(00:01):
This is the FCB podcast network FromChicago with Love. I thought, from
Chicago with Love, why isn't itcoming up? Because there's like a bunch

(00:21):
of them. I had the sameissue when I was looking at the info.
The best probably to go to thewebsite. Yeah, oh, so
it comes up as Least on Love, which it came up on IMDb.
Two. It's the same movie,is it? Okay? Oh, Mila

(00:43):
Wants the Pet House. It's theexact same movie. That's so weird.
That's because there's like eight other thingsnamed from Chicago with Love, so they
probably changed it at the last second. That's too funny that it's funny.
Well all right, well you knowwhat, I'll just use this as the
and Joe Welcome everybody to a verymerry podcast. I'm your host Kara Davis,

(01:04):
and I am here with my verymerry go host Amelia Hamilton. Hi,
Amelia. We were just trying tofigure out what the what the dark
name of this me was that wewatched. We watched it was called from
Chicago with Love. That's not whatit is online. No, Now it's
apparently called Lese on Love, samemovie, So okay, I think it's

(01:27):
called I think it was called Leaseon Love and it's called From Chicago with
Love. Now, I think that'swhat I watched. When you watched it,
what title came up? Do youremember? From Chicago with Love?
That's what came up for me too, So they must have changed it,
even though I do understand the switchbecause of the plot of storyline, and

(01:49):
because when I was looking for thismovie, like eight other things called from
Chicago with Love popped up, butthis is the only one that matters to
us today. So we are reviewingof Valentines Offering today from Great American Family
Channel. And who are our starsof this film, Amelia. This movie

(02:10):
is about Poppy played by Rebecca Lilliardand Milo played by Dan Jiannata. If
I'm saying that correctly, and Iwill say this, I thoroughly enjoyed this
movie. It was adorable. Itwas absolutely adorable. I enjoyed every minute.

(02:30):
Yes I did. Oh like Ihad some genuine laughs, I had
like some I really enjoyed the movie. Before we get started, I will
just lead off with this one tinycomplaint, and that is that this is
the Great American Family Channel, Soif you're going to make a movie,

(02:52):
I know it's cheaper to film upin Canada and that's where you make all
the movies, but at least haveone American in the film. It was
just all the accents were very distracting. Everybody was Canadian, even though it
was supposed to take place in Chicagoand um, and it was just like
very distressing to me to hear peoplestruggle to say pasta. So that's my

(03:17):
only little complaint. If just justlike import one American and you can or
they can just take like accent coachingfrom you, you lost your Canadian accent.
They can do it too. Idid, and you can do it.
Here's what you do, Canadians. You gotta flatten. You gotta flatten
the way you say passed up.That's how you flatten everything. You have
to flatten all those o's and a's. I learned how to speak American in

(03:39):
the Midwest. Um. That waswhen I finally used so I have a
slight Midwestern flat accent. Um.But that's just a small funny complaint.
We know that these movies get filmedin Canada. And the Castle was great,
by the way, I loved everybody. Everybody was horrible and relatable.
I liked everybody. Yeah, no, I didn't. I thought it was

(04:00):
just a silly little complaint. Butget us into this movie. What's this
movie about? Amelia? Oh,all right, I'm just gonna kick us
off. Yeah, kick us off. Poppy is a busy businesswoman, which
we know because she's getting ready forwork and she's doing a million things at
once, and she is just she'sgot to get off the door now,
so she's she's leaving. She's onthe phone. She's calling her boyfriend Joel,
who is a chef, and she'slike, have you had a chance

(04:23):
to look at wedding venues? Hehasn't because he is a busy businessman too.
He's got a restaurant to run,Gia, he doesn't have time.
Yeah, this is what this is. Um, I haven't. I did
take a little bit of issue withher fiance, who's a busy businessman but
a chef, and I thought hewas a little rigid for a chef.
Chefs are creative and he didn't seemto have any creativity to him. But

(04:46):
that's fine. What we do knowis that he is very busy. And
I will say this, it tookme. It took me like maybe twenty
minutes into the movie before I understoodthat they were engaged for real. I
thought they were setting us up forbecause they were so distant from each other.
They were so fake, they weregonna be a fake engaged couple.

(05:09):
No, I thought that he wasgonna I thought the writers were doing it
on purpose, making it bang onpurpose, so that we would think she's
engaged, but really like he's herbrother and she's planning. It's betting or
something, you know. Um,And until she said I'm engaged to somebody,
I still was holding onto that ideathat he was just her brother,
cousin or something. And so theywere very distant. They're both both very

(05:33):
busy business people. They were theywere so speaking of mismatches, she gets
downstairs the lobby and her boots orshe gets to the elevator, sorry,
and her boots aren't mismatch. She'sgot one pair, one boot from two
different pairs on her feet. Andapparently this happens regularly, right, She's
like, not again, how manytimes this happened? I've been really busy.

(05:58):
I can't think of a time whenI've and so busy that I've had
on two different Because you feel thatI once packed two different shoes. I
have two pairs of high heels. They're less different, collar, different heel
height, and I packed two.Got to a business event. I was
supposed to go to open my suitcase, and I had two different shoes on

(06:19):
my feet, just more different.Did you have shoes to wear or did
you have to go in your speakers? No? I had other shoes I
could wear, but I mean, you know, they did not get to
my feet. Yeah, no,that's something different. But anyway, she's
very busy. So in the elevatorshe meets this guy. We don't know
who he is yet, but theelevator just stops, and she's like,

(06:41):
this happens. It's an old building. Sometimes the elevator stops. It'll be
fine. Well, he's claustrophobic,so she calms him down. She calms
him right down, and they geton their day. She helps him do
some breathing exercises. She's just like, day, just look at me starting
to freak out, which I wouldtoo, by the way, she was
very casual about it. I knowit was in a very like it's not
a high rise, it's just likea brownstone apartment, so speak, But

(07:04):
um my, my mind would definitelybe turning to plunging to my death.
Okay, in the elevator. Sowell, I hope you get stuck with
me, because I would be like, we're fine. No, No,
I would hope was that I wasstuck in the elevator with a hot single
guy, right, Heira, Ihope that for you too, Thanks,

(07:25):
thank you. The one time Idid get stuck in an elevator, it
was just with my dog. Sosorry about that. Well, we can
make arrangements. We'll talk about thatoffer. We'll think about it later.
Um, all right. Poppy getsto work and she works for Ingrid,
who calls herself a beauty therapist.Basically, she is a beauty influencer.

(07:46):
She has been there for six plusyears. She's never been promoted. She's
kind of had it. But theyare bringing in the Aspire ad agency to
like to bring her to the nextlevel because she's about to launch a line
of products. So they're having lunchwith Oh no, wait, so they
meet they meet with a spire. They're very excited about this ad agency.

(08:09):
So this is what I found veryinteresting. Hey, I'll say this,
excuse me. Ingrid's the bitchiest bossI've ever seen in Christmas Land. Yeah,
she normally there's something redeeming. Now, she does have her redemption arc.
They all do because this is ChristmasLand and no one is truly mean.
But I was like, wow, they went all the way with her.

(08:31):
She was not very nice at all. There wasn't anything redeeming about her.
And then the other thing I foundinteresting is that she was depending on
this like superstar ad agency too.But she has five million followers, right,
she has her she has her ownoffice. Like she walked into the

(08:52):
office and it wasn't like a officefor her and her assistant. There were
a whole host of people. Okay, she's got Yeah, she's got employees.
Yeah. So I don't know. She was acting like the ad agency
was like the superstar and she wasjust the little like engine that could.
But anyways, that's how we're andwe all know that in Christmas Land,

(09:16):
ad agencies really are top of theline professionals. They are, yeah they
are. But but so she's excitedfor that meeting this afternoon, but before
that, she has to have lunchwith Joel, the chef guy, which
turns out to be her boyfriend.Um, so she wants to get married
outside. He says June is goingto be too hot to be outside,
and he makes her this truffle macaroniand cheese forgetting that. She completely doesn't

(09:39):
like truffle at all. So heeats it and she just doesn't have lunch.
He wants to stay in her playin his own place, and he
wants his own furniture when they getmarried. She just bought this couch she
loves. He doesn't want it.She's got to get rid of the couch.
He eats your food, he goesback to work. She's like,
fine, whatever, it's clear myday. It's clear that. Well,

(10:01):
that's the thing. She doesn't saythat she still planning this wedding. It's
clear from the start that they aremismatched. He doesn't seem to have any
enthusiasm for this wedding. He seemslike a nice guy. And that's it.
I mean, there's no like it. That's again, this is why
I thought I was thinking, like, oh, they are brother and sister

(10:26):
or something. Even like he onlylike pecked her on the cheek. He
never Yeah, they never touched lips, which is fine. We don't really
don't do a lot of that Chrissuniverse. It's it's a little hot and
heavy. But they it was almosttoo distant, you know. I almost
was like, there's no I don'teven know how they got to this point.

(10:48):
Although I did change my mind lateron in the film. I understood
a little bit more because I hada friend who kind of went through the
same situation. But um, yeah, I was just like, oh,
okay, they really are quote gettingmarried. But this guy doesn't want to
do anything like read the room ladyexactly. And he left her hungry.
That was just left her. Heleft her hungry. He doesn't even want

(11:11):
he who wants her to do allthe movie? He won't take her what
they I can't remember the name ofthe color of that couch. It was
gray, who's yeah, I don'tknow. Anyways, it matters. Yeah,
and she was willing to do it. She was willing to do it
all. Plus, she she workedat the job for six years and hadn't
even gotten up the gumpchin to likeofficially ask for a promotion. So she's

(11:33):
kind of a pushover. Yeah,um, all right, so she So
they have their meeting with a spiread agency, and of course, the
head guy at a spire turns outto the elevator man, who was named
Milo. M I love that name. I actually loved the name of our

(11:54):
names of our protagonists in this film, Poppy and Milo. I loved it.
Yeah, it's cute, But whatwas so funny and awkward about this
lunch? And She's like, I'vealways wanted to work at a fire which
is like a weird thing to stayin front of your boss. Yeah,
And the boss was so because theyhad met earlier in the morning in the

(12:16):
elevator. Their meat cute and theboss, who is a total bitch,
has been you know, talking downto Poppy all morning and then as soon
as she realized that Poppy knew thisguy, then the boss was like,
oh my gosh, you know Poppy. Why did you tell me you knew
each other? And Poppy's my favoriteemployee and YadA, YadA, YadA.

(12:39):
Like again, this influencer with fivemillion followers is like drooling all over this
ad guy. And I mean, yeah, what medium is the advertising in,
you know, magazine? We findout later. I think it appears
to be just like print ads.I don't I don't know whatever. Anyway,

(13:05):
um ingrid the influencer is deeply impressedthat Poppy knows this gentleman. Yeah,
um, all right, so shego Poppy goes home, she runs
into her landlord, who yes,how her fiance is doing. And he's
like, this man is basically fictional. You dated him, now you're engaged.
Like I've never seen this person, and it's like this little intimate building
where everybody knows everybody. He's like, it's just kind of weird. M

(13:28):
hmm. Well, because her fiancenever comes over because he's not interested in
making the walk over to her placein not Toronto but Chicago and the Brownstone
by thoas beautiful, beautiful building.Um. Yeah, and I actually I
really loved the landlord. He wasyach her mudgeon, but he really yeah,

(13:52):
he was really he was really hewas really sweet. Yeah, I
thought. And earlier on when wehad seen Milo at that building and he
had to run in with the landlord, the landlord's first words to him,
where what are you doing in mybuilding? I legit laughed. Yea,
I love it because you know thatnobody's going to break in, the landlord
is there trying to see what's up. Yeah, and actually, sorry,

(14:18):
I missed a couple of notes.About the dinner that are going to be
important later. Um. All right, So first of all, she keeps
being like, I'm just here toobserve. I'm just here to observe.
But Milo thinks that she is greatand wants her to take the lead.
And so Jordan the brand. Sothe boss is Jordan. The brand is
called I Jordan um. And he'slike, okay, well, Jordan,

(14:39):
you can go. I just wantPoppy to stay back to discuss a couple
of things, and Jordan is likenot happy about this. So here is
where we get to the meat ofthe story. What he wants to talk
to her about is not the eyeJordan account. He wants to talk to
her because he loves this building thatPoppy lives in, and he wants the
penthouse, which is available, buthe got turned down because he's a bachelor,

(15:01):
and this landlord just does not trustbachelor's. They're too wild, they're
too crazy. You can't depend onhim. He's not renting his penthouse to
some bachelor. No, And hewas like enough. The landlord kept making
references to what a cad A cad. I don't want this cad in the
pet house, Like this guy's donenothing. He didn't by the way,

(15:22):
he didn't do anything. He didn'tcome in like Guns of Blazes came in
a very professional looking young man, very well spoken, educated. But because
you're ad agency, you guys, yeah, he doesn't. The landlord no
has he never heard of a spiread agency. But he just simply because

(15:43):
this man was single, he waslike, oh, he's obviously a horrible
person. Possibly let him in mypen was just terrible. This is my
favorite, This is my absolute favoriteconceit in these movies is when there is
some adult, a boss or alandlord or something who is so uber traditional

(16:07):
that they cannot conceive of having someoneworking for them or living near them who
isn't married right or getting married butfake the relationship might be my favorite thing
in the fake relationship. Yeah, fake relationships always my favorite. But the
conceit to get there of somebody becauseit's so highly illegal but also illegal.

(16:34):
Um. So he's talking about howhe needs he needs some help, so
they give him. So they makea trade. If you help me get
the job in the penthouse, Iwill get you a job at a spire
when we're done with the eye Jordanaccount once once this launch is done,
I'll get you the job. Sothen a couple of funny things happen in
this conversation. Um, I haveCeliac, so I thought this was especially

(16:55):
funny. We find out that Ingridmade a comment at dinner that she thinks
and is contagious, so she doesn'twant anyone. That was funny. I
was like, well, let's hopenot, because I'm around people eating gluten
all the time. And I wrotedown the time stamp at fourteen minutes in
twenty six seconds. During this conversationis when we finally find out his actual

(17:19):
name is Milow. No one hasnot his name the entire time. I've
just been writing an elevator guy inmy notes sole time. I did not
even notice. I guess that's true. That's so funny. Yeah, and
I guess dinner like they must havecut some scene out where they actually did
introductions or something because we don't knowhis name forever. So the next morning,

(17:45):
Ingrid is like, okay, listen, I know that Milo wants you
on this account. But she basicallytells her Poppy this doesn't think she can
do it. So she's like, well, I'll just do all the work
and we'll pretend it to you andbecause you can't do it. And Poppy
is pretty mad because she's been therefor six years basically doing this job,
same thing, and she can doit. Um. Poppy goes to Poppy's

(18:07):
job. Excuse me, Poppy's jobtitle? Do you do you remember it?
I don't. I don't think so. It's brand management, brand management,
that's her job, brand manager. So and then at one point in
the beginning she did say to Ingrid, I've been here six years. I
just feel like it's time for meto get my own account. I don't

(18:30):
know what that meant an agency, there's only Ingrid. What do you mean
your own account? Maybe like differentpeople manage different partnerships, like she wants
the Aspire account and somebody else isworking on like whoever pays for her to
use their maybe, baby, Idon't know. Whatever. It didn't make

(18:52):
any sense to me either. Ido remember that. No. I feel
like whoever wrote that does not workin social media, right, Um?
All right. So Poppy goes tomeet Milo in the park and he has
an idea, which is that shewill pretend to be his fiance that will
get him the penthouse, and thenyou know, they'll stage your break up
at some point, but by thatpoint the landlord will love him. Everything
will be fine. She's like, absolutely not. She's like, the fake

(19:17):
fiance idea is okay, I'm gonnaput on an ad online and help you
find a fiance which is not creepyat all, which is not creepy like
even at all. Um. Itdoes not go well all of the women.
The only woman who is at allnormal, turns out she thought she

(19:38):
was there to interview for a nannyposition and was in the wrong place.
So still still was like, wellmaybe we could go for a date anyway.
Okay, I mean they met, they met in a park. This
is this part had me wondering.I actually dreamt about it because I thought
it was so it's stuck in mybrain so much. But they had these

(20:00):
interviews outside and Poppy said, well, this is the best I could do.
So she tells him the day before, She's like, meet me in
Victoria Park tomorrow. Just in VictoriaPark, right, this is what you
do. This is always a thingthat happens in moodies, like people hanging
up without saying goodbye, or peopletelling you to meet you in a general
spot. But not like Victoria Parkis huge, right, mean, by

(20:22):
the benches, meet me by theright our landmarks anything you know that by
the homeless guy that's always by thenewspaper stand or whatever, like we all
know him. Whatever. But theymeet and then it made me think that
production couldn't get um couldn't get insidebecause of COVID restrictions. It was such

(20:45):
a throwaway line she said, thisis the best I could do on short
notice. That I thought, Oh, I bet they had to film outside
that day when they really wanted tobe inside somewhere. I mean, if
I was going to interview to besomeone's fake fiance, though, I would
rather have it be outside a publicpark, fair enough. These days,

(21:07):
it seems like everybody's talking, butno one is actually listening to the things
they're saying. Critical thinking isn't dead, but it's definitely low on oxygen.

(21:30):
to Yourself with Kira Davis, anFCB Radio podcasts on Apple, on Spotify,
iHeart, or wherever you get yourpodcasts. Well, I mean the
people that that said yeah, Imean, would you interview to be someone
who's fake beyond? I would not. I also don't know where I would
come across this inter This ad likeCraigslist isn't early a thing anymore. Like

(21:53):
where am I going to find this? This is what I was wondering,
she said. I placed an adas if we do this in newspapers still,
so then I'm like the only foecon tribune in the Lonely Hearts section
the Onion. The only place thatyou would put place in at these days

(22:14):
would be Craigslist. Right, itdoes exist, but it exists for perverts.
Right, It's not like, yeah, this is or whatever. Right,
it exists for perverts and people whowant to sell puppies. That's what
craigs. Craigslist like like the evildog breeders that yeah, you can still
get like puppy meals and perverts.Poppy Meals and perverts exactly. This is

(22:37):
the title for our episode. AsI said, I was like, I
don't know I's gonna name this episodePuppy Meals and Perverts anyway, I just
feel like wherever she's quote placing theseads cannot be a great place to bring
in like a good potential pool ofright right interviewees right, which is why

(22:59):
they did get me. So hefinally talks her into considering being the fake
fiance, but she says she hasto talk to her real fiance first,
which I did appreciate. What Idid not appreciate is that her real fiance
is like, yeah, I findcool, go be engaged to this other
dude. Yeah again, I was. They are so far apart it was

(23:21):
almost too much. It was almosttoo obvious that they weren't meant to be
together. And maybe that was onpurpose so that you're not feeling bad at
the end when they do break upspoilers, But it was almost too much.
But I was thinking, like ifI told Mark, if if somehow,
if somehow I got into this situationand I came home, I told

(23:44):
Mark, I'm going to pretend tobe married to this other guy, do
you mind? Like I'm pretty surethe answer would be, well, yeah,
I mind, Yes, I hopeso. But if it wasn't,
I would feel bad like that hewouldn't even right have like a little bit
of territorial right feelings? You know. I was like, this guy could

(24:06):
have at least asked our a coupleof questions, right right right? Are
you gonna wear a ring? Areyou gonna be alone with him? Are
you you know you guys gonna haveto like snuggle? Are you right?
Is hot? You know? Right? Anything? Is he a serial killer?
Or is he? Is he someoneI need to worry about? Is
he someone that holds interviews for fakefiances in the middle of the park right

(24:29):
on a Monday afternoon, Like justthe basic questions. But he was just
like, all right, if yousay so, yeah, so um,
all right, so he she agreesthey're gonna do it. Um. They
have another meeting with Ingrid later andhe just undermines every idea that Poppy has
and she's like, what is this? So it's not cool? By the

(24:52):
way, who wait? Who,I'm sorry? I said that backwards.
I think Ingrid undermines every idea,Yeah, in front of I got my
words backwards. Yes, Ingrid underminesall the potty's ideas in front of Milo,
Yes, all right. So thatevening she says that her she tells
the landlord that her fiance is goingto come over and she's finally he's finally

(25:15):
gonna get to meet her fiance.Of course it's Milo, and he shows
up. He has a ring thathe gives her, you know, sneakily
at the front door, and thenhe has roses and you know, the
landlord's like, what I told youno yesterday, it was you the whole
time. But he says he'll thinkabout it, he will think about rending
him the penthouse. But we gotto see um. So they go out
for dinner, which they just getsome food off a food truck and go

(25:37):
for a walk and she asks,um, you know, why is he
still single. He's a decent guy, he's got a good jobs. It's
a rough tartey out there. Andhe says it he would rather be single
than be with the wrong woman, which is a good answer, and then
he's looking for his perfect one.Yeah. And then at the end of
the date, she lets him walkher home, which is important because earlier

(26:00):
Joel wanted to walk her home andshe's like, no, I'm good,
I'll just take a cab. Yes, And again he didn't insist. Yeah,
Also he didn't. He didn't.Yeah, I insist on walking you
home. America cities are not ingood shape these days, and I'd like
to make especially Chicago right, especiallyChicago, I like to make sure you

(26:21):
make it to your front step safely. But um, you know, yeah
and now, and she I feltboth ways like Milo seemed like the type
of guy that would insist on it. So I think she even got that
sense that like, this is thething that should happen. And then Joel
her pretty bland if you know, there's nothing offensive about him. Just now

(26:41):
he was just there, uh yeah, who was just like had anything else
to do beside Again, always,I always appreciate that these people aren't living
together. They have separate homes. And even on there on the street when
they're saying good night, these peopleare getting married, they're saying goodbye.
Goodnes just gives her a peck onthe cheek. So they have a conversation

(27:07):
where they don't really they don't reallysay much of anything. There's kind of
saying they're good nights. But thelandlord, whose name is Tony by the
way overhears them. I kept beinglike, oh, he's going to hear
them say something crazy. He didn'treally, but it was interesting that he
was like overhearing the conversation regardless,Um, all right. The next day
it looked like enough to tip offTony that something wasn't right here, right,

(27:27):
that this wasn't Yeah, like ahuge romance, yeah going on?
All right. The next day sheis with her real fiance, Joel,
and she wants to show him thebotanical gardens as a potential wedding venue,
and he's like, I'm allergic tolike all of this stuff. So he
doesn't know that she hates truffle. She doesn't know he's allergic to plants.
It's just a mess. How didthese people get together? Have they ever

(27:49):
been on a date? I don'tknow. Maybe they in the park.
Have they ever had a full conversationabout anything? No? Um, And
he wants to get married at hisown restaurant where he works or runs it
or whatever. So it's kind ofa mess. Oh yeah, it was
like such a lazy He's walking throughthe botanical gardens. He's like, he's

(28:11):
like, I didn't know there's gonnabe so many flowers here. Well little
about botanical gardens. There's all kindsof plants in there, and um,
I also, by the way,I think the botanical gardens seem like a
nice place to get married, butthey're always steamy and stuffy. I think

(28:32):
it's a bad idea. Did youanybody listening it? Have you gotten married
and botanical gardens? What was like? Right to us Very Married podcast at
gmail dot com. Um and tellus what it was like, because it's
very it's always very damp inside botanicalgardens. It's always especially if it's winter,

(28:52):
I mean, um, and thenwe're going to get buried in the
summer, so then it's extra hotbecause we got the sun beaming down.
I don't know. Not a greatidea, that being said, Joel's idea
to just get married at his workplace, like, right, that was not
I was not very creative. Um, all right. Poppy talks to Ingrid
back at the office about a guerrillamarketing campaign where they're gonna just like do

(29:17):
makeovers on women using this new palettethat she's launching, and that's going to
be kind of what her thing is. And she's like, she says,
no, she wants a theme thathas something to do with royalty. She's
not totally sure yet, but shewants royalty involved. Okay, whatever,
Um, that evening Max is comingover. Max my low, excuse me
is coming over. Um he isgonna make pasta fasta for Tony and to

(29:41):
try to, um, you know, impress him. And Tony's like,
I'm a Chicago Italian and this man'sgonna try to make pasta Like this is
gonna be good. I'm a ChicagoItalian. He's going to try to Italian
pa terrible, like somebody help thesepeople, help them, help the Canadians.

(30:07):
Um. So he So she's likehiding all the pictures you know,
of her and of herself with herreal fiance before Tony gets there. Blah
blah blah. Milo shows up andhe's like, oh my gosh, I
love that couch. He recognizes likethe colors and everything immediately. So we
know that they're more in sync becauseJoel didn't care about her couch in the
least, right right, Um,all right, So they're talking about he

(30:30):
is like making the pasta himself, you know, like cranking it through the
thing. She's talking about it.She's always wanted to visit Japan, but
she's never been there. They're gettingto know each other, which she never
did with Joel. As we cantell. Um, he says he likes
jazz, which, as far asI'm concerned, as his major red flag.
Um. Yeah, any white guy, any any buttoned up white guy

(30:51):
that tells you he's a big fanof jazz. Yeah, I feel like
that is now you don't really likejazz, do you? Well? And
if he does, I also Ihate jazz. So that's just a yeah
if you like that. No,no, I does anyone really like jazz
or does jazz just exists because itis something that people can say they like,
right, makes you feel good aboutyourself, makes you feel it makes

(31:12):
you feel a little bit better abouteverybody than everybody else. Um, all
right, So when Tony shows up, he's having dinner. He can't believe
how good the pasta is. Butthen he recognizes the specific breed of Parmesan
cheese, which Milo talked about howwe had to go all over the city
to find the specific breed of parmesan, which I did know it had to
breathe but okay, and Tony recognizesit. So he is like he is

(31:34):
all in. He thinks, yeah, no, who's the best. He's
a real Chicago Italian exactly, it'sa real Chicago. He recognized the breed
of the parm right away. Hegets it. He gets it. But
at one point he opens a drawerand that's where she had hidden the pictures

(31:55):
with Joel yes, and so likecloses it really quickly. She's like,
oh, here's like the bottle openor whatever he needed. Um. So
we're like, did he see thepicture? We don't know, all right,
So he loves the pasta and says, you know, my sister is
a wedding planner. Why don't youmeet with her? And Joel's like,
okay, not Joel. Milo islike, okay, you know, he
probably could have slowed down a littlebit. They don't actually need a wedding

(32:19):
planner because they're not getting married. But but they but they He can tell
by the way that Tony says this. Tony the the authentic Chicago Italian he
tell he can tell the way Tonysays this, like this is a deal
bricker. You you should hire mysister because you know, you're trying to
get his penthouse and you're trying toprove to me that you're a good guy.

(32:40):
At this point, you know,I think we are starting to get
the Tony's playing a game here.He knows something's off he's gonna milk them
for all it's worth. Um whilehe figures out what's going on. Um
and uh. And Milo really wantsthis penthouse. It's got a butler's pantry.
It does. It's an old buildingwith character. And I don't blame

(33:01):
him. I love old buildings.I grew up into the Victorian house.
I love a leve old building.So I get it. I get it.
That building that they used for theexteriors was amazing. Even the interior
was amazing. I don't know ifit was the same place, but it
did look beautiful. Yeah. Sothe next day they meet in the morning.

(33:21):
They decided they're like, dinner wasa huge success, And they have
a meeting with Wanda, the weddingplanner tonight and she's like, bring your
wedding book. They don't have awedding book. They don't have it.
It's supposed to be like ideas forthe wedding. But also she wants like
pictures of them throughout the years soshe can get like a field for their
relationship. So they just photoshop upa bunch of pictures. They're going to

(33:42):
get it done. Reminded me ofdo you remember this movie from the late
nineties called Green Card with Duel andAndy McDowell. Yeah, and they and
he needed his green card, soshe married this you know, brash Frenchman
and then they end up falling inlove. But they but there's a point
where they have to have a book. They have to take a photo books

(34:06):
when we still had those things toimmigration to prove that they were in a
relationship. And so they had toand they didn't have photoshop. They had
to cut out their faces and tapethem on. But that's what it reminded
me of. Yeah, you're like, we'll take it. No, Actually

(34:29):
in that movie he didn't get thegreen card. They didn't, but they
had really did. Thirty year oldspoilers. Sorry, sorry, all right,
So he describes his perfect wedding toum Poppy and she is like completely
like heart eyes emoji looking at him. It's the exact kind of wedding that

(34:50):
she wants. But he says he'sjust never been in love, so he
had he knows what he wants andhe's just never found him. Meanwhile,
Ingrid has lost her mind and herroyalty theme has turned into her as Marie
Antoinette, and that's what she wants. This new campaign to be which is
just not a great idea. Yeah, ridiculous. That evening, Poppy and

(35:14):
Milo meet up again. They havetheir wedding planning meeting. It goes great.
She thinks they're wonderful, but shewants them to do a cake tasting,
which again Milo says yes to.He also says no to the Marie
Antoinette idea, and but Ingrid,She's like, well Ingrid wants to see
progress. We've got to come upwith something. Let's see So Ingrid,

(35:37):
they go, okay, So theygo to the cake tasting the next day.
Yes, and there's a little bitof a problem because Milo just agreeing
to the cake tasting without asking Poppymeans that he agreed to the exact same
time and the exact same bakery whereshe is actually tasting cakes with her actual
fiancee. So they do that wholething that we've seen in a million movies

(36:01):
and sitcoms where like someone's on twodates at once or whatever, and they
keep running back and forth and thenexcusing themselves for a moment and going to
the other one, and so she'sforgetting he liked this cake. He hated
the same one, you know, who likes what it was a bit of
it was a bit of a physicalcomedy. I'm a soap dish or something
like that. But I um.Again, this is another situation where Joel.

(36:23):
She tells Joel she's she's not foolingJoel. She's totally up front with
him. She's totally honest. Hey, they're in this other room. I
gotta do cake tasting with them.Is that okay? And again he's just
like, oh, sure, youknow, sure, We'll just make the
cake and then I'll go, whichis what he did. Which is what
he did. Yeah, completely didn'tlike chocolate, which is clear. She

(36:43):
liked chocolate. Yeah, he didn'tlike chocolate. She loved the lemon.
And she went into another room andwhen she came back, he had already
picked the red velvet. Yep.And then he was off. And then
he accommodatingly agreed to go out theback so that she could be with her
fake yeah and the wedding players crazy. Yeah. Yeah, let's see Ingrid.

(37:08):
Oh. So back at the office. While she's doing this, Ingrid
is looking for something at work.So she starts just going through Poppy's desk
and she finds the wedding book.So she realizes that Poppy and Milo are
engaged, and that is a completegame changer for her because she because now

(37:32):
she's connected to the Aspire Agency ina way she didn't realize, and that
is a huge deal. Obviously.Obviously it's a huge deal to be connected
to the ad agency that is themost popular print ad agency in the world,
in the world, by the way. And I think I saw one
employee with Milo, one single employee, like, um, he's and he

(37:55):
seems to be personally involved in everything, but he doesn't do They don't create
the campaigns. They just publicize thecampaigns, which is sort of like a
social media marketing either or a PRfirm. I don't but no, they
don't. We're talking about PR.I don't know what. No, he
says, ad agency. And it'slike basically, what she's hiring him to

(38:16):
do is what she already does.Like it almost seems to me like he
would be hiring her. But whatever, this is how this the plot works
anyways to say anyways, Vert hasfound this, this photoshopped love story.
She assumes that they're engaged and they'vekept it a secret just because because Poppy

(38:37):
so private but obviously she's excited becausethis means she gets closer to this guy
that she thinks can really help her. Yeah, she's excited. Yeah,
what is this hold on son?She throws them? Yeah, so this
is where she throws them, Likewhen when Poppy gets back to the office,

(39:00):
Ingrid is throwing her a surprise engagementparty, and she's right. She's
like, well, this went hasgone a lot further than I expected it
too, because now my boss thingsI'm engaged. This is a mess.
But she doesn't know at that time. Pobby doesn't know that Ingrid bol She
thinks it's for Joel. She thinksIngrid has discovered she's engaged to Joel,

(39:22):
which adds an extra layer of confusion, like why is she being so nice
all of a sudden, So shedoesn't realize Ingrid things she's engaged to Milo.
Yes, yes, did Paul Reverereally say the British are coming?
And how is George Washington chosen toleave the First American Army. Join us

(40:05):
and inger to change your mind. She's done with Marie an twinette. Now
she wants a space theme for hermakeup. Space makeup all right. Tonight
at the building is game night, where Tony and missus whoever it is,
play chess, play games, hangout. So Poppy thinks that if Milo
comes over and they hang out atgame night, it'll be another opportunity to

(40:25):
sort of impress everyone. And hecomes over and she goes into the other
room for a minute, and Tonyasks about their vows. Are they writing
their own vows? Which, bythe way, I'm I think church vows
are the vows. But that's justme now. I as you know,
Amelia, I totally agree with you. I don't think people should write their
own vows. I think they're usuallypretty cringe. It always reminds me of

(40:51):
in um wedding Crashers when she hasthat whole like nautical themed She's like,
I'm going to be your first matefor life and he's will take us with
you or whatever, and they're justlike, can't stop laughing. I think
it's never and I think most peopleand I are writers, So for us,

(41:13):
just being a writer doesn't mean thatit's not it's very a difficult process
to write anything that sounds good, but it's a process we do. I
don't think a lot of people realizehow much effort it actually takes to express
yourself properly in writing form. Andthen a lot of people aren't they they're
not the type of people who wantto be Like, it's different when you're

(41:34):
standing up in front of people andnow you have to remember these things if
to say these things, like Iget a lot of guys, I know,
feel extra pressure on these vows andnow just go with the church vows
and like write each other a niceletter or do something privately when you're yeah,
in private and tell each other allthe wonderful things and all the reasons

(41:55):
you married them. But the churchesare fine. Yeah. When I got
engaged, we had a very quickengagement. We were only engaged a few
months before we got married, whichis how should be everybody. Yeah,
not, you didn't need like afreaking five year engagement. And I kept
a diary. I kept like justa little journal from the night we got

(42:17):
engaged, and then I would writein it, and then I gave it
to him on our wedding night, and I was like, here's all the
things that I've been thinking about usand about you, you know, And
that's how I instead of saying thatin front of all the people, we
did not have all the people, the twenty people. That mean, you
know, then that's a private moment, but you still have that mushy factor

(42:39):
of like here's oh I recently hestill has like keeps it in his nightstand.
I recently went back and read it. I was like, oh,
cringe, are you Glot's not onvideo for everyone yet. So all right,
but they are going to write theirvows these two. So while Poppy's

(43:01):
in the other room doing whatever,Milo is like, well I haven't really
written my vows yet, and Tony'slike, well, what do you think
you're gonna say? So he juststarts talking about like things that he likes
about Poppy and like what he hopesfor in a relationship and blah blah blah,
and Poppy is like completely on boardwith everything he's saying. Yeah,
it was very beautiful. Yeah,oh. So while they were at the

(43:21):
cake tasting, one to the weddingplanner said that they should probably do like
a dance class, and again Milois like, Yep, we're gonna do
it because he wants that pet house. So they go do the dance class,
and of course, as we've seenin every dance class moment, they
almost kiss. Okay, I wantto say something about this. Okay,
go this scene. They are atthis dance class and Poppy is saying basically

(43:45):
like I have two left feet,I'm not I'm not going to be a
great dancer, and Milow says, don't worry, just let me lead,
and he says a couple of times, and I thought to myself, like
how it was so this is whywe love these movies. It was so
refreshed and nice for there was noclapback, right like if I'm watching that

(44:06):
movie on HBO. She's going togive him a lecture about how she doesn't
need him to lead, and shecan. You know, she'll be fine
and he doesn't lead her. She'sa strong, independent woman. And he
would have had to make some apologyor he would have had to look stupid
in some way, like when theydid dance. He would have had to
like drop her or something like that. There was none of that. It

(44:30):
was this. It was this lovelyjust I'm here to help you. I'm
your partner. My husband and Itook ballroom dance lessons and it really is
like a study in relationship building. That's why a lot of couples take it.
There is this back and forth likesomebody has to lead, somebody has
to follow, but you've got tobe like in sync. And it it

(44:51):
requires a strong hand, a manwith a strong hand, it does.
It requires a man who's like confidentenough to guide the steps. He the
women get all the fun stuff todo, but it's really the men that
are leading that. And so Iwas like, what how nice and refreshing.
I just was not an argument.Yeah, and they did great,

(45:13):
Beau, And they did great andthey had a great time. Yeah,
he dipped her. That was likea moment, almost a moment. I
would not count it as it's theclosest we got to someone falling down,
true and being caught yea true.Yeah. The next day she's at her
building and talking to Tony the landlord, and she's moving in two days,

(45:34):
which I did not realize I knewshe was moving out when they got married.
She's moving in two days. Ididn't understand that timeline at all because
they sure we weren't moving in together. That was shocking to me. Well,
of course, when I'm moving intogether, that's not my right.
So then that meant that she wasgetting married in two days. I assumed.
Here's how I made it work inmy mind. Okay, her lease

(45:57):
was going to be yet she wasgoing to move off her stuff and some
of her stuff in the storage andstart moving some of her stuff over there,
and she would either stay with afriend or like Airbnb or something.
Obviously the only Solucia she absolutely wasnot moving in with him. Well,
no, we're marriage, No,but I was. I was shocked by
that information. Yeah, yeah,it was really it was like, wait,

(46:22):
what so she still wants Ingrid todo these like ambush makeover girl in
marketing things. And she's like,if I tell Ingrid, she's gonna say
no. So we're just gonna setit up and she'll like it. So
that's happening tomorrow. Just keep thatin mind. That's tomorrow, mum.
She starts talking to Milo. Milois realizing that he has very real feelings

(46:45):
for Poppy, which I mean, who saw that coming? Honestly, I
didn't. I didn't, um so, but he gets he gets interrupted,
and then Milo goes back to thebuilding and while he's there, he sees
Joel waiting outside, and Joel's like, um oh no, no sorry,

(47:09):
So Tony start, I got thesescenes mixed up, Tony. Okay.
Milo starts to confess to Tony whatthey really did, but Tony's like,
it's fine, don't say anything, and he says, listen, you make
Poppy happy, so you can havethe penthouse. That's that's all I care
about. You can take the penthouse. It's all yours. Um because you

(47:30):
guys are the real deal, iswhat he says. Um. So.
Then when he's leaving, Joel showsup at the building and he's like,
I don't get it. She's alwaystalking about how much this building means to
her and it's just like it's justsome old building. Like what's going on?
I know, I know. Joelis like he's so boring. He's
looking at this gorgeous brownstone. He'slike, I don't get it. It's
nothing. It's like it's freaking beautiful. Anybody in Chicago, would love to

(47:53):
live in a building like that, yes, right, But he doesn't get
it at all. So so Milostarts talking to him and about you know,
getting married and like whatever, andJoel just does not seem excited at
all about getting married, and justlike absolutely starts to panic. No,
he has like an all out panicattack. Yeah, full panic. Yeah.

(48:15):
Um. Meanwhile, the grilla marketingthing is going really well, just
like Poppy knew it would. Ingridis so happy. She's doing great.
Oh wait, I want to backup because I want to say something about
Joel's breakdown. Okay, he sayshe So finally Milo asked him the question
that I've been waiting to hear forthe whole show, which is, why

(48:36):
are you engaged? Why did youget engaged with Poppy? And he said,
well, we've just been together forso long. You know, when
you're you're with somebody for so long, you think like that's the next step.
And I had a friend like thatwhen I was in college. I
had a friend who was engaged tohis girlfriend. I really loved her.
He was like a very close friendof mine. I really loved her,
and she was so excited about, you know, getting married. They're going

(48:59):
to get married like the following yearor something, and and uh and I
was young too, so I waslike looking at it as something that was
so romantic, and oh, they'reso young and in love. And I
asked my friend, my male friend, the mail of the couple, so
when did you realize like that youwanted to propose and get married? And

(49:20):
he was like, well, Iguess I did. It wasn't like I
had a moment, but it's likewe've been together for so long. I
just figured like this is the nextstep, like either do this or break
up, and I don't want tobreak up. So we're doing this.
And I remember at the time thinking, oh my god, it's horrible,
terrible. But this is also whyyou don't just date and date and date
forever. Exactly that exactly, Ameliading ding Ding. That's called this is

(49:45):
why we court. We should becourting. You know, you go into
every relationship with the idea that itcould turn into not that it will no
pressure, but that you're not goingto waste your time on something that doesn't
have any potential to turn into along term commitment. Um and that speeds
up the timeline a bit. Soyou're absolutely right. Anyways, long story

(50:05):
short, my friend and his fiancedid break up a few months later.
Yeah, before they never did beforethey got married. They never did make
it to the Altar, Thank goodness. I don't think it would have been
good for either of them. Um, but that's what I was thinking about
when he said that. He waslike, we've just been together for so
long, and I thought, youknow what, there's a lot of guys
out there like that. Yeah,He're like, well, I've just been

(50:28):
with her for for so long, ladies, Yeah, don't Yeah, you
don't want that guy either. Iknow you want the marriage, but you
don't want that guy either, theguy that's just marrying you to tick off
a box. Yeah, anyway,Joel, he was panicking. Joel was
panicking. Um so, anyways, but you forgot to mention that Ingrid's guerrilla

(50:49):
marketing campaign was ware at the botanicalgardens. Oh y, yes, she's
really obsessed with gardens. And asshe's leaving event, Joel is waiting for
her, and it's like, youknow, we need to talk. I
just had a panic attack about alot of spending the rest of my life
with you. It seems like abad it seems like a bad sign.

(51:13):
Yeah. So she also realizes thisis not working, you know. Um,
so she goes so she sees Milo. Milo wants to like toast to
a successful girl the marketing campaign, but she's really mad because now her engagement
is off because of something that Milosaid to him to see Joel, and
she's like, come on, andnow what did you say? What did

(51:35):
you say to like all of asudden change his mind and make him come
tell me I'm not the one anymore? Right, And then when Ingrid realizes
that she was pretending to be engagedto Milo but she was actually engaged Joel
the whole time, she fires herfor being a liar, even enough lilied
to her. She just assumes thewrong dude she did. But also she
yeah, I got it, Iget it, Ingrid, I kind of

(51:59):
get at it. Yeah yeah, but she um. So it turns out
that Tony though knew the whole timethat they weren't engaged, but he could
also see they were good for eachother, so he just like he just
let it go because he thought theyneeded would fall Tony and I think his
sister Wanda was kind of in onit too. I think She knew that
they weren't really together either, butthey were both Tony and Wanda just traditionally

(52:22):
Chicago Italians hands they just causs. So she's like, whatever, my life
has fallen apart. I've always wantedto go to Japan. She books a
flight to Tokyo. She's gonna doit, She's going. I liked that
because who was who said that toher? Someone said to her, what's

(52:43):
the one thing you do that's justfor you? Yeah, the one like
some I can't remember who somebody saidthat to her, Yeah, something that
is only for you and no oneelse. And so I've I don't know
what really touched me, Maybe becauseI'm just working very hard lately and I
have a family, and then Ican't think of the last thing I did

(53:04):
that was just only for myself andnot one single other person like included in
the decision. And I was like, good for her. You know,
she's worked that twenty five dollar flightto Japedion and I don't know I was
sharing for her at that moment.Yeah. So Ingrid meanwhile tells Milow that

(53:25):
she should have listened to Poppy allalong. Poppy's been with her from the
very beginning. She's always had herback, she's always had good ideas,
and so perhaps Ingrid just got lostin the social media, which happened.
We've seen it, We've seen themountains. It's a real thing. It
is a real phenomenon. People startto think that they're their online persona.

(53:49):
Ter calls her to apologize and it'slike, listen, why don't you come
downstairs. I met your building.Let's go to game night and you know,
be friends again. So she's likeokay, So she comes downstairs and
of course Milo is also there, and he tells her that even though he
always said he'd never been in love, he's been in love now. And
they kiss and then they go toJapan together. The end, Yeah,

(54:13):
she does. She invites him toJapan. Yeah, would you like to
go to Japan? I've just bookedmy ticket and he says yes, obviously
they will have adjoining suits. Wellobviously, right, they're not going to
be And then somebody, I thinksomebody said something about planning the wedding and
they're like, oh, we don'twant to move so fast. They calm
down. Well it's like, well, now just go ahead and do it.

(54:34):
You know, he've got the ring. You've already planned the whole wedding.
Make it happen. And he andalso here this is the other thing
that I appreciated about. This iswhy we watched these movies again because it's
such traditional values that are just assumed. Obviously, Milo is not going to
stay in that building if he's havinga relationship with Poppy, because it's almost

(54:58):
like living together. So did Milodo he gave up the penthouse? But
um authentic Chicago Italian Tony the landlord, his brother has another building just a
couple blocks away that also had apenthouse available, that also had a butler's
pantry, and original Wayne Scotting workedout for everyone. It worked out for

(55:19):
everybody. Yeah, Patty, himand Poppy don't have to, you know,
be tempted by living in the sameapartment building. And uh, you
know when And also Tony said,he, I guess he doesn't need money.
He said, I'm keeping the penthouseopen for y'all. So if,
if, when this ready happens, yeah, you can move into the penthouse

(55:43):
here the end, the end,And they lived happily ever after they did,
and so did Ingrid. Ingrid hada redemption at the end. She
she came by the game night shewanted to get them back together, and
then she actually played game with everybody, including Missus Kettler from five C who
was a total cheater. By theway, Missus Ketler, every time there

(56:07):
was a game night scene, shewas moving a card or stealing a domino.
Yeah, she was like cheating thewhole I think they all knew she
was cheating and they were like,oh, Missus Kessler, I guess so
I don't know, I will Iwill say this. So I really enjoyed
this movie. I love it.This is it brought me back to like,

(56:29):
okay, this is why I watchedthese things. Yeah, it's I
know what I'm getting and I thinkit's more rare than not, where you
have a full cast that is everyone'sengaging, Like yeah there were there were
no missus supporting characters, weren't superflat. It was great. No,
it reminded me away of my favoritemovie, The five Star Christmas. Yes,

(56:52):
yes, everybody had the writer onthis one too. Yes, who
is the writer? Do you havethat information? There? Let's see,
I've got the iron but Um originallycalled lise On love Not and now you
know why? Okay? Written byCourtney Silliman, C I L M A

(57:12):
N. Courtney Silman. Okay, let's remember that name. Courtney Stillman.
Oh, she's got a couple otherones coming up in twenty twenty three.
Oh great, all right, CourtneySillman. We're gonna have to keep an
eye out for Courtney. Let's keepan eye out. I enjoyed this script,
and um, it hit all theright notes for me. The cast
was great, and um yeah,I I genuinely recommend this one. And

(57:38):
it had everything that I love aboutthese types of movies, the traditionalism,
the silly setups, the goofy characters, and the ending that I want.
It was beautiful. So that isfrom Chicago with love Amelia. At this
point in the in our in ourwatching in the season, we're not watching

(57:59):
Christmas movies, so it doesn't haveall the same tropes that the Christmas movies
had. Um, was there onetrope you can think of in the movie?
That? I mean, kiss atthe end? Kiss at the end,
baking scene. Nobody fell, butlike you said, the dip kind
of counts as a fall. Yeah. Busy business people too busy for love?

(58:20):
Yeah yeah, busy business that's true. Um yeah, there weren't.
It wasn't so heavy, but butit still felt still absolutely felt like a
Christmas Land movie. It oh likein every way Christmas Land goes to Valentine's
Date for sure. Um I Iyeah. I don't have anything else to

(58:42):
say about this movie except, um, what do you think you would suggest
for Ingrid to grow her brand insteadof a gorilla marketing campaign? Um,
she's she's got five million followers.I guess she wants to go for ten.

(59:04):
She's trying to be Now. Theother thing is Ingrid was one of
the original social media influencers. That'swhat Poppy says at some point, which
I'm like, that was the Kardashians. But right, there's no Kardashians and
Christmas they learned they probably learned everythingfrom Ingrid, to be honest. Yeah,
well, Kardashian family, they're alittle bit too risque for to live

(59:25):
in Christmasland. Absolutely absolutely, yeah. I don't know. I mean here,
I think that being that this isChristmas Land, she needs to be
her authentic self and her followers willsee that and she will get more followers,
more AD revenue, more more otherfamous people using the I what's it

(59:50):
called? I right, what isthat? I was just thinking about that.
What the what's their social media app? And Christmas Lee called oh um,
oh man, what was it calledit? Splat? This is like
splatch or splatter Yeah, oh mygosh, It's like I'm like going back
through my notebook to see if Isee it somewhere else, because yeah,

(01:00:14):
it was called like friends splash orthat was something ridiculous. Um, it's
the only social media app in ChristmasLand, and I wish that they would
pull that. I know it's hardbecause you're making a million different movies a
year, but I wish they wouldpull that thread through every yes, through
every movie like this is this isjust what everybody uses. I don't remember

(01:00:36):
what movie that was from, orI would look it was from a Christmas
Wish or a very merry Christmas wish. Whatever. Okay, let's see if
I can find it while we talkUncle the farm um and scoop Chatter scoop
Chatter. Does Ingrid have a scoopChatter account? I assume that's where she

(01:00:57):
does all of her work on scoopchatter. Gosh, she is a scoop
chip five million followers on scoop Cheddar. I did see when I was watching
this movie that Great American Family channelsplaying Christmas movies every Friday night. I
love it. I love it too. I love what they're doing. They

(01:01:17):
