Hey, it's John Justice here formy Nerd World and talking about my science
fiction space opera series, Embark, and we're on Embark the Rocket Queen book
five. Now, this kicks offan all new trilogy in my series,
and you can actually read it startingas a book one, with books five,
six, and seven together without havingread the rest of the series.
(00:22):
But like the rest of the series, I wanted these to feel unique.
While they are space operas set ina now colonized galaxy far far from Earth.
Right sounds like Star Wars, they'renot. I want them to have
the adventure and to have the thrilledexcitement of space operas like Star Wars,
but them to be specifically their ownthing, and to that point, each
(00:43):
adventure has a kind of a subgenreattached to it. For The Rocket Queen,
I really wanted this to have thatamblem adventure vibe and what we got
from Steven Spielberg films of My Youth. It's probably my favorite story in the
series, where our protagonist Luna endsup back on Earth and having to explore
(01:11):
an abandoned theme park which just happensto be Disneyland. It's an idea that
I had when I wrote book onein my series, but I saved it
because I really wanted to set thisparticular tale apart right. It's been two
decades since the catastrophic chain of eventsforced humanity to abandon Earth. When the
origins of an unprovoked attack on theUnited Galaxy Coalition lead back to the evacuees'
(01:37):
home world, a reconnaissance team onboard in advanced Starship is sent to investigate.
During their journey, mission leader andStarfighter pilot Luna Guardia, discovers the
sins of the past have put themission in peril, threatening the colonized world
safeties now safety. Now, she'sstuck in the middle of a nefarious plot
that only she can unravel. Whois the Rocket Queen and what is she
(02:00):
after? Luna must find out beforeit's too late. She ends up at
the abandoned theme park, only tofind survivors living there and she's taken hostage.
I love Disneyland. It's my favoriteplace on Earth, and I thought
what better place to go and seta majority of a story of a space
opera at Disneyland and specifically Galaxy's Edge. So I don't want to give anything
(02:23):
