Speaker 1 (00:03):
Everybody's got a price for the million dollar man? Oh
who's that kid? Nick? He looks like Beaker from Muppets.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
The One on one Nick. Right, Yeah, Yeah, I got
something amazing. I did not even I love I love that.
If I get five and they're all in the same
room with me, we're.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
Going at it at one hundred and tenth.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
Welcome in, everybody for this week's edition of the Lazy
Booking Podcast. Here on a two D radio, I'm Chrome.
I'm joined by my co host Eric the Archer. What's up, brother,
Hey Chrome, how's everything going? Good Man, good Man, Good
to have you on again. Big week this week. But
first and foremost, let's show a little love and pay
(01:02):
some bills to Specialize Physical Therapy. You can find them
in Burlington and Cherio on New Jersey at their physical locations,
or you can find them on the web at debt
site there and the Yates Pains long lasting or new
physical issues you have going on, Let him and his
award winning team assist you and get you on track
on a program to get you back to a better you.
At Specialized Physical Therapy dot com, they are sponsoring our
(01:26):
opening topic. We got lots to talk about Eric, But
how can we not kick this show off with the
big event of the weekend. WWE makes its debut on ESPN,
which sounds like it's going to be a cluster but
taking into their debut on ESPN with ww Wreussell Palooza,
(01:46):
and we make the statement here ww Russell Paluza will
exceed expectations. Agree or disagree, So wherever you're at Facebook, X, Twitter, YouTube,
please comment, like, subscribe, share the show out sea and
we really really want to hear from you guys and
get your opinions on this as well. We're also going
(02:07):
to talk about, as you can see on our ticker
line at the bottom here, we're going to touch on
NXT hope coming towards the end of the show and
the UHT hot conversation that's been coming out over the
last day or so about both companies TNA and WWE.
Believing that Joe Hendry is going to officially make the
(02:27):
jump even though he's essentially on NXT television every week anyway,
sounds like he's going to be a contracted superstar sooner
than later. But let's dive into this Eric, agree or
disagree that Wressell Pluza will exceed expectations.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
So again, thank you everybody for joining us. So big events, Saturday,
big weekend for wrestling fans got not only Wressell Paluza,
but you also have aw all out that's happening in
the afternoon. I do think thats lose. It is going
to exceed expectation, and I'll tell you why. First off,
(03:04):
this is the first event on ESPN. I think it's
going to be very critical for them. Well, first off,
making sure that fans can find this this event, because
you've seen them all today on ESPN. On first take,
I think Cody Rhoads was on today, Pat mcafe They
got Pat McAfee working his working his magic on his
(03:27):
on his show, already leaking the opening match, which will
be the brock Lesnar John Cena match. So I do
think that the goal right now is to make sure
that people know where to find it, whether it's through
their cable provider that has the ESPN Unlimited or in
(03:50):
cases like myself, you're gonna have to pay that thirty
dollars to go watch to watch this thing. But I
think WW is really banking on people doing that, especially
those without the providers that are carrying it, So I
do think it's going to exceed expectations because I think
(04:10):
they need it to exceed expectations. I think there's going
to be some surprises. I think they're going to They're
going to go out and kind of act like this
is a WrestleMania. This is a first impression with ESPN
that I think that they can't mess up. And I
think it's very important that not only do they have
(04:31):
their fan base, but some casuals as well that are
just signing up for this app. And I think it's
going to be very important to have a really big
show and a great first impression because if people are
forking out thirty forty dollars for this new platform, it's
going to be very important for the consumer, at the
(04:51):
consumer point of view, to make sure that it's worth
their money that they're forking out. Because people are used
to not paying anything, or paying thirteen ninety nine or
something for Peacock, or maybe they have use utilizing Netflix
at probably between twelve and twenty dollars, So having that
(05:12):
extra thirty dollars on somebody's budget is probably for a
lot of a lot of people not the best easiest thing.
To go through when having that added to their budget.
So I think the diehard wrestling fans going to tune in,
and I think they're going to get a great show,
and I think we're going to see things that we
(05:35):
are expecting, but also things that we may not expect.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
Also, yeah, listen, I think it's a start started show
top to bottom. You really look. I mean, you're getting
obviously the John Cena farewell where you're getting on Rock
that's huge. You're getting the return of aj Lee ten
years after her last WWE match, teaming up with her
(05:59):
husband CM Punk who fairly recently returned over the last
two years to a huge return, up against Becky Lynch
and Seth Rollins THEO we're two of the most maybe
compelling characters right now in the industry. And then you know,
you have I think a match that could steal the
night and EO and Stephanie Veckuer, because I mean, you
talk about two of the best women's wrestlers in the
(06:20):
world or just in general wrestlers in the world. And
then you have the return of the the usso's Reunion
so to speak, teaming up against the Vision, and obviously
you have Cody and you have Drew McIntyre, so you know,
it's a compact show. It's five matches, which we love.
(06:41):
You know, these marathon shows tend to be a little
bit much, but I like that they've they've kept with
the formula, it seems over the last year or so
with these non major events, and I say non majors,
and you know, we talked about the Big four, maybe
Big five if you include money in the bank of
not having a million match is on the card, right,
(07:02):
you know these other p l e s that they
have on paper I still want to call paper views too. Yeah,
but you know, listen, they packed it. They were going
up against all In, all In shifted at start time,
you know, ae W because and it's got to be
because of this. You know, they could say it's not,
but it is it is. I mean, w W was
(07:25):
throwing the big guns at you and they go and
bring aj Lee back. So yeah, no, I mean, listen,
I think because it's it's not one of the major
pls and typically this time of year there tends to
be a lull in the creative and the programming. I
think that even though it is a packed card in
(07:46):
terms of the talent, names, I do believe that the
expectations might be slightly low on this, so I do
expect this match or this this card to exceed the
expectation is going in. I think I'm gonna I'm intrigued
to see what a John Cena match against brock Lesner
(08:07):
at disideration of his career is going to look like.
And obviously, listen, you're gonna get get the USO's of Reunion,
You're getting you know, returning superstars. It's just it seems
like an exciting car. I do think it's gonna be
more of an advancement of everything, so you know, we'll see,
(08:33):
but yes, I think it will exceed expectations. Typically, these
are the kinds of cards that do where you think,
you know, we talked about the last one, right Eric,
where we thought Clash in Paris would be a little
bit more of a throwaway and it wasn't. So I
think we're looking at the same thing here. And this
is also you know, this is where we start hitting
the bewitching hour to start getting towards Survivor series, which
(08:55):
then leads you into uh world rump.
Speaker 1 (08:59):
Right.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
I look at survivorsories almost like the season finale so
to speak, so we'll see.
Speaker 3 (09:06):
The only thing I don't agree with with everything you said.
I think the only thing is I think there are
huge expectations from the company standpoint as far as this
event goes. This is ESPN. Everybody knows what ESPN is,
everybody knows what it's about. It's the worldwide leader of sports.
(09:29):
And now that WWE is now with ESPN, I believe
that the company is really looking for a big number
here and getting a huge first impression with this ESPN platform.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
I think this is this is a.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
Really big show for the for internal, for WWE, for
the fans. I think also looking at your putting Johnsen
and Brock Lesner in this in this in this pl E,
and Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhoades might be the third
third match out of out of the five or maybe
six from what we're here, what what I'm seeing online,
(10:09):
those are the match that that's the third match rank
that people want to see. I think, you know, everybody's
anticipating the mixed tag, But Cody and and Drew has
kind of been a forgotten part of the story or
part of the part of this p l E because
of the return of a j Lee and the anticipation
(10:30):
of the of the sena farewell toward continuing with uh
with the Beast. So I think it's it's gonna be
something that they're looking at like this isn't a throwaway
show to them. And I don't think that the that
the company sees it that way, and I don't think
the fan base should see it that way either. I
(10:50):
think they're really gonna go all out here, I I
and we're gonna talk about some of the matches. I
feel like there's there's definitely opportunity to see, uh see
some people that are not advertised to be uh, to
be added to this show, to add that extra excitement
and add that uh add that value to this.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
This p l E.
Speaker 2 (11:09):
Yeah, I agree. I mean great listen A great point, ESPN.
This is a big moment. ESPN has done their due
diligence to back this thing. It has been promoted to death.
They've beaten the horse a million times over, whether it
was commercials, having John Cena, you know, doing an ESPN
commercial to promote it, and then obviously on all of
(11:32):
their big shows get up first take the Pat McAfee show,
having their talent appear on these shows, and I have
to say they ESPN does a really great job of
covering this stuff, and it is it is interesting to
me to see, like case in point, today you had
Cody Rhodes on, Uh well, he was on both shows,
(11:52):
but particularly on First Take with Steven A and we
know as a wrestling fan, but to hear him and
Ryan Clark interact and Ryan Clark gets some great questions too,
or to see what's his name, Lou coll me out here.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
On ESPN.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
Yeah, Lewis Ritic. There we go when Lewis Riddick like
gets pumped and like you could tell he follows the
storyline because the things that he says, whether he's a
part of a segment when a superstar is on or
the like maybe it's the segment after the reference something
or the promo runs and he makes a statement. It's
(12:37):
always interesting to see. You know, remember we were kids
and like being a wrestling fan was like you're almost
like a closet wrestling fan, or you had your friends,
your your group of friends that were yea, it's just
funny to see, you know, how how popular it is
in the mainstream and to see these really massive sports
personalities embrace it and like truly embrace it, you know,
(12:59):
and and and listen, the reality is, you know, everybody knows,
and I'd like that they kind of stay half in kfabe.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
And half not.
Speaker 2 (13:07):
Yeah, people are dumb, but the appreciation that they show
for the ww superstars when they're on there, whether it
was Bianca bel Air, whoever it was, it's always just
very fascinating to me and enjoyable to watch. So I
agree with you. If they do not deliver on this show,
(13:28):
then it is their fault. It is them who did
not do their due diligence. Now, I I feel like
it's a lot the pricing and everything, I'm very confused.
I saw an article today that if you don't have
it included with your cable or streaming service included already,
(13:49):
that you may have to pay thirty dollars, like you
may have to pay twice this month or something.
Speaker 3 (13:54):
Yeah, So to your point with you know, first off,
with ESPN, I remember or when the when the the
partnership took place, that ESPN was not the highest better
and I think WWE knew exactly what they were getting, like, hey,
we might not be getting the most money, but we're
gonna get the most out of this. Uh, out of
(14:16):
this deal. They've got all these platforms. Everybody knows Sports Center,
everybody knows First Take. You know what you're getting from ESPN.
So I think that's why this partnership is a win
win for both sides. Now, going to the pricing, that's
one thing I think WWE could have done a better
job with is explaining, Hey, if you don't have so
(14:39):
and so, I believe Hulu. If you have, if you
have Hulu Live, you get it. You're you're getting the
unlimited with no extra. I think, uh, Verizon FiOS and
I believe Fubu could be Fubo. It's you know, correct
me if I'm wrong. I don't know wrong that I
but but Inxfinity customers, you to TV. There's no agreements
(15:03):
yet because I believe this is kind of last minute
where WWE and ESPN weren't supposed to partner up until WrestleMania,
So now there's some scrambling going on. And I think
to your point, Chrome, it's it's very confusing for somebody
who has ESPN plus Hulu and Disney and thinks that
they're gonna have wressele palooza when in fact they're not
(15:26):
going to.
Speaker 1 (15:26):
Have it at all.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
So I think WW missed an opportunity to explain it
to the fans on their Monday Night Raw SmackDown, maybe
put something online on YouTube. If you don't have this
unfortunately right now we're working on it, but you may
have to pay that thirty dollars. So that's why it's
really important to one deliver on this pla for those
(15:52):
consumers that are gonna have to pay that thirty dollars.
Am I gonna get my money's worth because the next time,
if you're not delivering, you're not getting my thirty dollars.
So it's it's gonna be really key not only to deliver,
but also to make sure you keep those casual fans
they're continuing the purchase, because if not, you're gonna lose
(16:13):
them and it's not gonna be a good start for
WW ESPN partnership.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
Yeah, I mean, listen, I agree, and it's you know,
we're in an age where it was what maybe a
year or two ago, where again, if you're an ESPN
watch or Chris Russo talks about all the time how
the NFL scatters these games all over all these different
streaming services and like, we're good with it. We can
we can work it through. And like I said, even
though it's confusing now, if I really sat down and
(16:40):
looked at it and figured everything out, I'm sure that
I could.
Speaker 1 (16:44):
Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (16:47):
One thing also is college football is on Saturday, so
people watching college football on ESPN platforms, Watching regular ESPN
and college football Saturday is just huge. So having this
event on a Saturday night on an ESPN app, it's
got to be really crucial to make sure that everybody
(17:09):
knows where to tune in and how to tune in.
So and I know there's some suggestions out there, like
people get VPNs because Netflix is still carrying this outside
of the US, so VPN is also an option. But
I mean, hopefully WB knows what they're doing as far
as making sure that their fans are getting access to
(17:30):
the show. Otherwise they're gonna have a number that they're
not gonna like and they're gonna have their hands up
in the air.
Speaker 1 (17:36):
Like what happened? Why didn't they tune in?
Speaker 3 (17:39):
It's kind of one of those things where hopefully they
did everything they could, and I know they tried with
first take, but I really think they missed the ball
trying to explain who has ESPN Unlimited and who doesn't.
So we shall see, hopefullyfully it works out.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
Yeah, like I even myself, right, so and thanks picking
up there, And yeah, we didn't expect before we had week,
we weren't going to originally do a show. We told
you had to get something in. So I got four
dogs running crazy right now. They're usually pretty chill, but
if they hear the wind blow.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
They're ready for Wressel paluzochrome.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
I know, I know, but but now listen, I I think,
like even for myself, like like christ Muss always talks
about the issues with that, and now people are starting
to be able to understand. Like my dad is one
who struggles to like he's good if he gets if
he's in the service, but once he gets signed out,
you know, and every now and then it kicks you
out of it. Yeah, it's like a whole process to
(18:37):
get him back in it again. So I think it's
very difficult. And they scatter all this stuff around. So
you know, I even myself looked at my because so
I pay for mine through Verizon, which I don't know
if Verizon has that tear available.
Speaker 3 (18:53):
I haven't looked at so do you have Do you
have Verizon Fires No, I just haven't. So if you
have the so the wireless So I'm in the same
boat as you. So we do not have ESPN Unlimited.
We have ESPN Plus. So ESPN Plus is basically what
the platform is now where it's got like a couple
(19:14):
shows on there and they've got a library of things.
But if you look at the ESPN app and you
go on the bottom toolbar, there's a there's a button
that you can hit and it has Russell Palooza on there.
It has like the pre Show, it has a couple
of things. The pre Show is on ESPN Plus. You
can watch that without the unlimited subscription. But as soon
(19:36):
as you click on the seven o'clock Eastern time, which
is I believe somebody asked what time it was seven
o'clock Eastern time, So at seven o'clock Eastern time on
ESPN Unlimited, it automatically takes you to the provider, to
the cable provider. Please log in with your cable provider,
so people that are expecting it, hopefully aren't getting bad
news come six fifty five when they're hitting that button.
(20:00):
Hopefully you're able to to to get uh, get access
to it if you if you if you don't have it,
and our chat will be open so if you have
any questions, we can, we can try to help out.
Speaker 1 (20:15):
We're probably gonna be figuring out the same way you
all are. So yeah, it's it's gonna be. It's gonna be.
Speaker 3 (20:20):
But from my understanding, I don't have it. I have
YouTube TV, so I don't have access to it. So
I have gone back and forth. You know, we have
a friend that switched to Hulu TV. It's the same
price as YouTube, so they get ESPN unlimited included in
their package. So that was something that everybody's got to
(20:42):
make a decision on what they're gonna do. There's also
the VPN option because like I said, Netflix has it,
so and someone asked them the chat also about Netflix.
So Netflix has w W P L e's, but not
in the United States. They have it every they have
it everywhere else. They have the international so they still
have it, but they don't have it in the US.
And I think a lot of the the strategy for
(21:05):
WWE was to scatter it around and have different platforms
pay them abundance of money to carry their pl to
carry their pl E events and and Monday Night Raw
for Netflix and and USA Network for SmackDown. So it's
a lot of different moving parts, but it's a different
(21:29):
money streams from from all these different u all these
different avenues. So it's smart business, I believe. But for
the consumer, it really stinks.
Speaker 2 (21:39):
Yeah, it does stink. I mean we're saying, you know,
you dropped it in. I think it was you. Somebody
dropped in earlier in our private chat that it looks
like which of them. I think Elimination Chamber is going
to be in Italy. Everything's going to be international now
because they're going to pay a premium dollar or to
(22:00):
bring the product up. So we'll still the US will
be the you know we'rew and SmackDown place.
Speaker 1 (22:06):
We're gonna we're gonna learn. We're gonna learn.
Speaker 3 (22:08):
We're gonna learn right away, like I think, you know,
Saturday is gonna be the first test, like, hey, this
is where we're at. And then hopefully some of these
uh streaming platforms I'm hearing YouTube could be in agreement
soon and I'm sure Exfinity will be right behind it.
But Saturday will be interesting.
Speaker 2 (22:27):
Yeah, it's gonna be interesting to see how it goes.
You know. Unfortunately, with what's crazy and we're not gonna
deep dive into this, We're gonna jump into the card
in a second. They don't want to make this quick statement.
Is maybe even a food for thought for next week
if somebody wants to bring.
Speaker 1 (22:39):
It back up.
Speaker 2 (22:41):
But you know, we talk about how you know, w
t k O is in this debt. But what's what's
wild to me is like w W is not in
terms of that entity of the business. They're continuing to
make money. So it's almost as if TKO is leveraging
(23:05):
WWE and its popularity and its ability even overseas to
get a premium dollar and with all these streaming services
to cover the cost of their other entities in their business. Yep,
which is you know, the reason WWE is the money
maker that it is is because of its ability to
(23:29):
be a consumer driven business, but to be you know,
affordable and common sense. And now it's just it's becoming
overly complicated. I feel like they are starting to when
we talk ticket prices, like the ticket prices in the
(23:51):
last two years along three years, we saw it coming
because summer WrestleMania started going up big time, but the
ticket prices are so astronomically like ridiculous at this point
to go to like a SmackDown where like you're not
even getting Roman reigns and you didn't even get Cody,
(24:12):
so it's like weird to me. Yeah again, I just
hope that TKO doesn't do what a lot of people do,
which is we're gonna lean on the fact that these
people have given, you know, in our case, like me,
thirty five years of my life of a dedication. Like
I hope that they're not going to make this an entitlement,
(24:35):
like when people say, oh ww I look at this
TKO now, because TKO is pulling all those financial strings
and making those finances. It's not Hunter. People think it's Hunter.
It's not Hunter. He's the chief content Officer, so he
has say in creative and he has saying that stuff.
I just hope that they're not leaning on us and
leveraging us and to where they are eliminating the ca
(25:00):
consumer that got them to where they are, because you're
bleeding out the family aspect of WWE and and Vince
is a lot of things, but the one thing that
Vince always did, was he even when he raised ticket prices,
he still always had seats and always had enough availability
(25:22):
to make it affordable for a family. Overall WrestleMania, of
course you saw.
Speaker 1 (25:29):
I mean even WrestleMania.
Speaker 3 (25:31):
If you go back to the WrestleMania nine documentary, it
talked about the pricing and this was thirty years ago,
but Vincent Mann had twenty five dollars seats for WrestleMania,
unheard of.
Speaker 1 (25:41):
Now add a couple zeros to it. Yeah, But and.
Speaker 3 (25:46):
To your point, Vince is a lot of things, and
say what you will about him, and most are true,
if not all of them, you should. But one thing
that you can say is to your point, he wasn't
pricing out his audience and he knew when to make
moves with pricing. And to your point, I think t
(26:06):
KO right now is looking at looking at the wrong
things and and looking at one thing.
Speaker 1 (26:15):
And that's the bottom line. And of course is a business.
You have to do that.
Speaker 3 (26:18):
And of course when you're when you're in debt and
you need to, you need to find ways to get more,
get more money, en get more in the black than
the red Peter. Yes, Now, one thing I did notice?
Did notice? And I was listening and one guy I
don't agree with a lot is Vince Russo. But I
(26:41):
heard something today that Vince Russo brought up. If you notice,
remember last year during WrestleMania season talking about all the
sellouts and sellout after sellout after sellout.
Speaker 1 (26:52):
Yes, you're not hearing that anymore.
Speaker 3 (26:55):
And definitely notice if those of you on on a
there's a website called wrestle Tics where they track where
the ticket sales are for each event and they do
WWAW Ring of Honor.
Speaker 1 (27:11):
They do all of them. And one of the things.
Speaker 3 (27:14):
That you notice is certain venues with their they'll they'll
set it up for X amount of people, but it
doesn't feel like we're local in Philly. So you have
the now Xfinity Mobile Arena, which holds you can hold
eighteen nineteen thousand people in there. The last Monday Night Raw,
it was set up for only like fourteen thousand people.
(27:35):
So if they get to fourteen thousand people, they can announce, oh,
it's a sellout, and then if they need a little more,
they can expand it a little bit. But that's just
some of the some of the things that you're that
you're starting to see they're not selling out arenas like
they were because the prices are way way too high.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
We usually go to Monday Night.
Speaker 3 (27:54):
Raw in Philadelphia or SmackDown and group and friends.
Speaker 1 (27:59):
Like the prices are just like.
Speaker 3 (28:02):
For for the and it's not to take away from
the talent, because there's some really good talent. But right now,
you know, prices are just too much, and then you
gotta pay parking, they pay food and all that stuff.
It's just it adds up, especially if you want to
take your children, who aren't gonna pay attention to half
of it.
Speaker 2 (28:19):
Probably anyway, I'm dying. I'm dying to take Christina to
an event, but I just have and she wouldn't want
me to spend that money right now.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
It's it's hard, it's hard to it's hard to make
that decision. It's like, you know, you want to do it,
but at what cost. I could go and do three
or four other things for that same price, and then
so I have some money left over in the bank account.
So these are these are decisions. And that goes to
this Saturday where you have a choice. Some people either
(28:47):
you watch Russell Palooza for thirty dollars or you watch
aw all Out for for forty to fifty dollars. People
who want to watch both are gonna have to unfortunately pay,
maybe have to pay up to eighty.
Speaker 1 (29:01):
Ninety dollars for it.
Speaker 3 (29:02):
So those are just decisions that the consumers right now
are probably not as prepared to do as they were
ten twenty years ago.
Speaker 2 (29:11):
Yeah, agreed. Yeah, And just to tie a ball on
it the point I was going to make after that, Eric,
you're you're a Bar Rescue fan. I know you guys are.
So I look at when I watch an episode of
Bar Rescue and I see they have a business owner
who oh they own this bar, and they own that bar,
and they have like two or three bars, and so
they're taking the money from one bar and they're basically
(29:36):
keeping They're running the one business like shit, but because
the other one's successful, they're taking that money. Yeah, putting
into that, but it's not helping. It's just stopping the bleeding.
Is It's bullshit?
Speaker 1 (29:50):
So again, and that's Hafer says, you're a failure. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (29:53):
Yeah, So again, where are we on with that winning
match we've already heard about. I don't think we dive
too much into it because we've already talked about what
the expectation of it is. Who you got here, you
got Lesnar, you got seen it.
Speaker 3 (30:09):
I think we're gonna get Seena winning this one. I
think he's going to get beat up pretty much. The
whole match is kind of I think it's gonna be
kind of like suplex City from SummerSlam, where he's just
beat up, but somehow he finds a way. I can't
see uh, Seena not winning this one by hooker, by crook.
Maybe it's a roll up, maybe it's a it's a
(30:30):
it's probably a flukey type win, but it's a win.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
Yeah, I think the same. I think Sena wins this match.
I would be shocked unless unless there ends up being
some sort of a surprise. Maybe with the main event,
I could have seen that happening, but obviously this is
not the main event I'm imagining. I'm imagining the tag
team match would be the main event.
Speaker 3 (30:53):
That's what I'm thinking too. I think, and I guess
said Cody and Drew unfortunately are gonna kind of be
you know, kind of lost in the shuffle, and I
think that's a really great opportunity kind of going into
that match. I guess we'll go into it. Sure, I
think I think Cody's gonna win this match. But I
think this is a great opportunity for Drew McIntyre. He's
(31:15):
kind of been lost in the shadows a little bit
and these last last few months, not that he hasn't
been doing anything, but he's kind of you know, he
had the match with Jelly Roll and Randy Orton at SummerSlam,
and he's kind of, you know, been kind of just
in the kind of in the weeds at a lot
of a lot of like a lot of guys have recently.
So I think it's a great opportunity for him to
(31:36):
really show what he's got. Still, he's he delivers pretty
much every time he's out there, and I don't think
this is the last time we're getting this match. I
think to your point at the beginning, a lot of
this will continue, probably, but I think Drew's gonna put
a put a nice performance out there, and it's this
match has a chance to steal the show for sure.
Speaker 2 (31:58):
Yeah, I think this will be a good match. Listen,
they're not taking the title right off of Cody, so no.
I thought they did a good job in taking him
out and honestly unexpectedly because nobody really knew that he
was having another.
Speaker 1 (32:13):
Child, right and filming a movie.
Speaker 2 (32:17):
And filming a movie. Yeah, So, I mean they did
a good job of taking him out for a few
weeks about a month, you know, having that little little
program with with Randy to fill the void, build him
up a little bit more coming off of the Jelly
Roll program. But as I'm concerned slightly that we are
(32:39):
getting to the point where when is enough enough that
Drew keeps losing the big one, I'm concerned that we're
getting We're starting to approach the danger zone of that.
I'm not quite there yet.
Speaker 3 (32:52):
It's it's getting there, though. He's lost to every almost
every top guy in every top match since he won
the title at WrestleMania in twenty the pandemic WrestleMania. I
mean since then, I mean he had he had a
world title win. I He's lost a lot of big ones.
Speaker 2 (33:11):
On my point, I think too, it's I might be
in the minority for this. I loved the character that
we have. I thought the heel turn kind of needed
to happen, and it's almost like, you know, he's a dick,
but like he drops a lot of truth when he talks,
(33:33):
so it's like a it's it's an interesting character. I
do feel like we're starting to get to the point
where I'm dragging. It's dragging its feet a little bit
for me. Yeah, And I feel like we need something
to refresh the character. I don't know if it's another
move to another show, I don't know that that would help.
Speaker 1 (33:57):
I think they kind of did that already.
Speaker 3 (33:58):
He was he was raw and then and then went
to SmackDown, So I think and it's they've done that already.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
And it's kind of the same old stick. So I
don't know, but I am a little bit concerned in
the longevity of how this character is going. Drew is phenomenal.
Speaker 3 (34:14):
He's still cuts and he's great online. He and he
does a really nice job. Like that's part of why people,
I think, respect him. Like he he gets a reaction,
but it's not always booze. He's getting cheered out there.
He's he has the respect of the audience. And but
he he loves to stir stir the pot, which he's
(34:36):
so great at doing, which he's he's just he's that
he's just great. I I I hope that I know
he's gonna come out looking they got they gotta have
him out looking strong, and I think, like kind of
like we talked about with Sina, this could be a
fact where Cody just gets beat, beat to pillar to post,
(35:01):
but he winds up winning the match.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
Yeah. We we'll just have to see how the character
develops after. I would be utterly shocked if he dropped
the title here.
Speaker 1 (35:11):
Agree.
Speaker 2 (35:13):
So moving forward, we have EO Sky and we have
Stephanie back here, a match I think could steal the show.
Are we going back to an EO run kind of
how they because I'm curious they have kind of set
the pieces up where there's a match. I don't know,
(35:36):
is Stephanie ready? I think she is, but is she ready?
You know? That's the question. And then on EO side,
it's they could be setting the pieces up for Oscar
to cost her the title, or they setting the pieces
up to where with this whole kind of cluster that's
going on around her, you could have her next three
(35:58):
potential opponents there and you can get you can bridge
the gap to World Rambo. Yeah, I'm sorry, that's or
Worm or right after World.
Speaker 3 (36:08):
Yes, and they're already teasing Ria to be challenging the
winner of h of this, so that sets up somebody
there as well. So I kind of I could see
it going either way. To your point, I do think
that they feel like Stephanie's ready, and I think, uh,
(36:30):
I think Oscar is gonna wind up costing uh, costing EO.
It might not be intentional or look intentional, but I
think Stephanie's gonna wind up winning this match and becoming
a becoming women's World champion. And then I think you
set up a program with EO and Oscar and then
you get the nice dream match with Stephanie and Ria
because they haven't been doing a whole lot with Ria.
(36:51):
Ria's kind of just been sitting there, sitting waiting, waiting
for something, and I think that's something that she'll definitely
be able to sink her teeth into. And I think
that's why that's why I think you would go to Stephanie.
I don't think you're gonna get EO Riha again, I think,
and maybe they will, but I think also I think
a new matchup for Ria is something that she can
(37:12):
sink her teeth into it and it'd be uh, it'll
be great.
Speaker 2 (37:15):
Well, you could do you could do EO and Ria
at WrestleMania, and Ria finally get over Io because.
Speaker 1 (37:20):
She could you could. Yeah, we shall see.
Speaker 2 (37:25):
Yeah. But that being said, I think what's most intriguing
about this match is this is the one match where
I really don't know who's going to win. I would
imagine I'm I'm picking Stephanie. I think this is the
moment to really put her out there. I think she's
super over and and without even really being much on
television right, she's She's just an incredibly talented superstar. That's
(37:50):
why she was a big deal coming in. I would
worry that we're gonna get I'm okay with what they've
done with Rha, because I've as much as I think
Ria is one of the top dogs of the company,
I worry that we're approaching Rea fatigue. So kind of
having her step back a little.
Speaker 1 (38:09):
Bit, yeah, kind of like Charlotte.
Speaker 2 (38:13):
Correct, even if it's you know, Charlotte was obviously a
little a lot longer, and part of that was injury.
But you know, with Ria having her step back and
maybe for two months, just you know, having her appeer
on TV, but not putting in her a major program yet,
but teasing that a major program is coming. Yeah, done, well,
so we're not overly doing it with Riam. I agreed,
(38:33):
because I don't want what I think happened to Charlotte
to happen to her in terms of, you know, she
really is the best, and I think Charlotte is still
the best.
Speaker 1 (38:43):
Hopefully, hopefully it's a lesson learned too.
Speaker 3 (38:47):
Maybe it's kind of like, all right, well we kind
of saw it with the fans getting tired of Charlotte.
Let's not let the same thing happen to Ria because
she's just super over. You don't want to mess that up.
Speaker 2 (38:58):
Right, Yeah, obviously then we have and uh.
Speaker 3 (39:06):
We haves versus in the vision.
Speaker 2 (39:10):
Yeah, I'll just I'll just get on this because we're
running short on time when I want to hit to
me cool to see theos back. I'm hoping it's one
night only. I think we're gonna get a high caliber match,
but this is an opportunity to pack ESPM with the
top talent, but to put over the young talent who
(39:31):
deserves it. I think you gets Bronson and bron winning
this match.
Speaker 3 (39:35):
I agree, but I think also we're gonna see Roman
after the match.
Speaker 1 (39:40):
I mean, I think I.
Speaker 3 (39:42):
Think the star power point of it with ESPN, maybe
I think I think there's a great possibility you see
you see Roman and you could also see l a
Night as well as we've seen over the last few weeks.
There's definitely I think I think he's a special guest referee. Now,
in correct, Busy, I didn't. I did not know that
(40:02):
was a recent announcement. Okay, well that's the case. That's that.
That puts another wrinkle in it. But yeah, I still
I still think the Vision Division will win this match.
Speaker 2 (40:12):
And obviously we've we've we've beat this match, that this
coming to death over the last week. So I'm gonna
be very short and sweet on this. I think a
J and Punk win this. This is to set up,
This was to bridge a gap. It was to get
star power on this show, and this was to set
up obviously a program I think between a J and Becky,
(40:35):
and I think a J eventually will win the inter
continental title.
Speaker 3 (40:39):
Yeah, that that'll probably be, you know, be down the road.
You're setting up a one on one match already. But
I think a J and Punk win this match. I
think you may see a little ring russ out of
a J. And that's that's expected, but I think, you know,
Punk and Seth will carry this match most for the
most part, and Becky you'll get her locks into as well.
But I think we're gonna see uh, you know, punkin
(41:02):
Seth continue to continue their feud and then start the
new one with UH with A continue the new one
with AJ and Becky and and set up that icy
title match you were talking about.
Speaker 2 (41:13):
So we'll see how it goes. We'll obviously recap the
show next week at our regular schedule time on Tuesday.
Let's hit topic number two here real quick, just your
quick thoughts and reactions NXT homecoming back at full Sell University.
I thought the presentation was tremendous, even having the old
school intro kind of like they used to do with
(41:35):
the old school raws, but with the new talent infused
into it. Love the matches of legacy talent team going
up and or teaming to go against you know, current
talent backstage segments. Shana Basler making an on screen appearance
was super cool. I know there's been rumors that she's
(41:57):
been working for them in a non talent role. Yeah,
talent developed, which is great. Yeah, but yeah, your quick
thoughts on on n XT Homecom.
Speaker 1 (42:07):
I love the intro.
Speaker 3 (42:09):
I liked how they brought the original n XT and
brought it back, you know into the current flow.
Speaker 2 (42:18):
In AVA right, like having them to have an on
screen moment.
Speaker 3 (42:21):
Yeah, that was that was That was pretty neat, uh
and great to see and some we had Grayson Waller effect.
And then we had a couple of matches, a couple
of the you know tag title match with Alexa and Charlotte,
which was which was fun. H b K and Triple H.
Triple H says, what if I want to come back,
(42:42):
you ain't coming back. Just spit your water. But uh,
but it was, it was fun. It was fun at
Trick and Mellow teaming up.
Speaker 1 (42:49):
That was. That was really good.
Speaker 2 (42:51):
That was great.
Speaker 1 (42:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (42:53):
So and then adding that miss Wrinkle into it, you know,
the current stuff. So really fun, really fun.
Speaker 2 (42:59):
Show been back and getting the old school Finn entrance.
Speaker 3 (43:02):
Yes, yeah, yeah, that was that was fun and uh,
I think they did a really nice job. But it
was cool to see them back at full sale. They
hadn't been I realized they hadn't been there for so long,
which is good. They're getting they're getting out there, it's
getting more. Uh, it's it's getting more exposure out there,
and it's you know, it just shows how how successful
(43:24):
it's been too, all the talent that's come there now
on the main roster, and even in a W you're
seeing you know, people, people thriving. So it's, uh, it's
great and hopefully you know, it looks like they've got
more talent to come for that for that main roster.
Speaker 2 (43:40):
Yeah, I mean seeing the seeing the talent work with them,
They hung with them, They put on a great show.
You had obviously Charlotte and Becky also on the show.
I'm sorry, Charlotte and Alexa on the show.
Speaker 1 (43:51):
They really yeah, yeah, they did really well.
Speaker 2 (43:54):
Really good stuff. Great next final minute and if you
have to drop off after the minute, you can. I
can do the wrap up here. But quick thoughts, heavy
rumor coming out the last day or so that TNA
officials and WW officials are expecting now, I think Joe
(44:14):
Henry's contract ends at the very beginning of twenty twenty
six and will be at WW NXT talent, Well maybe
not NXT, he might come main roster. Minute. It's your
quick thoughts. Is is this the big signing that we
think it could be or.
Speaker 3 (44:28):
No, definitely potential, and WW definitely sees sees the potential
in Joe Hendry because he's essentially part of the NXT
roster without even being an official NXTWWE superstar. He's still
doing some stuff in TNA. I think he's feuding with
Eric Young and his group The Cleanser, the Cleaner or
(44:49):
whatever rever he's calling himself now, So you know, it's
it's an opportunity for him to you know, maybe that's
his wrap up story and then then it brings him
full time. But I think you've already seen you know,
he's did WRESTLEMANI he did Royal Rumble. It's clear that
WW loves this guy and they're they they're using them
(45:11):
as much as possible. So I think it's kind of
a foregone conclusion that that he's coming over full time.
Speaker 2 (45:19):
Yeah, agreed. I think you know, obviously from the comments
we've heard from Sean Michaels following his appearance at WrestleMania
and at NXT some of their events, then John Cena
going out of his way to have a private conversation
with him, it shows that this guy is somebody that
WW really sees as a big time prime time player
for them in the future. Definitely appreciate everybody who jumped
(45:42):
on unexpected show, really unannounced, but we felt like we
had to get something out. There was a rough week.
Speaker 3 (45:48):
Yeah, very yeah, very big, very big weekend, and we
wanted to make sure we got out here to give
our thoughts and hope everybody gets to watch not only
that but also aw all out.
Speaker 2 (46:00):
Yeah, we couldn't even talk about it.
Speaker 3 (46:02):
There's so much to talk, so much to talk about,
but you know, there's there's some really good stuff there.
So hopefully everybody gets a chance to watch it and
enjoy wrestling this weekend. Enjoy it, and hopefully you're able
to afford it, and hopefully you're able to watch it,
and uh yeah, everybody have fun this weekend and and enjoy.
Speaker 1 (46:21):
Yeah.
