Speaker 1 (00:00):
What's up everybody. It's Tuesday night. It's you boys, It's
Flyers Talk a two D. After a week off, we're back.
That's pretty good stuff to talk about. We got rookie
camp just wrapped up, we got training camp starting on Thursday.
I have it for Doughtob no longer flyer traded the
Columbus and we got the latest on Carter Hart and
(00:23):
what's going on with him. So make sure you hit
that like, hit that subscribe, jump in the chat if
you want to know what we're talking about. We definitely
want to hear what you're talking about. So let's go
talk some fun time to start the conversation.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
Welcome ladies, gentlemen, to a brand new edition of Flyers
Talk a two D right here on a two D
radio dot com. I am Matson Studio, along with The
Dark Wing, Brian Daily, the Broken One, rauh Povia.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
What people. It's almost October.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
Almost almost, and we are brought to you by Specialize
Physical Therapy, the Doc, doctor Paul Videll. If you got
any aggs and pains that are bugging you, go see
the doc. Don't waste time. Make an appointment at www
dot Specialized Physical therapy dot com and then head on
over to Cherry Hill of Burlington, New Jersey. After a
couple of sessions with them, you'll feel as good as new.
(01:35):
That make some pains and gonna be bugging you no more,
and you'll feel pretty good after that one. I would
have to think both mentally and physically. You know, just
nothing like physical pain to bring your mental your mental
fortitude down, so it'll give you everything back. And our
poll question for today, the Flyers will have a strong
(01:56):
training camp which will lead to a strong start to
the season. Obviously, the Flyers still much a young and
up and coming team in the NHL, and obviously there's
a lot of young players, young pups who are trying
to earn themselves a spot on the roster, and naturally
(02:18):
that's going to breed competition, and sometimes competition breeds the
best out of everybody, So that could lead to some
very positive results at the beginning of the year. Also,
there is something to be said on the other hand
of an experience where you could struggle because you're inexperienced
and you're learning the ropes. And obviously training camp is
(02:41):
going to be different than the regular season. Preseason is
different by any standard, because you know you're not facing
the regular roster. Sure you might face a pro here
and there, but for the most part, you're dealing with
their prospects. So, with that being said, knowing both sides
of the arts arguments, gentlemen, do you agree or disagree?
(03:04):
Do you think that having a strong training camp in
the case of the Flyers will lead to strong starts
here in the season with the Flyers in October and
November and such.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
Oh, absolutely, one hundred There's only a couple holes that
really need to be filled, So the competition is going
to be fierce for those final roster spots. But I
I one hundred percent agree that it's gonna it's gonna
lead to a strong start. You know, you got a
new coach, new system, a bunch of new players that
are not not going to hinder this team by any
(03:37):
stretch whatsoever. To Swoopy's point, Barkie's looking good already. So
there's a lot to be excited about for this for
this team. And we've been saying it all off season.
With Ziegris Dvorak on board, you got a couple of
guys who are ready to to to you know, take
the take the next step here, and there's it's just
(04:00):
so much to be excited about. I absolutely think with
Pocket running the new camp and already having an idea
of what his roster's gonna look like, you already kind
of have an idea of what his system is gonna
look like. It's just I'm excited to get things going
here on Thursday, and it's gonna be It's gonna be fun.
(04:22):
It's gonna be a fun year.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
Let's go. What about you, Robbie?
Speaker 3 (04:29):
What I think? I have to agree? How good conscious?
Could I disagree with this pole?
Speaker 1 (04:35):
As a Fliers fan?
Speaker 2 (04:37):
Right?
Speaker 3 (04:38):
But what kind of camp will abate? That's the real question.
Speaker 4 (04:43):
Will mirror the hard working camps under torts where guys
were torn down, got their asses handed to them, only
to be built back up. Or we'll build upon that
level of conditioning and look to further advance the skill
set and the hockey IQ, especially as young guys battle
for roster spots. And that's a like so I think
(05:06):
all in all, I sighed with Bee. I think that's
what the evolution here is in Philadelphia.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
All Right, all right, I will I'm gonna say agree.
I think that if you have a strong training camp
for a young for a young roster like this. It's
one thing that if you have a roster where the
prospect pool is maybe not as deep, or you know,
it's a team that's regularly in the playoffs, normally you're
(05:38):
just waiting for the vets to just get into the
swing of things to get the season going, and sometimes
they don't really appear for much big site, maybe one
preseason game, and a lot of times that can get
you off to a slow start. This happens sometimes with
teams that are routinely in the playoffs, but they usually
rear back around later on and they get themselves back
(05:59):
on control, and before you know it, when we hit
the All Star break, they're back into a playoff position
and usually pretty secure in it. For the Flyers, it's different.
You know, this is a young team, this is a
young roster. There's a lot of passion obviously, and there's
a lot of desire to be on the roster and
to actually be in a Philadelphia Flyers jeracy not necessarily
(06:21):
wearing this not that this is a bad thing to
have this, it's just that you would much rather be,
you know, on the that team that I have sitting
on the archway there we go. I'm pointing at it now. Anyway,
The point being is is that with this young team,
if they do have a strong training camp and they
have a solid preseason, I do think that that will
(06:42):
result in positives at the beginning of the year. How
long those positives will go, We'll say, you know, young teams,
you know, they start out with fire, and then you know,
you go through your slumps, and then if you can
pick yourself back up, that's going to really define you.
That's the main thing. Is Okay, you get off to
that hot start, you're looking good when you hit that valley.
(07:06):
Question is okay, how long is this valley? How deep
is it? Is it deep enough to sink a season
early or is it enough to where Okay, they're learning,
they're growing, they're going through their rough patch, and then
they have that ascend back up and then if they
can keep themselves kind of not plateaued, but at least
keep themselves steady, they should be okay. But that's you know,
(07:27):
that's what they haven't flow of a season normally. So
I will say agree, I think that they have a
strong training camp. I think the beginning of the season
in October and November, I think it will look pretty
good for the Flyers.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
Yeah, and you also got to think too, think about
all the guys that have been on this roster since
the last time that they were in the playoffs. You know,
these guys are chomping at the bit to get there,
and they're tired of sitting home. They want to compete
for a cup. You know, connect me, Katie Sandheim autumn guys.
They want to get their probably probably more than the
rookies do. I think the rookies are, if they're smart,
(08:04):
they're going to take this step by step. They're going
to just work on making their roster. They're gonna work
on at least being good enough to make the AHL
so they can have an opportunity should an injury arise
or anything like that, or you know, personal performance is
out weighing somebody else on the pro roster and you
can make this, make the switch should there need to
be one. But most mostly, you know, these vets are
(08:28):
they're chomping at the bit to get get back to
the playoffs and and you know they want to bring
a cup back here to Philly.
Speaker 2 (08:36):
Yeah, absolutely, And I think that that's definitely something that
you know is going to be motivating to them and
motivating to the roster in general. So getting into the
training camp itself, I did take a look at the
preseason schedule earlier today. I noticed that the Islanders of
the first team that we're going to be against, ironically,
and if we're going to be facing the Canadians, which
(08:57):
is interesting. And we'll actually be heading in Montreal for that,
which is interesting as interesting as when they were heading
up to Boston for preseason matchup. So one thing I
noted too, there's a lot of road games, not as
much at home so far, at least for the preseason
from what I'm seeing. But I again I only looked
(09:18):
at it briefly. So looking at it, how do you
guys feel about like them kind of traveling a little
bit more during the preseason, you know, do you think
that it's it's a big deal or do you think
that it really doesn't matter since the squad is so
fluid most of the time.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
I mean, I don't necessarily see it as a big deal.
I mean, it's just preseason. A lot of these guys
are just going to be focused on, you know, what
they need to do. Shift by shift to give the
coaching staff the best evaluations that they possibly can. So
these guys, I think are going to make the traveling
part of a big deal. It should it be, you know,
(10:01):
a constant thing in the season. Yeah, it might turn
into a little bit of a bigger deal. But I mean,
these guys aren't traveling too far for the most part.
You're going to New York, New York. Montreal is a
little bit more of a drive, but Devil's Capitals, it's
(10:22):
it's not a far drive. But you know, sometimes being
on the road like that can take a toll. But
for the most part, I don't I don't really see
it being much of a bother for these guys. They're
just going to focus on, especially the young guys. They're
going to focus on, you know, doing what they need
to do to make the roster.
Speaker 4 (10:42):
Yeah, the seven players coming into this camp, so that's
going to be exciting.
Speaker 5 (10:49):
All let me see if let's see if I can
pull that up.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
There we go, Okay, here, let me get the poll
off of there. All right, there we go. So, yeah,
we got quite a nice quite a nice look here
at the roster. There's ables at the top who had
(11:13):
a cup of coffee with the Flyers last year, played
what looks like twenty two games on the roster, which
you know, good for him, and in that time he
did show up on the score sheet, so that's good Barkie.
Of course, that's going to be a big one to
highlight right there as Barkie, as Swoopy said, looking good.
(11:34):
So it's very exciting. Obviously last year the Ohl fifty games,
twenty five goals, fifty seven assists, eighty two points. That
is wow, that is pretty damn good. So you know,
I mean, big highlight there for Barkie. So your Bolton,
(11:55):
Bobby Brink who of course has been with the Flyers,
Alex and obviously Bump is going to be another one
that people are going to be looking at. Noah Kates,
who of course has played for the Flyers last few seasons.
Coots Delarier and let's see is that dor Rt Yeah
it's dor Art who I did not realize he actually
(12:18):
played a few games with the Flyers.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
Interesting, Yeah, he played at the end of the year
last year after he signed his ELC college. She's wrapped up.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
That's right, that's right, that's right.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
Let's see here with Kaplan too.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
Okay, okay, So Christian Devorak who was signed this past offseason,
Oscar Ecklund, and then we have Tyson Forster. Of course,
big year for that. Everybody's expecting out of him, so
we'll see what we get from Forrester. Have every bit
of faith in it. And let's see Matthew Guard Jacob
(12:56):
Jacob Gosier. Ah, what is that Segendron Nikita g Rebeccin
who obviously there's a little bit of interest there. He
played seven games, so it would be interesting to see
how he does going into this training camp. Hathaway Kaplan.
As you mentioned earlier, Brian had his cup of coffee
(13:18):
with the Flyers. Actually I wouldn't even say he finished
the cup because it was only one game, but still
at the end of the day he at least got
to wear the orange and black jersey. Tk Luchenko another
one that's going to be a big look at for
this training camp after what he had done last year.
And then Cooper Malady, Mitch and then we have Jack
(13:44):
Nesbit and let's see Lane Peterson.
Speaker 4 (13:48):
He looked really good at rookie camp over the course
of the past five days. Wrapping up today too. He's
him and the sweetest prospect Jack berglin Man. He's shooting
soaring up the prospect poll this year for Philadelphia Flyers.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
Nice. Let's see here and as bit least, let's see
what it was his Stad's last year in the OHL.
Sixty five games, twenty five goals, thirty nine sixty four points.
Not bad at all. Let's see Lynn Peterson, Nathan Quinn,
and then we have Anthony Richard Orvischard, who did play
(14:27):
with the Flyers for about fifteen games. It looks like
so Masimo Rizo. There was a little bit of interest
in Rizo, I don't know, mostly out of the trade.
Let's see Tucker Robertson, Owen Tippett. Of course a lot
people are expecting something from him now, sam Utalamala, who
(14:51):
I would like to see if he could make the roster,
that would be nice to see. Garrett Wilson, and I
don't see the final name. Little a second, I'll have
to take off the ticker just for a sec.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
Where'd you leave.
Speaker 2 (15:14):
It's at the very bottom. The ticker's blocking it.
Speaker 1 (15:16):
I got Garrett Wilson, Zade Wisdom and Trevor's egres.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
Okay, there we go. Thank you, briy.
Speaker 4 (15:22):
Zade hanging on too, man. I always got love for
Zay Wisdom. Tremendous story and he keeps fighting.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
Yeah, and you know, you kind of hope that maybe
he does have a game with the Flyers, you know,
and hopefully, you know, he can make that dream come true.
Speaker 1 (15:39):
There's a.
Speaker 4 (15:42):
I mean it's looking it's looking fleeting at this point,
but you never know. I mean, you have guys like
that that step up later on in their career and
fill a role, and and that's certainly something that I
think Wisdom can do, right.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
I mean, even if he only plays like ten or
twelve games, it's just like, hey, at least he managed
to get on the roster at one point, you know
what I mean, Like, obviously you'd want him to make
a huge impact, but if he's not going to it's like, hey,
at least he could say he was wearing an orange
in black jersey and it was legitimate, so you know.
Speaker 3 (16:14):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (16:16):
I mean, there's a bunch of intriguing memes on here
that are gonna make some noise.
Speaker 3 (16:21):
For roster spots.
Speaker 1 (16:22):
But like I said, there's not a really there's not
there's not really a whole lot of spots. I think
there's like two, maybe three spots that are going to
be up for grabs, and that three is really stretching it.
But I mean Rodrigo Ables is gonna be one of
those guys. Bump Barkie probably could brink In, who looked
(16:46):
really good in the rookie games. By the way, he
had a few points in those two games he had
both assists and the loss of the Rangers. But Gribencan
I think he's going to be a guy who's going
to get a serious look, as he should been in
the league a couple of years. He's very good friends
with Mitch Cobb, so it could be something really good
(17:08):
for both of these guys. But I mean, Anthony Richard
should not be overlooked because in his seventeen games last
year he did look very good for the Flyers. He
does have I think it was like six points or
something like that, a couple of goals, handful of assists.
And then the other guy that Maddy brought up, who
I think is going to get another serious look too,
is going to be Touamala, one of the only All
(17:30):
Stars from the Fantoms last year, and just the guy
who's showing that, you know, you can put the puck
in the net. So that's I think that's going to
be something that the Flyers are going to really need
to look at as really creative ways to try and
create some offense here and you know, get the power
(17:51):
play back on track, and get the five on five
back on track, and really just make this this season
as much fun for the fantasy weekend.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
Right right. I mean, I don't think it's out of
the ron possibilities. I mean, there's definitely, like you said,
there's a lot of intriguing names there. There's a lot
of intrigue of you know, like players coming in who
can make an impact and some of the younger players
that had made a bit of an impact when they
were around Lechenko for an example. You know, the possibility
(18:26):
of you know them being a little bit more prominent
this go around, you know, that could really help kind
of bolster this team moving forward towards, you know, heading
north of where they were last year in the standings.
Let's see here, God Chris saying, what's the odds Zegris
(18:50):
plays good or great until the deadline fixes his face
offs and have still needing a too a second center.
Would you all entertain Zigris for Jacob goaltender? Only ask
because recent Flyers goalie.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
Is Nope, not at all. If Ziegers plays well and
he fixes his face offs, why why trade him? If
he's playing well and he's putting up the points, and
and they're in a playoff spot, well why trade them?
(19:24):
They're thitin enough at center. I mean, I think the
goaltenders are going to be good enough to get them
to the play back, to the playoffs. But do either
of those goaltenders at the world on fire? Absolutely not.
But Flyers are within at center as it is. They're
not going to trade another center, or at least somebody
that can play center. I just I just don't see
(19:48):
it happening. If anything, if he's playing well enough, they're
going to resign him. That's what I think.
Speaker 4 (19:54):
Anyway, gotcha, gotcha little attendant to the roster. And we'll
get to the defenseman goaltenders here in a second. But uh,
Jack afore mentioned Jack Bergland as well as Porter Martone
Shane Van Saggy all committed to NCAA college program, so
that's why we didn't see their names.
Speaker 3 (20:14):
Pop up on that list.
Speaker 4 (20:16):
And uh, but jet Lachenko is going to be a
hot topic boys because they tried the push to get
that early exception for the Canadian Hockey League for this season.
I don't think that's gaining much traction. I think it's
still set to begin for twenty six twenty seven, which
really leaves Lichenko in no man's land. I mean, he
can still improve, I mean there is still room to
(20:38):
grow at the OHL level, But a lot of people
think that it's it's NHL roster time for jet Lichenko.
And I have a tendency to degree, especially depending on
you know, team needs and and and I think he
can fill that. What do you guys feel about jet
Lichenka's chances here in training camp?
Speaker 2 (21:02):
I would say I think that they're actually pretty good.
I think him having a taste of what it being
in the Orange and Black last year, having an opportunity
to play almost I think, did he not play the
full limit of games before they sent him back down
to No. No, He missed it by like one game
(21:22):
still though it was almost the full amount. So I
think that if anything, you know, it probably got his
mouth watered, you know. And I think that he's more
than ready to try and make that big leap into
the orange in Black Jersey, you know, I mean, does
that guarantee it?
Speaker 1 (21:39):
No?
Speaker 2 (21:40):
But I think that he will definitely have a really
good shot of making the roster because he played really
well last year for that short period he was here.
I mean, he was very creative, I felt, and I
felt that he was very fast, and him and mitchgov
actually worked pretty well together. So I would argue and say,
I think, you know what, I think his opportunity would
(22:02):
be pretty high. I mean, was it a guarantee. There's
no guarantee, but I think they're high. I don't know
about you, guys, but I feel that way.
Speaker 4 (22:12):
Hey, if you want to guarantee, I'll shit in a
box and slap a guarantee on it.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
Right. Oh that's a great movie, great great quote, by
the way, Thank you. But yeah, I think I think Jet.
Some people will say otherwise, but I think Jet's pretty
much a showing to get at least in the extended
look here before sending him down to the AHL. I
(22:38):
do think a little bit of time in the AHL
will be beneficial for him, but I don't think he's
going to be down there all season long. He looked
pretty good in his little sample size last year in
the AHL during their little playoff run. So I just
I don't see him being down there for for a
long time, barring any injuries. I I think just basically
(23:01):
a shoeing because you can do a couple of different
things with the Vorak, you can do a couple of
different things with Zigres, So that does open up that
could potentially open up a center spot to let him
get some third line minutes. But if he can't find,
if you can't find at least top nine minutes for
for Jet, let him play as much as he can
(23:24):
down in Lehigh Valley where he's going to get the
first line minutes. So it depends on how everything kind
of shakes out. But I do like his chances. I
do think he does get an extended look. But ultimately
I do think he winds up down the h all
depending on how the roster shapes out.
Speaker 2 (23:41):
I got you, I got you, got you. How are
you feeling on a Robbie.
Speaker 4 (23:48):
I think he does, I think at this point, and
I think it's going to be a high competition to you,
despite the position difference between him and bump on who
makes his team. And I do see a world where
both of them do. And people will attack me on
that and be like, well then who sits or whatever?
And I said that you could take a guy like
(24:09):
the Borak and and yes, play him a majority of
the time, but then healthy, scratch him here and there,
keep him fresh, right, get playing time for some of
these guys to where you could then maybe if someone's
not playing well, demo to the AHL at that point
to your point, Brian, right, but I really feel based
(24:31):
on what we saw in development camp, well we saw
earlier this week a rookie camp, right, it's just set
up for these two young kids to just have a
fabulous training camp. And that's what I foresay, and I
foresee both of them making this roster.
Speaker 3 (24:47):
Now.
Speaker 2 (24:49):
So hey, chucks, what's going on, brothers? So let's take
a look here and see what we have with some
of the comments here that I started. Catch us up
with the fam here, and I believe is Jason a
team I think that that's the first time I'm seeing him.
Has he been here before or.
Speaker 1 (25:11):
Yeah, yeah, a couple of times?
Speaker 2 (25:13):
Yeah, yeah, Okay, Well what's up Jason? I don't know
if I have but hey, nice to meet you and
he was saying, what's the deal with Porta maretone? And
I believe that was one of the names that was
committed to the nc double A. So that is where
he is going.
Speaker 4 (25:29):
He is a Michigan State spartan, so that that would
be honestly just you're talking about playing with now you
can get up and play with guys upwards at twenty
two twenty three years old, right that, and and just
further match rate there on the collegiate level, as we
saw with what's his name with Penn Steak.
Speaker 1 (25:51):
Gavin mckenneth McKenna.
Speaker 2 (25:53):
Yeah. And then he also goes on and says, so
we draft a guy and it doesn't matter, or do
we keep his rights and that was referring to Mortne
again or was okay, yeah, a.
Speaker 4 (26:07):
Hundred percent would keep his rights too. It's just it's
rather it's where you're gonna play. You're gonna play at
junior level, Are you gonna play in a Canadian Hockey league,
you gonna play in the American Hockey League, or you're
making the roster.
Speaker 3 (26:18):
Now.
Speaker 4 (26:19):
Porter did have some intentions of maybe not committing to
an NCAA program and really gunning for the NHL. And
that was on the table, But I think ultimately it's
a good decision to spend at least a year or
two there, right, And then I'm telling you, I mean
that now you're talking a guy that could equally match
Mitchkoff's skill set and bring another puppy, another stud to
(26:44):
the table.
Speaker 2 (26:45):
Absolutely, that's something that we that I think Mitchkoff really needs.
He needs a partner in crime.
Speaker 3 (26:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (26:51):
And the other thing too is there's a lot of
people who think the NCAA is turning into a better
development league than going back to juniors or playing in
the AHL. You're gonna get better competition. And regardless, the
Flyers have his rights for three years before he becomes
a UFA, so he essentially has three years to decide
if he's going to sign his ELC or not, which
(27:13):
after this year. I think after this this collegiate year,
if he feels like he's ready, he could essentially sign
his ELC and be with the Flyers to end the season.
So yeah, I don't this could be one of those
things where he just wants to see what the nc
DOUBLEA does and then he just sees how the competition
is and if he feels like it's not up the
par he feels like he's ready for the next level.
(27:35):
Come to the end of the NC Double A season,
he can sign his ELC and be a flyer.
Speaker 2 (27:40):
Gotcha, Well, Jason's saying, that's why I'm worried.
Speaker 1 (27:44):
To worry about because nothing to worry about.
Speaker 2 (27:47):
I wouldn't worry too much about that. If he's in
the NC Double A, it's all right, it's not a
it's not a bad thing for him to be there.
As for the start ones, let's brow swoopies from earlier
goalie situation. Obviously we were talking about goaltending stuff a
(28:08):
little bit earlier. And then Jason also said, fidotak training
me trade means what.
Speaker 1 (28:15):
And solidifies who's going to be NHL and who's playing
in the HL.
Speaker 2 (28:19):
That's all that does pretty much. And then PRIs was
saying franchise goalies are harder to find. That is not
that is very much true. It's not easy to find
a franchise goalie. Sometimes you stumble into one. Sometimes one
is pretty obvious, so it can be a challenge.
Speaker 1 (28:35):
And then I agree with that, But for the most part,
I'm not giving up a guy who's a potential one
see for a guy who has potential to be a
franchise goalie, especially when the Flyers have Carson b Arnsen,
who yes, has not really kind of turned into the
goalturnder that I thought that he was going to be.
But right behind him you have Zeregan who is playing
(29:00):
out of this world. So trading a guy who's a
potential one see for another potential franchise goalie when you
have a potential franchise goalie art in your system seems
kind of silly, seems kind of a waste. And again,
is going to continue to keep this need for a
center position.
Speaker 2 (29:18):
Going well, if he brings the opportunity to bring something
to Philly, you know, if he has trade value, you know,
and you already have a logjam and you believe in
the potential of another prospect is higher than the other,
then you know, you make those decisions. You know it's
(29:38):
not easy, but you can't keep everybody, you know, and
sometimes you got to think a little bit more further
down the road than what's going on right now. You know,
if you feel comfortable with the other goaltenders saying, hey,
the other ones we think really have way more high
a verse ceiling. Then you make that decision and you
move forward with it.
Speaker 1 (29:58):
How many times have we seen average goaltender is the
best winning Stanley Cups because the team in front has
been better. That's true, And that's kind of like my
thing is with especially with Zegres. This is a kid
who has so much potential and he hasn't even tapped
it yet to really show off his ability, his play
(30:20):
style and really be a fan favorite here in Philadelphia.
I did they give up a lot to get them? No,
not really. You gave up painting, that was your biggest piece.
But this is a kid who has the potential to
be a number one center. You can't give that up.
You can't give that up, especially when you have goalies
(30:42):
in the pipeline already right right.
Speaker 2 (30:47):
And let's see here and then the another goaltending one
here that John was throwing out. John said, so, will
Edmonton make a run after Carter? Obviously, Carter Hart from
off my conversation, he is not going to be returning
to Philadelphia. And I believe, Brian, you were the one
who brought that up, that he's deciding to explore other opportunities,
(31:12):
possibly in the NHL or elsewhere.
Speaker 1 (31:15):
Yes, his agent actually called the Flyers and told them
because of the situation, he wants a fresh start. He
wants to go somewhere else, which I completely agree with.
I think he should be. I think coming back here
would be a distraction for the locker room. I think
(31:36):
him coming back to Philadelphia would be not fair to
the players in front of him, and I don't I
just think him, with what he wants, coming to Philadelphia
is not an option. He wants. He wants minutes, which
he's not going to get here. He wants essentially with
(32:01):
what he wants in the what the Flyers are looking for.
It's it's just it's not going to match up, so
it's smarter for him to go elsewhere. He says he
doesn't want to play in Canada though, which is weird.
He wants to stay in America. He wants to start.
He wants playing time. He's, like I said, he's not
going to get that here. Some of the teams that
makes sense, maybe Vegas. I think they need they need
(32:25):
a guy to platoon with Aiden Hill, so he'll get
minutes there. He'll get minutes with Utah, which could could
be an option. I mean, they do have Milka and
they do have Connor Ingram, who have both shown to
be pretty decent goaltenders. So I mean, his options are
going to be limited, but there's there's some options out
(32:45):
there for him, and I think Edmonton is the one
that makes the most sense.
Speaker 2 (32:50):
I mean America wise. I mean, like I said, if
I know it's not going to be playoff year at all,
and it's gonna be a it's gonna be a real
baptism by fire. But if there really isn't that many options,
he could always see if San Jose will take him.
And the only reason I say that is it's a
(33:11):
chance for him to kind of re establish himself in
the league. And if that's just a year where Okay,
this is an opportunity for me to prove that I'm
still capable as a goaltender, that I could come back
to the NHL and put on a strong performance. If
he snags some wins for the Sharks that they absolutely
don't deserve, then that might be enough to convince people like,
(33:34):
all right, maybe we should take a look at heart
and see what he can do. It could be one
of those situations if.
Speaker 4 (33:42):
He doesn't go to San Jose, I will give you
my flyer's hard jersey just so you can put like Sharks,
you know, like the Sharks emblem on it and adapt
into a jersey though at least to get some.
Speaker 2 (33:55):
Yeah, that'll give me, give me an opportunity to learn
sewing and everything.
Speaker 3 (34:00):
The last time I'm want to bring that up. He
probably not that way.
Speaker 1 (34:03):
Damage It's no, it's a good opportunity for him. I
think he deserves another shot, and I just wish him
all the best. I mean, he wants a two to
three year contract apparently too, so I mean let him,
let him go somewhere else, sign that deal and let
him get back to work.
Speaker 2 (34:20):
And if he doesn't want to go to Canada, I
mean there were can't There are capable spots for him
to go in Canada, you know. I mean, if he
wanted to, he could have gone to I mean, I
wouldn't want to put him in Toronto. That would be
kind of hard, but yeah, I wouldn't put him there. No,
I wouldn't wish that on any goalie. But on top
(34:42):
of that as well, I mean, even though Dustin Wolf
is a phenomenal goaltender he could work with. He could
have gone to Calgary, and I think he would have
been fine. You know, even if he was platooning with Wolf.
Wolf probably would have still taken most of the minutes.
But I don't think it would have been a bad
situation for him. If he was just trying to get
himself back into the NHL groove, might actually do him
(35:03):
a lot of good. Could have gone to another spot,
could have gone to Edmonton. Edmonton's always fishing for goaltenders.
So I mean he has options. Will those options offer
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (35:16):
I like the Utah suggestion because you could play very
remotely low like media right, and you can quietly win
yourself with VESDA, you know, like real quietly out there
in Utah Vegas. On the other hand, that makes a
lot of noise, and that could be that could cause
a relapse. Man, he might have like, you know, out
in the strip one night, just you know, we won't
(35:40):
go there.
Speaker 2 (35:41):
But well, I mean, if you shouldn't go to Sin City,
I mean another team, he might have the opportunity and
he could go to Columbus and go to the Blue Jackets.
I mean the Jackets. I mean, I'm not saying that
(36:04):
they don't have goalies, but it might not be a
terrible option.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
They got one more now, Well, yeah, Mrs Lincoln's is
in Fidota are going to be their NHL guys.
Speaker 2 (36:15):
I mean, yeah, boy, that would be weird though, if
like heart winds up in Columbus and he actually boots
Fadotov out of the spot, be like, oh wow, you
have two former flyers fighting over who's going to be
playing behind mers Lincoln's. What the hell is going on?
Speaker 1 (36:33):
I mean somebody said Minnesota. I fought Minnesota kind of
doesn't really make sense, didn't They They have and they
have justper Waltstadt, so I don't see Minnesota. Oh you
know it was it was Dylan Dylan. Dylan said Minnesota.
Speaker 2 (36:52):
Ah, got you.
Speaker 5 (36:53):
I mean, if we're.
Speaker 2 (36:56):
What about what's Saint Louis's tandem?
Speaker 1 (37:00):
It's Hooper and Bennington.
Speaker 2 (37:06):
Maybe he could work with Bennington.
Speaker 1 (37:09):
Now Joehoe first their future?
Speaker 2 (37:14):
What about l A.
Speaker 1 (37:16):
Darcy Kemper mhm.
Speaker 2 (37:19):
I mean Kemper's not bad, but I mean it might
be good to have a platoon with him my opinion on.
Speaker 1 (37:27):
That, But yeah, I want to disagree with that. I
just don't think that Kemper wants to lose minutes.
Speaker 5 (37:34):
To somebody else.
Speaker 2 (37:36):
No, I'm sure he doesn't. I mean, well goalie does.
But anyway, Yeah, I mean Carter has the potential first interest.
Will that interest come through in the NHL. That remains
to be seen, you know. I mean we're getting close
(37:56):
to the beginning of the season, so who knows, maybe
somebody will come calling him.
Speaker 1 (38:01):
They will, he can, he can. I believe the timeline
is he can sign with the team on the on
October first. I think he can work out with the
team on October fifteenth, and then December first, he's eligible
to start playing in those games. I think that's the timeline.
(38:23):
The fifteenth I'm a little shaky on, but I know
the first he can sign, and then December first, he's
all All five of those guys are eligible to be
back in the NHL.
Speaker 2 (38:32):
All right, then, So do you see any of them
going back to their teams? No, No, all of them
are probably just gonna have to go someplace else for
a fresh start.
Speaker 1 (38:43):
Ferment and already signed in Europe, so he's like the
NHL and he actually came out of retirement to do that.
Speaker 2 (38:52):
Well, then, okay, so we'll see, I mean.
Speaker 1 (38:54):
We'll see what happens. I I I'm not saying never.
I'm just I don't think they're going back to their teams.
I think if they do sign in the NHL, they
signed with other teams to get get a fresh.
Speaker 2 (39:06):
Start, all right. So see John saying, uh, last start
one here he's saying, I'll ask the most crazy question.
I know we need a center, but would the Flyers
have cap space and trade value for Kyroll caprisov.
Speaker 5 (39:24):
I'll let one of you guys handle that one.
Speaker 2 (39:30):
As much as I would like to to bring Kyral
the thrill here, I don't know if if that's like
we'd have to make a lot of like we'd have
to make some moves, like a lot of moves because
he's gonna want money. He's gonna want a lot of money.
I ain't gonna be something that's gonna be just simple,
(39:53):
you know. So in the old NHL, no salary cap, sure,
I could totally see the Flyers trade for those rights
and overpaying the shit out of them. But in today's NHL,
I I don't know. I mean, hey, listen, I would
(40:14):
love to have coroaka pries off here. I mean that
would be awesome, you know, But I I just don't
think it was feasible at this time.
Speaker 4 (40:27):
I think it's very feasible. I'm on the opposite of
the spectrum for you, Maddy. I thinks are one of
the favorites to potentially link pres off when it comes
contract time, because I think they're gonna have that money, Maddie,
because a lot of money's falling off the books as
the cap increases. That could be the big prize free
agent that comes in here that adds onto this rebuild
(40:50):
that we're looking to get in the you know, the
off season leading into twenty six to twenty seven, right,
maybe follow that up with Quinn Hughes the following year, right,
and then we really got some pit action going. But
he would be a great fits. They were building a
really strong Russian connection, and I believe I believe either
(41:11):
the Hockey News or Broad Street Hockey said that the
Flyers were one of the favorites to land them.
Speaker 2 (41:16):
I mean, if that is the case, then wonderful. I'm
so down with him being here. I'm just used to
it being caution and holding pattern. So I'm used to
that kind of take on things where it's like, yeah,
it's not happening.
Speaker 4 (41:30):
It's cool, it's cool because when I caught the news
thread of this, right, just like that girl's Annie from
Happy Gilmore too, I creamed in my short.
Speaker 3 (41:39):
So I was like Carill in Philadelphia, ARCHI black, Let's go.
Speaker 2 (41:45):
I mean, I will say this right now, if he
was to come to Philadelphia, that would be a massive
shot in the arm. I mean, mitchkov was a shot
of adrenaline. This would be a double dose of it.
Because Capri Stoff has NHL history under his belt that's
been pretty well proven, with playoff experience on top of it.
Speaker 1 (42:04):
And this is also this is this is a kid
that's had He's in the same situation as mitchkalv so
he's already been there. And you know, there's a lot
of money being freed up again after this year too.
So I was looking at pug Pedia. You know, just
from the buyouts alone, you're freeing up almost almost seven mil. There.
(42:29):
You're losing Noah Julson and Dennis Gilbert at the end
of this year. You're also probably gonna lose Rodriguo obols
Ables de Laurier's contracts up after this year. Christian Devorax
is gonna free up another five mil there, So there's
gonna be money. Plus what Robbie said, you know, the
(42:51):
CAP's gonna go up. So you know, whether the rumors
are true that he turned down that contract or not,
he's gonna get sixteen seventeen from somebody.
Speaker 2 (43:01):
No, he certainly will, and why not the Flyers listen again?
Speaker 3 (43:05):
Also, part of the rule changes coming up.
Speaker 4 (43:07):
I'm not sure if it's affective for this season or
next season, but doesn't that lower the max contract line.
Speaker 3 (43:11):
To yes, seven years? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (43:14):
So I mean that that makes it another another feather
in the cap of potentially inking him. And yeah, we're
gonna get into a heather in a bit. This is
a eulogy for you, yes, for your for your fandom
of FADUTF, and for itself because you know, let's just
face it, what happened the last time the Flyers set
(43:34):
a Russian gold tender Columbus to Columbus. It worked out
pretty good, right for Columbus.
Speaker 2 (43:39):
Sure, I mean I will say this, When we did
send you know, Bob Off to Columbus, you know, he
kind of made them relevant. We got Mason in return,
and did it compare? No? I know, I don't. I
didn't hate Mace, though I did not hate him when
(44:00):
he was in a Flyers jersey, but it was still like,
he's definitely not Bob.
Speaker 4 (44:07):
Yeah, but at least we got the stone cold Austin action, right, Yes,
we breaking.
Speaker 2 (44:14):
We got stole called Steve Mason, so you know we
did get that. Let's see, Brad christ its saying, do
we get a draft pick in return for Fidotov and
someone else in return for the trade?
Speaker 1 (44:28):
Not someone else? It was a twenty twenty six six thrown.
Speaker 2 (44:31):
Pick, gotcha, And let's see, and I think that was
pretty much that one. And yep, there we go. Okay,
so we're caught up. So now that we've got that
taken care of, I guess it's time we talk about it.
So yeah, Fidotov is now officially wearing a blue red jersey,
(44:56):
a blue, red and white jersey for the Columbus Blue Jackets. Yes, Heather,
we we know, we know, we're here for you if
you need to, if you need to get your feelings
out in the chat. Will be your your support group
right now, you know. But Fidotov anonymous aside, we have
(45:22):
an interesting situation with the goaltending. You know, do you
guys feel like Fidotov is the last goalie that the
Flyers are gonna wind up trading off here? Or do
you feel like there's a since there's such a logjaming
goal that you kind of feel like potential here if
someone really isn't adding up that they might just send
(45:43):
them out too and just keep on seeing when the
next goalie is coming around, Like, do you guys feel
like that might be something the Flyers might start doing
as they get further along.
Speaker 3 (45:57):
I don't think so, because I think this is the
move they needed to do.
Speaker 4 (46:00):
They had three goalies for only two spots right now.
They saw that bro that issue, and I just I
think this is a great move by Danny. I mean,
not only do do the Flyers shed to Dutovs three
plus million dollar contracts, Brian said, we get that sixth
round pick in twenty twenty six as well, and now
(46:22):
you'll have Cole Sloth And that's key thing. We weren't
really sure, right, There's always that sense of disconnect there, right,
But he reported as he should, and let's face facts,
to Doutav because he got delayed by Russia coming over.
It really thwarted his development to the point where he
(46:43):
went from potentially being a star, if not a franchise
guy to basically a backup at best, and that's what
he's gonna serve for Columbus. But I just feel that
this is a feather in the cap for the GOI
pipeline because you give Cohlsloff another year here to match. Right,
(47:04):
He's still unproven, only twenty three years old, he's still developing,
but his reporting the camp, don't kid yourself, they really
put the wheels in motion for this trade.
Speaker 3 (47:14):
Now.
Speaker 4 (47:16):
They have the two young pups in the High Valley
behind the two nhlready netminders in in Aarison and Flidor,
and I just feel that this right now is set
up for both. Who's going to win that battle in
the development camp for the Phantoms is gonna be beyondsen
(47:37):
because yeah, okay, you could say what you want. He
hasn't done this and he hasn't done that yet. But
he's still young too, and he still has time to
be that guy, right, and I'm.
Speaker 3 (47:47):
Not ready to give up on him. Right.
Speaker 4 (47:49):
Khlesloff could be that answer. Zeb Reagan could be that
answer as well. Right. But in the end, now you
got a clear pipeline and if one of these young
guys is ready to come on up, then maybe dish
of Ladaar you dish Sam Arrison to clear that room
at that time.
Speaker 3 (48:06):
But the du talk Heather, he will be missed. It's
gonna be.
Speaker 4 (48:11):
Twenty nine years old though come November day be right
before my birthday, which is cool.
Speaker 3 (48:15):
So it's my compadre.
Speaker 4 (48:17):
But I think it's just clear he didn't fit Brian,
he didn't fit in the future plans here with with Philadelphia,
So this was the move that they needed to do.
Speaker 3 (48:28):
And it's good housekeeping.
Speaker 1 (48:31):
Yeah, no, And that's kind of what it came down
to was we knew where once Vlidaar was was signed.
We we they kind of set in stone or set
the like you were saying, set the wheels in motion
that somebody is getting moved. Uh. The question was always
going to be who was it going to be? It
(48:53):
was was Kolosov coming back? Was uh be honest and
going to be able to handle a full season in
the AHL? Is he ready to handle a full season
in the HL? So some of those questions have been
answered over the last couple of months. And Andy, they
saw that Fidotov had they had an opportunity to move
(49:15):
for Dotov.
Speaker 2 (49:16):
And and.
Speaker 1 (49:18):
Yeah, you probably maybe could have gotten a little bit more,
but you know, think he said twenty nine years old,
it's gonna be a backup. There's really no not a
ton of extra value you could probably squeeze out of that.
But I mean, you're you ask Columbus to take on
his entire contract right now. Unfortunately, that's gonna lower the
(49:43):
draft pick that you're gonna you're gonna get, so you're
gonna get more of like a fair value for that.
But you know, just just it. It kind of opens
up the logjam a little bit. So it's gonna allow
these guys to get the playing time, to be able
to develop in that playing time, to allow Zewagan's to
still have that time in the KHL to get his
(50:07):
self situated before coming over here, and hopefully by that time,
Erson's in another contract year. He's an RFA at the
end of this year, so we're gonna figure out what
they're gonna do with him. They're gonna figure out if
Kolosov is good enough, maybe they move Erson and open
up that spot for z of Reagan to come over
next year. So this opens up a couple of different
doorways that the Flyers can wind up going as far
(50:29):
as goaltending goes, or to even what PRIs was saying earlier,
you know, maybe they bring someone in from the outside
again and try and go after a goaltending prospect. So
I mean, you never know what's gonna happen. But with
fadutav out of the mix now it opens things up
a little bit more for the Flyers. And honestly, I
think last year running essentially three goaltenders was a little
(50:52):
bit of a joke, But I don't have to worry
about that this year. It's Arison and Vladark.
Speaker 2 (50:57):
I mean, for the most part, I think we only
really ran three goalies for what a few months, and
then after that it just kind of faded out. It
was more then injuries started piling up, so then that's
what ultimately led to Ersen's just pretty much the starter,
and we might get Oscar of or Oscar God damn it,
I keep getting him mixed up. Cole Soft Yeah, I would.
(51:20):
I mean I would too. I mean, I love the
fact that he's in San Jose, but it'd be awesome
if he was in Philly as well. He could be
at two places at once, right, goalies can do that,
They're amazing. Why, yeah, it's not hard. Geez make How
dare we doubt goaltending's ability on.
Speaker 3 (51:39):
Whatever that is?
Speaker 2 (51:41):
And hey, listen, didn't you know that I was a
physicist on the side.
Speaker 5 (51:47):
Anyway, that science stuff.
Speaker 2 (51:49):
Yeah, that's science, mumbo jumbo history all the way. Anyway.
Speaker 3 (51:54):
I actually remembered that mitosis does mean that. Oh my goodness,
So that.
Speaker 2 (52:00):
High school biology didn't manage to creep in there, didn't it.
Speaker 3 (52:04):
Not burn that brain? So that was the.
Speaker 1 (52:10):
First one I wanted to go.
Speaker 3 (52:13):
It replicated from mitosis.
Speaker 2 (52:19):
So science aside definitely very It's it's an opportunity for
a young player to step up. It's an opportunity for
a prospect to really get the opportunity to step into
a new role. And you know, it's exciting for that.
It's exciting for the flyers to see a new young
(52:41):
player come into the role to try and say like, hey,
I want the spot, I want the crease. It's like,
all right, prove it. Let's see what you can do.
And if they can do it, great, that just means
that that is one last thing, that's one last thing
on the to do list. So I'm all here or
for it at the end of the day, you know,
(53:02):
And hey, Fordotov, hey appreciate what you did for us.
You know, I know it probably wasn't easy, both the
year you got brought over and thrown to the wolves
and then the following year when you were part of
a trio. But still thank you for your efforts.
Speaker 4 (53:19):
APPI you say, he said, he said, only for a
few months and that was a day too many. Yeah,
but you have three goaltenders, you have no goaltenders.
Speaker 3 (53:29):
But I mean, I'll give every cliche out of the book, but.
Speaker 4 (53:33):
No, I I we did see brief instances from Poleslaug
where make it spectacular safe, not just the average safe,
but the spectacular say that steals your hockey games. So
if the rest of his game comes around, you get
a tighter defense.
Speaker 3 (53:50):
In front of you.
Speaker 4 (53:51):
There's a lot of possibilities here where I feel that
this organization set from the inside.
Speaker 1 (53:59):
M h.
Speaker 2 (54:01):
And speaking of being stepped from the inside, before we
close out today's festivities, I do believe that you had
the dmon available for us to take a look at
for a training camp, right, Robbie, Oh, right, then let's
take a look, shall we a oops, damn it, Brian,
you had Let's see here, I mean Landre Uh. We
(54:29):
got Oliver Bonk obviously, big, big focus on Oliver, Jamie
Drysdale hopefully he can avoid the injured list, Denny Jolber.
We also have Spencer gill Adam Ginning.
Speaker 3 (54:46):
Yeah, yep, uh.
Speaker 2 (54:51):
Helga Grants, Noah Jolson, who I think is another one
that you know came over in a trade. No free agent,
that right, he was a free agent and he.
Speaker 4 (55:01):
Has a shot to start with Risto Hurt he could
make He could be that sixth or seventh.
Speaker 2 (55:08):
Man, right, so we probably could see him in a
Flyers jersey Hunter McDonald after the previous runs with McDonald's
I'm surprised we brought in another one to the defensive line.
Let's see Austin Muline, uh, Andre Mondu. And we also
(55:32):
have Ty Munchson, Ethan Sampson, Travis Sandheim obviously Nick Sealer.
Speaker 1 (55:39):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (55:39):
Then we've got Luke Vloswick, Cam York and Eagles of
Mula And I did not realize egors Amula was undrafted.
Interesting m so out of that, I mean obviously the
the regulars, definitely they're gonna have a highlight, like you
(56:00):
were saying, Spencer Gill Oliver, Bonk definitely another one that
everyone's going to have eyes on. You know, it would
be interesting to see what we get out of them
in this particular camp. Are there other names that you
guys you know, really are honing in on.
Speaker 1 (56:22):
I mean, defense is a little bit harder because you're
pretty much set there for the most part. I mean,
obviously emil Andre is going to be a guy to watch.
I think Bonk winds up in the HL for a year,
which I don't think is going to hurt him at
all because he's going to get to study playing minutes,
and that's something that that a lot of people have
to keep in mind, Like if I know, I want
(56:44):
Bonk up on the roster too, but with where the
way things are right now, it's going to be tough
to get him the amount of minutes he's going to
need to continue to develop. But I mean with emil Andre,
I think takes that last last spot. I think uh
Wilson for at least the first month to two months,
however long Wristol winds up missing, which I think Danny
(57:06):
said was about that time frame. Jordan will be like
Robbie said that, that's seventh themat So those are really
the only only names that I don't want to say
are intriguing, but I think are going to be the
guys who are gonna probably have the best chance of
making any kind of impact with this.
Speaker 2 (57:22):
Roster, right and the piggyback off of the Bank thing,
you know, like again we have to keep in mind too,
that's like injuries will happen, opportunities will arise for roster
spots to be filled. What's to say that if Bank's
doing well in the AHL, that they don't give a
call to Lehigh and say like, hey, let's let's bring
(57:42):
Bank up and let's get him his first taste to
the NHL, even if it's just for a handful of games,
it's like it'll get him some experience, which I think
is very possible for this season. So I think that
that's if we're gonna see Bonk in a Flyers jersey,
if he doesn't just absolutely and managed to make the
team right out of camp, I think that that's where
(58:03):
you see him at the end of the day, just
popping up for that quick cup of coffee and then
you know, back down to Lehigh Valley and you know,
back to developing.
Speaker 4 (58:14):
Yeah, I mean dark Horse to keep an eye on
is help grounds because he's got that size, six foot fourd.
You know, he could also fill a Risto roll. But boys,
who I'm really looking for to make a big statement
come training camp and for the regular season for that matter.
Speaker 3 (58:34):
It's Cam York.
Speaker 4 (58:35):
He's got a chip on the shoulder, He's got something
to prove.
Speaker 3 (58:38):
It's time to go.
Speaker 2 (58:41):
It is it is. I know he definitely feels like
the spotlight was on him on that one and it's like,
all right then, but it seems like it's fueling him,
and that's good. It's like, good, let it fuel you
get that star man.
Speaker 1 (58:55):
Yeah. Absolutely, And also you know you just got you
just got your you just got right as well, it's
time to start. It's time to start earning your your
keep here, bro, which I think he will because I
I like what Rick Hackett does for defenseman. I like
what Rick Hacket does for a lot of players. But
(59:15):
I think I'm with you one hundred percent. The guy
who really needs to step up defensively has to be
Cam York this year. He's just he's he really is
too good. For what he's been putting on the ice,
and I think getting towards out of there was was
the best best thing for himself, right.
Speaker 2 (59:36):
And let's see here then, for goaltenders wise, obviously, as
we talked about earlier, there is a logjam. And what
a surprise when you see some of these names. Carson Barnsen,
of course, Sam Erson. We all know Everson's gonna be
logging most of the minutes as usual, Joey Costanzo, Alexi
(59:59):
calls off Jahan if Pere Perettes, Keith Petrizelli and Dan Vladar.
So far the tandem out of this group would be
most likely Ersen and Vladar. But what do you think,
do you think Kolosov has an opportunity to show up? No?
Speaker 4 (01:00:21):
No, Let's say he's posting a nine to thirty save
percentage in the AHL come November and the goal tendant
is struggling in Philadelphia, then you might see him, right.
I think it's strongly Arison and Vladar's net at the
(01:00:42):
on set up until maybe the tread did deadline, and
then I think this is great because Kolosov got what
he requested, He got his opportunity at the NHL level, right,
earn your keep now.
Speaker 3 (01:00:58):
Right, prove that you can do it.
Speaker 4 (01:01:00):
You could do it with Lee High, right, Bjarnton, I
really feel you're going to see him there.
Speaker 3 (01:01:05):
For the full year. He needs a full season with
the Fantoms.
Speaker 4 (01:01:10):
Joey Costanzo with that amateur tryout, that's the guy I
just want to see a practice, right, because that could
be potentially an emergency goaltender. So it's good to get
a little familiar, you know. But those are those are
the nut jobs that I want to have a beer with,
you know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (01:01:27):
Right?
Speaker 2 (01:01:28):
Who knows, maybe Costanzo winds up being that goalie just
out of nowhere, just showing up, Like holy shit, where
did this guy come from?
Speaker 1 (01:01:39):
Yeah? I mean, realistically, you never know. But I mean
I think last year humbled pull us off. I think
that he came in here with an ego. He got
his ego checked hard, and I think he's going to
take the time to let himself develop up and just
(01:02:02):
kind of see where things go. Like I said, Earson's
on a on a one year deal. He could be
essentially could have been traded. He could he could wind
up treating for Darvildars On a two year deal, so
there's no long term commitment to either one of these guys,
So we'll just see how things kind of play out
this year. I do again, I said this at the
(01:02:24):
beginning of the show. I'm actually going to close this
out here, so I said this at the beginning of
the show. I think those those who are going to
be your best opportunity right now with how things look
to get to scene back to the playoffs night Heather.
Speaker 2 (01:02:41):
Again.
Speaker 1 (01:02:41):
Yes, nice to get you back in the chat.
Speaker 2 (01:02:43):
It is nice to see you back. Sorry about the trade.
You can you can roast Danny for it later.
Speaker 4 (01:02:51):
But if I hear you life, I hear you life.
That's why we've been kind of sketchy coming on and off.
But it's the beginning of the season.
Speaker 3 (01:02:59):
Boys. Training camp starts this Thursday, and as Brian.
Speaker 4 (01:03:04):
Quite eloquently put in the email, it's time to run
the gauntlet.
Speaker 1 (01:03:09):
Let's go on the grind, boys, grind is go time
from here on out.
Speaker 2 (01:03:15):
The season is here.
Speaker 1 (01:03:17):
I will be on my death bet and I will
still be here.
Speaker 5 (01:03:20):
So just letting you boys know.
Speaker 4 (01:03:22):
That, Well, I don't have that kind of dedication, but
I respect so I mean, if I'm on my deathbed.
Speaker 3 (01:03:28):
I'm probably not gonna be on here will.
Speaker 2 (01:03:33):
The other night?
Speaker 3 (01:03:33):
I think, I think you will.
Speaker 2 (01:03:35):
I don't know, man, probably we'll be filming it from
your deathbed. It'd be like, you know what, at the
end of the day, we might get the highest views
we've ever gotten.
Speaker 3 (01:03:43):
It's just like I'm ordained and.
Speaker 1 (01:03:49):
He's wearing my rosary the entire time, holding into my hands,
got my cross right hair. We're good. We're good.
Speaker 2 (01:03:58):
Yeah, get the last right at the very end.
Speaker 1 (01:04:01):
Be doing the entire show like death. No one will
ever see me.
Speaker 2 (01:04:05):
Yeah, if you stop talking, then we know what happened.
Speaker 5 (01:04:09):
Oh no, he passed out.
Speaker 2 (01:04:11):
It's like, damn, we were so close, so close to
get intough the whole show without it.
Speaker 3 (01:04:16):
With your avatar to the heartat and it goes quiet.
Do we lose him?
Speaker 2 (01:04:23):
It's like.
Speaker 1 (01:04:25):
Clear, you'll never know. You'll never know because it'll just
be the the jiggly lines. It'll never go flat. It
will never or I'll set them up to be flat
and you'll never know. Either way, it'll be a mystery.
Only I'll know.
Speaker 2 (01:04:46):
That'll prove to me. It's like, oh, Brian was always
dead inside all right?
Speaker 5 (01:04:50):
Cool, don't have a Really, where's my avatar? I think
I still have some in here.
Speaker 1 (01:05:06):
Do we have that?
Speaker 5 (01:05:07):
Where is it? That's right, I'll look for it after
the show.
Speaker 2 (01:05:14):
So with that being said, was there anything else we
wanted to throw out there before we signed off tonight?
Speaker 1 (01:05:23):
I do have a quote from Danny from the press
conference earlier today and I like it. It actually got
me a little pumped up. And this kind of goes
back to what I was saying earlier about the vets
being on the team and they're ready, they're dropping it
the bit he said, nobody could be comfortable or happy
with what they've done in the past. They've got to
(01:05:45):
get They've got to keep getting better and better, and
that includes all the veterans because our young guys are
starting to push and they want more. They are hungry
for more. So God got me ready to run through
a wall. I'm ready for the season to start. I
can't wait for Thursday. Rah, Let's go.
Speaker 3 (01:06:05):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (01:06:07):
That is then the best part of that was the
raw part.
Speaker 1 (01:06:12):
Like scream, I got people around. So if I was
in my own house, I wouldn't.
Speaker 2 (01:06:18):
Care, But you know, I got to own that ship.
Brian own it.
Speaker 1 (01:06:25):
It wasn't ten fifteen at night.
Speaker 2 (01:06:26):
Yeah, I would, Oh what's up Wilson? Really, so I
will say that's a great quote. Uh, you know, it's
that sort of all right, boys, you know, let's stop
pussy footing around. Let's get this ship done. You know,
we got shipped to do, and that means moving up
(01:06:48):
in the standings and being a team that is not
to be taken lightly at the end of the day.
So that's what the Flyer's gonna do. And you know what,
what I'm here for it. Let's be it. Let's be
that team that you do dread facing. Sure we may
not necessarily be in the playoffs at the end of
the year, but you will not have it easy when
(01:07:11):
you face us at the end of the day. You
will earn it if you're going to try. So with that,
and yes, will we are hoping for the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (01:07:23):
You're not a lone brother.
Speaker 2 (01:07:24):
So that'll do it for this edition of Flyers Talk.
Oh yeah, and before we also say off thoughts and
prayers to Robert Redford, who sadly passed away today. So
I know, crazy to think about, but I mean he
(01:07:46):
was what in his eighties, Yeah, yeah, he almost made
it to ninety mile It's crazy.
Speaker 5 (01:07:54):
I mean, think about it.
Speaker 1 (01:07:54):
He was in his eighties when he's doing the Marvel movies.
Speaker 2 (01:07:57):
That's true, wasn't he when he was in when.
Speaker 1 (01:07:59):
He did a Soldier? I think he may have been
in his early eighties at that point. But yeah, amazing actor.
I mean, my favorite role is always going to be
his role in the Natural, but there's so many different
roles that he was he was in and just an
amazing actor and movie worlds, it's never gonna be the same.
Speaker 2 (01:08:23):
No, you're right, So thoughts and prayers, may he rest
in peace, Thoughts press to the family, and yeah with that, folks, Uh,
that'll do it for this edition of Flyers Talk A
two D. We hope everybody had a good time, as
we always do. And uh yeah, next week, the preseason
(01:08:48):
wouldn't be starting just yet. I don't think next week.
That'll be the week after if I stand correct.
Speaker 1 (01:08:56):
Nineteenth or the twenty first, I can't remember. It's one
of those two days.
Speaker 2 (01:08:59):
No, No, it will because the twenty third next week
the Flyers will be facing Montreal in a preseason game.
So don't know if we will be able to react
to it.
Speaker 1 (01:09:13):
Robbie, we cry on here.
Speaker 2 (01:09:16):
Huh nice, I'm quick, so we will.
Speaker 1 (01:09:27):
What a disappointment have they're.
Speaker 2 (01:09:29):
Saying the twenty first, Heather, I thought you left. I
mean we're not that we're mad that you're still here.
Speaker 1 (01:09:33):
But yeah, the twenty first. I think they have the Islanders.
Speaker 3 (01:09:39):
Yep. That's what we said at the beginning. Yep, yep.
Speaker 2 (01:09:42):
So that'll be the first one. So next week they
will be facing Montreal that day, like I said, they'll
be in Montreal, so they might not have it on
the Telly. Possibly, we'll see, but you know what, I
might be able to pull it up on ESPN Plus
or what have you. So either way we might still
get the we might still be able to do reactions
(01:10:04):
to it. Either way, though, We thank everybody for joining
us for Flyers Talk a Too. D as always a
blast with you guys and the fam and brought to
you by specialized physical therapy the Doc, doctor Paul Fidell.
We hope that you all stay safe and stay healthy
out there. And next week the preseason will officially have begun.
(01:10:27):
Excitement in the air, opportunities for young players to possibly
seize the moment Carpe DM and take a spot on
the Flyers roster. We'll see if they can do it,
so we'll see you guys next week right here on
a two D radio. Remember like subscribe, hit the bell
(01:10:48):
