On the latest editon of the show, host T.J. Rives has survived (with millions of others) the devastating Hurricane Milton which barreled through the West coast of Florida on Wednesday night/Thursday morning. And, he's ready to recount and update it all and then, talk some College Football Underdogs, too.

What Friday night pooch in the Big 12 stands out and why? Also, in the epic football showdown that takes place annually in Dallas, why does he like Oklahoma, as the Sooners are such a significant underdog? There's actually data that shows a large double digit doggie in this series against the Texas Longhorns has success!

Then, he goes into depth on the now Big Ten battle with Oregon hosting Ohio State. Hear his thougts on the rarity of the Ducks being a home hound and is Ohio State really tested at this point?

It's all part of "Three Dog Thursday" here and the video show on Youtube. Plus, make sure to follow/subscribe for this pod on Apple, Spreaker, Spotify, etc.!

Speaker 1 (00:07):
Football fans, it's time to go on the record with
this week's matchups in pro and college football. With just
one catch. We're only interested in underdog who can keep
it close, if not pull the outright upset. Time to
find out. It's three Dog Thursday. Now here's your host,

(00:27):
TJ Reeve.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
All right, everybody, welcome in to the newest edition of
three Dog Thursday. And man, this is wild how all
of this has come about. I am the somewhat capable host,
TJ Reeves. Somewhat capable because it has been a crazy
time in West central Florida, with Hurricane Milton having barreled
through just south of the area where I live in

(00:52):
North Tampa, actually probably about sixty seventy miles south. Hurricane
Milton made landfall late Wednesday evening around nine pm, made
landfall about seventy miles to the south of me in
the area just south of Sarasota, Florida. And again we

(01:12):
suffered effects of this for the better part of about
twelve hours leading up to the actual hurricane making landfall
and the aftermath of it shooting across West central Florida.
So I'm just happy to be with you. I can
tell you that for my wife, my family, and me
my twin daughters. We have not had power since ten

(01:32):
pm Eastern time on Wednesday night. We have now relocated
for a little while to my in law's house, yes
three dog Thursday, from TJ's in law's house, because they
do have power in Hillsborough County. They're about fifteen minutes
south of us. They have power. So I'm able to
be with you live because we were not going to
be denied to give you some college football underdogs against

(01:54):
the number. Now you're saying, where is Gary Seekers, the purveyor,
the owner of the operator of Winning Cares Everything dot com.
He's got a previous obligation and was not able to
be here, but he did set everything up for this
to happen here on the Winning Cures Everything platform, the
Winning Cures YouTube page. So in Gary's absence, I am

(02:16):
still here to give you three underdogs against the number. Now.
We had a rough week last week, the only one
that came through out of us swinging and missing. Gary
had Boston College. Gary had Missouri. It was tough on those.
I had Iowa and Iowa obviously got blown out by
Ohio State. Missouri got destroyed at Texas A and M.
But I did have Cal in a late night game.

(02:36):
I still can't figure out five days later, speaking of Hurricanes,
how did they give up that lead in Berkeley to
the Miami Hurricanes. The you just pulling one rabbit out
of the hat after another after the fail Mary hail
Mary reversal of the call that gives them the win
against Virginia Tech when it looked like Virginia Tech had
caught the hail Mary for the win. They get that
last week two weeks ago, and then last weekend against

(02:59):
Cal they come back from twenty five down in the
second half to win. Still, Cal was a cover at
plus ten and a half. So we're just looking for
three college football underdogs simply to cover. They don't have
to win whatever the line is on Thursday, and I've
been able to check the lines here a little while ago.
I felt strongly about these. And by the way, Gary
does a great job, as we often plug with Parker

(03:21):
and Kyle on the bet Us TV College Football Show.
He's giving out favorites, underdogs totals. You'll see his picks there.
You'll get his picks as well here on winning cures
as platforms on the Winning Cures Everything dot com website
as well as his YouTube page. You'll see his picks.
I'll just give you three underdogs while we sit here.
By the way, feel free to give me some comments

(03:44):
if you like. If the comments are coming in, I'll
maybe see a couple of those as we go along
live on the platforms here of Winning Cures Everything, including
the social media. While I do this on the fly,
we might as well see if I can't share this
out so that everybody can see it, et cetera, et

(04:04):
cetera through the Winning Cures platform. I'm gonna go ahead
and do that live on the show as we're live
here on the broadcast, and I'm double checking and trying
to make sure that it's going out, and even in
the event that it's not going out, that's okay. We'll
share it out and we'll get more people to see
it after the fact. You can follow Gary obviously right

(04:27):
here on this platform at Winning Cures, also at Gary WCE,
and you can follow me as well at Buck Sideline Guy,
buc Buck Sideline Guy there for that. So there you go.
And Gary has built all of this in so that
you can see that we're brought to you by ticket
Smarter and the promo codes that are there. Some great

(04:48):
action obviously coming up this weekend, and we encourage you
to use our friends at ticket smart and the ticket
smart mobile app. Again, I'll tell you a little more
about them in a little bit. Why don't we get
into some underdogs, And I'm not gonna wait very long
after this three Dog Thursday episode, I'm looking at a
Friday night underdog. This is in the Big twelve and
it suddenly is a very relevant matchup for the utah Utes.

(05:08):
When last we saw them, they were beaten by the
Arizona Wildcats at home, a surprise upset. We know their
quarterback Cam Rising has not been able to play injured
fingers on his throwing hand ever since the Baylor game
over a month ago, and they've played cat and mouse
games with will he play, is he not gonna play? Etc.
He didn't play again against Arizona. They got away with

(05:29):
it the first couple of times and won a couple
of games, including a very impressive win at Oklahoma State
at the time, although Oklahoma State now doesn't look very good.
They're zero to three in conference play. But then Arizona
stuffed them. Stuffed the run game with Bernard the running back,
made the backup quarterback Isaac Wilson try to beat him.
He couldn't do it. They ran the ball on Utah.
And so now we have this game off a bye

(05:51):
week for Utah on a Friday night in Timpe at
the old Sun Devil Stadium, where Arizona State a week
ago was a winner over Kansas in a in a
great finish where Kansas once again threw away a fourth
quarter lead to drop to one in five with five
straight losses, but Arizona State took it from him. Sam
Levitt the quarterback, Skataboo the running back. So underdog number

(06:12):
one is a Friday night Big twelve underdog and I've
even brought my own visual aids here. Gary will be
proud of me. Give me Sun Devils plus the three
and a half. You see it right there on three
Dog Thursday where post Hurricane Milton, I will go Asu
on Friday night in the Big twelve matchup with Utah
at home. I simply need to win. I get a

(06:34):
field goal plus a hook. In this situation, loud crowd
will be a factor. What an atmosphere I've been in
that atmosphere before when they upset Washington in the Pac
twelve when Washington under Chris Peterson was in the top ten.
That place can rock. I'll shout out one of my colleagues,
Tyler Jones of The Jones Report and Chat Sports. Tyler
does a great job talking college football and Big Twelve.

(06:57):
He's one of my colleagues. Tyler was there also at
Kansas Grad. He was there last Saturday night and he
said that place was rocking and loud and tough to
hear and an influence for Arizona State. I think it's
the same thing Friday night against Utah one more time
on my prop give me the sun Devils for underdog
number one on three Dog Thursday. Sun Devils plus the

(07:18):
three and a half. This is like old school nineteen
seventies TV with the pointer, etc. Great stuff on that. Okay,
so there's one underdog, and there's such a bevy of
games going on on Saturday on all the different platforms.
But the one that I always love to gravitate to
is the Red River rivalry game between Oklahoma and Texas.

(07:40):
I had the privilege of being at this game now
some seventeen years ago for Ou and Texas Bob Stoops
and Company against MATC. Brown and Company in that version
of it. And got to be around the old coach
Barry Switzer, the Hall of Fame coach, the former national
title winning coach of the Sooners, the Super Bowl winning
coach of the Dallas Cowboys. For very seventieth birthday, he

(08:02):
is now eighty seven years young. And here's what I
know about this little original research on this. This is
a widespread in Oklahoma and Texas. And I know why
because Oklahoma has struggled some early on in the year.
Tennessee obviously beat them decisively earlier in the year. Brent
Vinnables has gone to a different quarterback, the quarterback Hawkins,

(08:25):
interested to see what he can do. He won their
game two weeks ago with Auburn, and so now they
come off the bye week. Interesting that since two thousand,
there have been eight previous occasions where either Oklahoma or
Texas has been favored by at least ten points. Texas
is favored by sixteen and a half. Here that favorite
is two and six in the Red River rivalry. That

(08:48):
is a compelling number. Now one in five of that
is Oklahoma and obviously one in one in that situation.
Ats is Texas as a double digit favorite. But I
go back to a couple of reference points where Texas
was a sixteen and a half point favorite in twenty
fifteen under Mack Brown, and they won the game outright

(09:10):
twenty four to seventeen. And that might have actually been
Charlie Strong in the in the twenty fifteen game as
a sixteen and a half point underdog. Then you go
back to twenty thirteen and it was Mac Brown is
a thirteen and a half point underdog they won decisively
over Stoops in company. Was that Colt McCoy, I believe
around that time in twenty thirteen it might very well

(09:31):
have been thirty six twenty they won the game. So
Texas has a couple of double digit outright wins in
this century. In this series. I think, however, it is
Oklahoma's turn. I know that Quinn Ewers may be back
at quarterback. I know that arch Manning is winning in
the wings, the nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning, the

(09:51):
grandson of Archie Manning. But I think with Hawkins the quarterback,
I know this receivers at Dion Burks is questionable to play.
There's reports out there that he made not play. Maybe
Brent Vivennables wants it out there that is best receivers
not playing, just to try to fool the Horns. Half
the stadium is Crimson, half the stadium is Orange. Give
me once again the Sooners. As I have my prop,

(10:12):
I gotta get my camera straight. Sooners plus sixteen and
a half in the Red River rivalry. It is quite
a scene at the Texas State Fair with the big
Ferris wheel, the corny dogs that everybody eats. They renew
the hostilities. It's an SEC game.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
Now.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
Remember, for so many years Oklahoma was in the Big Eight,
Texas was in the Southwest Conference. Those of you that
are under thirty years old and think college football began
in nineteen ninety eight. This thing used to be Switzer
against Fred Acres or Daryl Royal back in the day
when the Big Eight would play the Southwest Conference, and
they were together in the Big twelve up until this year.

(10:47):
Now it's an SEC game, and I like Oklahoma and
again this is the national game on ESPN and ABC
on ABC's SEC coverage the Southeastern Conference coverage on ABC
Central time three thirty Eastern time. One more time with
my prop give me sooners in the Red River rivalry game.
How am I going right now with all of my

(11:10):
u with all of my props. I think I think
we're pretty good on that. Again, we're live on the
Three Dog Thursday program. Again. This is post Hurricane Milton.
You see my studio setup is if the normal studio
set up. This is the patio of the in laws house.
They do have functioning power, they do have functioning internet.
So I'm able to be here in North Tampa Again,

(11:30):
overnight there were over one point five million residents in Hillsboro,
which is Tampa and Panela, Saint Pete and Clearwater without power.
So the mere fact that I'm able to be here
with you have some electricity. I don't know when the
power is going to be back on at my place,
and for and for tens of thousands of others. It
has been a struggle so far. And that's not the

(11:52):
biggest concern. The biggest concern is obviously flooding and the
damage to homes and businesses all up and down the
west coast of Florida. This is the second significant hurricane
in two weeks. Hurricane Helene didn't even make landfall here
on the Florida West coast. It actually shot up the
west coast and hooked into the Big Bend of Florida,
right by Tallahassee and Perry, Florida. In this case, it

(12:16):
was a direct hit south of Tampa Bay, south of
Sarasota in the Siesta Key area near Venice, Florida, about
forty miles south of Saint Petersburg. As you visualize the
west coast of Florida. Still we had effect of winning rain. Folks.
There were thirteen to fourteen inches of rain in my
part of northern Hillsborough County in a single night, a

(12:39):
foot plus of rain. So the flooding it's been awful.
So this is a good diversion here for three dog
Thursday on the winning cures everything platforms. By the way,
you see our sponsored ticket smarter And I'm talking about
these different games. At Arizona State Utah game. What is
it Mountain America Stadium, I believe is now the name
of it, Old Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe. If you're
trying to go to that game and get the best tickets.

(13:00):
The Cotton Bowl for Texas and Oklahoma, if you're trying
to go to any of these different games. Alabama's back home,
smarting off the loss against Vanderbilt. They play South Carolina.
If you're trying to go to that game, swing out
to the LA Coliseum for USC and Penn State, any
of these college football games. Use ticket Smarter, the ticket
Smarter mobile app. You see the promo codes on the screen.
Single ticket probably going to still cost you significantly if

(13:23):
you spend one hundred dollars or more, use WC ten
and take ten bucks off with the promo code here
from Winning Cures. But if you're looking for a couple
of the best seats, like I'm about to talk about
Oregon and Ohio State and Eugene, you're not getting two
great seats to that game for under three hundred bucks.
Use the promo code on the screen right down below
WCEE twenty and take twenty bucks off. Tell your friends,

(13:43):
tell acquaintances if they're going to these games like Ole
Miss and LSU, for example, if they're going to that
one pick one of these outstanding matchups that are going
to be taking place. How about k State at Boulder
against Colorado, Use the promo code w C twenty Ticket Smarter.
Ticket Smarter Mobile app, Best prices on the secondary market.

(14:04):
Your purchase is safe and secure. It takes five minutes
to sign up and use that promo code. W C
twenty takes twenty bucks off an order of three hundred
dollars more get in the game, Think Smarter, Ticket Smarter
as a proud sponsor, on Winning Cures Everything, Carrey's Platform,
and three Dog Thursday. The one more underdog is Oregon.
So why why the Oregon dunks against Ohio State? They

(14:25):
looked invincible. I'm going right back at Ohio State after
Utah or I'm sorry, after Iowa did nothing last week.
I had the Hawkeyes plus twenty, but offensively, they couldn't
do anything in that game, even though it was a
fairly close game of the second half, and then Ohio
State broke it open. They got an interception return, had
another long run. They can certainly run the football. I mean,

(14:45):
Kirk Ferrett sabotaged his own team, by the way, when
he's calling time out right before the trick play punt
where they snapped it to the upback and they would
have gotten a first down. The official didn't blow the
whistle till the play's already being run. They would have
gotten the first down in Ferrence has the trick play
on and goes ahead and calls time out, and then
goes ahead and takes a delay a game and punts
the ball. What sense does that make sabotaging his own

(15:08):
trick play. I'm not saying that would have won them
the game, but maybe he keeps them in the game.
Down seven to nothing in the third quarter, so they
got wiped out. I think Oregon's got too much offense
with Dylan Gabriel the quarterback. They have a common opponent
Michigan State, recently, Ohio State, clobordom and East Lansing, Iowa
was up thirty one to nothing last week on them
in Eugene. I think Gabriel and those weapons will be enough.

(15:29):
How about this stat for these guys, I am gonna
go ducks here plus the three on Saturday night on
the NBC Primetime Big Ten Game. Oregon has not been
a home underdog since twenty eighteen. That's Mario Christobal as
the coach. You gotta go back that far to have
them as a home underdog. They won that game outright

(15:52):
with Washington. It is very rare that they have been
a home underdog. I'm getting points they only need to
win the game. This is only Ohio State game right
away from home early on in the season, hostile place
at Eugene. I think this is the Ducks to win
the game outright again, I'm going with a second Western
team just like Arizona State on Friday night to win

(16:12):
the game. So by means of review again, I'm gonna
go sun Devils first on Friday night. Let me get
all of my cards correct. Sun Devils First on Friday
night right there, plus the three and a half Sooners
on Saturday in the rivalry game with Texas plus sixteen
and a half. It's just too many points. And the

(16:33):
Oregon Ducks on Saturday night in the matchup with Ohio State.
That's now a big ten game.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
Go figure.

Speaker 2 (16:38):
I mean, we had enough trouble understanding Miami and Cal's
an ACC game last week. It's just strange. It's beyond strange.
By the way, that k State game, they're a favorite
on the road at Colorado Saturday night? Is Colorado for real?
Are they gonna shut everybody including me up once again
against a top twenty five team at home? I know
they shut a lot of people, including me up with

(17:00):
the win over UCF and Orlando. That was back two
weeks ago. They've had a buy a week case State
when last we saw them, just smacked Oklahoma State around
Avery Johnson the quarterback. Great quarterback matchup, Avery Johnson against
Shador Sanders. This is on ESPN Saturday night late. We're
interested in that one. I'm interested is Penn State gonna
stay undefeated at Southern Cal the Coliseum again for Brad

(17:21):
Nessler and Gary Danielson. We'll see, We'll see what happens
at the coliseum. USC already beat Wisconsin out there, but
they've lost a couple of road games at Michigan and
then lost in the closing seconds to Minnesota on the
quarterback sneak at the end of that game. Last week.
They're back home, they're getting points. I looked strongly at
Southern Cal. I didn't take them for three dog Thursday purposes.

(17:44):
I just gave you the three that I took for
this week. That's Arizona State, Oklahoma, and Oregon. Let's see
if those underdogs come through again. Beyond here for all
of the great content. Love what Gary does at Winning
Cares Everything dot Com. Obviously in the Winning Cures YouTube
page here as we cohabitate, as I like to say,
on Thursdays with him. Hopefully he's back with me next Thursday.

(18:06):
Hopefully I'm back under normal circumstances. After Hurricane Milton, it's
not going to be right in western Florida, west central Florida,
on the west coast of Florida, down in Sarasota, down
in the Venice area from this direct hit they took.
We didn't even take the direct hit again, sixty seventy
miles to the north and we got the tremendous wind

(18:28):
and rain bands gusts of ninety one hundred mile an
hour wins in the Tampa Bay area. It then slammed Orlando,
where UCF is trying to play Cincinnati on Saturday. In
my market, Memphis is supposed to play South Florida in Tampa.
That game for right now is still up in the air.
They're trying to play it Saturday afternoon at Raymond James Stadium,
But right now, Tampa International Airport's not even open. I

(18:48):
don't have it on any authority. The airport's not open.
We're not sure if Memphis can get here. How do
they stay? Is their power? All of those things? Can
they play the game at three thirty. They're going to
try to for South Florida. Memphis, Memphis Tigers, the alma
mater are still in the hunt in the American Conference,
need to win. USF's had some struggles as of late,
being beaten badly by Miami, beaten badly by Tulane, and

(19:10):
now they have to regroup off an off week. Let's
see what happens if that game can be played and
again uce F Cincinnati's at the same time in the
afternoon in Orlando right now as it's scheduled live on Thursday.
It is a mess. It is a mess in Florida.
Donate if you can, donate, time, effort, charitable organizations, whatever
it is, because there are millions in need from Hurricane
Helene and now Hurricane Milton over the last two three weeks.

(19:34):
And this is not gonna be solved in a couple
of weeks or a month. Just like up in the
Carolinas Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, the damage from Hurricane
Helene is not gonna be solved in October. It's not
even gonna probably be solved until the first of the year.
With infrastructure and loss of residences and businesses. It's it's
a nightmare, but this was therapeutic for me in some

(19:56):
ways to be hanging out on three Dog Thursday here
on the Winning Cares Everything platform. So again Arizona State, Oklahoma,
Oregon for the host. If you want Gary's underdogs and
his plays, he has the great content right here on
Winning Cures. Check those out. Check him out with Parker
Fleming and Kyle Hunter on the bet US College Football
Show on the bet US platforms and their YouTube page.
He's got plenty of picks everywhere on that. For now,

(20:18):
we are good. Hopefully everybody saw this and enjoyed it
like down below. Get the subscribe button if you have not.
Thank you for finding me here this afternoon while I
talk to some underdogs before Week seven of the college
football season on Free Dog Thursday.
