This episode of the Observers Notebook podcast Tim talks with Mars Geologist, Caitlin Ahrens who is a graduate of West Virginia University with bachelor of science degrees in Geology and Physics with an emphasis in Astrophysics. Caitlin entered the graduate program in Space and Planetary Science at the University of Arkansas in Fall 2015.

During our discussion we delve into various subject such as has the relative roles of wind, water, volcanism, tectonics, cratering and other processes have acted to form and modify the Martian surface? What can we expect from the upcoming InSight and Mars 2020 missions.
