going to put the card up.

My friend put the card up there. He's got Dogs
plus seven and a half, and I'm just looking back
in Week four, I had Arkansas plus the two and
a half, and I'm trying to remember if that was
the Tennessee game. I don't think so four was the.

The A and M game, So I had them in Airansas. Yeah,
and so we did all right with that. You had
you had Arkansas in week five. Actually, I think for
A and M. So we've both had them already this

So you're going back to the Hogs. You're gonna call

And that's what Gundhy has done in the past. When
something isn't working, he'll switch it up and they'll go
and do something different. They haven't really been able to
do that much. They did against BYU. They didn't get
the win, but they did get the cover on the
road coming out of the bye week. Last week, they
(15:25):
were on the road again at Baylor. This is the
first time they're going to be at home in almost
a month.
Speaker 2 (15:28):
Well, and Baylor ran all over them last week. I
get that Baylor had three hundred yards rushing, but you
thought you talked about issue here. Yes, true, but you
talk about Shuta Kuda would have they had BYU on
the ropes. They were winning the game in the second half.
Ali Gordon was running the ball well. Oli Gordon ran
the ball well last week against Baylor. The only issue
that you started to allude to, can they stop Arizona

State pick it up on that?
Speaker 1 (15:51):

Speaker 3 (15:51):
They Skataboo is just he's awesome. He's awesome, and the
offensive line and defensive line play for Arizona State has
been way way better than we expected. Kenny Dillingham is
really doing some fun stuff there. The crazy thing about
Dillingham is he he does some very interesting things where
he'll just completely change the offensive game plan from week
(16:14):
to week depending on what the personnel is that they've
got available. He did it last year against UCLA in
his first year, where their quarterbacks were hurt, they couldn't
figure out what.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
They were going to do.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
They came out and ran some kind of wing te
thing and beat UCLA, who was actually a fairly decent
team in Chip Kelly's last year, beat them seventeen to
seven by just keeping the ball away from like and
nobody expected them to run that kind of thing. Coach,
you never know what you're gonna get. It's coaching exactly,
but Gundhy can kind of be the same thing. Alan
Bowman isn't great. This is a team that last year
(16:46):
had three point three more wins than they were projected
to have based on postgame win expectancy, right, so they
overperformed all year and then they got a like ninety
something percent their production was coming back. They were number
what one, two or three in the country depending.
Speaker 2 (17:02):
On that, because Ali Gordon's leading returner in the nation
in rushing seventeen hundred yards last year. So maybe a
little market correction because Oklahoma State is now underperformed as
opposed to that, it's regression to the means. However, this
sooner or later it comes due, and I think this
is the week that it comes due. Baby for Oklahoma
(17:22):
State against Arizona State, even with the sun Devils off
the bye, I will take them on three dog Thursday
in that afternoon game in the Big twelve, one more
underdog from each one of us. Will also touch on
a couple of other games. Where you're going next? I think,
I think, I think I might have an idea of
where you are you going? In the ACC.
Speaker 3 (17:41):
I'm going to the ACC And this is another one
that I did talk about, but I feel strongly about
this one. I'm going with Pitt against the SMU.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
You know those traditional ACC rivals, Pitt and SMIU.
Speaker 3 (17:53):
Right, good gracious, Look you look at strength of schedule.
Isn't good for either one of these teams? Number one
oh one for Pitt, umber seventy seven for SMU. Is
I'm not going to call them a turnover machine, but
they are number one twenty one in the country in
giveaway rate. That is that is not good at all.
And then Pitt has been pretty good. They're number twenty
(18:15):
seven in takeaways. Pitt doesn't turn the ball over number
eighteen and giveaways per game. And then of course there's
the other little things, right like Pitt is number eight
in special teams efficiency. SMU is number forty four in that.
So SMU and terrible, but it's still a bit of
an edge for Pitt when it comes to penalties per game,
Pitt is significantly better. All the little fundamental things this
Pit team is really really good at. So on the margins,
(18:38):
they're just an overall better football team. And that's what
I'm looking at in this I know SMU is at home,
but SMU coming off a tough game against Duke coming
back home. I think that Pitt's going to be able
to hang in this game. I think that both quarterbacks
are going to play. This Pit offense over the last
four weeks has not been very good, number ninety three
(18:58):
in the country in PPA drive, but their defense has
been number two. This Pit defense is legit right now.
Speaker 2 (19:07):
It rolling and they have found a way to win
in dire straits in the fourth quarter game on the line,
over and over again at an adversity. Yeah, eighteen point
comeback at Cincinnati early in the year, down ten in
the backyard brawl game at home to come back and
win in that game with West Virginia, game could have
gone either way with cal they hong on, they got

a missfield goal, they got a fourth down stop late
in the game in like a two point game and
won that game. They have not been eight and oh
since nineteen eighty two and Dan Marino, hello, they're eight

it was a seven to three stink bomb game with

He was working, obviously the Falcons Buccaneers game. No, I

So every number that I've got says that you've got
to take Oregon here, and my gut is saying you
gotta take Michigan. There's a little bit of an advantage
with Michigan running the ball against that Oregon defensive line
and really against that front seven. But man, if you

passing game, which they did last week against Michigan State,

Davis Warren looked better. So that was certainly good. But
my gut tells me in Michigan the number say Oregon,
I'm stand away.

You, especially after what we saw Oregon beat Ohio State
at home as well. Outright, I had that on three

That is the CBS two thirty Central, three thirty eastern
time game. The big noon game is Ohio State Penn State,
Ohio State road favorite at Penn State. When is James
Franklin ever gonna win an important Michigan or Ohio State

game at Penn State? Is this the time? It's the
Fox big noon kickoff game at noon eastern eleven am Central.
Thought on that is that line about right?

I think yeah, the line is right, at least when
it comes to advanced metrics and whatnot. I think Penn
State's can win the game, out right. I talked about
it on the bait Us Show. I think having the
two different quarterbacks, the privy look kid looks better in
this nikky offense, and that might be because they call
Wisconsin off guard. But Drew Aller is going to play.

They showed video of him practicing and what he's gonna play.
I think he's gonna be fine. The thing or the
people that are not going to play are the first
and second string left tackles for Ohio State, and that
is a huge concern when you're talking about Abdul Carter
in that front seven for Penn State. I just get
the feeling that this is the year that Penn State's
been been waiting for and Ohio State all this talk

and all this hype, and yeah, I just I don't
feel good about their chances going into Happy But could
you imagine Ohio State being out of the Big Ten
race by the first weekend in November.

It could be if they don't win this use this.

Game, and it's it's pretty much they're they're.
Speaker 2 (28:46):
In trouble, especially the tiebreaker with Oregon for example, and
again they struggled with Nebraska to put them away. They
they missed on a couple of red zone scoring chances,
missed a field goal and that's a one score game.
Late in the game, they had to put it away
with an interception in the final couple of nuts.

That's what scares me a little bit about this is
they they didn't look good last week, so is this
a bounce back spot? Are they just waiting on this game?

Well, the kid Justin Smith is a phenomenal NFL caliber
wide receiver. He's only a freshman, so maybe he has
a breakout game. And Penn State, for whatever reason, though,
has turtled in this game figuratively over and over and

Iowa State Texas Tech. I think is sneaky good again.

They've been good. I still don't know what happened to

they're better than that on defense. Am I crazy to
think that fourteen might be too many points? Saturday afternoon?

I mean, this line's all over the place, right, there's
a couple of twelve and a half's out there. You
can get a fourteen. I mean, it's just it's bananas.
But the reason that it's like that is because Texas
Tech is, i mean, maybe one of the most high
variance teams in the entire country. Morton the quarterback, he's
hit or miss, he can be real.

He's been hurt by the way he was hurt in
the second half, didn't play against TCU, but it's believe
he's going to try to play in this game.
Speaker 3 (30:17):
Yeah, my numbers have Iowa State by like sixteen and
a half seventeen. But this is another one of those
where you're trying to figure out what is the ceiling
of this team, where the talent level isn't isn't one
of the best teams in the country, but they've got
a lot of returning experience. They've been in the system
for a long time. They're incredibly well coached. Heecock, they're
Their defensive coordinator is just an absolute stud and what

he does in these second halves, I mean, they just
shut teams down. I don't know if you can shut
down Texteck though. That's what I'm curious.
Speaker 2 (30:47):
About and by the way, for Iowa State, we get
to play the look ahead. The teams don't, but we
get to play look ahead. If they win this game
with Texas Tech. They're at Kansas who's bad. They got
Cincinnati at home very winnable, they got Utah Utah who's
bad and in disarray, and then they finished with Kansas State.
There is a realistic chance that if they win this
game with Texas Tech, they could roll their way to

eleven and zero. For that Case State game, you and
by you right now at eight and oh has the
off week this week? Just like we said at the
top of the show, everybody said in the big twelve
b YU and Iowa State. At the end of the
they say, of course not. And then sec Georgia gonna
clobber Florida. Florida is so injured at the skill positions,

running backs, receivers, they got a safety that's out as well.
