Off a WILD Labor Day weekend of action, we are back aboard with the only digital show/podcast that's devoted specifically to college football underdogs. Time to get back at it on "3 Dog Thursday!"

Host T.J. Rives returns with Jason Powers of the "Powers on Sports Podcast" and "Florida Football Insiders" college themed pod to go over the "pooches" for week two.

Who likes the Iowa Hawkeyes in the "Farmageddon" battle with in state rival Iowa State coming up? The road team has had lots of success in this series.

Next, who's looking a Big 12 doggie's way, as they are getting a boatload of points out West? And, who thinks that Mississippi State will be a tasty home pooch out of the SEC? Plus, we go back out West and ask the question- how is UCLA favored against anyone at this point?

Hear it all as part of our coverage and also, we talk up the marquee Michigan vs. Oklahoma battle in Norman for Saturday night, too!

It's all part of "3 Dog Thursday" and we love the underdogs here on Apple/Spreaker/Spotify, etc.

And WATCH the show on the "Winning Cures Everything" Youtube page here for more, too!

Speaker 1 (00:07):
Football fans, it's time to go on the record with
this week's matchups in pro and college football. With just
one catch. We're only interested in underdog who can keep
it close, if not pull the outright upset. Time to
find out. It's three Dog Thursday. Now here's your host,

(00:27):
TJ Reeve.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
All Right, folks, welcome in.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
It is a brand new edition of three Dog Thursday
right here on the Winning Cures Everything platforms, the YouTube page,
Winningcures Everything dot Com, and on podcast as well wherever
you get podcasts. We're glad that you found us here
as part of three Dog Thursday. I am merely the
somewhat competent host Tjreeves. Gary Seekers is away this week,

(00:52):
although he's been doing a bevy of prognosticating here on
the Winning Cures platform, in particular all of his different picks,
all of the different matchups.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
We love it. We focus on underdogs each.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
And every Thursday here on the platform we cohabitate.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Hello, Jason Powers, my wingman.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
I love Jason's insight on all things college sports and
even beyond. Jason, as you see up on the screen,
is part of the Powers on Sports podcast that he hosts,
which is an Everything podcast, but is also part of
Florida Football Insiders as well. Listen, I'm trying to be
technologically savvy on the show. So I'm gonna do this,
and I'm gonna do this, and I'm gonna tell everybody that,

(01:35):
wherever you get your podcast, check out Jason on Florida
Football Insiders for all of the college Floridian teams. What
a week Jason Powers last week for the University of
South Florida, USF, for Florida State, for Miami Big Week.
They need to find you on the Florida Football Insiders podcast.
Wherever that you get your podcasts. Welcome in, my friend.

(01:59):
There's a bunch a bunch obviously to go over here.
How are things as we get ready for Week two?

Speaker 4 (02:05):
We had a nice rebirth here of college football in
the state of Florida last week, back to the glory
days of the nineties when Florida, Florida State, Miami were
top five, top ten every week in the country. Now
we can actually have a claim that we deserve to
be back in the top fifteen again.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
Sure, and you look at a USF win with Boise
State on Thursday night, which was a top twenty five
win on ESPN a lot of relevance. What did I
see while we just brag on the state where Jason
and I are both residing here in west central Florida
and Tampa Bay, what did I see? It was the
first time since November of two thousand that two Florida teams.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Beat two top ten teams. That's been a while.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
That was Miami beating Virginia Tech and that was Florida
State beating Clemson in two thousand. That was Bobby Bowden
over Tommy Bowden.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
I believe in too. Yeah, I'm not mistaken.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
But in any event, that's the last time now that
we saw the Miami win over Notre Dame And what
about Florida State over Alabama decisively? Two top ten wins
for those programs. What about FSU? First of all, going
back to last Saturday as a two touchdown underdog, Gary
had them on three dog Thursday outright winner Jason Powers.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
Very impressive by Gary. I also thought that game was
going to be much closer than the fourteenth. I think
what I saw last week with two things that I
really wanted to see. I wanted to see the competitive
spirit of Florida State. They lost that last year. It
was a dumpster fire. Players were playing for the name
on their back, not the front. I think after Ala again,
how was Florida State going to react when Alabama went

(03:43):
down the field the first drive of the game for
eight minutes and punched it in. You saw what they did,
they responded Castellanos that offense. The physicality of Florida State
on both lines of scrimmage was dominant after that point. Again,
very good signed for Mike Norvell. Now how do you
and those some success leading in everybody's talking how great

(04:03):
you are? Now, how do you respond to that? Same
can be hell for Miami? First time in like ten
years they had beaten a top ten team. How do
you handle the success Florida Miami? Next week? Not this week,
but next week. You have Florida in Miami two weeks,
I'm sorry, not the next couple weeks. You got Florida
Miami playing each other. You got Florida State playing an
ACC team in a couple of weeks. How do you

(04:25):
handle success?

Speaker 3 (04:26):
And eventually Florida State comes around in early October to
play Miami. Yes, as well, the good news for the
Seminoles as they are playing two cripples.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
What is this East Texas A and M or whatever?
It's on my schedule? What is that?

Speaker 3 (04:39):
I know you played Alabama in the opening game, and
again we love the Dogs. By the way, we were
four and two on the show last week. Thank you
East Carolina. You had East Carolina as well for three
Dog Thursday purposes last Thursday night against the wolf Pack
of NC State. Get rowdy at the Dowdy with the
Pirates of ECU. They were a cover. We both love

(05:00):
Fresno State. We did, I said a couple of times.
A team that has played a game playing at home.
How are they an underdog at Georgia Southern. They were
a short underdog on three Dog Thursday and they won
the game decisively Fresno State, so we love that. Spot
Gary also came through with the Miami win over Notre Dame.
I'm skeptical of Mario Cristaball. I know it's a quality

(05:23):
win over Notre Dame. Carson Beck now there at quarterback.
Are you more of a believer in crystal ball? After
we've seen some coaching blunders at Oregon and early on
at Miami, do you believe that he's learned from it?

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Maybe better? What do you think.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
I mean, you always have to worry about Mario botching
a game. But what things I like? Again, you saw
strength in the trenches, really good offensive line play. The
defensive line without having to blitz a whole lot, played
pretty well. They were more organized on defense. Does Miami
have to be a top ten defense? No? And look
at their schedule. No Clemson, No, Georgia Tech, and the AC.

(06:00):
So you have to deal with Florida State potentially in
a month or so. But other than that, you got
a pretty smooth path that even if you do slip
up once, you can still make the ACC title game.
And I think we saw Clemson is not the clear
dominant team in this league.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Struggled again on offense.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
Some of that is credit LSU, but struggled again on
offense to put points on the board, especially in the
second half where they were shut out by LSU.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
How about Dabo's comments to Brian about to Brian Kelly
about well they were a sixty five and we were
a fifty eight on the grating scale.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
I love the full comment.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
He said it was a final exam right away, you
know he said credit them, they won, but you know
they got a sixty five we got a fifty eight
an other words than one of us were very good
and Brian Kelly shot back. He's got to have some
help with his math because we dominated that second half,
which I don't know dominated, Yeah, they.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
Beat him fourteen nothing.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
I mean dominating is what TCU did to North Carolina
in the second half when twenty to seven became twenty
seven to seven, thirty four to seven, forty one to
seven in the first quarter of the game. Which speaking
of which, are we at def Con three? For a
few situations in fan bases, we got Alabama, like at

(07:10):
deaf Con three or two, because it descends we got
already at North Carolina? Are we at deaf Con three already?
On Bill Belichick? And what about Arch Manning after all
of the hype? You want me to do it, don't you?
Before we get to the picks on three Dog Thursday,
Like vito'clok, Ron Paulis.

Speaker 4 (07:26):
Will win two high.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
Pino with the neck fat hanging out back in the
day on esp in the nineties, because Notre Dame has
what Jason.

Speaker 4 (07:36):
Notre Dame has material dj.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
Ree heil Ron Paulus will win the Heisman twice. No
so Arch Manning.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
Do are we at deaf Con three with him? Are
we ringing the red alarm bell here in Austin that
he's maybe not what he's been built up to be,
at least early on here in this second season.

Speaker 4 (07:59):
I don't think there's any doubt he's not where he's
going to be. And again, I think you heard the family.
That's why you've heard many rubblings out of the family
of Arch isn't going to come out to the draft
this year. Even if he has a good year, the
likelihood is he's going to come back to Texas because
what did Peyton do? He played four years at Tennessee.
What did Eli do? He played four years at Old Miss.

(08:20):
They probably both could have came out for their junior year,
but I think they understand the value of get as
much playing time. And again, let's be let's let's keep
it real with Arch. His first ever start, really is
his first ever road game in that environment. I know
he didn't play well, and I'm the first to say
he didn't play well, but this is not the end
of the road for Arch Manning. He'll get better. I

(08:42):
mean he'll get better and better. They've got two I
want to see what Arch looks like in about four
weeks when he comes to the swamp.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
Right, they got to play in Gainesville.

Speaker 3 (08:51):
Good luck with that. And again he's making massive nil.
It's in his best interest to get a full year
of college this year and then and then come back
and get another year. This is us saying that where
it's not like you're doing it for meal money or
for gas money. You're doing it for big money. He's
doing it for six and a half million dollars which
his uncle's and Eli did not get allegedly while playing

(09:13):
in college. Anyway, it is three dog Thursday. We're cohabitating
here on the Winning Curs Everything platform. Again, Gary, let's
us hang here as we do the underdogs. I might
have mentioned four and two week last week on the show.
All right, why don't we get to it. This is
what the peeps are here for. Game number one here,
let's do this from Jason. Is the CBS National Game

(09:37):
or no, my bad, my mistake, the Fox Big Noon
kickoff game. I preempted myself there with the CBS National
Game that I'm gonna have coming up in a couple
of moments. The Fox Big Noon Kickoff goes to Ames Iowa.
What was Parmageddon? You like Iowa here? We watched them
for a little bit, struggle with Albany the great names

(09:57):
for the first quarter or so. Meanwhile, Iowa State with
rock O Beck, who's from our area high school player,
son of Anthony Beck.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
A great family.

Speaker 3 (10:07):
Anthony Beck, former number one pick of the New York Jets,
had a thirteen year NFL career, also played with the
Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Anthony now been in the media on
ESPN College Football, currently doing the New York Jets on
the radio. Anthony's a busy dude too, also coaching the
UFL's Saint Louis BattleHawks in the Minor League Football League
the UFL. So what do we make of this? You

(10:30):
like Iowa here in the matchup in Ames, huge attention
on this game, hype around Iowa State.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
Why do you like the Hawkeys? Plus the three on
three dog Thursday.

Speaker 4 (10:41):
This is one of those rivalries, the Syhawk rivalry, where
no matter how good we think both teams are, we
think one team might be clearly better than the other.
This is just one of those games every year that
kind of comes down to the wire, whether it's a
grinded out kind of low scoring battle. Typically, we saw
Roco Beck win the game late last year, I believe
late drive to win the game up in Iowa City.

(11:03):
How about this stat TJ. Reeves. Since twenty eighteen, the
road team has won this game every year. That's something else.

Speaker 3 (11:12):
And I knew that to an extent because I did
the twenty twenty one game on national radio on Compass
Media Network. Steve Berlin and I did the game and
Iowa State was top ten for that game. I believe
it was the second game of the year. This is
the third game of the year because Iowa State played
in the Week zero similar situation and Farence and the
Iowa defense had three defensive touchdowns in the game that day.

(11:36):
They also followed up by winning in twenty twenty three
in games and you like them to possibly do this
again early on the big noon national Fox game.

Speaker 4 (11:47):
A couple things to remember. Remember Iowas had major issues
the last five six years at the quarterback position right
struggle to score. They just can't mean it's labored. Their
defense has been really good the last several years. Nick Jackson,
one of the linebackers as a member of the Buccaneers.
Now from that Iowa team last year Mark Gronowski, remember
that name, A transfer out of FCS South Dakota State.

(12:10):
I believe it's where he came from, had a really
good career there. He's now their quarterback. Last week, I
think you saw a conscious effort to keep it very
close to the vest offensively against Albany, maybe not to
expose what he can do well. Mark Gronowski is a
good thrower. They really like him, and if you look
at Iowa's schedule, there's some opportunity here to kind of

(12:32):
be the sleeper team like an SMU if they can
win this game. I believe they have Ohio State and
Oregon in their building. I believe those two were coming
to Iowa City later in the year they avoid Penn State.
I believe so Mark Gronowski could be the difference maker
offensively because I think Iowa's gonna have another good defense.
We know what rock Obeck is a you talk about

(12:54):
one of the most clutch players in America. Rock O
Beck's not the most physically gifted guy, but he is
a winner. He makes the play when it has to
be made. So plus three here, I could see a
twenty one to twenty kind of game. I could see
Iowa State winning the game, but not covering the three points.
It's just that kind of rival. We've seen goofy plays
in this game. TJ safeties, block kicks, kick return so trick,

(13:17):
goofy kind of plays which get the score off kilter.
I just think Iowa keeps this game close. I could
see Iowa winning the game. Give me Iowa plus the
three in games.

Speaker 3 (13:29):
Love it again. Gus Johnson and Joel Cladd'll be on
the call. Could get animated and again. Rock o'beck has
been good. He had a couple of turnovers in Ireland
on the sloppy field with Kansas State, but let's don't
bury the lead. He had a couple of big touchdowns
in the second half, one throwing in the eventual game winner.
Running They rocked and rolled last week with South Dakota

(13:50):
at home where it could have maybe been.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
A sleepy situation sandwich game in between.

Speaker 3 (13:54):
The Iowa game. Now will they be raring to go?
And you mentioned what's it worth a year ago that
he led them to the last second win. The field goal.

Speaker 2 (14:03):
The kicker.

Speaker 3 (14:05):
That kicked a a last second field goal from about
fifty yards out right city. He kicked a sixty three
yarder last week, the kicker for Iowa State. So stay tuned.
They've got the same place kicker here. I know you're
big on the kicking. So Doggy number one is Jason
going with Iowa here as part of three dog Thursday.
All right, let's continue as I teased inadvertently, we got

(14:29):
Oklahoma State and Oregon. I've always thought for the biggest
game on CBS. Forget about Alabama and Tennessee, forget about
Florida LSU. Let's patch together whatever this is with the
Big ten and the Big twelve. Because it's an Oregon
home game, CBS can take the game.

Speaker 2 (14:47):
So this is twelve.

Speaker 3 (14:47):
Thirty Pacific, three thirty Eastern time, and oak State off
of a performance with UT Martin at home. Remember, Mike
Gundy fired everybody but the Janet Oriol staff at Oklahoma State.
All coordinator gone, decordinator gone, special teams coordinator gone. All right,
so now they get a game under their belt. They

(15:09):
put it away late when twenty seven to seven over
UT Mark. Meanwhile, Oregon scored a ton of points over
what Montana State?

Speaker 2 (15:17):
Oregon at home favored by a ton.

Speaker 3 (15:20):
Here, do you want a couple of numbers because I
watched Gary stuff here on winning cures Everything on the
platform and winning Cures Everything dot Com.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
You ready for a couple of numbers here?

Speaker 4 (15:29):
I want some numbers. But we've also had some coach
on coach beef this week.

Speaker 2 (15:32):
Too, right, we have. We got to get to that
in a second.

Speaker 3 (15:35):
But what if I told you that, for whatever it's worth,
in their last thirteen tries against a top twenty five
team on the road, that Oklahoma State is nine and four,
covering the number against top twenty five teams on the road,
of which Oregon is, they're nine and four. Now I
realized totally different roster, new coaches, Mike Gundy still the

(15:58):
head coach. That's probably worth something. You want another nugget
from this game, as Gary shared the last eight road
openers for Mike Gundy eight years in a row, they
are eight for eight on winning the game. I don't
think that's happening here. And they're eight for eight ats
they are eight and oh in the last eight road openers.

(16:19):
So before you dismiss poo pooh the Cowboys the Pokes,
I know Oregon can score. I know Oregon is probably
gonna get to forty forty five, maybe even fifty points.
But can the Cowboys get to like twenty eight? Can
twenty to twenty four? Can they get to twenty eight?
If they get to something like that, great chance to cover.

(16:41):
Give me Oklahoma State here in this setting plus the
twenty nine and a half for the podcast audience, it's
not seeing the graphics and the movie pictures in the show.

Speaker 4 (16:48):
And when's the last time Oklahoma State who's had a
good program since Mike Gundy's been there? When have they
been a twenty nine a half point underdog?

Speaker 3 (16:55):
I'm glad you asked that, and I will look it
up while you explained to the audience, I plug it
away in for the Phil Steel Bible.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
I mean, this thing is unbelievable.

Speaker 3 (17:04):
On giving you anything, while I look that number up
on wins the last time they were at least a
twenty point underdog, give me more on the coach on
coach beefing. Uh, Mike Gundy was not comparing final exam scores.
He was actually comparing nil money yeah this week in
his press conference.

Speaker 4 (17:20):
Because remember because remember who used to be the big
funder of Oklahoma State a few years ago won t
boone Pickens. He used to be the big financier Oklahoma State,
big big alum.

Speaker 3 (17:31):
Gave them millions the late the late t Boone Pickens,
the oil man gave them hundreds of millions. But now
you got Mike Gundy complaining that Oregon out spins them.

Speaker 4 (17:39):
Is right, because you got Phil Knight at Nike, who's
doing all the things they do. You know, uh, you know,
Dan Lanning snap back at Gundy and again, the one
thing I'd be concerned to hear, TJ if I were
you with this beef. If this game is twenty four
points with about four minutes to go, don't think Oregon
won't try to plug in another one to cover the number.

(17:59):
That would be a concern for me on this game.

Speaker 3 (18:01):
What did Dan Lanning came back with something to the
effect of, well, you know, Oklahoma State had a lot
of good teams before there was nil and maybe we
should look into that with.

Speaker 2 (18:12):
Some of the money.

Speaker 3 (18:13):
Was all right, I'm looking in the magical feel Phil
Steel for a year ago and Oklahoma State at the
end of the year with Colorado got sixteen points and
got destroyed fifty two to nothing. Remember that when Gundy
had basically checked out at that point. I'm looking for
another reference where they may have been as much as
a sixteen point underdog. There were fifteen point underdogs at

(18:36):
the end of the twenty three season with Texas and
they lost by twenty eight. They didn't cover. That's probably
the two closest recent references. I may have not gotten
anywhere near those points twenty nine to half. Like with Oregon,
give me the pokes, give me the pokes to keep
it close.

Speaker 4 (18:53):
Again, score twenty. If you score twenty one, you're probably
covering the number. I mean, you give up fifty and
you still win.

Speaker 3 (18:59):
And as Gary was talking about Todd Grantham, who's been
all over the SEC as a defensive coordinator previously, Grantham
is now the de coordinator. Right not to coach his
second game and why do we get the feeling they'll
hang in a little with the defensive pride, et cetera.
So Oaks State is underdog number two. As part of

(19:19):
three Dog Thursday. All right, where are you going next?
Here on the program? As we continue to rock along?
Do you like another big twelve team game and matchup
on a Saturday afternoon?

Speaker 2 (19:32):
What do you like?

Speaker 5 (19:33):
And let's go, let's go to the Old schools, Norm
Stewart versus Roy Williams. The Border War, Big Monday on ESPN,
Kansas and Missouri now the Big Twelve, the Big Eight,
now to the old now to the Big Twelve.

Speaker 4 (19:49):
Yes, and now with Missouri now in the SEC, it's
neither so, but it's the Border War. It's Kansas and Missouri.
This is not a neutral site game. This game is
in Columbia where again first time in a while they've
played at the home venue. So Kansas comes in getting
six and a half. Again. Lance Leipold's done a great

(20:10):
job at Kansas. He could have left there a couple
of times at different places. They've kept him. They just
opened a new stadium a couple of weeks ago. Our
buddy Tim Brando was in the building for the for
the opening of the new stadium in Lawrence. How about this, TJ. Reeves.
When I was a player at UAB back in the day,
I actually played a game in Lawrence, Kansas against Kansas.

(20:31):
Did you one Saturday?

Speaker 2 (20:33):
Did you get a kick going?

Speaker 4 (20:35):
Yeah? I got some punning in that day. Yes.

Speaker 3 (20:38):
Yes, they have about seventy five hundred announced for Kansas.

Speaker 1 (20:42):
Yes, and I.

Speaker 4 (20:42):
Believe we lost seventy two to nothing I believe was
the number that day. I think it was an ugly,
ugly score that day in Lawrence.

Speaker 2 (20:49):
But we know Jalen Daniels can play.

Speaker 3 (20:51):
We've seen in the first couple of games, including with
Fresno State and last week it was an easy game. Meanwhile,
for Missouri, they put a bunch of points up on
the board last week as well in their opener. I'm
double checking they only won sixty one to six with.

Speaker 4 (21:06):
Purbulah bo Prabulah was a is a quarterback transfer from
Penn State. He was behind Aler last year. You saw
him in some limited time in some running situations. My
concern with Purbula is can he be a consistent thrower
of the ball. We know he's a big guy, can run.
Last week he threw for two hundred and eighty three
yards and two touchdowns. But against inferior opponent. Can he

(21:28):
do that against a quality opponent Kansas Again, Jalen Daniels
kind of like the Jayden Daniels of LSU, A lot
of hype, a lot a mobile quarterback can run and throw.
Can Kansas protect him and keep him kind of pretty
clean in the pocket in order to do him. I
think if they can keep him protected, I think this
is a great opportunity here for Kansas, who a lot

(21:49):
of people think were the darlings of the Big Twelve
last year. A lot of people thought they would win
the Big Twelve and didn't have a great year because
Daniels got hurt. A lot of people think Kansas could
be a viable contender here in the Big Twelve this year.
I know you're very involved with the Big Twelve coverage
as well. Lots of people this is a wide open
Big Twelve this year. For me, he could win it.

Speaker 2 (22:08):
Let me tell you this.

Speaker 3 (22:09):
Carter Stanley, the former quarterback of the Jayhawks back about
ten years ago, is going to be the guest this
weekend free plug on tune In Radio's Big Twelve Game Day,
our Saturday preview show. Carter's going to be the analyst
for this week. And Carter would come and probably kiss
you because he believes in rock Chalk this week as well,

(22:30):
you'll definitely high five you or do a somersault that
he likes the Jayhawks here at Columbia. I said to him,
did you ever get in a game with Missouri? He said,
I did not play the one year we played Missouri.
After all the switching here where Missouri has gone to
the SEC and Kansas was in the Big twelve. He said,
I never got to play against those. You know what's

(22:51):
we'll see what happens here with Jalen Daniels and Rock
Chalk two thirty Central in Columbia, Missouri, three thirty Eastern
time for Kansas and Miszoo. We look forward to that one.
They used to be old Big eight rivals.

Speaker 4 (23:04):
You're right quick shout out to our guy Tyler Jones
to the KU alone as well. So check it out Tyler, the.

Speaker 3 (23:11):
Rock Chalk Jayhawk. And I asked him, I said, are
you able to get up to Columbia? He goes, God, no,
I'm not going to be up there. He was at
the opener with Fresno State Laddy. Tyler Jones of the
Jones Report and the Pod. He was at the opening
win in Lawrence as he's an alumni of KU. Let's see,
let's see what happens there for save well, you just

(23:34):
want it within a touchdown within the six and a
half there with Miszoo, who put a lot of points
on the board against the suspect team last week. It
is three dog Thursday.

Speaker 2 (23:42):
And again, if.

Speaker 3 (23:43):
You're looking for the tickets on the secondary market right now,
you're not gonna go. We're going to talk about Ou
and Michigan a little later at the end of the show.
You're not going to get into Norman and Memorial Stadium
with two tickets for the better seats for under three
hundred bucks. Good luck, So take the twenty bucks off.
You see it on the screen here on Winning Cures
Everything's Platforms. WCEE twenty saves you twenty dollars off that

(24:05):
order of three hundred dollars or more. It's gonna be
a tough ticket for Mazoo and in Kansas, like you're
talking about. Always a tough ticket in Eugene at Outside
Stadium for Oregon and Oklahoma State. You know, likewise, these
bigger matchups all over the country. We look forward to

(24:25):
everything that's going to happen Iowa State, Iowa, the Pharmagetton game.

Speaker 4 (24:30):
In Gainesville, us F Florida.

Speaker 3 (24:32):
Good luck with getting the better seats for under three
hundred bucks. Twenty dollars off your order w C twenty
and Jason used that promo code as.

Speaker 2 (24:39):
Much as you want. As Gary was saying to think
smart check games.

Speaker 4 (24:43):
You can use it for anything, NFL.

Speaker 3 (24:45):
Week one of the NFL concerts, Baseball playoffs coming up again,
anything you want to use it for. Use it as
much as you want. A lot of these ticket outlets,
you can only use the promo code one time ever. Ever,
use WC each twenty as ma many times as you want.
With tickets Smarter, the ticket Smarter mobile app thinks smarter
ticket smarter. Shall we move on you and I let's

(25:08):
do that, and let's talk underdog number two from me.
Let's go late night. Well, you know, at least prime time. Blacksburg, Virginia. Hoki, hokey,
hokey Hi. They're the boys from VPI. It is Virginia
Tech hosting Vanderbilt. Do I see the Commodores as a
short underdog? I believe I do. And again we mention

(25:29):
this all the time for three dog Thursday purposes. The
Thursday line is showing Vanderbilt right now getting a point
and a half.

Speaker 2 (25:35):
Give it to me.

Speaker 3 (25:36):
If that line switches and Vandy becomes a favorite after
three dogs, there's nothing we can do about that.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
Jason. We're here on Thursday.

Speaker 3 (25:43):
On Thursday, baby, If the if the line goes up
after Thursday goes down. This is the price. The price
is Vanderbilt plus the one and a half. Vandy got
an opening win. Virginia Tech took the loss on Sunday
to South Carolina in Atlanta in the made for TV
game ACC versus SEC. A shorter week for them, they
are at home. But you and I are big on

(26:04):
Diego Pavia and the Vanderbilt quarterback and the Commodores.

Speaker 2 (26:09):
Give me a little more on on Vandy.

Speaker 4 (26:11):
Here about is this about a seventh year of eligibility.
He suited the NC Double A and got an extra
year and all that. But again back to kind of
what we talked about with rock o'beck. Pavia just figures
out ways to win games. If he's got to run
for a bunch, he'll do it. If he's got to
throw it. We saw what they did to Alabama last year.
Clark Lee doing a really good job building that Vanderbilt program.

(26:32):
And again, tough loss for Virginia Tech over the weekend,
short week. You know they they were in that game
for most of that game. The kind of game turned
on that punt return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
But again, can can Rent Pride who's under some heat.
Kind of an under the radar guy that's now under
some heat up in Blacksburg. He needs to win this game. Pavia.

(26:55):
I know you. I know there's some brothers that gotten
some issues with the with the with thet the weekend Listen.

Speaker 3 (27:02):
Pavia threw for two seventy five and three touchdowns last
week against Charleston Southern, but he wasn't the Pavia that
was in the news more so than his brothers. One
brother got into a fight with a concession worker at
Vanderbilt's Memorial Stadium, and the second brother, like the WWE
tagged in to go after the security guards and the

(27:23):
cops while they're trying to arrest brother number one. It
was a twofer that both Pavia brothers taken to the
clink in Nashville. No word on whether they're going to
be in Blacksburg or not. Stay tuned, But I like
Vanderbilt here in this spot as the SEC team. With
what Clark Lee is building, I think they can potentially

(27:44):
obviously I do win this game outright getting a point
and a half.

Speaker 2 (27:48):
Give me Vandy.

Speaker 3 (27:49):
This is on the ACC Network at seven thirty Eastern,
six thirty Central time for Vanderbilt in Virginia Tech. Any
final thought on that matchup. The SEC had some success
against the last weekend.

Speaker 4 (28:01):
No doubt, no doubt. But again this is a good
measuring stick for both teams, the middle of the road
SEC team ACC team. Again, I think important game for
Brent Prye because the heat will turn up significantly if
he goes zero to two after the last couple of years.
And again I'd give the quarterback edge to Pavia. That
offensive line for vanderbiltch has been really good the last
couple of years running the ball, so balance game. Keep

(28:23):
an eye on this game again home opener up in Blacksburg.
They'll be hyped up there. But I'm with you. I
think in a close one late field goal, give me Vandy.

Speaker 2 (28:33):
You agree with me on three Dog Thursday?

Speaker 4 (28:34):
Do you?

Speaker 2 (28:35):
Jason Powers?

Speaker 3 (28:35):
I like that we had a couple of more underdogs
each Why don't we do this?

Speaker 2 (28:40):
We need to plug away.

Speaker 3 (28:41):
Jason does a great job with the Florida Football Insiders podcast.
Look at me digitally, help promote here on the program
as we do this live.

Speaker 2 (28:51):
Wherever you get.

Speaker 3 (28:52):
Podcasts, look for Florida Football Insiders. That is a brother
podcast here just like three Dog Thursday, the Winning Cears
every Thing platform with the podcast go find this. I mean,
last week you were right on it with Jeff Coolhayne,
the voice of the Florida State Seminoles. Prior to the
upset with Alabama Joseph Gacky, the voice of the Miami Hurricanes.
You had them both on the preview show and the

(29:13):
Canes knockoff Notre Dame I Knew You and Mark Moses
this week are breaking down those upsets and looking ahead
of the games this week Florida Football Insiders. Locate that
podcast here for the Winning Cures audience. Jason does a
great job anything in the state of Florida college football
from Florida to Florida State to Miami to the University

(29:34):
of South Florida, usf.

Speaker 2 (29:35):
UCF in Orlando, Scott Frost.

Speaker 3 (29:38):
Whatever with Florida Atlantic, Florida International, if it happens in
Florida college football, Florida Football Insiders with My Man Powers.
Wherever you get the podcast, How did I Go?

Speaker 4 (29:50):
We'll even talk a little NFL football in the state
of Florida with the NFL started with the Bucks, Dolphins
and Finns too.

Speaker 3 (29:55):
All right, So anything with Florida Football Insiders, but in
particular we love the college football tip. We got USF
and Florida that we're gonna have to talk about here
in a few moments. Stand by about that again. It
is three dog Thursday. You've given me two underdogs here
to this point. Go ahead and give me doggy number three.
What do we like coming here? And why please?

Speaker 4 (30:19):
We're going to the SEC A little rematch from twenty
twenty four, A little SEC Big twelve beef. Last year,
a team that was supposed to be the last in
their conference ended up to the College Football Playoff. Kenny
Dillingham and the Arizona State Sun Devils with Levitt, you
had scataboo last year. They hosted Mississippi State in Jeff

(30:42):
Levy's kind of year one experiment in Starkville. Shout out
to our guy Mike Grace.

Speaker 2 (30:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (30:48):
The return match in stark Vegas this weekend. Arizona State
won last year thirty to twenty three. This game is
back in Starkville this week. This week you saw to
State go to Southern Myss. A lot of people thought
that might be upset alert. Last week in Hattiesburg, they
took care of business against Southern Myss. This game is
in Hattiesburg. I mean, I'm sorry in Starkville. Six and

(31:11):
a half points coming to an SEC team. Hard not
to take an SEC team getting six and a half
at home. I know Arizona State's good, Sam Levitt's back
at quarterback, but you got no scataboo. They struggled a
little bit last week with Northern Arizona, did not extend
that game until later in that.

Speaker 2 (31:27):
Game, problems putting them away.

Speaker 3 (31:30):
Yeah, Northern Arizona got a couple of touchdowns in the
second half.

Speaker 2 (31:33):
They won, but they didn't dominate in that game.

Speaker 4 (31:37):
Yes, absolutely, you could have a humid, humid day in
the South here in the Deep South in Starkville. I
know it's hot in Arizona, but not the humidity that
they're used to that you're gonna get in that you're
gonna get into Mississippi. I just think this is a
spot here where Mississippi State can stay in the game.
I don't know if they can win the game outright,
but again, I like Jeff Levy. Blake Shapin the quarterback

(32:00):
there played well last week at Southern Myss. He I
think he came from Baylor a couple of years.

Speaker 3 (32:07):
Shaping was at Baylor. He played some of the time,
not all the time at Baylor. Had two seventy in
the air, a touchdown in the air, and a touchdown
on the ground.

Speaker 2 (32:16):
Interesting because there's a lot of heights.

Speaker 4 (32:19):
Baby.

Speaker 2 (32:19):
All right, there's a lot of hype around Arizona State.

Speaker 3 (32:22):
Did you see the Kenny Dillingham comment about having to
come to Starkville and play the game? And he said, well,
one of the challenges was finding a hotel. Yes, that
was not connected to a casino. Yes, but they're staying
nineteen minutes away. I don't know whether they're staying whether
that's in Jackson or whether that's in Birmingham. Again, it's

(32:44):
it's in eastern Mississippi. Starkville not easy to get to,
but the sun Devils have got to be there. This
is six thirty Central time, coming on Saturday night on
ESPN two.

Speaker 2 (32:54):
You say, hail State.

Speaker 3 (32:56):
Here on three Dog three, give them to me, give
me the points for that underdog. All right, one more
underdog to go for me. And this is under the
category of we do this a lot on three Dog Thursday.
How are they favored? Jason, I'm just gonna put it
up on the screen. How is UCLA favored against anybody?

(33:19):
Much less on the road at UNLV. I know the
odds makers are trying to get like equal betting. And
if you if you made UNLV the three point favorite
or the four and a half point favorite, nobody probably
bets on the game. So maybe maybe you're seeing us
and maybe the number is now like two, or it's one,
or it's even or UNLV's even favored. But for three

(33:41):
dog Thursday, UNLV off of a win last week over
sam Houston State. Now, I know they had trouble in
the opening game of the season. They had some problems
with Idaho's day. That was a week zero game. They
were better last week. Yep, they've got the what they've
got to transfer quarterback for you And I'll get the
name in a second, and maybe you know the name

(34:03):
forgetting the first year coach Deshaun Foster. By the way,
he's got Nico. I am male Leva, the quarterback from Tennessee.
He looked shaky last week. Utah blew them out. I
see again, brother Powers. How is UCLA favored here on
three dog Thursday on the road?

Speaker 2 (34:21):
I don't understand this? Can you help me.

Speaker 4 (34:23):
I would think I would think from the public's perspective,
big time, big, big city loss, l A u C
l A, big ten against Mountain West rebuilding UNLV. I
think that's the public perception is, Oh, UCLA will figure
it out, so we got to make them the favorite.
But yes, UCLA looked very shaky last week. Nico, you

(34:45):
wonder at some point down the road, is he gonna
regret kind of making the power play that he made
at Tennessee to get out of there over a couple
million bucks. This is this, This is one you got
to be very careful of. Dan Mullen. We knows he's
won games at multiple places. Tough, tough, tough again.

Speaker 3 (35:05):
Anthony Calandrea is the quarterback who was at Virginia. Calandrea
ended up having a good game last week through for
two ran for another one in the win at Sam
Houston State. They looked much better in that game. Mullen
obviously former big time coach, not only at Florida, but
he had Mississippi State, speaking of Hale State with some
guy named Dak Prescott, and they were number one in

(35:27):
the country for a couple of weeks. So Mullen has
proved himself in the SEC in the past. What is
Deshaun Foster proven as a coach? I know they won
two or three games at the end of last season,
but they were only a favorite twice last year, and
they lost both games as a favorite last year. I

(35:49):
don't understand how their favorite at Allegiance Stadium. This is
five Pacific times, Saturday night, eight Eastern time on the
CBS Sports Network. Give me the Rebels, give me Dan
Mullen to go three and oh with a win over.

Speaker 4 (36:02):
U c l A.

Speaker 3 (36:03):
Who's not what they were even a few years ago.
Chip Kelly kind of had them going. But if you
even go back before chip Kelly, whatever else that you
had there, Carl Durrell and else, I'm trying to remember
whoever else.

Speaker 4 (36:18):
Before chip Kelly. I can't even think of who is Yeah, I.

Speaker 3 (36:20):
Mean, UCLA has kind of been on an odyssey for
a few years trying to figure it all out. So
Rick Neuheisel as well in the two thousand, So let's see.

Speaker 2 (36:31):
Let's see. But I think it's.

Speaker 3 (36:33):
UNLV out of the out of the Mountain West that
will get the win outright, I'll take the three points
as a gift on three Dog Thursday again. We're percolating
along here on the program again. Final few moments here
on three Dog Thursday on the Winning Cures Everything platform.
As we rock along, I'll go ahead and put this

(36:55):
back up again. I want you to give me a
couple of thoughts on a couple of the bigger games
we're in the state of Florida. You were talking about
this on the Florida Football Insiders podcast us FF South
Florida and Tampa.

Speaker 2 (37:06):
Missus Reeves is a bull that the Bulls at Florida.

Speaker 4 (37:13):
Yep, all right.

Speaker 3 (37:14):
They've played this game a couple of times in a
three game series. Us haf not really competitive in either game.
They were a little better in the game in Gainesville
back three years ago, and I had Florida on the ropes.
That was Dan Mullen, right, that was still Dan Mullen,
I think before he went to ESPN in that final year.

(37:36):
All right, Florida demolished Long Island last year. You and
I were together. We were watching some of that game
with DJ Lagway at quarterbacks. That got some good running
backs USF with Byron Brown the big running quarterback. They're
athletic on defense, Bulls getting seventeen and a half. Did
you almost take us haf here for three dog Thursday?

Speaker 4 (37:55):
I thought about it. I did again. Impressive performance by
USF against Boys last week kind of pushed them around.
You know, I wonder can Byron Brown in the passing
game get things done in the passing game. We know
he's a good runner, but again, Florida's got a pretty
good front seven. I worry about USF in the passing game,
and I also worry about Alex Golish his recklessness. He

(38:16):
goes forward way too much and at some of the
most inopportune times on the field. He went forward on
his own thirty five last week against Boise. I didn't
love that.

Speaker 2 (38:24):
They got it was in the first quarter.

Speaker 4 (38:26):
What is that was playing well.

Speaker 3 (38:29):
His own thirty something yard line. You're empowering the other team.
If you don't make it, I know you got them.

Speaker 4 (38:33):
Intell like that. I didn't like that one bit. I
think Florida again, the balance. I think you're seeing. They've
got a good running back Lagway. They've got some receivers.
I know they've played Long Island, but they got some
players at receiver and tight end.

Speaker 3 (38:46):
Me submit to you because you and I have been
talking about this off the air. Let's put it on
three Dog Thursday here on the winning Curs Everything platforms
that what USF did to Boise State was bully them
up front, offensive line and defensive line. Is it not
a concern, if not a fear, that Florida may very
well do the same thing to the Bulls on Saturday

(39:07):
here and wear them down and blow down both sides
of the.

Speaker 4 (39:10):
Ball, No doubt, no doubt. Again, if you're USF, you
want to again, this is not his style of play.
You got to figure out a way to stay on
the field longer. On the offensive side, if you're Alex Golis,
you can't go three and out, three and out, three
and out and expose that defense to the power and
the beef of Florida. On the front line, they've got
really good running backs and Jayden ball Lagway is a runner.

(39:32):
And then if they can if they can run the
ball set up, that sets up that play action boom
over the top stuff and they've got plenty of good
I worry about USF. I don't think USF's gonna win
the game. Could I see them back dooring it, losing
by fourteen or sixteen points. I could, but I don't
think USF can win the game.

Speaker 3 (39:51):
All right, So you did not play that one as
one of your three underdogs. There's some thoughts on that one.
And while we're here, the primetime game on ABC UH
with Chris Fowler, Kirkirbstreet and company doing it, it may
not be falor maybe Rheese Davis again because Fowler's doing it.

Speaker 4 (40:06):
Radio will be there.

Speaker 3 (40:08):
So it's Oklahoma and Michigan. Am I crazy that Michigan
who looked pretty good. Bryce Underwood, the phenom quarterback freshman,
he looked pretty good against New Mexico last week. Oklahoma
had a cake walk in their opening game. But Michigan
getting five here is interesting.

Speaker 4 (40:26):
What do I know?

Speaker 3 (40:28):
But that seems a little high, and that number may
even be a little better for if you're back in
the Wolverines, you might get a six. You might I'm
just saying this by Friday, by Saturday morning, you might
get a six or a six and a half or
something like that. Seems a little high to me, Jason,
for Saturday night in Norman.

Speaker 4 (40:44):
I'm gonna go the other way on this one. I
think you're going to see a similar thing as you
saw with Arch manning last weekend first road game true
freshman again, Arch has a little more experience than Underwood,
But I worry about Underwood in Norman. Venables as a
very creative defensive coordinator. He will have some exotic stuff.
And you're also going to be playing a team in

(41:05):
Oklahoma who's got a big time quarterback John Mattier who
they brought over from Washington State and will be able
to score points. I don't think Michigan is quite as
good on defense as they've been, and I worry about
Michigan's ability to throw the ball in Norman. Justice Haynes
had a really good game the former Alabama running back
from Michigan last week, but I worry about Underwood's inexperience

(41:26):
and first road start in a monster environment in Norman.

Speaker 3 (41:30):
Saturday night, they clawbird well clad They beat Illinois State
thirty five to three. This ain't Illinois State. With Michigan
coming in. Gary had the stat. By the way, Wolverines
in their last four games against the SEC have covered
in every one of them, including the game we did
in the rely request Yeah back on December thirty first.
With Michigan having several players their top two Rushers opted

(41:54):
out of the game. They still beat Alabama outright as
like a fifteen or sixteen point under all in that
so Michigan has had some success against the SEC. Do
we really call this the SEC Oklahoma second year in
the SEC? Stay tuned Primetime, ESPN or ABC Primetime ABC
Saturday Night for Michigan and for Oklahoma. That pretty well

(42:18):
wraps what we have here. Because I went to all
of this trouble, I'm gonna put the graphics up on
the screen one more time again. Jason will go through
it has Iowa against Iowa State in game number one
and underdog number one in that game the big noon
kickoff game on Fox at noon Eastern time eleventh Central Time.
I took Oklahoma State out at Oregon. This could get ugly,

(42:41):
but I think they keep it close enough. This is
the CBS twelve thirty Pacific three thirty Eastern time game
Kansas and Missouri in Columbia home game for Miszoo. Jason
likes rock chalk in the afternoon. I took Vandy on
Saturday night in Blacksburg at Virginia Town, getting a short
point and a half in that matchup SEC against ACC.

(43:04):
Jason rapped with Mississippi State as an SEC team at home.
It's a six and a half point doggy against Arizona
State and I took.

Speaker 2 (43:12):
Why in the world is UNLV and underdog?

Speaker 3 (43:14):
I took three points with UCLA and the matchup in
Las Vegas at Allegiant Stadium on Saturday. Other than that,
anything else, my friend on three Dog Thursday, are we good?

Speaker 4 (43:25):
We are good to go? Let's go six and oh,
