(00:01):
This is the FCB Podcast Network.Well, hello everybody, Merry Christmas,
Happy New Year, Welcome back toa very merry podcast where it's always Christmas
(00:24):
time and we're always living the dreamin Christmas Land, and as always I
am here with my very merry cohost, Amelia Hamilton's Amelia, Hello,
how are you feeling this fine day? I'm doing well, it's a beautiful
sunny day here in Virginia and it'sa good day. How are things in
California? It's a beautiful sunny dayhere too as well. As you know,
(00:46):
it's been raining NonStop for a fewweeks, so we're finally drying out.
Well, it's nice. Yeah, you could film a Christmas Land movie
here right now. It's like thetrees are kind of bare because our winter
is more like fall, but andit's like chilly enough to where your actors
won't be sweating their butts off ifyou want to pretend that they're in winter
(01:11):
coats. So it's it's actually likea nice, a nice day here.
Yeah, So we change up theschedule a little bit due to just some
constraints on my part and that Ameliahas been flexible with the schedule. So
some of you may have expected wewere doing one movie, but this week
we've decided to do The Winter Palace, starring one of our favorites, Danika
(01:33):
mckeller and Neil Bledsoe, who isunfortunately departed now from Great American Channel.
He didn't last there very long, but he's left us with some great memories.
And I think this is another stellarperformance from Nail Blood. So let's
get into an Amelia this week's moviePalace. Wait, I'm sorry, is
(01:55):
it just Winter Palace or is itthe Winter Palace or a Winter Palace?
It's just Winter Palace, that's agood question. I just wrote down Winter
Palace, but okay, maybe it'sjust Winter Palace, the Winter Palace.
Okay, because as as as yougo along, when you start searching these
movies on your DVR or like onthe internet, um there's like a million
(02:16):
of the same kind of movies. So where the is or as can be
very important. It certainly can.Um. So, Kira and I sort
of decided on this movie for acouple of reasons. It has been probably
a month since we've done a moviestarring Dannika McKellar, and we love them,
we missed them, and then it'sbeen what two episodes or the one
(02:38):
episodes one since we did a movieabout someone with writer's black going away and
meeting a prince. So we figured, here's a movie about a woman with
writer's black meeting a prince, starringDannika McKellar and Neil Bledsoe. It's everything
you could want in a movie. No, we really couldn't have picked like
a better, a better strategic uhno, but we never say no to
(03:00):
like a good prince, you know, romp in Christmas Land, and when
we really love Dannaka so and she'slike kind of the for lack of a
better term, she's kind of thequeen of the Prince romances and Christmas Land.
So all right, Winter Palace Itwe begin in Boulder and we get
(03:22):
this beautiful shot of the mountains andthen we get a shot of the town,
but the street names are all blockedout. I don't know if you
noticed that. I didn't notice. It was just these street signs that were
totally green. That's awesome. Idon't want you to know where Dannaka is,
and we respect your privacy. Weunderstand because she's probably somewhere in British
Columbia but so Um dannaka mckeller playsEmily and she is sitting in a coffee
(03:47):
shop with her black bf Becca blackCheck. We need to get like a
little bell or something we can belike black beff ding. That's actually a
good idea. I'll get on thata trope bell. So Emily is upset
because her neighbors are doing construction andshe has a book do and she can't
(04:10):
concentrate what she's gonna do. Soshe's walking down the street and Um notices
that her book Romance in the Rockies, which was her first book, is
they're taking it out of the frontwindow of the bookstore and it has been
in the in the window for tenmonths. So she had a great run.
She had a she had a recordfor ten months. I now first
of all bookstore period. You knowthat that's that is something that you don't
(04:36):
see too often these days. Um, although it's starting, they're starting to
make a little comeback. I doappreciate that. But as writers ourselves,
Amelia, you have to be ina in the front window of a busy
like at urban bookstore. Not justin the front window, but to have
(04:57):
a life size cut out of yourselfnext to the books as if anybody really
cares who the author is and whatthey look like. That is more than
a good run. That is arecord run. JK. Rowling didn't even
get that for Harry Potter, norin the Window. But you know,
but good for Emily, and goodfor Emily for her. So her publisher,
(05:20):
who is a black boss, mher call and he wants an update,
but she has almost nothing. Hewants an update on her new book,
and he's like, listen, ifwe don't get three chapters by the
end of the month, this bookis going to be canceled and you'll be
in breach of contract, which ismuch more realistic than Prince in Paradise where
he was like, you don't knowanything to anybody. No, actually,
(05:42):
the contract you do owe him threechapters. Yes, And in the grand
tradition of publishers in Christmasland, theyare just sitting at a desk making phone
calls from from their office, certainlynot working from home like everybody else in
the world. No. So sheis telling Becca about this at the coffee
(06:03):
shop and saying that she has amonth's overdue on this book and they've already
spent budget promoting for a book thatdoesn't exist. She doesn't know what she's
gonna do. She's kind of goingthrough some personal doldrums. She broke up
with Michael All almost a year ago, but she's still just kind of in
a funk. So Becca has anidea. She just got a brand new
(06:25):
job as a property manager. Sofirst of all, good for you Becca
having something that doesn't involve Emily.Yes, I'm glad you brought this up
because when I was watching this, this was one of the things I thought
about the smoothie. I'm like, this might be the most like mutually beneficial
BFF relationship I have seen in theChristmas universe. Like damka, Emily really
(06:49):
genuinely seemed to care about her friend. Even at one point she's like,
I want to hear all about yournew job. Like, oh, the
friend has a job and the lifeand she's interested in it and wants to
help of all things. Yeah,I did notice that. Yes, so
Becca is telling Emily that one oftheir properties currently needs a caretaker. It
(07:10):
is this big shell in the mountainsfor a wealthy European family that never actually
visits, And the way she putsit is, we need someone to knock
off the icicles run the taps ofthe pipestone freeze just hang out up there.
The person they had fell through. So she's like, Okay, I'm
in. I'll go hang out atthe winter Past. Yeah, so are
We have a mutual friend Stacia, who is a property manager in Los Angeles.
(07:35):
Also, if you love food andyou love parties, go check out
her instagram suare by Stacia. Shealway sounds cool. A little stuff she'd
like tells you what to do withyour leftovers and make your everything feel fancy
and fun. She's amazing. Gocheck it out sware by Sasha. Yeah,
lots of cool cocktails. Anyways,She's also a property manager and I've
(07:59):
never once been invited to help herout on one of her properties, a
ski chalet up in the mountains.I mean maybe she could offer me,
like if she needed my help, she could be like, can you guard
this like parking garage that's being invadedby by open air jog markets or something.
But yeah, never, I've neverbeen invited to any kind of can
(08:24):
we take that personally, Stasia,we want you to know, I know
never once. I don't know,and I don't know if if there are
those properties in the lost Greater LosAngeles area anymore. But you know,
I'm going to have a conversation withher. She's fallen down the job here,
Yeah she does. Yeah, whenEmily arrives, she opens up this
envelope and there's like a super fancyold fashioned key and a letter from Becca.
(08:48):
And so she calls Becca saying sheloves a place. You know,
she's so excited to be here, and she starts to get to work.
She's going to write her book witha pen. She's got her pen and
her paper, but she's still haswriter's block, and she's in all these
different rooms, all these different situations, trying to write and it's just not
happening. Um. So we findwhere she like finds an old photo while
(09:09):
and she starts like looking at stuffin the house, hanging out. So
in the morning, she comes awakein bed because she hears somebody trying to
get into the house, and shegrabs this weapon that I couldn't quite tell
what it was. It looked likea walking stick with like a duck head,
except it was only like two feettall. Yeah, well, I
don't know what it was. Idon't know what it was. I thought
(09:31):
it was some kind of ladle. But then I was like, why was
why is the ladle bad? Right? I don't know it was. It
was completely inappropriate for protecting yourself againstit a hardened criminal. But I don't
use it for home protection. ButI have a ladle that when you stick
it in a pot, it lookslike the lackness monsters coming out. Oh
(09:54):
my gosh, of course you do. Of course you do. I don't
use it for home protection, butit's not a duck, so maybe it's
not relevant. That is hilarious.Do you know what when I became when
I finally decided to become a gunowner for home defense, I was living
in the hood with my husband andhe had to go away for a number
(10:15):
of months and I was left therewith the kids. And one night I
thought I heard someone breaking into thehouse downstairs. And I lived in a
pretty big house and I had twobabies, basically, and I didn't know
what to do because I had nothing, and there wasn't even like a baseball
bat upstairs or anything, and Ididn't want to. And it was prior
(10:37):
to where you always had your cellphone with you. I think at that
time, you know, my cellphone was like downstairs, and so I
had to go check it out.So I grabbed a bottle of windex.
I was like, you know what, I'm gonna put it on the hard
spring, you know, and thenif it's like a real criminalize yes,
(10:58):
I mean, yeah, you gotit. That's when I was like,
you know what, I'm completely defenselesshere. Maybe I need to think about
like um and it. As itturned out, it was the dogs.
I had had the dogs outside thatevening in a little doghouse and they were
scratching at the doors to get in. They had actually broken through the door
to get in. They were baddoggos. Anyways, moving on, well,
(11:22):
let me ask you this. Didyou go to the door like Emily
and say who goes there? Yeah? No, no, I may I
crept down the stairs as quietly aspossible to see if I could see any
shadows moving or No. I certainlydidn't call out to my potential murderer.
No, here we go. Umall right, So she she goes to
(11:43):
the door and she is um.She pretends that she like yells like,
oh go back to bed, youguys, and then she's like, sorry,
my brothers are all army rangers.Yeah, I thought that was really
cute. Being army Rangers makes youreally tired. They're all asleep. Um.
(12:03):
So it's Neil blood Zoe though, and at first I thought maybe he's
speaking with an accent. At firstI thought his accent was a little off,
but then he explained that he's fromConcordia, and I just didn't recognize
it as a Concordian accent. Thatno, yeah, that's on you.
A lot of people don't. Alot of people don't because the Concordian accent
really has a lot of different rootsand so it can feel a little confused
(12:26):
to people who aren't familiar with that, I, you know, region of
Europe. It makes sense. It'sunderstandable, Amelia. Your ignorance on the
Concordian accent is understandable. Okay, forgivable this one time? Maybe. Um.
He explains that he is Henry andthis is his house. Um.
(12:46):
So he comes in and is like, make me some tea, and she's
sort of like, um, excuseme, I'm not your servant. What's
happening here? And not only that, but he's also brought to other servants,
Miss Tilson and Fritz, and wedon't really know what the deal is
with them yet, but who hehas? But and I thought this was
interesting though, Like right up front, they're like, okay, you're highness,
blah blah blah. So she knowsright now he is the Crown Prince
(13:07):
of Cordinia. There's no secret Prince. It is Vert selenas in this movie.
Yes. Um, so she's like, all right, well, whatever,
it's time to get to work.Um, what is the Wi Fi
password? Which I don't know whatshe's been doing. Maybe that's why she's
been writing with a pen no,because she could still use no, you
know what. And I appreciate thatyou don't need the Wi Fi because you
(13:28):
shouldn't be, you know, worryingabout the distractions that come with having internet
access if you're you know, sotrue, she doesn't need to know and
the Wii password is off with theirheads all one word. He's so cute,
he's so he's just very irreverent asa prince. Yeah. So they're
(13:48):
all sitting there in front of thefireplace and she's like googling him. She
can't believe that he is really PrinceHenry, Crown Prince of Concordia. But
he is. He totally is um. He looks up the code of arms
above the fireplace and she's got herwet socks hanging from it, drawing over
the fire which wasn't it's not afull like American who's never been outside of
(14:09):
her house before. But it's prettybad. It's one. Yet that's a
trope that you really that it reallyannoys you see ignorant americans also, I
love it. Yes, absolute lunaticsand have never seen anything, you know.
And of course all doing all this, she's she's still in her pajamas.
She is she is, Oh mygoodness. So Henry is talking to
(14:31):
his dad, King William, explainingthat he will be home in a week,
and he says he'll be home aftermy task is complete. So we're
loved wondering what is this mysterious task? We don't know. Um, let's
see we find out that Fritz,oh, he's going to be I'm sorry.
We find out first that Henry isactually the thing that's happening next week
(14:52):
that he has to come home foris his own coordination. He's about to
be king. Yes, and asyou may not know this because you're as
you've demonstrated at the beginning, ofthis podcast, Amelia, your knowledge of
Concordian royal tradition is really limited, but the transfer of power in the royal
(15:16):
family in Concordia is very very important. Concordia must have a king, and
the king plays an important role.Even though Concordia does have its own government.
The king is the foreign relations Ministerfor lack of a better which I
actually think is pretty cool arrangement,Like you're actually making your royalty work for
you. So anyway, this isa big deal, Amelia, is what
(15:37):
I'm saying. Transfer of power fromone king to the next. Yeah,
it's a big deal. And Henry, you know, he's going to do
his duty, right, That's aConcordian duty. Emily decides to get to
know the servants a little bit better. We find out that Fritz is a
bodyguard slash of valet and Telson ishis chief of staff. So Emily tells
(16:00):
them, listen, now that he'shere, I don't need to be here
every you know, the house istaken care of, so I'm just gonna
pack and get out of here, and they were like, um, it
usually takes twelve members of staff tomeet Henry's needs, but only two of
us were available right now, soyou need to stay and work for him,
which I mean that's a red flagin a manh Yeah. And then
(16:21):
when she says no, I'm justa caretaker, they remind her of the
property management contracts that apparently was aliteral slavery contract. It's like, you
have to stay and work for thepe human if for the owners if they
come home, yeah, you're basicallythey're indentured servant if they come while you're
(16:45):
there, and you have to provideall of their needs for them, which
Becca, she talks her. Rebeccabecas like, oh, I guess I
didn't read the fine print. Okay, Becca, that's some serious fine print
to leave. And Becca's like, listen, I know that's pretty much stup.
So if you need to, ifyou want to just pack up and
go, you should do that.I will figure it out on this end.
I just I'll take whatever the consequencesare. But Emily realizes Abcca is
(17:10):
not the one dimensional best friend fromevery other Christmas Slam movie, right.
She doesn't want her to get introuble, so she's like, I will
just I'm gonna stick it out. It's just like a few days I'm gonna
stick it out. I really thatwould like I noticed that, you know
what I mean, Like it stoodout to me. I was like,
look, our protagonist is doing somethingfor the black best friend. And it
(17:30):
was like, I care about youand I don't want you to get in
trouble, so I am actually gonnado this service for you. I was
like, okay, Like Emily's areal homie. Yeah she is. Um.
So after she hangs up the phonewith Becca, she turns around.
She here's this noise. She turnsaround. They have a trumpet playing while
(17:51):
they raise the flag. I genuinelylaughed at that part. I did.
Henry is trying out a speech insideand he's saying like this is going to
benefit both of our nations. AndI understand again that I am not familiar,
super familiar with the Concordian grammar, perhaps because maybe each and both do
(18:12):
not have different meanings from each otherin Concordia, because I think he means
each of our nations, not both. But again that's just my lack of
understanding. Yeah, I think that'sa really very American point of view.
Yeah, it's true. So theyare trying to make a contract with their
neighboring country of Arcadia rights right, and they're trying, and so he's but
(18:33):
it's such a trouble. He's havingtrouble like getting an emotional connection into the
speech. And as we learn fromPrince in Paradise, having a writer nearby
to write your speech it's super helpful. So she gives them a little bit
of help. Yep, she giveshim some flourish. Yeah, she gives
them, yeah, some little alittle something something to make his speech connect
a little better. And when heleaves, Tilson is like, excuse me,
(18:56):
but no, this man has avery rent amented schedule. You cannot
offer your opinions to him. Andhe also needs to get a certain random
London newspaper every morning. You needto cook him breakfast, he needs a
fire lit, and he's gonna needhis tea at these exact times to day.
This is where I was like,I would have checked out and then
(19:18):
like Syca, yeah, sorry,Becca, this is a lot some kind
of weird like indentured servitude ring.Yeah, it was probably like a hut.
It's a human trafficking operation fronting asa property management. This station of
risks for our help. Yeah.I was like damn okay, she they
(19:45):
have. They are basically asking herto do everything, and you know,
look at her. She didn't evenknow that she shouldn't put the socks on
the coat of arms. How isshe going to make a good cup of
tea? Well, I don't know, I don't know. Um Henry is
on a video chat with his family. He's like extremely connected. We get
the idea. He is not onlya prince, but he is a busy
(20:07):
businessman because he is in video hishome all the time taking care of business.
These days, it seems like everybody'stalking, but no one is actually
listening to the things they're saying.Critical thinking isn't dead, but it's definitely
low on oxygen. Join me KiaDavis on Just Listen to Yourself every week
(20:30):
as we reason through issues big andsmall, critique our own ideas, and
learn to draw our talking points allthe way out to their logical conclusions.
Subscribe to Just Listen to Yourself withKia Davis, an FCB radio podcast on
Apple, on Spotify, iHeart,or wherever you get your podcasts. After
his call, he does explain thatthis is or not sorry not. During
(20:55):
the call, he explains that thisis his uncle's old shellet, and he
has to sell it before taking thecrown because you're not as as the reigning
monarch of Concordia, you are notallowed to own foreign property. So Emily
comes in and brings him his breakfast, which is a gray eggs. Yeah,
(21:17):
and she has there's nowhere in this, you know, they're in the
middle of nowhere. There's like oneI think she said, there's like one
gas station with a little Mini Martin. That's it. She's like, they're
not going to have this London newspaperhe needs, and Tilson's like, figure
it out, lady. So shehas printed out every section and tape them
together to give him a newspaper. The good news is that this major London
publication, this internationally renowned source ofinformation, is only one fold. You
(21:42):
know, it's a front and aback, front and a back, so
it wouldn't take a lot of ink. Good for her. But the bad
news is that the Scian is definitelyout. Yeah, and you can't print
black and white if the science Nope, you are screwed now. Yeah.
I don't know. Yeah, Iwould not trust my printer to anything.
(22:06):
If I was like, if he'sgoing to cut my head off. He
don't get his newspaper. Yeah.Yeah, So she ends up excidently,
the King says, okay, well, before we hang up, I just
have to share this really crucial infofor you, and at that exact moment,
Emily accidentally unplugs the computer. Boywhat adults, What a mess?
(22:27):
Oh man. Later that day,she is trying to write and Henry is
fencing, and she goes downstairs andasks if they can make this a short
event and if it can be quieter. Um, Emily, I know that
you're in a really horrible situation here, but it is his house. Yeah.
(22:48):
I was like, okay, girl, Um, I get that.
But like, yeah, he isin his own house and they're they're fencing
again. Another one of those thingswhere she's like a dumb American like,
what is the fool's all this noise? It sounds like piratestone here, like
as if she'd never seen fencing inher life. Yeah, the note existed,
(23:11):
terrible. Um. And of courseyou may not know this, Amelia,
but fencing is the national sport ofConcordia. I didn't know it,
but I learned. I learned alot. This was an educational movie.
Yeah, she goes. Emily goesinto the sort of living area and looks
in the fireplace and Fritz has justthrown her whole ideal book into it.
(23:34):
He know it was, but itwas like scrap paper and threw it in
there. It was clearly a notebook. It was going a notebook, Like
did he not look inside it justto check to be like, what's what's
in here? Maybe this is thepassword book, you know, you know
the book that your grandparents have likein their desk drawer, with all the
passwords in it. Maybe it's thebank account numbers. Yeah, yeah,
(23:59):
which, by the way, youshould have a book with all your banking
with all your stuff in it.It's called an if I go missing file.
I listened to enough true crime podcasts, you know this. We should
have a small hard copy a pieceof paper that a few trust of people
know that have some of your keypasswords on it. Because one of the
issues that law enforcement has with findingpeople who go missing faster is that they
(24:22):
have to wait for subpoenas to getinto your text messages and your emails,
and so they can shave off dayssometimes by being able to get right into
those things. So there is yourpublic service announment. You think if the
police looked at our text messages theywould laugh at our means, or would
they be like, what's wrong withthis? They would be like, I
don't think we need to waste anyresources looking for either of these people.
(24:45):
They clearly are not contributing much tosociety. Excuse me. Our means are
top nodge officers. All right,So her book, her idea book,
is burning. She's freaking out,but Henry rescues the book. Great.
I mean it's pretty much still destroyed, but at least I guess he did
something. Um, he gets somesoot on his face, and it's sort
(25:10):
of like the Flower on the Face. It's like an homage, except she
doesn't do anything about her. Shehas laughed at him. It's gonna have
to suffice. I was at thepoint that we never we don't get this
trope in this film. Um,so the on the Face is gonna have
to suffice for Flower on the face. Yeah. Um, And he mentions
(25:30):
to frist it he really likes it. Emily speaks her mind. Yeah,
he likes a sassy woman. Hedoes. Yeah. Um. The next
day, Tilson wants to see herfirst thing in the morning, and she's
like, it's Tuesday, it's jamand croissant day, which, um,
first of all, you can youcould you have told her that on Monday,
right, that would be nice, yeah, rather than like breakfast is
(25:52):
in five minutes. And she's like, I don't know what we're gonna do
about this, and Tilston's like, don't carry your problem. So Emily goes
into town. She finds a donutplace is like the closest thing. The
donut place doesn't make croissants, butthe baker recognizes her. Also, another
black business owner, yes, recognizesher. Loved her book. So she's
like, when you put in yournext batch of donuts, can you just
(26:15):
like twist them around like their croissantsAnd the baker is like yes, So
I would have liked to see Henry'sreaction to that, but we don't see
again. Yeah, I guess it'sbasically a donut in a croissan that only
differs as the shape. All right, there's the same thing. Yeah,
So she goes to the little generalstore and while she's there, she sees
Henry, but he doesn't see her, and he is talking to a contractor
(26:38):
to schedule some work to be doneand the contractor is talking about like okay,
but it's going to be this muchmoney for materials. And then there's
a rush fee because we're super busyand we have to put you to the
front of the line and you wantit done so fast and blah blah blah.
So Emily goes over there and she'slike she basically calls him out.
She's like, your hands aren't callous, you haven't been working, your boots
are fine, you haven't been puttingin a roof, blah blah blah.
(27:02):
Emily is like she turned in amonk or like excite. You know,
she's not everything. So the mthe dude waves the rush fee and gives
her contractors discount on all the materialsinstead of charging her retail um. And
Henry thinks that this was like suchan amazing performance. He's so impressed with
(27:25):
Emily, and she's like, well, somebody has to help the naive newcomer.
And he is a gas excuse me, naive, but he almost,
yeah, he almost did get takenby that contractor who was like, oh,
I just have so much to do. Where fix that roof the other
day and we're laying a driveway tomorrow. Yeah, going on, you're a
(27:48):
liar, sir um. And itturns out she knows all this because she
used to be an accountant at aconstruction firm. So at least they do
kind of explain full monk at that. I thought they were gonna be like,
oh, you to write mysteries, like I thought she was going to
Angela Lansbury Itt you know, Yeah, that would have been fun to or
Aurora Tea Garden to be more topical. Hm, exactly. Um, let's
(28:11):
see. Oh he got her anew notebook to apologize for the other one
getting burned, which was very sweet. Yeah. But then they're outside the
store and who should they see acrossthe street but Nigel a Concordian paparazzo.
So they hide. Yes, theConcordian paparazzi is uh infamous for just being
(28:37):
very intrusive to celebrity, to celebritiesfollowing them around. I mean, the
Concordian paparazzi is vicious, do youknow what I mean? Yeah? Absolutely.
Um, So they hide in alittle diner and grab some brunch.
So I don't know what's going tohappen to the Crown Nuts, but he
so he explains why he's there tosell the house personally. He really he
(29:00):
just loves it and he wants tosee it one more time. He wants
to make sure that it's going tosomeone that will love it like he does.
And he explains that his uncle whobuilt it actually abdicated, which is
how his father came to be onthe throne. But now his father is
retiring because the rule in Concordia iswhen you hit seventy you have to retire,
(29:22):
so there's always like young energetic monarchy. And actually the someone acceeding to
the throne while their parents are stillalive is also definitely a trope. I
don't know, I don't know ifyou call it. It's maybe a subtrope.
Yeah, you know, that's interesting, Yeah, a subtrope of the
of the royal genre, right, because they're never they always know that they're
(29:45):
about to become king, because thepersons stepping down, it's never. And
sometimes it's like, oh, myfather died a year ago and my mother
has been you know, queening thewhole time, but now it's time actually
crown on and it's going to beme. You're right, you're right,
And it's because we can't be tooclose to death in the Christmas universe.
We can, we can mention it. It could be something that happened a
(30:07):
while ago, but far enough awaythat people have had time to heal from
it, so the emotion isn't tooraw. You don't want to be ever
too close to a dark event inthe Christmas universe, which is why we
had such a huge issue with thekidnapping in the Royal Nanny episode. But
it was so like, what, yeah, no, that doesn't happen.
(30:30):
No, No, that's a goodUh. Very that's a very perceptive note
there, Amelia. You're right,You're absolutely right. I don't think i've
we've I've never seen something where theroyal character has had to be coordinated because
something has happened. There's been adeath, and now it's their term.
(30:52):
You're right, Yeah, it doesn'thappen. The next morning, Emily and
Henry make a deal that if shewill help him do stuff around the house
to get ready to sell all morning, she can have the afternoon all to
herself to write. So she startswith him cataloging things in the house because
they're going to get rid of prettymuch everything, and she founds these beautiful
(31:14):
carvings that do not look like somethingthat you would find in every gift shop
in the mountains, right and definitelynot definitely, not at all. And
she loves them, but he cannotremember the artist, so she can't catalog
them properly. Real mystery. Theyneed to go to antiques road show.
Hm, that's exactly what they shoulddo. Yeah, this is worth eighty
million dollars. She finds a telescopethat clearly he and his uncle had a
(31:42):
connection to from his childhood. Youcould tell they spend a lot of time
using the telescope, but he doesn'twant it. She finds hockey equipment.
He's like, just get rid ofeverything, and she's like, you know
what, though, we have aresponsibility to make sure that this stuff still
works. So they go outside andplay. When they say that they're called
playing hockey, but they just intheir shoes. Yeah. Like the first
I was like, please tell me, But they're like their backyard rink has
(32:04):
been taken care of this whole time, because those are a lot of work.
Yeah, it's a backyard rink, kid, Those are a lot of
work. We used to up inCanada, we used to just um,
there was a divot in the driveway, not even a divot, just a
dip because you know, all thetrucks running over it after what wasn't even
(32:25):
anyways you could fill it to acertain extent. So when it started to
get cold, we would just gorun the hose over it at night and
we had a skating rink in thedriveway until it now melted really quickly because
it was so shallow, you knowthat as soon as it warmed up,
the pavement warmed up. But yeah, we would just do it. We
would just basically freeze down the drivewayand that put our skates on and go
(32:51):
out the driveway. I thought maybeit was going to be something like that,
you know, but it wasn't eventhat. Yeah, we had we
had a little backyard rink, butit was like it took work. So
my brothers both played hockey and someof the other hockey parents will come over
and there was like plastic sheeting downso then like um, shoe good,
Oh that's awesome. It would rigup lights so we could play after dark.
That sounds so fun. Love that. Maybe it's something like that,
(33:13):
but now just running round the outside. Yeah, they and then they have
a moment that was almost a trope. She falls in the snow. He
puts his hand down to help her, but then and I thought she was
going to pull him down, buthe just tripped. They're both laying in
the snow laughing. Is like, this is the worst most horrifying thing I've
(33:34):
ever seen. What is the princedoing. He's having fun, he's laughing
without Yeah, he has a scheduleand Fritz is like, no, he
doesn't, Amelia, he has aschedule. A schedule. They use that
word so many times, the scheduleschul um. Fritz really likes Emily,
and he's like, so he's havinghis exercise right now instead of fencing later.
(33:58):
It's fine, calm down, tilson. Let's see. At nighttime,
he's going over the treaty draft. You know, he's working. But she
sees online about Beatrix and she isthe princess from the next kingdom, which
I think is Arcadia where they're tryingto do this treaty. Yes, I
mean yeah, and so she's she'stalking to Becca about it and she's like,
(34:23):
you know, oh, no way, I'm sorry, she's not.
She's talking to Henry about it thenext morning and he's like we're not together
anymore. That's it's we just wedated for a little while. It's fine.
She starts talking about how she waswith this guy, Michael for a
long time, but they were bothwriters, and when her book sold and
she got really successful, he gotjealous and it just didn't work out.
(34:44):
But the big news of this conversationis that her writer's block is gone,
and she's written a whole first chapter. It's amazing. Yeah, and we
didn't have to even go through thewriting, you know, another writing montage
of her just randomly bawling up piecesof paper and throwing them. Yeah,
it was just done. And heoffers to read it, and she's really
(35:06):
nervous about it, which I getsthe same way. It is really hard
to let somebody else read it.But yeah, you didn't have to do
that if you want someone to payyou for it. Yeah, So he
offers to read it, and shegives it to him, and they say
they're good nights. In the morning, he has made his own tea like
an adult, grown man. It'scrazy. It's like in the Lindsay Lohan
(35:30):
movie when she finally learned how toflip the pancakes. It's like it just
really just took one good conversation exactly. I wish it was that easy for
it. I can't cook at all. I mean I can cook, I
can sustain life, but I can'tmake delicious things. And I wish it
were that easy just to have adeep conversation with my husband and the next
(35:52):
day be able to put out acorn meal. But I can make my
own tea though I do know howto do that. There you go,
I'm proud of you. And Henryis proud of Emily because he loved the
book. And but she's like, but I don't know what comes next,
and he goes, We'll just indulgeme, and she says, does anyone
ever do otherwise? She always speaksher mind. Yep. Then they play
(36:15):
this little snowball game, which Iactually thought was a really good idea.
I feel like this would actually helpshake some stuff loose. Yeah, So
they grab a snowball and you haveto hold the snowball while you tell the
next part of the story. Solike he says, like once upon a
time and hands it her. She'slike, there was a prince and hands
it back to him. So youhave to think of something really quickly.
Because it's really it's hold in yourhand and you want to get rid of
(36:36):
it. I thought it was clever. Yeah, I thought it was cute
and actually sort of I think theywould actually help. I did say that.
I was like, I'm going toremember that, I know. So
then she throws a snowball at him, which is like an homage to a
snowball fight and not really a snowballfight. So he's like, Okay,
you got some ideas, now justgo upstairs, go right leave. You
(36:58):
know, you don't have to worryabout me for the rest of the day.
And we just see her sitting onher bed with her laptop writing and
giggling because she's so happy that she'swriting. She's doing it. The words
are flowing, it's coming. Thisbook is going to be written, happening.
It is happening. That night, though, she hears this weird tapping
sound and she goes outside and heis sculpting. He was the one who
(37:21):
made the sculptures that definitely don't looklike they came from every tourist store.
That's right, he was. Hewas carving the sculpture, the generic bear
sculptures. I definitely did not seethat coming. Now, I actually didn't
see it coming. Really, No, I didn't made him. I was
like me with you, No,I didn't. So he says he used
(37:45):
to dream of living an artist's life, and oh yeah, she thinks.
She's like, why doesn't your sisterEdwina take the throne? She is super
capable, she seems like she actuallywants the job, and like, you're
not going to be happy as king? And he's as well, what's my
happiness compared to the happiness of halfa million people? So we got two
things from that. First of all, we know the population of Concordia,
(38:07):
so forever on jeopardy. Well,no, half a million, half a
million. Also, we know thathe has his priorities in order because his
happiness compared the rest of the kingdom. And at this point I was also
thinking, listen, your uncle abdicated. If you abdicate, like, the
monarchy cannot handle this, it seemsa bit unstable. I was thinking that
(38:28):
as well. Yeah, we can'thave an advocation in every single generation.
Yeah, I've even been thinking aboutthat in our own presidential election, because
we are pulling up on the veryreal possibility that this president is not going
to make it past one term andso then that would be two one term
presidents in a row. And itfeels so unstable, you know, like,
(38:50):
and that's how this is, andthat's a big part of what royalty
is for in the modern age,is like a sense of stability exactly.
It's like the politicians will change, but the roy family is the royal family.
But like if everybody's abdicating all thetimes, right, everybody, Oh,
everybody's following their dreams. What's next? And your pa're gonna lay down
with dogs like I know exactly.Oh, Henry, you're right about this.
(39:14):
Don't get talked out of it.So Emily and Henry decide that the
staff, that they both the twoof them and the staff need to have
fun. This is the last visitto the Winter Palace, which is what
his uncle always called it. Sothey say good nights, they're good nights,
(39:34):
and share a look like a romantica gaze. Yeah. Well,
in the morning, their plans havecountry fruition. Tilson finds these staff itineraries,
so he has canceled all of hismeetings and has scheduled them for fun
activities all day to be on vacation. And at this point I need him
(39:55):
to understand that signing someone up fora spin ass right, it's not the
patient. I would be so madif my boss was like, just take
the day off and enjoy yourself.I signed you up for spin class.
This that is so Hollywood though,That is that to me? I was
like, that's a Hollywood version ofrelaxing is going to the gym and getting
(40:16):
in a good sweat. You know. Well, but what's his name?
Fritz didn't have to do he gotto go to Like what did he go
to do? I don't remember.I think I think a woman wrote the
script. Yeah. No, hegot to go skiing. Yeah, you
got to go up there in this, you know, with the ski bunnies
up there. Yeah, yeah, you got to have fun. Did Paul
(40:42):
Revere really say the British are coming? And how is George Washington chosen to
leave the First American Army. Joinus for the Growing Patriot podcast, a

to be, and he's like, well, I just I'm going to do
errands for the contractor, you know, just kind of keep working on the
house. So she decides to gowith him and they make a day event.
Her writer's block is gone. Itis just gone. It's flowing.
Everything's good. When she has Shetalks to Henry about like maybe loosening up
(41:27):
a little, and he does thisdance to show her how funny he is.
And I hope he never does itagain. And I know that it
was supposed to be awkward because he'ssupposed to be like a really you know,
tightly wound guy. Yes, andNeil Bledsoe seems I've never met him
in real life, but he seemslike a very tall man, like he's
got very long legs and so heseems as very gangly anyway, so he
(41:52):
doesn't seem like kind of man thatshould be moving his body and no ways,
like they don't do that in publicever again, and he talks about
how she is just different than theother people he knows, because he said
that all of his friends want somethingfrom him, but she is different,
(42:14):
I know. But then it's like, are those are those friends? No?
I think what he meant to saywas I don't have any right.
It was like all of my friendswant something from me, and I was
like, I don't know. Ifthat's the definition of friends, then I
don't think you have friends right. Also, Neil Bloods is six foot three,
you are right, Oh, yeah, you know you can say it's
(42:34):
in the legs. Yep. Umthe oh. But be careful because Nigel
the paparazzo is across the street again, lurking around doing nothing, doing nothing
but just standing on the street cornerin the small town in the middle of
winter. Yea with a camera, not looking suspicious at all. A grown
man with a camera in his hand, standing in one single place for days
(42:58):
on end. Yeah, just lookingaround. Yeah. Um. So they
decide that they need to run away, and he's like, well, let's
hold hands because it's cold, whichseems like, um like something like a
guy in like junior high would belike, it's cold, you know,
we could like hold hand. Yeah. I was like, okay, well
(43:20):
let's wording us. Um. SoTilson was apparently angry about spin class.
I don't blame her. So shetells the King yeah, and it is
like, we need to get thisthing sold, and he is dragging his
feet and there's this woman. Idon't know what's going on, King William,
and King William isn't happy about it. No, she's being a total
snitch. Um. I guess that'smaybe part of her job. I don't
(43:44):
know, maybe maybe not. Younoticed though, when she came out of
her spa day Spin slash spin class, she had her hair down. She's
loosening up to um. Back atthe house, the contractor is showing Henry
stuff that needs to be fixed. They're going over you know, the list,
(44:06):
and this potential buyer shows up,even though the house isn't going on
the market for two days. AndHenry's like, well, listen, reschedule
my meeting with the Prime Minister becauseI need to get to know this person,
because I can't sell my house assomeone who's not going to love it
as much as I do. Andthis guy he wants to remodel the house,
Kira. What he wants to buya house that was built eighty years
(44:31):
ago and then remodel it. Whathe wanted to knock out walls. Excuse
you, you wanted to cover upwindows, which was a little weird.
Well, he wanted to put ina theater, a home theater. I'm
not saying that. He wasn't seeingthat he was going to cover up every
(44:51):
window. He was gonna put ahome theater in his modern gabin. He
was. He was, so Henryand Emily start making up problems with the
house, you know, the roofleaks and whatever. Bears problems. Yeah,
bears, yeah, the bears. So they're trying to, um,
you know, talk him out ofit, and he's like, okay,
(45:12):
whatever, this house isn't for me. See around, and Henry's like,
he just keeps saying he needs tofind someone who loves it as much as
he does. And let me tellyou this, this is like a house
that's been in your family for acouple of generations. Nobody's gonna love it
as much as you do. Myhusband love it is the memories, you
weirdo. My husband loves real estateshows like Selling La or Selling Sunset or
(45:34):
million dollars listings, like if it'sany real estate reality show that's out there,
he watches it. And every singletime you there is an owner who's,
oh, this was my my husband'sand I bought this house, you
know, when we were twenty andwe first got married, and he passed
away five years ago. But Idon't want to sell this for less than
(45:55):
you know, eighty thousand jillion dollars, you know, oh, because it
means so much to me, andthe next person has to love it.
And always, inevitably there is likea conversation between the real estate agent and
the person, the agent telling themit's never You're never going to find that
person. This house is special toyou because of the memories, not because
(46:16):
of the property or what the houseis. Like, you need to let
that go. You're just that persondoesn't really exist. I suppose it happens
every now and then, you know, or you find somebody who's like,
oh, this is a young coupleand they have like a really sweet vision
for the property. But mostly it'slike, no, this is just property.
Your memories are what makes it right, and someone needs to have that
(46:38):
conversation with Henry, Yeah, whoat the moment is trying to do electrical
work because he had a dream thathe could. It goes about as well
as expected and he shorts out theentire house. There's no power. So
they have a candle at dinner, and they all the four of them are
(46:59):
sitting around the table because he eatswith his staff obviously like a modern people.
And Fritz goes, this is romantic, and Henry and Emily have this
like sappy look about romance while whilethey're sitting with the staff at the table.
While sitting with the staff, Um, then we find out that Fritz
has a date. He met somebodyout on his vacation day. He's gonna
(47:22):
date with the ski instructor. Goahead, Fritz. It's that Concordian accent.
It gets ladies every time. Yep. Um. Henry and Emily decide
to go check out the stars.Look at the telescope, looks at the
telescope. Um. Tilson is worried. She's talking to Fritz about how he
has lost his focus, and Fritzis like, he smiles now, like,
(47:45):
isn't it worth anything to you, harpy. No, No, it's
not my job for to make himhappy, to see him be happy.
It's my job to make sure thathe completes the traditional transfer of power to
keep the stability of our nation. They're engaged in trade negotiations with Arcadia,
they could boost tech trade twenty percent. By twenty percent, Amelia, I
(48:10):
mean, I don't know a lotabout trade, but I know that is
a lot one deal that can affecttwenty percent percents. Yeah, it's incredible.
Yeah, it's a big deal.He needs to keep his eye on
the prize here. So they're outsidelooking at the constellations and he points out
Regulus and random Amelia Hamilton phone fact. In college, my dorm was Saint
(48:34):
Regulus Hall, so I appreciated that. Oh very nice. Interesting. Now
now everyone knows what a nice connection. I'm sure everyone's going to write that
down. And what did they sayRegulus meant? They said it meant,
it meant something in Latin. Well, I don't remember, because the Regulus
that I mean, I know formy dorm it was just named after Saint
(48:57):
Regulus, who was the guy whobrought up the relics of Saint Andrew's to
Scotland. Okay, all right, but I can't see what this Regulus was.
But I think it was in Leo. And I'm a Leo, so
I really feel like that scene wasfor me. I'm a Leo too.
Oh my god, I'm len,I'm already married, so I get the
fine. Fine, I'll be yourtilson where I just look scoldingly at you
(49:19):
the whole time. Why would yoube my black best friend with no interest
outside of me? That's true.I can do that because I really don't
need to have any I'm already married, so I don't need that's true.
Yeah, well you can figure outyour role, all right, all right,
well we'll negotiate, okay, verygood. Um. She is saying,
this book is writing itself, butI accept the ending. I cannot
(49:43):
figure out the ending. And hegives her the Shakespeare line Journey's end at
lover's meeting, and she is like, oh my goodness, there's someone else
who knows a really famous quote fromShakespeare. What are the odds? What
are the odds? So they havea look like he gives he has a
little bit of a lean, likea kiss might happen, and she breaks
the moment and she's like, listen, we are both leaving here in three
(50:06):
days. Yeah, that's not enoughtime to fall in love and playing the
rough of your life together. That'snot nearly enough time. She's like,
there's no point in us making outright now under the stars because we're gonna
get feelings for each other and thenwe have to leave and it's just silly.
And yeah, he is still likeand then he starts being like,
well, maybe I don't have togo back then, and she tells him
(50:28):
that he needs to write his ownstory. I mean, okay, again,
just going back to bad advice inthe Christmas universe. I get that,
and she has to say that, but and you know, to a
certain extent, I get that,But we are talking about one hundred I'm
going to assume hundreds of years ofroyal tradition. They've are as you pointed
(50:50):
out so rightly, they've already hada king abdicate the throne. I mean,
look at what we're having to witness, and in the UK right now
with he wasn't even in line forthe throne, you know, in next
in line for the throne, andhim leaving has caused so much chaos.
So I don't know, I justthink like he does have responsibilities to consider.
(51:15):
That is the downside of being borninto immense wealth and fame. With
great power comes great responsible Yeah, you don't get to have it all,
It's what I'm saying. But Iguess in Christmas Lane, you do?
Apparently you do. Tilson meanwhile,is spying on them like a total creep.
She's just like peeking off the curtains, being a weirdo watching them.
(51:37):
So she talks to the King, and the King is like, we need
to take some stronger measures here,so we're gonna have to wait to see
what those could possibly be. Meanwhile, Oh, go ahead, no,
no, I just go ahead.Fritz and Henry are having a conversation because
Henry is at a real crossroads andhe doesn't know what he's going to do,
and Fritz pretty much encourages him toindicate, which is bad advice,
(52:02):
especially because his uncle just abdicated.Yeah again, I just you're you're you're
looking up throwing an entire nation intochaos. Why don't you just get rid
of the royal family altogether then,if it's going to be this easy,
yeah yeah. Um. Henry isnow with Emily nutnext scene, and they
are leaving their head to the grocerystore because he wants to make dinner for
(52:28):
the staff and he's never cooked before, but he wants to make beef Wellington,
which is like one of the hardestthings possibly to make y and so
she's like, how about if wemake apple or um? Yeah, and
he's like, yeah, that's probablya better idea. Um. But the
grocery store had Concordia apples, which, again, in my ignorance, did
(52:49):
not know that that was a majorcrop in Concordia. Yeah, a lot
of people don't know, but Concordiais very well known for their apple crops
um and it's a long story behindand I won't bore everyone with Concordian history,
but apples are very important and alot of people don't know about.
Colorado is a major importer of Concordianapples. So yeah, yeah, definitely
(53:14):
interesting. Yeah, it was oneof the it was one of the exports
that he was talking about in thetrade agreement. He was actually talking about
agriculture. Agriculture going up thirteen percent, which again is a huge for foreign
trade for any one deal to makeyour trade, you know, numbers go
(53:35):
up by thirteen percent, is uh, it's a kadia must be a significant
importer, I think so. Soyes, anyway, Concordian apples, Yes,
they're they're very delicious. I highlyrecommend them if you can find them.
If you can find them, butgood luck. So he takes a
bite. He's all excited and hegives Emily a bite and as she's like
(53:57):
as they're like laughing and biting onan apple and whatever, Nigel takes a
picture of Concordia. We've been spotted. They have been spotted. Of course,
the pictures look like they're being veryintimate, because a picture only captures
a second, you know, andthen yeah, so it looks scandalous,
(54:19):
but they and they do not knowthat this picture has been taken. It
is a total surprise. Um atdinner, it's absolutely terrible. The servants
hate it. It's pretty much inedible, but they all appreciate the Henry tried.
So there's that. After dinner, though, Emily and Henry go outside
and he says that she's made himrealize what he's been missing, and she's
(54:42):
like, listen, I wrote youthis letter for you to read when you
get back to Concordia. And he'slike, well, maybe I don't want
to go back to Concordia. OrAt this moment they almost kiss, and
for Christmas Land, this was aboutas close as I've seen the lips come.
It was I thought we were infor yes, you know, they
got really close. And then KingWilliam shows up, and as we learned
(55:07):
from Prince in Paradise, when thewhen the parents shows up, you're in
trouble. Well. And then heshows up. He's just standing there and
what he says is, Oh,it looks like I've arrived just in chime
and I was like, yes,you have that. Kids almost happens like
your chiming is impeccable, so good. There's the best Concordian accent I think
I've ever heard. So good.Spot. Yeah, I mean that was
(55:34):
it was the closest almost kiss I'veever seen. I was very razor then,
so he tells Henry, so Emilygoes inside. He tells Henry that
they need to get the crown onhis head and he needs to just start
doing his job. So they're gonnamove the coronation to the Winter Palace,
which seems strange um, and there'sgonna do it like in the next couple
(55:59):
of days, gonna do it likenow. Well, because he just wants
to get it over with. Hedoesn't want to give his son any more
chances to back out. He's like, we'll move it here to the US
if we have to yeah. Um. Emily is on another video call with
Becca telling her which has happened, and Becca is like, listen, I
didn't know how to tell you this, but there's been a lot of tabloid
(56:22):
coverage of your Apple situation. Andalso with that comes the fact that he
is still engaged to Beatrix. Everybodyknows it. It's in every paper,
in every Concordian newspaper, and allthe western outlets have picked it up to
all the North American outlets. MOIright now, right right, TMZ is
(56:45):
on their way up to the WinterPalace. Everybody knows. So Emily is
like, I didn't know I wasthe other woman here. That's just horrifying.
No, thank you. So shebails and as she's ev the king
comes after her and he knew, like, you know, all about what
(57:06):
was going on this whole time. And she says, you know that she
knows about Beatrix now and the Kingdoesn't say anything. It's super awkward,
and he says, you know,Concordia must have its king, and she
says, I just hope it's ahappy one, because, as we know,
his personal happiness is more important thanthe stability of the country. Right,
right, right. She's clearly notstudied royal history at all. Happiness
(57:30):
is the last thing that yes ison the schedule. And here we have
another rope right situation that could probablybe pretty cleared up pretty quick if she
just went and asked the Prince himselfabout the situation. Absolutely. Fritz comes
to say goodbye, and he getsher these Oregamy flowers because that was the
(57:51):
Origami class was the other part ofhis day out skiing in Oregamy. And
he says something about his new girlfriend. So that moved fast. You know,
some guys in twenty twenty three peoplewant to get in what they call
situation ships these days, where likeyou're kind of dating but you're not official.
He locked it down in one day. Good for you. Christmas.
It's it's the Christmas universe. There'sno situational relationships there. It is like
(58:16):
those don't last long. They certainlydon't last through a Christmas And no,
it's it's commitment. People in Chrisin the Christmas Universe value commitment. And
you know that's one thing that wereally like about it. And I mean,
come on, Amelia. She meta guy from Concordia who works for
(58:37):
the royal family, and he's invitingher to Concordia for the summer, like,
yeah, obviously she's going, Yeah, she's gonna go. Yeah,
And she even gives Tilson a littlehug, even though they never, you
know, totally saw eye to eye. You know, they're kind of friends.
Speaking of friends. Back in Boulder, she's hanging out with Becca.
(58:59):
She has submit did her complete manuscript, and she thinks Bacca for a beautiful
adventure. But up on the mountain, Henry is upset. He won't smile,
and the King is like, look, I actually liked her too.
She's not what I expected. Yeah, I kind of liked her. And
(59:19):
he says, what I thought wehad was a fiction because she just laughed.
She doesn't know what to think aboutthat. I actually liked that line.
Yeah, it was a good line. What I thought we had was
a fiction. And oh, Ido want to say, I don't think
you mentioned this, but they're goingto hold the coronation ceremony in the chapel
that is on the property. AndI loved a that there's a chapel on
(59:44):
the property, which means you knowthat their family is committed to faith and
religious values, like a lot ofroyal families, right, they continue the
religious values of the kingdom. Butalso I thought, this is, you
know, sort of like having aguest house house on your property. Oh
true, I guess it's like aguest house for God. They have outbuildings.
(01:00:05):
Yeah right, yes, um,so he let's see. Oh then
the king now lets Henry know thathe that when Emily left she said something
about Beatrix, and He's like,I didn't clear up the misunderstanding, right,
And Henry said, well, what, like, it doesn't even really
(01:00:27):
matter at this point because I'm gonnabe king. I'm gonna go home whatever.
Um. He opens a note fromEmily and it says a note for
a king, and then it's thatda Vinci quote about how there's always a
sculpture already inside the marble, youjust have to let it out. However,
that which they had kind of mentionedbefore when he was his bear sculptures
or eagle sculptures or whatever. Um. Edwina is also here. The whole
(01:00:52):
family is here for the coronation. And what they're gonna do is have Henry
sign over the house to the ConcordianEmbassy so that it is technically Concordian soil,
because you have to be crowned onConcordian soil. And after the coronation,
the embassy will take care of justselling it. Okay, yeah,
(01:01:14):
it was a long way to gotogether, but all right, I'll buy
it. Yeah whatever, I acceptit. Emily is telling Becca that she's
ready to start her next book. She just wants to keep writing. She
doesn't want to be alone with herthoughts. But but she left her idea
book behind at the shellet, andshe's like, I don't know what I'm
gonna do. Where am I goingto write down my ideas? We're I'm
(01:01:36):
gonna write down my ideas. Wheream I gonna find my ideas to start
writing? I remember literally none ofthem. What am I going to do?
And but Becca has a solution. She's like, you know, I
heard that the Concordian Coronation is happeningtoday, so they must have already gone
back to Concordia. It's safe foryou to go to the house. You
have a key, go get yourbook. Oh, thank goodness. Meanwhile,
back on the mountain, m ohso, she sorry. So she
(01:02:00):
heads up to the mountain. Shearrives and there's these dignitaries walk into the
chapel, is kind of ignore her, and so she follows these dignitaries into
the chapel where the coordination is alreadyhappening. So these people were apparently late.
Yeah, and they don't wait. This is another Concordian tradition. They
do not hold events late at all. They do not hold them for dignitaries.
(01:02:22):
Timeliness, Yeah, timeliness is aConcordia. Concordian tradition. Yeah.
Value there you go, like honor, Like honor in Japan is like a
very cultural tradition or like right, like uh, you know, French fries
is a very cultural tradition here inAmerica. Timeliness is a cultural Concordian tradition.
(01:02:44):
Concordian scheduling important. Um, soit is also being televised or I
mean, I guess it could bevideo recorded. There's a cameraman. Let's
just say. And I don't knowif you notice this, but the cameraman
was on resputin. No, Ididn't know. I was like, this
is you can't let him in.No, I didn't notice. I don't
(01:03:07):
have to go back, get thatway, you have to go back and
look because he was one rescue hilarious. Um. He gets ready to accept
the crown, his father gives hisspeech, stepping down, goes to give
it to Henry, and Henry givesa speech abdicating, Um. We show
Edwina because he's gonna get, youknow, give the crown to his sister,
(01:03:29):
Edwina. Um. Clearly she isshocked, and I feel like he
should have had a conversation with herto make sure that she wasn't also secretly
in love with somebody back in Concordia, and like, thank goodness, I
don't have to take the throne. But she's happy because this is Christmas Land,
and I would just like to proposeit. From now on we call
her ed Quina, ed Quina.I love it. I think that's great
(01:03:51):
for concord The Concordia tabloids get thatto the Acordia tabloids. Now mmm.
So Tilston see Emily and tells Henrygo to her. So Henry runs to
the back of the room where she'shiding behind a flag because she didn't want
him see her. Um, andhe tells her, you in this place
are all I've ever wanted and theykiss yea the and and then Concordia falls
(01:04:16):
into chaos and the trade deal isn'tclosed because Aduena doesn't know anything about foreign
trade um or anything about the dealsthat she's that he has already made.
Yeah. No, I long forAmelia, and I feel like you and
I someday need to like have agirl's weekend, go go meet somewhere and
(01:04:42):
write this crossover Kingdom script where becauseI was like, you know, what
had been cool is if he wasmaking the trade deal with Taro Via you
know, yeah, some goat wellfor some apples, Yeah, exactly,
exactly. Well, I did wantto ask you, since we're both writers,
what do you do when you havewriter's block? What's your go to
(01:05:06):
cure for writers block? I guessit depends, like I mean, if
it's something for work and I justhave to power through it, I just
come up with some words and thenhopefully I have time to revisit those words
and polish them up later. ButI prefer just to like I like to
do something either outside, just takemy dog dog for a walk, even
(01:05:28):
for like twenty minutes, and justkind of think about something else, do
something creative, crochet and you know, embroider are a couple of things I
like to do, but I feellike I need to just take my mind
off of it or I'm never goingto have an idea. I can't just
sit and think about it, ornothing will happen. I'll get no ideas
that way. What about you,I'm the same with you for work.
If it's writing for work and thenI don't feel inspired, I do,
(01:05:49):
I just power through. I'll I'lljust write. Sometimes I'll start in the
middle, right Like if I'm like, oh, I know where I want
to be in the middle of this, well, I'll just start there and
then I can back up and writea beginning and you can go back and
edit. And I don't judge myself. I just let it sound as stupid,
you know, whatever is coming outthat goes on the page, and
then I can go back and editit. But when it comes to creative
(01:06:11):
writing, I use writing prompts.I find that I find that that's helpful.
I will there's a couple of subredditcommunities that are just writing prompts,
and then you can find you know, or you can just search writing prompts
on the internet. And then Iwill make myself write two hundred words on
(01:06:32):
a writing prompt that won't have anythingto do with what I'm doing, but
I find that it knocks loose thecreative juices. Yeah, I like it.
Yeah, but maybe someday we'll getto you know, Stacia will send
us up to the mountains to takecare of a chale, a private chala.
And yeah, we can see ifthat works for caring weekend. Yeah
(01:06:57):
like you do. Yeah, Ohwell, I enjoyed this movie. Didn't
have the tropes that I prefer tosee in movies like this, and that
would be my only um criticism ofthe movie. I think that Neil Bledsoe
and Dannika mckeller are a really greatChristmas Universe couple, and I'm sad that
we won't get to see them anymore. Absolutely, I agree it's all the
(01:07:20):
best we won't be. Yeah,it's clear to me they enjoy working together
and they work together well. Soyeah, um, Neil, if you
want to come back, if youwant to come home, your fans are
here. We will welcome you homewith open arms with O's loved everything you
do. I Yeah, I enjoyedthis movie. I enjoy a really good
(01:07:43):
