Speaker 2 (01:12):
Welcome to this Abide Meditation. I'm lone, Laura. What does
Godliness look like to you? Think about this for a moment.
God can use you to carry out his mission, no
matter how qualified you are. He often chooses people who
don't feel qualified at first. But for those who choose

(01:34):
to live according to God's will, what godly qualities typically
rise to the surface. How do they make it obvious
that they love the Lord? To get a good example
of godliness In the Bible, let's examine Barnabas in Acts

(01:54):
eleven twenty three through twenty six. The passage says, when
he arrived and saw what the grace of God had done.
He was glad and encouraged them all to remain true
to the Lord with all their hearts. It was a
good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and
a great number of people were brought to the Lord.

(02:21):
Get into a comfortable position, lean back, let go of
the tension in your muscles. Notice any distractions that might
pull you away from this moment of prayer, and set
them aside for now. Close your eyes and take a
deep breath in and out. Barnabas gives us an excellent

(02:51):
example of godly character. When he saw how much God
was moving in Antioch, he praised Jesus and encourage the
local believers. This was the first place that followers of
Jesus were called Christians. Pray with me, Lord Jesus, Thank

(03:12):
you for the truth of the Bible. Thank you for
the examples of faithful people that teach me what godliness means.
This year, I want to live for you. You deserve
all the glory. Thank you for giving me your church
to encourage me and help me grow. I surrender control

(03:36):
over my life to you. Please mold me to look
more like you so that I can impact more people.
For your Kingdom in Jesus name, I pray. Heymen, take

(03:57):
a moment to notice the places in your body that
feel run down, achey, tight, or tired. Take a few slow,
peaceful breaths as you gently stretch. Allow yourself to slow
down and enjoy God's presence. As the Holy Spirit prompts,

(04:45):
you bring to him anything that make it in the
way of your relationship with God. Think of any sins
that you have not admitted and tell God about them.
Let Him make you clean. Jesus was the messiah the

(05:27):
Jews were waiting for, but he came for all people.
He commanded us to make disciples of all nations. Antioch
was one of the first places where the Gospel was
preached to non Jews. Listen to Acts eleven, twenty three,
and twenty four in the New International version. When he
arrived and saw what the grace of God had done,

(05:50):
he was glad and encouraged them all to remain true
to the Lord with all their hearts. It was a
good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and
a great number of people were brought to the Lord.
As I read that again, listen for a word or
phrase that stands out. When he arrived and saw what

(06:12):
the grace of God had done. He was glad and
encouraged them all to remain true to the Lord with
all their hearts. He was a good man, full of
the Holy Spirit in faith, and a great number of
people were brought to the Lord. What stood out to you?

(07:13):
Barnabas saw what God was doing in the church should Antioch,
and he got involved immediately, even finding Paul so they
could work together to create a bigger impact. What would
it take for your life to look a little more
like this? Now? Listen to Acts eleven, twenty three and

(08:14):
twenty four in the English Standard version. When he came
and saw the grace of God, it was glad, and
he exhorted them all to remain faithful to the Lord
with steadfast purpose, for he was a good man, full
of the Holy Spirit and a faith, and a great
many people were added to the Lord. The body of

(08:37):
Christ or the Church, is made up of all different
kinds of people. That people around you will inspire you
to grow in different ways. Who are some of those
people who nurture and encourage you. Is it your pastor
your spouse, a close friend. Think about your unique personality, interests, background,

(09:40):
and talents. How can you use your gifts to follow
God's call on your life? How can you work with
other believers to maximize your impact? Now listen to As

(10:33):
eleven twenty three twenty four in the New Living Translation.
When he arrived and saw this evidence of God's blessing,
he was filled with joy, and he encouraged the believers
to stay true to the Lord. Barnabas was a good man,
full of the Holy Spirit, and strong in faith. In

(10:55):
your mind's eye, imagine that you are in a conference room,
sitting at a long oval table among the other Christ's
followers in your community. Through the wide windows, there was
a world of people who need help. They need to
know the good news of God's love. A whiteboard on

(11:15):
another wall is covered in ideas of how to help
the people outside. Think about your community who might be
sitting around this table with you. Each person sitting around

(12:08):
the conference table has brought something unique that they might
use to help. Some people are encouragers, others are teachers,
some are powerful speakers, and others are servants. What do
you bring to the table. As a team goes around

(13:11):
the room, debating and dividing into groups, you go to
the windows and hear the people cry out in pain.
You see the hopelessness on their faces. They need to
know the truth that you know. You turn back to
the conference room and open the door wide. The godly

(14:10):
people on your team leave that conference room and take
to the streets with the good news, bringing healing and
hope to the broken, hopeless world. There are so many
ways to impact others. As you go out into the
world today and every day, will you choose to live
for God? Will you tell people about the hope that

(14:32):
you have received. Let's pray. Dear Heavenly Father, I praise

(15:20):
you for your wisdom and endless love. Thank you that
your love and forgiveness is for all people, not just
a select few. Thank you forgiving me a unique perspective
and unique gifts to add to the body of Christ.
This year, I ask that you use my story and

(15:43):
empower me to impact others and bring more people into
your kingdom. It's in Jesus name I pray. Amen, take
a few more moments to pray and meditate on how
God can use you to impact the world. What can
you bring to the table? Until next time, May you

(16:07):
abide in Christ
