(00:03):
It's my nerd World and a spaceopera podcast. So what does the space
opera. It's a novel, movie, or television program set in outer space,
typically of a simplistic or melodramatic nature. And this is the podcast where
we discuss all things relating to spaceoperas my nerd World. I'm your host,

(00:41):
John Justice here on my nerd World, a space opera podcast, And
this is a short trailer preview forwhat you can expect in the coming weeks
from a space opera podcast. Now, if you've subscribed to this channel already,
you're probably wondering what in the heckhappened? This was a self publishing
podcast. I am a author,I am a podcaster. I'm a radio

(01:06):
talk show host. And along withthis podcast, I also do a Star
Wars podcast, my nerd World,a Star Wars podcast, and also a
Depeche Mode podcast. These are thethings that I loved in my life,
and a number of years ago Idecided to tackle the idea of writing a
space opera, inspired by George Lucasand the science fiction movies and stories of

(01:29):
my youth, and that has turnedinto the Embarked Space Opera science fiction series
that is available at my nerdworld dotnet and Amazon dot com under John j
Owen Justice. And so with that, I decided to start a self publishing
podcast. There's a lot of publishingpodcasts out there, and I was having
difficulty finding a self publishing podcast thatkind of spoke to a writer like me.

(01:57):
I have a couple of books undermy belt. I'm still trying to
make my way. I do havesome name recognition because of my twenty five
years as being a radio talk showhost, but I'm still very much learning
about the industry. And there's alot of great podcasts that are that are
out there. There was one thatI used to listen to or I would
probably listen to all their podcasts, and it was the science fiction and fantasy
marketing podcasts. But they've now kindof morphed into this six figure author podcast

(02:23):
which are great. They're great podcasts, they have a lot of really valuable
information. But I wasn't really finding, you know, information for a person
like me who's just starting out inin doing self publishing. And so I
started these self publishing podcasts and Iwill leave those particular episodes up and my

(02:43):
intention was to chronicle my journey asan author. Well, Unfortunately, as
I started doing that podcast, Irealized that, you know what that's that
requires a lot of details and efforton my part to provide worthy information to
you if you're looking at becoming anauthor. And I realized that I didn't

(03:05):
want to do a disservice. Ididn't want to do a disservice to individuals
who were who were downloading my podcastto get self publishing information in news,
because that wasn't really what I wantedto talk about. It is difficult becoming
a new author, there's no doubtabout that. And I am learning and
I will provide in this new podcasta section where I will talk about self

(03:29):
publishing, but it's going to beincluded in a broader, more content entertainment
focused podcast about the genre of spaceopera. In upcoming episodes, i'll discuss
you know, exactly what entails aspace opera. There's a lot of different

(03:49):
definitions. It's very subjective depending onwho you are listening to. Like right
now, I'm looking at a listof like space opera books, and you've
got Enders Game and Dune and ofcourse Star Wars. But there's an element
of cyberpunk in a lot of thesestories, there's an element of science fantasy,
and a lot of these stories. There's a lot of post apocalyptic and

(04:13):
apocalyptic subgenres within space opera, andthat's what I really want to get into
on this particular podcast. I lovethis genre, and this is ultimately what
drove my decision to start a newpodcast focused specifically on space operas, and
that was to talk about all thethings in this genre a TV shows,

(04:39):
books, novella's movies, Right.I just I really really love this genre,
starting with Star Wars, and Ihave my Star Wars podcast devoted to
obviously Star Wars, and that willcontinue to stay that way. But there's
so much great content out there thatfalls under the umbrella of space opera that

(04:59):
I decided, you know what, there are any other podcasts that are out
there just talking about space operas. And I feel like this particular genre,
while it's widely known, it's beenaround for a long time, right,
it really has begun to sort ofgrab hold within the self publishing industry and
within entertainment in and of itself overthe course of the past few years to

(05:21):
become almost its own genre that getstalked about beyond science fiction. And I
believe that in the years to come, space opera will be something that is
discussed more in the description of spaceopera rather than sort of being lumped in
under the banner of science fiction. So that's what this podcast is going to

(05:45):
be about. Every single week,We're going to take some time out talk
about different space opera movies, onesthat are in development, movies that are
already out there, discuss movies infilms that are controversial that some people put
into the space opera category other people'sdo not. We'll talk about the different
definitions of space opera and what thatmeans for certain individuals and what needs to

(06:05):
be included in a story for itto be classified as a space opera.
We'll talk about the various books thatare out there in the space opera genre.
We'll get into the top selling booksof the week within the space opera
a genre, and we'll break thosedown in the subcategories too, whether it's
military science fiction that falls under spaceopera or whether it's young adult that falls

(06:28):
under space opera. And then wealso will get into a bit of the
self publishing aspect of it, andI'll continue to share a bit of my
journey to become a successful author ontop of my being full time radio talk
show host, and hopefully we'll includeyou and interviews. I'm planning on trying
to get as many authors and spaceopera content creators as possible on this podcast

(06:51):
in the weeks and months to come. So I hope you enjoy it.
I hope you'll subscribe the podcast.Wherever you are listening to your podcast,
it'll be available and it is availableup on the YouTube, iTunes, Spotify,
and wherever you can find podcasts basically, and I want to hear from
you two talk show nerd at gmaildot com, Talk show Nerd at gmail

(07:13):
dot com, any comments that youhave about the genre, things that you
would like to that you feel likeI should include within this podcast. I
really want to make this as asinteractive as show as my other shows are
my depeche Mode show and my StarWars show. So I hope you'll subscribe
if you're a fan of science fictionand space opera. I really feel like
there's going to be a little bitof everything for you know, a little

(07:35):
bit of something for everybody in thispodcast. So that's your preview podcast.
The first official episode, number onewill debut next week. I'm working out
some details on what we have planned, and we'll do a broad overview of
the existing content that is available rightnow and my suggestions. If you're new
to space opera or science fiction, maybe there's some gems in there, whether

(07:58):
it's movies or books that you've neverheard of before and you really like the
genre space opera. I hope you'llcome back and join the show again next
week, and again like and subscribeon YouTube or wherever you're listening to this
podcast. And as always, ifyou want to email me talk show nerd
at gmail dot com, Talk ShowNerd at gmail dot com, send me
an email and give me your suggestions, your witticisms, your criticisms, your

(08:22):
comments, and your suggestions. Andof course you can always go to my
nerdworld dot net and pick up myown Space opera series, Embark's book one,
Book two, Treasure and Darkness andThe Vanishing Warbook three, available in
all three formats, ebook, paperbackand audiobook. New books on the way.
I'll talk about that more next week, but again, I hope you
come back. I hope you'll comeback again next week and check out the

(08:45):
podcast. Thanks for taking time outto listen to this preview pod, and
